We had a great attentive and "cheery" waiter as my aunt said to him on the way out "thanks for being cheery". Place was buzzing with gno, families & date nights. They had an extensive menu of tapas which reminded me of being back in Spain, & reminded me what's missing in my home town Spanish places back in NJ, USA! We all went for the 3 tapas specials so there was so much food it was ridiculous. We had one of just about everything! Ensalada Tinto - salad with mixed greens & goat cheese Patè de Higado de Pollo - liver pate, serrano ham, sweet onion & toast Pollo y Chorizo - chicken & chorizo with machego cheese & tomatoes Pincho de Pollo - skewers of chicken with peppers marinated in pimentos, lime & paprika Pollo y Serrano - chicken, peas, in white wine serrano cream Calamares - breaded calamari with garlic cream Gambes Pil Pil - jumbo prawns with chilies & garlic Langostinos - king prawns fried in smoke paprika batter with aioli Negra Ribs - pork ribs Patatas Bravas- crisp fried potatoes in a spicy tomato mayonnaise Garbanzo - chickpea & roast vegetable stew Tabla de Embutidos - meat & cheeses Very delicious food & good service Definitely would be back!

I regularly visit the restaurant in the south side and I am forever telling people how great it is but today everything felt rushed, had elements missing from the dishes and in some cases were just plain burnt. That's not to say there weren't highs the Bacalao was good as it always is, as were the Chicken Livers and Fabada. The Smoked Ham Hough Salad would have been great if all the ingredients were there but some missing white beans let it down. The Creme Catalana for dessert was lovely but this was not my best Tinto's experience. My tip, don't go on a Sunday lunchtime. UPDATE: I went to the Tinto's in East Kilbride again last week, It was a Tuesday night so every Tapas on the menu was £2.50 (not including the specials board). The food was better but there were still items missing from the menu and the Cheescake I ended up having for pudding (due to there being no creme catalana, a restaurant with no cream and sugar in it's kitchen!) was covered in a not very pleasant lemon and honey water. Battlefield Road remains the best version of Tinto's by some distance.

Drinks are always on offer and they are really quick with food and drink. Kids love it, the place is nicely decorated like a real Spanish cafe and the food, the other reviewer forgot to mention, is kick-ass, out of this world. The lamb you have to try! This sounds like I work here, I promise you I don't. I just had to defend them against a snobby review!

Myself and family attended 'Ola' one weekday evening. The meat dishes were fine, but vegetarians…read moreare looked at as if they fell from Mars and, frankly, a giant bowl of rice and peas passed off as a Vegetarian Paella simply shall not do. The portions are small - when they say Tapas they mean Tapas - and my own party, as well as one I spoke to on leaving, felt a bit ripped off. The set menus are recommended as, if you stray onto maitre de recommendations, you may find the bill balloon. The maitre de, a Spanish national I believe, has to curb his tactile histrionics - like Basil Fawlty crossed with Manuel - if all but lunching workies are going to enjoy themselves there. If you are used to chain restaurants with a Spanish or Hispanic theme, like Nando's or Chiquito's, 'Ola' will come as something of a shock. It does not know what it wants to be, it is a small business with chain aspirations and will have to work on a more welcoming atmosphere - the maitre de thinks sexism and sarcasm pass as this and the otherwise friendly Eastern European waitress needs training - and better deals if it is to survive. If you are not a drunken work's group or hen night, with the bill spread about many people, avoid!

I've been back quite a few times since my first review, but this place is slipping, to put it simply. When I was last here for dinner, it was ok, but not fantastically good as I had previously experienced. However, it was good enough to keep Tinto as a 3-star and not 2, which is what my most recent experience would definitely be rated as. Went for breakfast with some of my extended family (7 of us) on a Sunday morning and it was just so disappointing. While I appreciate we were a relatively large table, the rest of the place was *empty* so I wouldn't have expected this would be too much to cope with. However, when our dishes came out mostly a variety of cold and burnt, it put a right dampener on our gathering. I had been looking forward to ordering churros after my Croque Senor (this came out a bit burnt, and presented itself as merely a grilled sandwich slapped on a plate, not even cut through or anything...) but in all honestly, I was frightened to in case it ruined my previous love of Tinto churros. Our server was great and they did take the two worst plates off our bill which was nice of them, but everything just felt as if not very much care or effort had been put in at all. This place could be an excellent hub of activity on a usual dead Sunday morning in Uddy, it has so much potential but on this occasion, seriously failed to deliver.

I'd wanted to visit here for ages and had never made it - even though I'm a south sider, I don't end up in this part of Glasgow very often. I'd heard good things though, so made a booking for a Monday night and arrived excited. I was seated at a table I couldn't quite get into - the restaurant is large, but the tables are pretty close together so it's a little squishy. I can't imagine what it's like on a busy night! We went for the lazy option when ordering, the Chef's Recommendation (£26.95 for two people): salad, patatas bravas, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed chicken, lamb in white wine sauce, chicken croquettes, battered prawns and meatballs. The food arrived pretty much all at once which was great initially but it did mean some of the dishes were cold by the time we got to them! I didn't have a huge appetite and we didn't manage to finish it all so I'd definitely say it was good value for money! Stand out dishes for me was the battered prawns (although it was served with sweet chilli dip, sad times) and I also really liked the croquettes even though they were a little stodgy. I was happy with the food but my Madrid memories from the previous week were perhaps too strong of an influence as I wasn't really wowed by anything we had . The service was really warm and friendly and I felt like we were really well looked after. All up the meal was about £30 including a wine and couple of soft drinks which I think is pretty good value seeing as we couldn't even finish it all!

Do not be put off my the exterior (Casa Ole is above a chippy called Sammies) this place is gorgeous! We had booked a table of 9 for my birthday feast and it was nice that the table was ready for us as soon as we arrived, there was only a few other people inside but it was a rainy Wednesday night. The waitress took our coats which was nice too! Once the rest of our party had arrived we ordered some drinks and had a chat about what we fancied ordering - the good thing about a big party was the fact we had loads to try! We were served by a gentleman for most of the evening who I think was the owner and he could not have been any nicer, very chatty, knowledgeable, helped us in anyway he could and he checked back often to make sure everything was perfect. Our tapas dishes arrived a short while later to a chorus of oo's , aah's and what is that?!'s and we were not disappointed everything I tried was delicious but my favourites where the Chirizo, Gambas Gabardinas, morcilla and pinchos de atun. We were even given some olives (which the owners mother marinates for the restaurant), bread and oil to nibble on. After all this we were more then full but a brave few tackled a Desert of creme Catalan (which is sort of like creme brûlée) which was brought out with the sugar on top and the the sugar was caramelised with a little blow torch infront of us by our super server. As it was my birthday my parents had brought a surprise cake which was brought out after desert and I was serenaded in Spanish! Our waiter kindly offered to cut the cake and when I was brought back out with lovely slices on a saucer with whipped cream, raspberry sauce and sprinkled with icing sugar, how lovely was that?! After our food festival we were offered sla liquor on the house which I think was called estrella (like the beer!) and it was lovely, I got a double shot as I was the birthday princess! When we went to leave the server stood and chatted to us as we all showered him/the restaurant/the chef with praise. He was very modest and thankful. Im sure you have gathered by now that I am head over heels for Casa Ole! This place is truly special and I think everyone should try it! It's only £10 for 3 tapas and a desert or coffee on pre theatre or you can book on 5pm for the same deal!! Love, love, love... Love, love!

All the traditional tapas are here and all very, very good. If I were to single one out I would have to recommend the Morcilla (Spanish black pudding) which was totally amazing! The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the food and went the extra mile in making sure we had everything we wanted, exceptional good service. As part of a large group there was good opportunity to sample a wide variety of the dishes on offer and none of them fell short of the mark. A great evening and delicious food, all in all highly recommended. There are offers on the website for both lunchtime and evening dining so its very good value as well at just under £10 for 3 tapas and desert or coffee.

A wee review update and still a very strong 5 stars from me!…read more Cubatas is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow, I've now had countless meals here and enjoyed exceptional food and friendly, attentive service each time. We often take our little boy with us and they are so lovely to him, I order him a couple of dishes as soon as we arrive and these are brought out not long after we have him settled in his highchair and our drinks have arrived. It's brilliant as food keeps him occupied and we can relax and enjoy our food too. I force myself to order some dishes I haven't tried before - it's so easy to stick with the ones I have tried and I LOVE - and each time I discover another mouth watering dish. One of my new favourites is the pork cheek, melt in the mouth, jam packed full of flavour and so moreish. Added to some regular favourites such as the spicy prawns, paella, patatas bravas and their delicious salad dishes and you get a wonderfully varied meal. My top tip is to order a basket of bread for the table, the sauces and oils that accompany the dishes are divine and I love mopping them up with a chunk of soft fluffy bread. It's great going to Cubatas in a big group, with people who are happy sharing. My ideal would be to go and order one of everything off the menu, heaven :) These guys also do gift vouchers, I know as I bought my mum and dad some for Christmas. Let's start from the beggining, the restaurant deco is similar to my favourite restaurants in Madrid, modern, a little dark at night and full of typical products (cheese, wine, garlic, ham's leg). We were invited to wait at the bar to wait for a better table , and a super nice Spanish guy gave us recommendations about the wine and the ham. Just 5 minutes later we had our table ready. We ordered a verdejo wine, d.o rueda, a porron pot. As starter we ordered the Presa de lomo iberico and bread with olive oil. All of them was amaZing, the wine was perfect and the lomo was super tasty!! After that we ordered the tapas, difficult choice! The selection was: black rice with alioli, aubergine with honey, chorizo lolipops with alioli and ham croquetas. I can't say which one was the best, absolutely incredible, but the croquetas was same as the best in Spain!! Even the rice... To be honest it was like beign in Spain! Furthermore the Staff invited us to try the 3 hams selections and cheese with mojama. No words!! After that for sure it was dessert time: tarta de la abuela (chocolate, crumble...) another 5* The staff and service was excellent as well. To be honest, and not because I'm Spanish is the best restaurant I've tried in Glasgow! And the price was only £52 !!!! I want to go every single month!!!!!!!!

I had quite possibly one of the best takes on a fry up this morning, called the scone stack. It really is good. Potato scone, black pudding and square sausage. You have to see it to believe it. Also, the staff are friendly, even had a very eccentric person in this morning (not sure if he was the manager) seemed very upbeat and perhaps not gone to bed after the night out but very good humoured.

We'd booked in for dinner at 7.15pm on a Friday night and were seated by the door. There is outdoor seating (with leopard print throws for when it gets chilly, nice touch) which would be nice for a nice day. It got quite cold by the door after a while but thankfully a nice waiter offered to close it for us which was really appreciated. Our waitress was a little brisk but it seemed like she was run off her feet the whole night. The other staff we encountered were all friendly enough as well. Having a look over the menu I felt a little rushed to decide what to have but perhaps they wanted to turn our table over. The menu is a little odd, to be honest. Pasta dishes on a tapas menu? I just don't get it. There is also a selection of Brutti Bread Piccolo which I'm guessing is something like pinchos but never found out as the waitress didn't seem to have the time to answer questions. I avoided the section of the menu that baffled me and stuck with the more traditional tapas dishes: croquettes (cheese and bacon), pan catalan (tomato bread), peaceful prawns (butter and garlic prawns) and deep fried halloumi. Other dishes I tried thanks to my dining companions (Graeme H & Katie V) were chorizo, patatas bravas, albondigas and I'm sure there was also a squid/calamari dish that I can't see on the menu just now. The stand out delicious dish for me were the croquettes. Super crispy on the outside and really cheesy in the middle, these were really amazing. So much so, as I excited tucked into the last one I was proclaiming how much I loved them, only to find the last one was empty. Yes, just a shell of a croquette and no filling inside. It was hilarious/devastating. If they weren't so good, I probably wouldn't have said anything but seeing as I really wanted that last one, I told the waitress who got another portion bought over pretty quickly. I forgot to check the bill to see if we were charged for the extra portion. I hope not. Everything else was ok. The pan catalan was tasty, but perhaps needed more soaking time for the tomato into the bread (and to cover the whole piece of bread as well). The chorizo was crispy and almost a little burnt. The halloumi was really good, but nothing really outstanding in terms of being anything different. Dishes I wasn't impressed with: the peaceful prawns and the patatas bravas. The prawns were really bland tasting, I couldn't taste any garlic. The patatas bravas was more like a potato stew than crispy individual potatoes. And the albondigas was really hard, too hard for a meatball and it was pretty unpleasant to try to eat. The sauce was really nice though. When eating a tapas meal it can be easy to bypass the disappointing dishes, but now I've come to write the review there was quite a few things I didn't think were great. In terms of a cool place to go for a drink, I would definitely go here again. It's a nice space and had a really nice Friday night vibe. But I would hesitate about going here for tapas - although I would order those croquettes again, for sure! Edited to add: I would head to Brutti Ma Buoni rather than here as I found it much better overall! It's their sister restaurant, also in Merchant City.
