I had coffee here today and it was lovely a frothy latte in a tall glass. The Mocha Italian blend is served here and they offer to grind beans for you to take home. Many nice varieties of tea as well, plus luxury hot chocolate with marshmallows, cream and flake (wow!), and iced coffee. There are shelves on the left as you go inside selling various goodies, including dried pasta, biscuits, chilli jams, chutneys and other preserves. In the cafe you can have panini, sandwiches, tortilla wraps, salads, homemade pate, homemade soup of the day, bagels with imaginative fillings (including smoked salmon or banana and cinnamon); you'll find extra meals or snacks on the blackboard at the back of the cafe. Apparently, all produce is locally sourced wherever possible. There are milk shakes available and other soft drinks. There are shelves containing magazines and newspapers, which are free to read, on the left of the counter. I think the tables could be a bit nicer or, if not, then tablecloths would improve them, and the wooden floor is in dire need of a coat of paint as the black paint has mostly worn off and looks very scruffy. These things slightly spoil what is, otherwise, a lovely little cafe.

It's got a lovely atmosphere inside, just to the left there is an area with lovely pots of jam, honey etc for sale and there are chairs and tables big enough for 4 easily. Also some for 2. The menu is good, mainly lunch and snack food but they do gorgeous paninis and bagels with unusual fillings. The dessert menu is to die for, freshly baked cakes, millionaires shortbread, rocky road, a different selection each time I've been in but there are the staples including carrot cake. I spent a lovely Monday afternoon relaxing with my knitting and one of the many magazines they have on offer, the daily papers are there too. The staff are great, chatty and helpful. I'm also sure you can buy gifts and certain coffees that you are served too. Enjoy

It's very clean, with small wooden tables (some square, others round) and wooden chairs, plus a few small armchairs, either leather or faux leather. There are also some high bar stools on the left as you go in, resting against a high counter in the window. It's waitress service, which I hadn't expected you can pay afterwards at the till - and the staff seem very nice indeed. There are attractive pictures on the walls and a blackboard for extras not in the menu. The coffee is excellent and cheaper than in many places I've been recently. A lovely frothy latte in a tall glass, with some butter tablet (a bit like fudge) on the side, is £1.80; an Americano in a large cup, £1.50. There are many other hot drinks available including tea of course, and hot chocolate with marshmallows. You can have breakfast between 8.00am and 12.00, from a cooked full meal to banana toasties; there are many options for light lunches including baked potatoes, panini, and baguettes. There are daily 'specials' at reduced prices, like soup & baguette, or coffee & scone (£1.95) A few more vegetarian options would be nice perhaps a cooked veggie breakfast, or at least some imaginative fillings for the baked potatoes at lunchtime. There seems to be a delicious range of cakes but I didn't try any today! For people in a hurry, there's a service offered where they can place an order by phone and it will be ready to collect or eat in. You'll find the cafe on the corner of the street and there's very good disabled access (including wheelchairs). I'll definitely visit again as the coffee was extremely good!

I had coffee here this morning. The cafe is rather ordinary inside with fixed wooden (or plastic…read morewood?) tables and chairs. You take your table number to the counter to order and the waitress brings the food and drink to the table. It was Beth who served me today and she was very pleasant. The coffees are nice but my large latte had quite a milk skin on it, and no froth, which is very unusual for a 'real' latte. I think it was just boiled milk poured over coffee but it was lovely just the same and came with a tiny biscuit - perhaps a bit expensive at £2.35 however? (A pot of tea was £1.35) I didn't have anything to eat but there were various sandwiches, toasties, panini and baguettes available, also breakfasts, salads, baked potatoes, soup of the day and more. Could definitely do with some more imaginative vegetarian choices. The cakes behind glass looked delicious and you can also buy sweets from the jars behind the counter, or quality chocolates from boxes, which are put into pretty pink bags with the shop's address on a silver sticker. I know all this because, before I left, I succumbed to the chocolate coffee creams and the violet creams (which were gorgeous all gone now!!!) There are various art works by local artists for sale on the walls, which are very attractive. Last food orders need to be taken before 3.00pm. Found in the High Street opposite the John Knox Church.

What a cute wee place!! Having seen some comments on a local Facebook page and a sample of the…read moremenu, I headed out to Strathaven to have a gander. Just off the Main Street, to the back, you'll find a small, blink and you'll miss it, type building which houses this lovely little cafe/restaurant. Inside is almost like a converted house! A huge space with stairs leading to an upstairs balcony, surrounded by art by local artists. They sell bits & bobs - candles and the likes - as well as coffees, food and cakes. In the middle of the room is a black wood fire surrounded by cushions which I imagine is a lovely, cosy seating area when they have a full house. The menu is small but filled with dishes which include produce from local suppliers, such as Battlefield rolls and Puddledub bacon. As it was still early in the day I went for a delicious sounding open sandwich - Puddledub Shoulder Bacon with Avocado, Halloumi & Chilli jam. The sandwich arrived beautifully presented and laden with strips of bacon and beautifully crisp but gooey Halloumi. A total knife and fork job, the combination of all the flavours together on one forkful was truly delicious. The other half went for the Beef Chilli (which is braised with some local Strathaven Ale) and it was rich and delicious with a lovely rustic, homemade taste to it. Food you can tell has been lovingly prepared. There was no way I was leaving without something from there beautiful cake display. A selection of cakes were laid out on a side cabinet in baskets and trays and I had to deliberate for a good five minutes. I left with a Woods White Chocolate and a Raspberry brownie and a latte which I happily scoffed in the car on the way home. Overall, a lovely wee place and well worth the journey out to Strathaven for a visit.
