brisket on the left (ok) and on the right is supposed to be burnt ends (its not burnt ends though its pulled beef)
    Ryan M.

Great beer and great service. The waitress was brilliant. Ig it was just drink I would give the place 5 stars bit the food was a bit of a let down. Burnt ends were not birnt ends but pulled brisket. Even the waitress said she did not agree it was burnt ends. The pulled pork had no taste and was bland. I added salt and it improved a bit bit really was not great. The cornbread was simply amazing and I have to recommend it but the mac and cheese was gritty and the wings were soggy. The brisket we ordered (yes we ordered a lot) was alright. half was nice and half was dry. i really want to say this is caused by corona but it's not. The place was busy and doing quite a bit of food but if you know proper brisket, pulled pork, wings and southern style food / bbq then you are goong to be disappointed. Come for the beer which is excellent but don't stay for the food which is average at best. probably great to many though if you don't know what great really is.

I was staying in town for one night in the apartment building next door and had a great time. The service was very friendly and they had a great selection of beer on tap and whiskey. I loved seeing everyone with their puppies in the place. Great spot.

Visiting Scotland and Looking for a change of pace from haggis and toffee pudding? Try this place and enjoy your craving for meats with a twist. As a Native Texan from US I can honestly say the brisket, pulled pork and ribs were quite good. Tasty, tender and flavorful. Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleased. Considering how far away from brisket country this place is they are doing a great job. Side dishes were also great. Beet, goat and greens salad was delicious. Fried cheese was also great with batter similar to fish fry batter (which is outstanding here). Great selection of draft and bottled beers with inside and outdoor seating. Super friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Great spot in the heart of Glasgow for a proper beer. For people from the US traveling through the UK, good beer can be hard to come by, but not if they happen to be near one of BrewDog's locations. They make world renowned ales that are big, bad, and in your face. Some are, predictably, better than others, but I would say that all of them are tasty. I really like that they are willing to take risks with their beers and do crazy stuff, but that they also do the fundamentals required to make a simple beer well right too. This particular location specializes in barbecue on the food side of things. It looked/smelled pretty good, but if barbecue is not your thing you might do well to eat somewhere else and just come here for beers. To keep you entertained, they have a fairly extensive board/tabletop game collection to choose from and everyone working when we went in seemed more than willing to chat up a couple of friendly, albeit slightly intoxicated, Americans. As a bonus, they have a bottle shop attached with takeaway beers from not just their brewery, but also a bunch of others around the UK as well. The guy in the shop was friendly, knowledgeable, and pointed me in the direction of some other breweries' beers I might enjoy (which I later indeed did). All in all a great spot and experience. I think if I only had time to go to one beer bar in Glasgow, I would probably go to Drygate over this place, but one should never go to just one bar in my opinion. My suggestion, grab some delicious beers and dinner/lunch at Drygate and then stumble your way down the hill to BrewDog for more beers and some to take home after!

I'm very aware that BrewDog is a company that can be best described as polarising. Even in my own social group, the announcement of this location was met with a mixture of excitement and annoyance. I'll fully admit that I'm excited about the whole thing. My excitement is why I was glad to get to attend a pre-opening night for Equity Punks (stockholders). DogHouse Merchant city is the second BrewDog location in Glasgow but it's not the same type of pub. So, what makes this location special? Besides being simply larger than the other location in Glasgow, there's more of an emphasis on food. It also has a bottle shop attached. The promise is 25 draft beers and lots of bbq. There's plants of seating, both inside and outside. There are both booths and a series of long tables. Lighting is low but not too dim. Tonight is a special night and so there's an air of excitement as we all wait to get in for the shareholder opening. People are queued up by 5:45 for the 6 opening. I'm just glad it's not raining. Once I got in, I was given a token to try food and drink (a perk of the evening) and sat down before getting a drink. The space is even nicer once you're in it the building. The bar is long and they have signs with all of the beers right above that. The real secret is those aren't the only beers. Besides the standard beers in bottles, to the right of the bar is the bottle shop. It's a small space but very impressive. You can pay a corkage fee to get any of the bottles there to drink in house. (£1.50 for up to 500ml and £3 for all above). And that's when I'll get onto the food. I admit I got to sample a bit of all of the meats, a hot side, and a cold side. It's served in a canteen cafeteria style, including with metal trays. My first impression was that this is proper bbq. They have pulled pork, beef brisket, sausage, and chicken. The end of the brisket is beautifully charred. They use Carolina style vinegar sauce. The macaroni and cheese is nicely creamy and the pickles were well seasoned and a little tart. Tonight they had Victory At Sea on nitro, but I'm mostly excited to see they have a nitro tap. I know it's a special night, but the staff is marvellously enthusiastic and friendly. It bodes well for the future. I started this with the intention of saying it'll likely not become my home location because it's further from my home than the other location, but this one is so nice than I'm contemplating changing my mind. It would be a fantastic regular pub.

I was a bit curious and went to Wikipedia to figure out just how mega Brewdog had become, well amazingly (if I can actually count) I discovered that this is their 37th bar on planet Earth! Next stop, the Moon? It's crazy to think they opened only their first bar in 2010, but its also great to see how popular craft beer has become. Doghouse in Glasgow's Merchant City is something a little special for the Brewdog chain. Not only does it operate as a regular Brewdog bar, but it also contains an outstanding bottle shop and a canteen style smoke house / bbq joint. I, along with my partner in crime Austen M, were fortunate enough to blag tickets for the launch night on Friday 30th October courtesy of the Glasgow Food Geek who couldn't attend herself. I reckon it was just a lame excuse as that lassie CANNOT drink beer to save her life. Despite actively force feeding 'The Geek' countless beers samples, I think its safe to say she will always opt for a glass of Victoria Beckham 'special' wine rather than a craft beer, anyway I digress. Back to the pub..... As you would expect from Brewdog, its well stocked, but this new place, even more so. The bar features no less than 25 draught beers on tap! The majority of draughts are from the Brewdog brewery, however, there was a healthy selection of non-Brewdog taps too, from around the globe no less, which was great to see. In addition to this, is the MEGA bottle shop, which really sets Doghouse apart. The knowledgeable staff informed me there were some 250 bottles to choose from and the genius behind this is that they are all available to sit in or take away. I've experienced similar such bar / bottle shop combos in places like Copenhagen (i.e the amazing Mikkeler bars) but never here in the UK, so this is something a bit special for us. If I were to talk about the 275 different beers on offer it would literally wear out my keyboard, so I think its fair to say, that if you don't find a beer that you like in here, you should just probably just give up looking. The opening night was rather relaxed and fortunately it wasn't overly busy so we were able to find a seat next to some friends we spotted. At the door we were greeted and given a little token which entitled us to a half pint of punk and a taster platter of various smoked meats and a couple of sides. Most of you will probably already be familiar with the style of beers Brewdog produce, predominantly of the über hoppy / IPA variety, and that is exactly what we got in our Punk IPA. Bursting with tropical fruit notes with a crisp, bitter finish it worked really well with our meat-fest platter. Unfortunately for you veggies and vegans, this will not be a dining location for you, as the menu is pretty much exclusively for carnivores. The meats used are sourced by the award-winning butcher Aubrey Allen and they come in all different styles. North Carolina-style Lexington pulled pork, Texas brisket, 'hot gut' smoked sausage, smoked Beef Rib, smoked chicken to name a few. These are sold by the pound, however they also do a platter which they offer for lunch (£8) and dinner (£14.95) if you fancy trying a few different items. On the night we were treated to pretty much all the meats and I concur, they were good. Its not the most adventurous or inspiring of menu's and perhaps its a little fad-y, going all out with the American theme, but hey, its what the kids want! We got to chose from two different sides, from items like Mac & Cheese, Potato Salad, Blue Cheese Salad, Pit Beans and Market greens. I went for the greens and tattie salad and they were again very nice without being mind blowing. Like all Brewdog pubs, it has that familiar industrial type look, but its laid back, with friendly staff and chilled out punters. For me this is a place to enjoy beer, with like minded beerphiles. It truly is our beer Mecca in Glasgow so its now time for me to work through those 275 beers..... In summary, for the bar and bottle shop its an easy, no brainer 5 MASSIVE stars. Because they are marketing themselves as a restaurant I feel this is a very important for Doghouse, however the food for me was not that exciting with not enough choice or variety So it's just a 3 for the grub, giving these guys an easy 4 stars.

Aaaah BrewDog. I loved your west end bar and hoped so much the merchant city Doghouse would imitate it. It didn't. And i couldn't be happier. It's taken us months, but this week the Mr and I finally dragged ourselves round the corner to visit our new local. We didn't try any food (was far too late), but I've not heard anyone say a bad thing about munching here. For me though, the atmosphere was quite different from the west end branch - there you can't move without bumping into a stereotypical hipster - here, the atmosphere is much more laid back, and well (don't hate me!), pretentious. I totally loved it. We'll def be visiting again soon!

For the first few weeks of Doghouse opening it was super-busy so we didn't get the chance to pop in here. But in the last few weeks I've made it here twice and I'm super-impressed. On both occasions we were lucky enough to get a both - in fact, I'm sure it was the same booth on both nights. A selection of board games if that takes your fancy - or bring your own. And, of course, their awesome bottle shop, where you can choose from their vast selection of beers to drink in the bar or take away with you. Their beer menu is prominently displayed behind the bar on a cinema listings board - yeah, I love this feature too - on one side, a list of Brewdog beers, on the other their current selection of craft beers from partner breweries. The decor is a departure from all the other bars, possibly because they've bought all the gym hall flooring in the country to furnish the others. Huge windows looking out onto the street in two directions makes it very bright and airy, and a great opportunity to watch the world go by. Exposed brickwork and piping, filament lightbulbs suspended from the ceiling and, if I'm not mistaken that's a big blue cargo shipping container next to the bar... I love that the kitchen is open and visible to the bar - something about watching food being made so expertly has always appealed to me. Next time I'll defo have to try something from the menu - it's mostly meats, but the dessert menu looks spectacular too and changes regularly, so there's always something new to try. This is such a welcome addition to our neighbourhood and I, for one, am a fan!

My dear Glaswegians, you're truly being spoiled here. Not only is there a bar but also a full on restaurant AND a BottleDog to boot. If they had hammocks in the corner you'd never need to leave. As with their sister bar BrewDog Glasgow, we came to DogHouse twice during our city break as we love their beers so much. Plus, it was an uncharacteristically warm weekend so their outdoor benches on the quiet, mostly pedestrianised Hutcheson Street became our base camp whilst we passed the time and tried to decide what to go and see (drink) next. Despite them being a food-focused venue we didn't actually eat anything, though the wafts of barbecued meat helped whet the appetite for dinner later on. We weren't here at the more popular drinking times, so the cavernous space was more obvious; that said I'm sure they've sized it knowing fully well that they'll be totally rammed with post-work punters most evenings. During our second visit we had a peruse of the bottle shop and bought a few local specialities - they're very BD-heavy but now that most of them are nationally available focus on the other breweries they stock. DogHouse, you're just fan-dabi-dozi.

I'm already a fan of BrewDog and I'd been looking forward to DogHouse opening for a while. Naturally I was excited when Briony C suggested that we go to check it out. We were slightly concerned that we might not get a table. Fortunately this bar is on the large side but I would certainly expect it to be standing room only on busy Friday and Saturday nights. Definitely aim to get there early if you want a seat, which you should, because you're going to want to try the food. The food is focussed on barbecue, think pulled pork, brisket and baby back ribs. It's served canteen style; grab your tray and order your mains (there's options for a selection or for each of the meats by weight) and then move on to get your hot or cold sides, including things like potato salad, burnt ends (those lovely bits at the end of a roast with spicy gravy stuff) and macaroni and cheese. Then, pay at the end and go get your seat. The bar is very well stocked, obviously the main event is BrewDog's beers plus a few rotating ales by other breweries. At the very far end is the "bottle dog," a sectioned off area where you can buy yet more beers by the bottle either to drink in the bar, or to take away with you. DogHouse is a great addition to the Merchant City bar scene. I can see it being a regular haunt for me and I'm already trying to come up with excuses to bring people along for some more of that barbeque and some delicious beers.

So it's now a pack of Brewdogs in Glasgow? Much like it's cousin in the West End, if it wasn't for the quality and selection of beer here - not just their own brewed concoctions, but guest ales and lagers from all over - then you could make a case for this being style over substance. Yes, it's got that Brewdog touch to it. It's very modern and whatever the latest buzzwords for interior design are. All I know is, I like it. And that's what counts when I'm reviewing it. It does get very busy, as you'd expect from a Brewdog establishment, so be prepared to stand, but there is plenty of seating to be had. Wherever you sit or stand, you'll have a view of the outside world; big windows onto Merchant City dominate proceedings, along with a big neon sign on one wall. You'll also notice a bottle shop - you can peruse the selection in the bottle shop to take away with you if you're there in time which I think is an incredibly good idea. Couple of bottles for the train home? Why not! In any case, there's a kitchen as well, but I've not partaken of the food myself. When I do, the fifth star may be earned going on what I could smell! It's a great place to see and be seen, it's a great place to meet up with a big group of people and socialise, and it's a great place to wander into on your own for a pint of something you've never heard of. It's a Brewdog - so above all you'll know it's quality.

I think this new BrewDog is a great addition to Merchant City and was really chuffed to visit when it first opened. Being a launch night, we were treated to lots of samples and the place had a real buzz about it, but I wanted to pay it a proper visit as a customer before reviewing it. I went in for lunch this week with a veggie friend and was interested to see what they could offer as their menu is super meat heavy. It's all BBQ/smoked meats which personally I don't really like (I know, sacrilege coming from an Australian) so when my friend ordered a double portion of mac cheese for lunch, I followed suit and got the same. I also ordered a blue cheese salad because why not. At lunch time, it was pretty quiet and we were able to grab a booth seat which are definitely the best seats in the house. Service seemed a little confused though, and I really couldn't tell whether it was full table service or if we were meant to go to the bar. We had our drinks order taken but then needed to go to the serving counter to get food, and I wasn't sure whether we needed to pay at the counter or could just pay for all our food and drinks together. I'm also not a huge fan of the canteen experience of ordering your food and then standing there and waiting for it, and would rather that they just did table service for food like a normal bar/restaurant but maybe it's just me. So, how was the mac cheese? The server topped mine with crispy onions (drool) and it was absolutely lush. The right amount of cheesiness and a very generous portion which I actually struggled to finish, if you can believe that. The blue cheese salad was actually a wedge of iceberg lettuce and they'd magically managed to get blue cheese through each layer of the lettuce - perfect! All up, I really liked the non-meat food here and would definitely recommend it - it's good to see that a veggie could find something to eat here even though at first glance the menu seems to meat-heavy. I wasn't having any beers (it was a Tuesday lunch time) but I will definitely be back for a session soon and will update accordingly! Note: there's also the bottle shop so you can buy beers to take away, or to drink on site! Such a great idea. I didn't get a chance to look at the selection this time though.

I finally got round to visiting the Doghouse. Surprising that it took this long. I knew what I wanted to try straight away and that was the legendary burnt ends. Served in a tub the meat was sumptuous and just what i could have wanted. I had two slices of bread as well and made myself an awesome sandwich with the burnt ends. This was washed down with a nice cold Jet Black Heart and a Proto and then another Jet Black. This is the flagship of BrewDog venues in my opinion. Also attached is BottleDog where you can get your favorites to takeaway or open them up onsite for a corkage fee. I will return!

Shug: "I wiz playing with YER MAW last night!" Boab: "Ohhhhh, ICE BURN!" Enjoy and no ravens were harmed within writing this review.

I was in Glasgow and heading off to a real ale festival, and thought I'd better grab some food…read morefirst in preparation, so I decided to pop in here and check it out, maybe have a pint while I decided where to go to eat. I opted for the taster plank - 1 third of a pint of three different ales, served in a plank with the beer names written on. That in itself is a great touch, a few places don't identify which beer is which. I had a Casear Augustus from Williams Brothers, a Fake Lager from Brewdog and a Witless IV from Red Willow Brewery - as you can see, there's a great range to choose from and the staff were really helpful and knowledgeable about them all. While I was looking around and supping my drinks (the Witless was the pick of the bunch, fact fans!) I noticed the menu. I knew that The Raven were offering food, but wasn't too sure what. Looking at the menu, it looked pretty nifty so I figured I'd just eat here, and I was glad I did! The food is BBQ based - low and slow smoked pork, burgers, ribs, that sort of thing. There's been an explosion of this kind of food in Glasgow recently, I perhaps lay the blame at the feet of Adam Richman and Man vs. Food (my dream job too, it has to be said) but I'm not complaining! I opted for a pulled pork burrito with a side of spicy cheesy fries, and at £9 for the two, it was a steal. They arrived quickly, the fries in a basket and the burrito served on a platter. I was given cutlery before the food arrived, and what looked like a carrying case full of sauces, salt, pepper, kitchen roll and a great sight, a wet wipe! A great thing to have when eating what is esssentially finger food! There wasn't a long wait at all for the food; The burrito was lovely, really filled to the brim and fresh - but the spicy cheesy fries were stunning. Covered in jalapenos, cheese and a smoky, spicy BBQ sauce, they were quickly devoured. I could honestly have had a second helping of those on their own. A great first impression here, not just for the great food, but for the really helpful and friendly staff, and the attention to detail that the whole place shows. It's somewhere that I can see me returning to time and time again.

Had the Goth ice cream which a black coconut ice cream With Jäegermeister syrup black sprinkles and wafer .Coconut creamy meets chocolate bitters and orange citrus . The syrup they use is sweet and thick and adds another dimensions of texture to this already complex up desert . Absolutely fabulous . I will definitely be back to try their buckfast shake . --- Came back the next day because I wanted to get their extremely limited goth dessert again which they were sold out of . Sad . But at least I had the chance to take advantage of their £4 Tuesday burger meal deal . I added caramelized onions for an extra pound but would recommend springing for the cheddar cheese or bacon for an extra £2 which is still a good deal ! As the the taste ? It's £4 burger with fries . No complaints ! As for the buckfast shake ...what an interesting concoction . It's strong ...I can only imagine what having straight buckfast would be like ..I'm glad my first time was in shake form as I'm sure the cream and milk toned down the alcohol and sharpness a lot . The overall flavor really grows on you . It reminds me of like a Neapolitan shake ( heavy on the chocolate and strawberry and no vanilla ice cream ) with a crap ton of added fermented strawberries and maraschino cherries and maraschino cherry syrup . If I was the chef I'd tweak this by adding a rum flambé banana slice or just banana in general would be so nice . I like this place a lot and would low key love to be a business partner or be able up a similar place in the States . Definitely a gem in Glasgow.
