I did not know the place existed until Mr Chris D. told us it's where all the cool cats go. So after trying endlessly to think of what was here before Lucky 7 we got a great wee booth seat under lots of logs built into the wall and covered in menies (mentions, eh people writing stuff on eh stuff). I saw Yelp had got in there. Go Chris! So just about all the meals were £7 so a lovely burger was to be had. As I was casually waiting I was entrigued by the wall paper ripped off parts of the walls. Either they got a crap decorator in, it's run down already or it's art dahling. Hmm?! Interesting! It was a lovely experience with tasty food although far too much for little ol' me. Looking for a quick bite to eat after work I visited Lucky 7 in search of a good veggie meal. I'd been in before a few years back and remember the food was pretty good so I had high hopes. The place is an eclectic mix of furnishings devised to look homely and old fashioned complete with peeling wallpaper. There's lots of really nice touches in the place like the tea towel napkins, cute tea lights and flowers and the quirky bathroom signs. The peeling wallpaper mind you did look a bit like it was trying too hard / like they just couldn't be bothered decorating, but a minor quibble :) Our server was very friendly and brought us water to drink before we'd even ordered which I thought was a nice touch. The menu includes the usual starters, mains, desserts and lucky options priced at £7.77 (main course). For veggies there's a good few options including veggie chillis and hotpot, but I was in the mood for a burger so went with the mixed bean and harissa burger opting for salad over chips. Lots of choice for non veggies too, with options such as fish and chips, pies, steaks but my non veggie companion settled on a Cajun chicken burger with chips. Both meals were presented on a board (why do places give you this - I like a good old plate much easier to eat from!), with ketchup and sour cream in mini jars. My burger was really tasty - the patty was obviously homemade and came in a toasted brioche roll. The chicken burger and chips went down well too and on the whole things were looking good. The place was filling up with a few large tables and our friendly server was earning his keep and appeared to be the only one on. We decided to share some dessert (got to end a meal with a bit of something sweet) and although we were tempted by the choc cheesecake special or apple and rhubarb crumble we settled on the brownie with raspberry and ice cream. A good 30 mins later the server somewhat rushed, presented us with cheesecake, so after a quick apology said he'd get our correct order. At this point we were a little peeved and ready for home but decided to wait it out. Another 10 mins passed and we'd well and truly had enough and wanted to catch our train so we settled the bill dessertless! Overall, some decent homemade food in a relaxed setting, but a few more staff and a bit more attention to detail would have pushed my rating up to four stars. read more

It's very Berlin in here, interior design wise. Ripped wallpaper. Logs of wood on one wall. A huge communal table the length of the space. Lots of rustic browns and wood. Young trendy (but friendly) staff. The soundtrack is fantastic top marks for that. From Van Morrison to deep soul, very eclectic. Good coffee selection. The ladies toilets have a "fannies" welcome mat and the boys have a "willies" welcome mat! Very Glasgow humour to me! It does not get the 5 star treatment from me because I ordered the meat casserole which was delicious and so cheap! But that was it... No spuds. I ordered them later on the side but I wish that was specified on the menu, maybe in Glasgow that is a given so it could be just a cultural thing. Oh free wi-fi & beer on tap too! read more

This isn't a great review and it's pretty much my own fault. I picked the bean burger. Why did I do that!? Whenever I go to a non-vegan place, their vegan option is generally a bean burger, so I eat bean burgers ALL the time. But Lucky 7 is very veggie friendly - there were at least 4 vegetarian mains, and I could have asked what was in them and could they be veganised etc. And therefore, probably had something different from a bean burger. But, if I'm honest, I just could not be bothered last night. Plus I quite fancied the burger. In a nutshell, it was dry and tasted funny. I have no idea what it tasted of - I know my bean burgers and I couldn't even begin to work out what was in it, aside from beans obv. The bun was also dry, and the side salad was rubbish. It looked so rubbish that I didn't even try to eat it. Plus it was served on a stupid board thing rather than a plate, so I couldn't have really moved it about the plate and maneuver it about the burger. The chips were good. On the more positive side, the staff were funny characters, the service was good, and I really like the atmosphere. To be fair, I've eaten here a couple of times before and it was really good - I had delicious vegan friendly food. I will go back again, but next time will definitely choose something other than the bean burger. read more

The Lucky 7 is the restaurant incarnation of a Raleigh Chopper. Back in the Seventies, the Raleigh Chopper was the ultimate stylish bicycle for a kid to own. It looked so cool. It made girls swoon and your friends envious. You wanted one so bad. Unfortunately, all of that disappeared when you finally got to ride it. The long handlebars and the little wheel in front made it impossible to steer. The long seat and riding position made it tough to pedal and really slow as well. The Lucky 7 has several similar traits. The interior is cool and hip from the albums in the foyer (looks a lot like my ex-record collection) to the cord wood wall. But the food leaves a lot to be desired. Went here with the Vegan, since there were a couple dishes on the menu she could eat. I ordered a vegan burger and she selected the butternut squash risotto. I added sides like onion rings and some chips. We were the only ones in the place but the food took about 35 minutes to show up. Not canteen speed. She took a look at the risotto and said "is that cheese?". They had grated parmesan all over the top of it. Back it went and the waitress said they would have something out in five minutes. At that point a previous comment by the chef started to bother us. When the Vegan asked if any of the desserts were suitable, the chef had responded that he may be able to mix up a fruit and meringue concoction. That left us a little troubled. My vegan burger was not the worst in Glasgow but definitely worth the 7 quid charged. 13th note does better for half the price. The onion rings were really oily and the napkin underneath them was sodden with grease. Finally the chips had been heavily salted making them inedible. We were so hungry that we ate them anyways as she waited for the risotto. The Vegan paid for it on the way back to the car - feeling decidedly ill from the salt and grease. When the risotto arrived, it was pretty bad, which is understandable to anyone who has tried to make this dish in under ten minutes. Hard rice and overwhelming garlic flavour dominated and we fruitlessly searched for an elusive piece of butternut squash. So I return to my previous statement. You may look pretty cool as you stroll into Lucky 7 and listen to your Arizona Rockabilly. But when you emerge after this place has thrown you for a loop with the quality of the food and charged you a lot for it - maybe you should reconsider what really drew you here in the first place. There is something to be said for substance over style. read more

If this place ever decided to expand to Paris, France it could easily become my daily canteen. Even though the shabby chic art direction is slightly over kill (the omnipresent peeling wallpaper is a little intense) it's a pleasant, comfortable place to spend a couple of hours. I particularly like the large booths and the giant communal central table. I've only tried a couple of things on the menu but they totally hit the spot on a rainy cold winter day, especially the daily soup and the excellent chunky chips. Special shout out goes to the friendly staff, the fast, free Wifi, as well as the AMAZING musical soundtrack courtesy of the vintage shop next door. read more

Lucky 7 is one of those places I've always known about but never went in. Many a time I have "less-than-gracefully" stumbled out Flat 0/1 swearing we should go to Lucky 7 for lunch and it's never actually happened. Today however I took that leap seduced in by a £5 lunch lunch offer and....oh....my....what have I been missing this whole time!!! My initial impression wasn't great when I went inside. I'm a bit of a snob visually for restaurants/food places and the intentional ripped of wallpaper look mixed with the rest of the really nice decor items didn't do it for me, however I noticed the wee "Angry Octopus" hooks for bags and I was won over! It seems silly but it's the little things that count. We were greeted by one of the managers who was really just delightful and when he was telling us the food the day he made a point of telling us that the soup of the day was leek and potato but not veggie friendly as it was made with ham stock without me asking which again is just a little thing but it really make the difference. The food it's self was incredible I opted for a veggie hot pot which didn't seem like a lot to look at but completely filled me up and my dining partner opted for soup and a sandwich, I cant remember exactly what kind of sandwich however I do remember he mentioned that the bacon had a bit to much fat on it but as I watched him "gracefully" remove it, it actually didn't seem like a lot to me, there was quite a bit of the actually meat left to cover the sandwich, which he said was delicious. The soup again was highly thought of and I'm truly jealous of this as it smelled amazing. The presentation of the food was immaculate as well. My only main criticism would be the space on a busy night, it's not some were I'd choose to go on a Friday or Saturday for a drink purely because they have a long table running right down the middle between two sides of booths and I'd worry it'd be packed. Glasgow, you are on my radar. After a loooong study week in Glasgow, the missus came through to keep me company on the Friday night. And after a brief wander around Bath Street we settled for Lucky 7 for a drink and a bite. Best decision made all week I think. Couldn't tell if this was one bar or two but I certainly appreciated the amount of space both bar areas offered. The layout of the central dining area was interesting too and good to see they offered an abundance of room to each patron; myself and the GF were positively miles from each other over each side of the table! Anyway, onward and to the food. Having been fed all week by the Novotel where my study course had been - and fed WELL - and with the missus' wee stomach, neither of us cared for 2 courses a piece, so opted to share a starter of Grilled Halloumi & Veg Kebabs with sauce vierge. With both love halloumi so this did the trick, just the right size for us to share without damaging the appetite. The sauce I found particularly moreish. For mains, Jen chose the Turkey Roast Dinner and I went with Pork Belly braised in Cider with Colcannon Mash, Roast Apple & Cider Gravy, topped with Crisp Crackling. And a side of Black Pudding to finish it off. I can honestly say this was the best meal outI have had in a long while. The belly, apple and black pud were terrific. The mash was on a par with my own, if not better... and I LOVE my own mash! But again, the star of the show was the sauce, so full of depth of flavour, married the dish like it was meant to be. Absolutely gorgeous. Service was trendy and friendly. Thought on one occasion I wasn't getting my black pud but all was remedied swiftly. Prices were more than reasonable (£40 for two mains, a starter and a bottle of wine). Now I'm worried I may not see much else of Glasgow. I really wanted to love this but maybe I'm getting too old. Great interior style. Trendy staff. It was 2pm on Saturday and loud music turned up for the enjoyment of the staff made conversation inaudible. Pity -would have been nice to stay for a few drinks but The Universal got that business instead. Superbly cheap food but a bit on the bland side. Great style about the place but this old granny says stop trying to be so trendy and season your food a bit better. And turn that bloody racket down while you're at it we're trying to talk about knitting over here. read more

This groovy bar has pretty much got it covered. Rustic ripping wall paper, check. Intimate wee booths for cosy diners, check. Long sociable table for the more audible types, check. Lovely staff, check. Secret (or not so secret) walk way at the back to a vintage haven next door, check. Last week I spent a great deal of time in this lovely establishment, availing myself of their coffee, food and facilities and had a grand old time. The vibe is instantly cool and casual and it's incredibly spacious so perfect for large groups, whilst at the same time being ideal for smaller parties as the booths offer a little personal space. Win win all round. My only regret is that I didn't have to opportunity to visit here during the evening to see what kind of crowd roll in, and what the atmosphere is like a little later on. If it's anything like the casual day time I can only imagine this would be something of a regular haunt, should I ever come to live in Glasgow. The music was spot on every time I came in, offering up an eclectic mix of artists and bands, and the free wifi won't go amiss. Food seemed to be cheap and cheerful, enough to fill a peckish appetite and of course there is Irn Bru aplenty. Bonus! Well worth taking a trip to and spending a lazy afternoon browsing the internets with a steady cup of coffee in hand. read more

My friend and I booked Lucky 7 before a cocktail fuelled night in Hummingbird just along from it. My friend booked it through 5pm, and we were to get 2 courses plus a bottle of wine for £25. We were taken to our seats by a very friendly waiter who said we could have a glass of wine or beer with our meal. We ordered wine, then remembered we were promised a bottle online. I approached the chap at the bar and told him this and he replied "yeah that's fine that's part of that deal too." I thought this was bizarre, that for £25 you could get 2 courses each and a glass of wine or a beer, or a bottle between you... Surely you would always get the bottle! I might be starting to sound like a bit of a wino here... The wine we had was the white one, it was lovely and we ended up ordering a second bottle (whoops, definite wino). The menu wasn't huge, it was 4 or 5 starters and mains. And 4 desserts. We decided to go for starters and mains. I got goats cheese salad with strawberries, and my friend got the soup of the day which was carrot and lentil I think. I absolutely loved the salad, it was a full piece of goats cheese with rocket, a balsamic dressing and strawberries that were rubbed in ground pepper I think. It was divine! Absolutely lovely, and would go back just for that. For mains I had the mussels with a Thai sauce, and chips. My friend had a bean burger with chips. She absolutely adored hers, and it was a great size. My mussels were a different story. The portion was huge, loads of mussels and loads of chips with 3 pieces of bread on the side. However, the mussels were really dry. They tasted hard and dried out at the top, as if they'd either been sitting to long or something. The ones in the sauce at the bottom were fine though, but the sauce was definitely lacking something. It was pretty tasteless. The chips were great and so was the bread. When we ordered the wine, the waitress did forget about it and we had to shout her over again after 15 minutes. Which wasn't too good. She did apologise though. Overall, I would recommend it and I would go back . I liked the starter, and my friend loved her starter and mains. I liked the vibe in the place, and it was very inviting. The staff were pleasant and I thought it was a great price for what you got, especially the portions which were very considerable. I've visited Lucky 7 4 or 5 times over the last year and ideally I want it to be 3 and a half star review! I've had a pretty good experience with the place, trying a bunch of things from veggie burgers, fish and chips to butternut squash and halloumi risotto - which had been the nicest thing I've eaten there. All have been tasty enough, they have a nice sounding menu and have a nice range of veggie options, which is always good to come by. Nice but not outstanding. The service can be a little hit or miss. I've had some good experiences, they kitchen was backed up one afternoon, although you wouldn't have called the place busy, and our food was taking a while. We hadn't overly noticed as there was a group of us chatting and in no rush however the waiter came to apologised without us saying anything and offered us some complementary drinks. It was very nice of him. However other times the staff can be quite standoffish, a little rude and like they just don't want to be there. I've waited a long time for bills and food with no apology or even acknowledgement. Overall it's not bad for a reasonably priced lunch or after work bite to eat. I wouldn't go if you're in a rush and it's probably not somewhere I would choose to go out for a proper dinner. The cocktails are tasty, with a brilliant Orange & Lime Caipiroska! read more

I am torn. I really liked the quirky decor as soon as I entered the room. A lot of attention to details, trendy booth. I particularly liked the long table in the centre of the room with the benches. Staff were lovely too, we never had to wait (apart from the odd tap water that got lost) The only downside is, the food was really bland. My burger was ok, but nothing special. My diet coke was overpriced and flat. What a shame. I do believe the place is full of potential, but at the end of the day, the decor, the service etc. this is all super nice, but the main thing you go out for is decent food. I visited Lucky 7 in March with my family and had a fantastic meal. This was the second time I've been for food and I was not disappointed. They had a lot of vegetarian options on their menu which was very important to us as 3/4 diners were veggie. We all had the fried halloumi started which was delicious and the portion size was very generous. I had the sweet potato and chickpea stew for main and while I thought there could have been a bit more of it I thoroughly enjoyed it. The steak and ale pie was also a highlight for my fellow diner. The cheesecake of the day was chocolate and hazelnut which was also gorgeous! Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend the apple and cucumber collins from the cocktail menu! The only thing I would comment negatively one was that the toilets were a disgrace! They didn't look like they had been cleaned that day at all! read more

I spent a lot of time in Lucky 7 during the last three days and can say that its a really nice place, except for the horrible smell. When you enter the venue it smells like rotten animal, it gets a little better inside but the stain is always present. If I owned a bar/restaurant that would be the absolute last thing I would like my place to smell like. I dont know if this is a temporary problem and their sewer is just overflooding cause of all of that Scottish rain but I really hope they fix it soon. Besides for that its a nice place with decent food (I recommend the soups), nothing too special but it gets you filled. The staff is friendly and there is a pretty cool vintage store attached to the place that doesnt have a big selection but its nice to browse through and have a coffee afterwards. Fun fact: there is a big bed in the corner of the room, I dont know if its for sale or if it just stands there for people who pass out drunk at night and wanna take a nap. read more

I have been a few times now, and on both occasions I left feeling that the only thing of note about Lucky 7 is the quirky pricing. The staff are friendly, they have a good bar and the menu is comprehensive but I can't get around the fact that the food is painfully average. My girlfriend ordered a butternut squash and halloumi risotto which was light on halloumi and heavy on undercooked onion. I ordered a cheese and bacon burger that was OK. You know, nothing special. The main problem Lucky 7 will face is that there is no room for average fare in Glasgow when your have so many competitors on your doorstep. Most people will take a punt once, and if they aren't impressed, they will move on. Will I go here again? Probably not. Would I recommend it to a friend? Definitely not. read more

This place definitely has something happening and I really wanted to like it more. I love the boutique in the front and the vibe in the rear; I loved the staff. But, my fish & chips, recommended by my waiter due to its popularity, wasn't very good at all. Sad. I often visit Lucky 7, especially during a lunch break as their lunch menu is okay and fairly cheap. It's typical pub food - burger, pie, fish and chips... They also have a daily soup, sandwich or baguette - choices are usually quite nice and not the "usual suspects". The food is okay, but not anything special. The service is usually a bit slow, even when the place isn't full, which is not great for an express lunch menu. In conclusion, the place is good for lunch especially if you want a meal for a good price. Their options are £5 or £6.50 and include a non-alcoholic drink. Lucky 7 have mentioned a few times now that they have been planning to change their menu (for a few months now) so looking forward to seeing what they do with it! read more

At the Mitchell Library after an interview that didn't pan out, waiting for a meeting...need lunch that won't break the bank...check Yelp. Lucky 7 fit the bill to a T. I was a bit dubious, as I know Robbie and know his opinions are usually pretty solid, but I had a brilliant time. My burger was handmade, and I swear-to-god it had been on a real grill with flames. A bit dry without cheese, methinks, as I suspect the beef was decent quality and not too fatty, but the taste was fantastic. A dab of coleslaw...wouldn't really call it a side...and then I got some chips with. Do yourself a favour, order the chips. Whomever was at the fryer this noon was amazing, crisping the hand-cut skin-on chips to perfect reddish-golden crisp but leaving the interiors super fluffy. Seriously? They were the best chips I have had in a long time. The ambiance is almost over-kill in the retro/worn/shack sense, to be honest. It's all rather much with the faux distressing, mood lighting, and wood planks, a little too bright and fresh, sort of as if it's been dreamed up by Tarantino. (This is all offset by an out-of-nowhere modern skylight.) I'd have been more sceptical about the hipness of it all had the food not been as good. Which is to say: for a fiver, it was a solid meal, and the staff were lovely even when I dragged my no-hoper and rain dampened self through the door and sat down with a library book. UNREAL. I want to just end the review on that teaser because the food really was that mind blowingly good, but I am more than happy to rave on about this magnificent diner! Everything about it is cool - the staff are laid-back, chirpy, hot girls who serve up some amazing scran! It was so good I actually don't know what to talk about first. It's done up to look like a spit-n-sawdust style saloon, although it sells itself as a canteen. The staff are friendly but seriously cool, like they're not trying hard to paint a smile on their face - it just looks like such a hassle free environment. The wallpaper looks like it's been shipped in from 1973 and is deliberately ripped off to reveal more hectic, floral and green wallpaper underneath - they're going for the principal "no frills, no fuss". But it looks amazing. Like QuentinTarantino has stamped himself all over it, or at least would like to if he ever saw it! The food itself is all so easily priced - it's either four or seven quid, basically, hence the name. For the seven pounds you get a choice from a basic menu, typed out on brown package paper....stuff like fish n chips, steak pies, burgers....the girl came around to tell us the soup and burger of the day and I opted for the Cajun chicken burger with wedges. It was so simple but so flubbin' good. My boyfriend got the steak pie which I helped him eat after my burger - the steak was absolutely perfect, chewy but shredded up so it wasn't tough. I cannot stress how tasty the food was - my boyfriend proclaimed the pie the best he'd ever had, and I actually second that. It fills you up but I wanted pudding so I got a brownie anyway. The waitress came around to ask me how it was but I couldn't answer since I was stuffing my face and probably sounded like I was having an orgasm. Lucky 7 is my new favourite place in Glasgow. Everything about it - the food, staff, decor, "I get my kicks in Route 66" playing in the background...it fulfills everyone of my Western/hillybilly/rockahula/diner fantasies....I feel like there's something a bit punk about this diner actually, in the sense that it's inventing its own genre. But I'm reading too much into it. Go and experience it for yourself - it's even open mega late some nights, to give you a gorgeous alternative to eating crapola junk food at 3 in the morning. You'll fall in love and feel like all your lottery numbers came up at once. read more

Finally came here for food after stopping in for a drink a few times. £7 for a main - cant really complain can you! - plus a veggie selection not to be sniffed at. I had the casserole of the day and it was really nice, tasting homemade. Was a creamy sauce, but not too creamy. Tried the mussels which were also lovely. The toilets in here make me smile with massive stickers of hats and glasses on the mirrors to muck about with and oodles of free sweets, not to mention the chopper bike in the hall between flat 0/1 and itself. Service was a bit bizarre, offering one of our table a white zinfandel as a dry rose - it really isnt dry! But they did chnge it no problems. Also started clearing the table whilst some of us were still eating, but we weren't rushed off afterwards. All in all a great meal from a great bar, will definately be coming back with veggie friends. read more

For such a good reputation I was happy to go to Lucky 7 last night. The place was looking amazing really nice interior design a great place and West Beer on tap is always a good choice but only lager on tap is not a good idea. Coming to the food - menu has descent prices although not really original. I ordered Chilli King Prawns as a starter and I got 3 not so big Prawns in bowl of chilli oil. Well it is what it says it is but come one 3 not so big King Prawns for a fiver I think it is a joke. Then I has aubergine lasagana as a main and we could not taste the aubergines whatsoever. Drab interior with a spartan menu about sums this place up - no frills they call it. During October 2010 four of us appeared here for a Sunday afternoon feed driven on by positive reviews from this website. Three of us had fish and chips which were lovely, I particularly enjoyed the chunky chips; just a pity there were only four of them on the plate. The boyfriend opted for Cumberland sausage picturing a large, filling, coiled sausage in his head only to be served with two rather disappointing links. He found the gravy overpowering and picked away at his meal until he decided he didn't want any more to do with it. Each of us feeling rather unfulfilled from our mains we opted for some dessert. A shared Eton Mess, a cheese plate and death by chocolate brownie soon appeared on our table. The Eton mess went down a treat. The cheese platter consisted of two types of cheese, one of which wasn't very nice so was left alone even by the one in our company who usually hoovers up everyones leftovers. The other cheese was nice as was the red onion chutney so all was not lost. However, I'm convinced the chocolate brownie may actually have killed me had I not opted to pay an extra 77p for 1 small scoop of ice cream. So dry and rich was this brownie that, even with ice cream, I was left with all of the moisture sucked from my mouth and I had to leave some of it as I could take it no more. Surely at £4 it isn't much to expect a blob of ice cream to be included in the price? It is? That's me told then. Service was efficient; neither friendly nor unfriendly. It was nice to see some of the BrewDog beers on sale here and in general the drinks menu wasn't the same as every other eaterie on Bath street which is good. Drinks prices were about the same as all the other bars in the area. However upon leaving; the keen eye of my friend, who is ever one to watch the pennies, picked up the receipt and noticed we'd been overcharged 50p each on our soft drinks in comparison to the price on the menu. He told the waitress who apologised but made no offer to recompensate him, instead explaining that the menus hadn't been updated along with the till prices. My friend wasn't too fussed about the 50p and mainly wanted to point out the mistake on their menu more than anything else. after a long day of shopping, the only thing i really wanted was dinner at a reasonable price since the rest of my money had gone on a new wadrobe for myself... thankfully we already had Lucky 7 in mind, as my friend had eaten there before and it was only a short walk from the shops to get there. although it was saturday night, we were able to get seated right away at the large middle table that runs through the restaurant. i actually really like how the tables were set up, small booths along one side, larger booths along the other side than a massive high top table with benches for a bit of communal eating. also the high top table has handy hooks next to each seat for hanging up your hand bag and coat which i feel is something that all bars should also have!! the menu is broken down into three simple parts...starts, meals for £7.77 and larger meals for around £9-10. we both went with a choice off the £7.77, her the potato gnchocci and me the beef burger with blue cheese and mushrooms. we also went for a cocktail as they were only £5!! followed by a bottle of white wine. food came after a short weight and my burger was definitely superb!! a good size, but not massive and the blue cheese and mushrooms were plentiful. the hand cut wedges were also super tasty, but sad i left about half over from being too full. we didn't get dessert as we were both too full, so the bill came to a reasonable £20 each. not bad for a few drinks and a really good dinner!! will definitely be back to this place when i'm back in glasgow :) read more

Had heard distinctly mixed reports about this place but everybody I was with enjoyed their food and I could have no complaints about my £7.77 fish and chips. Williams Bros lagers on tap too! Pretty fun place for a Friday evening meet-up. read more

Great value! The food here is surprising, having not heard about this place ever before I had no expectations. I sure do now, I would recommend this place to anyone, as long as they didn't mind a good old fashioned bit of grub. This place oozes everything that used to be, and its so fun to eat here. Don't you get bored of all the Ikea wannabe chic and try to hard modern places in the city. Yes, well Lucky 7 canteen is so cool, great experience, you do feel a bit cowboy here But who doesn't love that. My food was great, and not too expensive at all. Recommend to a friend. read more

tried this place after reading reviews on qype.must say I was very dissapointed tried the fish and chips(lunch portion) £4 very tiny portion half fillet of fish if that and yes the chips come in a little poke all 6 of them the fish was ok but not great the chips were burnt and not even crisp,if your going to leave on the skins then the skin needs to be crispy,not soggy like these even the waitress with the kinky knee high boots couldn't make up for th food I wont be making a second visit read more

I think the 'no frills' angle is an excuse for not spending anything on the decor. The peeling wallpaper, the drab surroundings, the lack of heating, the menus on scrap paper set all the alarm bells ringing for me. I'd seen the 'trendy' tramp stuff before and have never been impressed by it. The soup we had was almost tasteless, the main courses mediocre and they finally put the steel boots in with the sweets. Extra charge for a tiny dollop of ice cream on the 'death by chocolate' which was a dried up bit of cheapest of the cheap chocolate cake. The seating was uncomfortable but that's all part of the ennui of the place I suppose. In a way I am glad I visited because next time I am in a decent eatery I will appreciate it all the more. I loved the decor and the staff and the steaks and the pate starter and the wine, my experience in food establishments is greater than my ability in writing reviews and using good literacy. Will go back soon its a good place and they allowed my niece to scribble on the already graffiti laden wooden logs. Ps not mentioned on other reviews is that this place is connected to the funky nightclub flat 0/1 which I hope to it visit soon- was disappointed it was closed on a Sunday. read more

Ever since my boyfriend and I decided to pop in and check out this place over a year ago we are regulars. Here is why... The music is good, the place is laid back and the decor is quirky. The staff are so friendly to the point that we're now greeted like friends when we arrive, something we see staff do with many people. If you just fancy a drink then you can choose from wines, speciality beers and please at least once you need to try one of their cocktails! I would recommend the apple and cucumber collins (my boyfriend would recommend Treacle) during the summer they made strawberry cocktails that were so pretty you didn't want to drink them..but we did...we did a lot. Food! Sevens do two different kinds of deals with menus on top of there usual menu (check out the bookings for Sevens on 5pm.co.uk) They have an a la carte menu costing £10.77 and a couples menu for £24.77 which includes two courses from the set menu and a bottle of wine to share. Sevens have changed their menu and it caters to carnivores, pesciatarians and vegetarians alike. If you have a request the staff are more than happy to ask the chef about your query (one night we both just wanted "snacky" food and although Sevens do not technically do this they went to the chef and returned with a board of hand made tortilla chips, dips and cheeses!) The food is good, portions are fantastic and the price is great. Also have a go at the Specials which change daily, they are always a refreshing change (well to us since we practically live there now). My boyfriend is a full on meat eater and would recommend the steak and/or mussels in cider and bacon. I'm a pescitarian but always try the different veggie specials on offer and I've never been disappointed. I cannot fault this place it's always a joy and afterwards you can always pop in to Flat 0/1 next door for some drinks and a dance :D read more

The Lucky Seven well we were the unlucky four on Tuesday night. Watery mushroom soup, £4 for two haggis balls, stodgy fish, £1.50 for a handful of frozen peas to go with your main course, £4 for a dry chocolate cake that tasted of Cadburys drinking chocolate and then 77pence for ice cream to go with it. No wonder they have the menu on two sheets of brown A4 paper with a minute font. We will never set foot in this dump again complete rip off for poor quality food. read more

I have no comments on the food as we were not able to eat there. Their service, however, is quite abysmal. We booked a reservation online and showed up 10 min ahead of time. We were then told that our table was really booked for 15 min after our confirmation said it was and that they would be unable to seat us until the later time. It seemed a little ridiculous as the restaurant looked like it was half empty when we walked in. Some other people that walked in 10 minutes later were seated while we were waiting. By the time it was 20 minutes after our booking, the staff hadn't said anything or even made eye contact with us, so we just left. I think this place takes itself way too seriously and has got to be one of the most pretentious places I've run across in Glasgow. read more
