Best meal I had for traveling 3 weeks in Scotland! It was my friend's birthday and I've made the reservation months in advance. By the time we reached Glasgow at the end of our trip, I was so tired of fries that tend to come with most Scottish dishes. My venison entree comes with a pile of veggies. Thumbs up! The venison was cooked to medium (although I would prefer my meat to be a little rare) and perfectly seasoned. Dessert came with a candle for her to blow out. A perfect

Lovely little restaurant with an excellent menu that was surprisingly affordable. My waiter Harry was very kind and attentive and the food was fantastic. I had a meat-heavy lunch so I went for the baked pumpkin dish with lentils and lots of vegetables. Drinks and dessert were also great. I had some kind of Prosecco spritzer and their sponge cake. They also had a lot of great digestif options. Highly recommended for parties of 4 or fewer as they don't appear to seat tables larger than that.

Probably my favorite dining experience during our visit to Glasgow. The menu was interesting but also simple. Great for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. I think some of the reviews here are out of date. There is a full bar and we had a couple of yummy cocktails. The decor was open and contemporary, though it is a small place. The area is blossoming and very up and coming, though still a bit dingy in areas (but felt very safe). One server took care of the whole place, but he did a great job and (as usual for Glasgow) was very friendly and relaxed. I took a couple of photos which are not great, but give you an idea of the interior.

Forgotten gem, the decor could do with an update and there is no more BYOB, but the food was very good. Price for a bottle of wine and 3 course meal for 4 people from the pre theatre menu was 100£. I'd go again!

I'd heard so many good things about Fanny's, maybe my expectations were set a little high. We easily got a booking on the first Friday during the Games which was impressive as I was expecting Finnieston to be heaving. We arrived just after 5pm and were shown to our table and had a look over the menu. The restaurant is pretty small, as others have said but it wasn't really a bother (apart from the fact it was really warm, but Fanny's can't really be blamed for that!) The early bird menu is £14 for 2 courses which is pretty reasonable, and there are lots of locally sourced dishes featured. I opted for chicken liver pâté with apple and pear chutney, followed by Ayrshire chicken supreme salad with Parma ham and truffle dressing. The pâté was fine - nothing outstanding but nothing to complain about it. The chutney was pretty chunky which some people might quite like and maybe an extra oatcake or two would've been nice. The chicken was where I was pretty disappointed, it was overcooked and pretty dry. It was such a shame as otherwise the dish was nice with lovely ham and rocket, but the dryness of the chicken and the lack of any real sauce to counter it is why this has ended up at 3 stars. I wouldn't be put off returning to Fanny's as I think this might have just been an off night - it was really hot, and it was the Commonwealth Games so perhaps things weren't up to their usual standard.

Really nice place, awesome quality food and attentive service. Small venue so I would suggest booking a table!

It is not located in the hip touristy area next to Planet Hollywood. It is a small unassuming pub in a working class neighborhood. We walked from Glasgow University (looks like Hogwarts) which turned out to be a longer walk than Google made it seem. It was cold and drizzly just like Scotland should be so when we got there we were ready. We didn't have reservations but they were extremely nice and sat us down. This is a Pub. Just what you are picturing in your head right now. Dark, lots of dark wood, old crumbling bricks. I love this decor. We started with a couple of appetizers I ordered the Salmon Tartar and my wife ordered the smoked duck breast. I ordered a cold pint my wife had a glass of white wine. We decided to also have a half dozen local oysters. The waitress asked if we were expecting someone else. I guess 3 appetizers is not normal for 2. We were just getting started. Once we demolished all 3 appetizers I followed up with the Pan Seared Gigha Halibut my wife had the steamed Shetland Mussels. What a treat. All the seafood is local and very fresh. All of our dishes from beginning to end were tops. A truly historic dining experience from a historic eatery. In Glasgow then GO...... to The Finnieston. See what I did there. BTW we also had dessert.

The restaurant was small but cute and we'd made a reservation so although it was crowded, we were seated right away. We started with a tomato soup (great) and a fig tartlet with goat cheese (amazing). The three of us then shared a fish dish (can't remember what kind, but it was good), scallops (really yummy) and prawns (SO GOOD!). The seafood was really fresh and delicious (and what they are known for). We also got a good kick out of one of the appetizers, "cullen skink," because we were being immature and it sounded funny.

The decor is so opulent and under the sea themed- like the Little Mermaid meets The Water Babies! The service is really friendly and non-intrusive as well as being super efficient. The pre-theatre is available until 7pm- among the latest cut offs I've come across and at £15.95 for 2 courses and £17.95 for 3 it's an absolute bargain for food of this quality. While we waited for our starters we were offered (and accepted!) complimentary bread and dipping oil and vinegar, and were offered and accepted seconds! For starter I had a beautiful Camembert filo parcel with lovely salad. This was melt in the mouth tasty and a surprisingly very large portion. This restaurant is renowned for fish so I ordered that for my main course- the fish of the day was sea bream with dauphinois with potatoes and tomato salsa served with vegetables. It really was jaw-droppingly good. Everything was perfectly cooked and the quality of the ingredients made this a meal to remember. We ordered a grand sharing platter of desserts from the a la Carte menu and were delighted to tuck in to all 4 full size desserts from the menu- Nutella cheese cake, sherry trifle, sticky toffee pudding and 3 ice creams from a selection (we went with Mint choc chip, vanilla and Dime bar). All 4 in my party have big appetites and couldn't finish! The tea was served in beautiful silverware - it's worth mentioning that the cutlery and crockery throughout the meal was a joy to use. We also got a whole plate of tablet left on the table. Really generous dining with copious amounts of food in generous surroundings. Excellent value for money- I can't wait to return.

As it was only lunch I restrained myself and opted for a starter of the fish cakes with a side order of chips, which was just as well as the fish cakes were a tad on the small side. This was mildly disappointing at the time, but actually they would have been fine as a starter if you were moving on to something more substantial. I was glad I'd ordered the chips as well though. Herself as usual went for the eponymous bivalve molluscs that are the house speciality. These were quite on the large side, and disappeared before I had a chance to get a picture of the bowl so must have been good! An Americano coffee to finish was of good strength and taste, even if it was only just over half a cup; presumably they were leaving a gap for the milk that I didn't ask for and don't want. Still, I guess if they'd topped it up with water it would be weaker and that would be almost as big a sin. The restaurant is quite large and was pretty empty on this particular lunchtime. They have a mezzanine area upstairs that you can rent for private groups, which would be great if you had enough folk who were seafood lovers.

The dinner rush at that time was small, and I looked over the menu. I went with fried haddock, hand-cut baked/fried chips, small white orbs of pickled onions, and tartar sauce. For my beverage I went with water with lemon in it. Prices were excellent (for example the pickled onions were less than one pound) and the servings were very large, I was happy I was hungry. For mains, it was the halibut and scallops for her; I tried the monkfish, although with some slight trepidation over the banana, green lentil and chickpea sauce. I needn't have worried though, it wasn't a very strong curry and actually worked really well with the monkfish and the haddock. Just enough room to squeeze in a dairy-free sorbet for me - they had a lovely cucumber sorbet that was served with the tuna tartare, so I tried that.
