Was pretty sure I'd reviewed this place but, as I was in the area I popped in to what used to be a…read moreregular haunt when I lived nearby. A family run, very popular, place, Crema has a great range of food. From paninis (heaven is full of their chicken pesto paninis) to homemade bakes and cakes, hearty soups and a nice line of caffeine based beverages, I spent many a Saturday/Sunday morning brunching here. There are more seats upstairs, and whilst the decor is pretty bog standard, check out the amazing photographs on the walls, amazing portraits in black and white. Price wise it is about average, although the temptation of cake always meant our bill was a little high for a brunch but hey, what's life about if not treating yourself?!! I'd recommend Crema if you are in Hamilton town centre (or even down at the Asda, it's not much of a walk) for any reason. Good food, friendly helpful staff, for a good price. If you are lucky you can chat to the owner(s) and see just how passionate they are about sourcing local produce as well, an excellent sign!

Food comprises snacks with toasties and other light snacks being heated on the premises on order. Coffee is smooth and enjoyable with no bitter aftertaste. Staff are usually too busy to do much more than take orders, prep food and take money. It is rather cramped especially when several people are waiting for their take away orders, but places worth recommending are usually very popular and this is no exception.

Popped in D'Nisi yesterday for a bit of lunch after a recommendation from the lovely Fiona! We were…read moreincredibly lucky to get a table when we went in, as it was absolutely mobbed with grannies and their grandchildren! Unfortunately the only table we could get was right next to the door, meaning we got a horrible draft every time someone came in or went out, brrr. The menu in there is a bit limited, as it is just a cafe, but they do have a licence, so beers, wines and ales are all available too. Colin and I ordered the Parma ham bruschetta sharing platter to start, then I had the chicken and bacon club panini and Colin had a chicken and chorizo stew. The food came very fast, which was great, and was lovely! I wasn't a big fan of the bruschetta, it was awfully dry as no olive oil was used, and it wasn't seasoned either, so it was a bit bland. The panini was lovely, and I had a wee bit of Colin's stew which was glorious! We ordered a couple of their berry frappes which came in huge American diner-style milkshake glasses and were delicious! I think I would rather go here on a slightly quieter afternoon so I could sit up next to the huge fireplace, but I did enjoy it and will be popping in from time to time!

It's a great little place, would sit happily in somewhere... I dunno... less Hamilton-y than Hamilton? I'm rambling. The coffee is really good - my latte is always just the right side of warm, but not to hot; the hot chocolate is incredible (a cup of hot milk with CHOCOLATE ON A STICK to mix to your own taste) and even my non milk drinking better half was satisfied with a soy milk cappuccino. I even dabbled with the apple pie and cream in the past - and it was also very good. I do believe the food may be a bit high priced, but when it's that good, it is worth it, trust me. They have a selection of toys for me... erm... the kids to play with, comfy seats, nice but not overdone decor, the staff are helpful and pleasant. It's a good place. You'll like it.

He had booked the Mezzaine level which is a private area which accomodates 30 people. Now to try and book this is near enough impossible as it's always fully booked so I would book well in advance. You also have to lay down deposit, I looked into this a couple of years ago for my birthday but it was too much hassle. The meal was for 7.30 and I arrived about 20 past 7 but the main table was full and only holds 24, so the 6 left had to sit at tables for 2. My man and I felt really left out. Others felt bad for us and said if advertising for 30 it should be a table for 30, which I totally agree. It was a set 3 course menu for £19.95. The first course of soup was the only meal I enjoyed. Now I've been here many times for meals and always had a really good meal and experience. We were always served last and the waitress used our table to set down some of plates while she was serving. That felt awkward and horrible, we thought she was serving us but she was like "Oh yours will be here soon, just using your table for now while I'm serving." "Eh cheers!" And being last meant the food was cold. Was truly disappointed in my fav dessert of apple pie and custurd. Yuck! I think they had flavoured it was something weird too and it wasn't cinnamon, which I love. After a while people starting leaving so we were able to sit at the table later but we still felt like outsiders mussling in, so needless to say we didn't stay long. I prefer the restaurant downstairs, again you need to get in early to book at table or wait using a buzzer system. I also like the bar just sitting having a few drinks. The quiz on a Thursday night is ok but the DJ tends to talk to people he knows over the mic all the time, so you're getting a one sided conversation that you haven't got a clue what he's on about. Hopefully when I go back it'll be a better experience.
