I came in here for a take away portion of Pakora recently and was blown away! It was rather good…read more Not the very best I've ever tasted but lovely all the same. Since the nearby New Pearl of India was done up to resemble a lottery winners living room, the Shezam has struggled somewhat to hold on to its loyal band of regulars. But to be fair to it, it has survived against all odds. And I have heard that on a Thursday night you can get a buffet for a pound if buying another full price one! It doesn't really matter if it's good or not, it's a pound! I'll be back for sure.

What can I say of the Shezan? The restaurant itself has been open for more than 20 years... I've…read morestayed in the area practically all my life, and I can't actually remember a time that it was not there! As you can imagine, a business that has been around so long has a legion of regulars, and has definitely earned each and every one. Nomi is the kind of business owner who is all about his customers. He loves a bit of banter, and is always keen to make sure you've enjoyed your meal, and to find out if and how service can be improved. The food itself is always fresh and tasty, and can be made more or less spicy at your request (excellent for those who aren't satisfied until they have a volcano in their mouths, as well as the shy of spice). The selection is to die for, and the Shezan is also one of the few places where you can actually order gajrela for dessert - so yummy. And just so you know, you can have speciality Indian teas instead of the bog-standard tea for the end of your meal. Tis definitely the best Indian restaurant to be found in the Mount Florida / Battlefield area. Get on down there and partake!

Shenaz Restaurant - Curry sauce

I really love The Shenaz and thankfully one of my friends loves the place as much as I do. The pre…read moretheatre menu has a great selection of starters, mains and tea/coffee/ice cream for £13.50 and is available 4pm until 6:30pm every day apart from Saturday. It's great value for money. The staff are always friendly and very attentive, no matter how busy the place is. I had vegetable pakora to start which was crispy and very tasty. Oh, and their spiced onions are the best I have ever tasted! My main of Chicken Tikki Chasni was delicious and so creamy. But the real star of the show was the Peshwari Naan which was easily the best I have ever tasted: so sweet and coconutty (that's now a word!). Overall, the meal was just jam packed with delciious-ness! We both ordered vanilla ice cream and how on earth the waiter managed to memorise all the different sauce toppings is beyond me - THERE ARE SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM! Seriously, I was impressed with the selection, even though I opted for raspberry. We were tempted to order MORE ice cream to try different sauce toppings but I'm pretty sure ordering two desserts each is well...not the done thing, haha! I highly recommend a visit to The Shenaz if you've not yet been!

Came back again last night and all I could remember that it was behind the Mitchell library. Great food...good service and spotlessly clean. I had meat samosas, fish karahi and garlic naan. Everything was fresh and tasty and spicy. If I'm back up in Glasgow again I would be happy to go back.

Well it got to dinner time and curry seemed like a good idea so off we set. There is a wide selection on the menu but I really fancied paneer so that was an obvious starter choice. Then I opted for the chicken jaipuiri with a nan. Oh and a mint lassi which was delicious! Quick service and by the end we were stuffed. Only slight gripe was the difficulty we had in getting the bill at the end but other than that everything was tasty and enjoyable. It was busy when we were in but the food was quick to the table. Just as well as I was starving! I'll add this to the list of good curry venues in Glasgow, and I'll definitely have to get off the bus again to come back!

They do a number of speciality dishes but I opted for the chicken tikka hallumi, very nice and reasonably priced, the good thing is they also have a desk for takeaway food if your just looking to get a carry out. A note though is that they don't serve alcohol in here so don't do what I did and go expecting to have a pint with your dinner - this is the only reason I'll give it 4 stars as it won't cater to everyone, but in terms of the food I can't fault it.

After booking via Twitter, which was very easy, we were warmly welcomed and had our jackets stored for us. Every member of staff was really friendly and chatty and they made us feel like we'd been coming for years. We ordered off the pre-theatre menu and I had mixed pakora to start. 2 pieces of chicken, veg and mushroom accompanied by excellent red and pink pakora sauce. It was all really fresh and very tasty. Good pakora! For the main I had a chicken phaal, which wasn't on the pre-theatre but they entertained my spice requirements. It came out on a sizzling skillet which was very fancy, and it was lovely. I think the waiters were waiting for me to start crying or sweating at least, but I can handle my hot food! It was definitely spicy but not too hot. I might ask for a bit more next time! We managed to fit in dessert (for a measly extra pound) and it was excellent. Gulab jamin with premium vanilla ice cream was excellent, as was the pistachio kulfi. This was all washed down with a Skye Red ale, great to see ale in a curryhouse. When the bill was paid we were both offered an apertif, which I obviously accepted. "Surprise me" was my request and it was fulfilled with a slippery nipple! Really friendly staff, really good food, really good value and ales available too! We will be back.
