Ohhhhhh Tinto. Oh Tinto. I'm not sure what's happened over the past couple of years, but something…read moredefinitely seems to be missing. I've been back quite a few times since my first review, but this place is slipping, to put it simply. When I was last here for dinner, it was ok, but not fantastically good as I had previously experienced. However, it was good enough to keep Tinto as a 3-star and not 2, which is what my most recent experience would definitely be rated as. Went for breakfast with some of my extended family (7 of us) on a Sunday morning and it was just so disappointing. While I appreciate we were a relatively large table, the rest of the place was *empty* so I wouldn't have expected this would be too much to cope with. However, when our dishes came out mostly a variety of cold and burnt, it put a right dampener on our gathering. I had been looking forward to ordering churros after my Croque Senor (this came out a bit burnt, and presented itself as merely a grilled sandwich slapped on a plate, not even cut through or anything...) but in all honestly, I was frightened to in case it ruined my previous love of Tinto churros. Our server was great and they did take the two worst plates off our bill which was nice of them, but everything just felt as if not very much care or effort had been put in at all. This place could be an excellent hub of activity on a usual dead Sunday morning in Uddy, it has so much potential but on this occasion, seriously failed to deliver.

I give 5* because 10 or even 15 is not available!…read more Best Spanish meal in Glasgow by far!!! OMG! I can't describe here how good and real it is. Let's start from the beggining, the restaurant deco is similar to my favourite restaurants in Madrid, modern, a little dark at night and full of typical products (cheese, wine, garlic, ham's leg). We were invited to wait at the bar to wait for a better table , and a super nice Spanish guy gave us recommendations about the wine and the ham. Just 5 minutes later we had our table ready. We ordered a verdejo wine, d.o rueda, a porron pot. As starter we ordered the Presa de lomo iberico and bread with olive oil. All of them was amaZing, the wine was perfect and the lomo was super tasty!! After that we ordered the tapas, difficult choice! The selection was: black rice with alioli, aubergine with honey, chorizo lolipops with alioli and ham croquetas. I can't say which one was the best, absolutely incredible, but the croquetas was same as the best in Spain!! Even the rice... To be honest it was like beign in Spain! Furthermore the Staff invited us to try the 3 hams selections and cheese with mojama. No words!! After that for sure it was dessert time: tarta de la abuela (chocolate, crumble...) another 5* The staff and service was excellent as well. To be honest, and not because I'm Spanish is the best restaurant I've tried in Glasgow! And the price was only £52 !!!! I want to go every single month!!!!!!!!

Not really quite a 4 but I'm not going to mark them down just because I'd been to Madrid last week…read moreand ate some of the most heavenly Spanish food on the planet. So 4 stars it is. I'd wanted to visit here for ages and had never made it - even though I'm a south sider, I don't end up in this part of Glasgow very often. I'd heard good things though, so made a booking for a Monday night and arrived excited. I was seated at a table I couldn't quite get into - the restaurant is large, but the tables are pretty close together so it's a little squishy. I can't imagine what it's like on a busy night! We went for the lazy option when ordering, the Chef's Recommendation (£26.95 for two people): salad, patatas bravas, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed chicken, lamb in white wine sauce, chicken croquettes, battered prawns and meatballs. The food arrived pretty much all at once which was great initially but it did mean some of the dishes were cold by the time we got to them! I didn't have a huge appetite and we didn't manage to finish it all so I'd definitely say it was good value for money! Stand out dishes for me was the battered prawns (although it was served with sweet chilli dip, sad times) and I also really liked the croquettes even though they were a little stodgy. I was happy with the food but my Madrid memories from the previous week were perhaps too strong of an influence as I wasn't really wowed by anything we had . The service was really warm and friendly and I felt like we were really well looked after. All up the meal was about £30 including a wine and couple of soft drinks which I think is pretty good value seeing as we couldn't even finish it all!

Do not be put off my the exterior (Casa Ole is above a chippy called Sammies) this place is gorgeous! We had booked a table of 9 for my birthday feast and it was nice that the table was ready for us as soon as we arrived, there was only a few other people inside but it was a rainy Wednesday night. The waitress took our coats which was nice too! Once the rest of our party had arrived we ordered some drinks and had a chat about what we fancied ordering - the good thing about a big party was the fact we had loads to try! We were served by a gentleman for most of the evening who I think was the owner and he could not have been any nicer, very chatty, knowledgeable, helped us in anyway he could and he checked back often to make sure everything was perfect. Our tapas dishes arrived a short while later to a chorus of oo's , aah's and what is that?!'s and we were not disappointed everything I tried was delicious but my favourites where the Chirizo, Gambas Gabardinas, morcilla and pinchos de atun. We were even given some olives (which the owners mother marinates for the restaurant), bread and oil to nibble on. After all this we were more then full but a brave few tackled a Desert of creme Catalan (which is sort of like creme brûlée) which was brought out with the sugar on top and the the sugar was caramelised with a little blow torch infront of us by our super server. As it was my birthday my parents had brought a surprise cake which was brought out after desert and I was serenaded in Spanish! Our waiter kindly offered to cut the cake and when I was brought back out with lovely slices on a saucer with whipped cream, raspberry sauce and sprinkled with icing sugar, how lovely was that?! After our food festival we were offered sla liquor on the house which I think was called estrella (like the beer!) and it was lovely, I got a double shot as I was the birthday princess! When we went to leave the server stood and chatted to us as we all showered him/the restaurant/the chef with praise. He was very modest and thankful. Im sure you have gathered by now that I am head over heels for Casa Ole! This place is truly special and I think everyone should try it! It's only £10 for 3 tapas and a desert or coffee on pre theatre or you can book on 5pm for the same deal!! Love, love, love... Love, love!

Casa Ole is a slice of classic Spain... on Paisley Road West. The greeting is incredibly warm and…read morefriendly and is bettered only by the quality of the food. All the traditional tapas are here and all very, very good. If I were to single one out I would have to recommend the Morcilla (Spanish black pudding) which was totally amazing! Greeted by the sound of flamenco guitar as you enter, your senses are transported to a cosy cantina off the traditional tourist beat on the Iberian peninsular. Casa Ole simply oozes Spanish ambiance. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the food and went the extra mile in making sure we had everything we wanted, exceptional good service. As part of a large group there was good opportunity to sample a wide variety of the dishes on offer and none of them fell short of the mark. A great evening and delicious food, all in all highly recommended. There are offers on the website for both lunchtime and evening dining so its very good value as well at just under £10 for 3 tapas and desert or coffee.

A wee review update and still a very strong 5 stars from me!…read more Cubatas is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow, I've now had countless meals here and enjoyed exceptional food and friendly, attentive service each time. We often take our little boy with us and they are so lovely to him, I order him a couple of dishes as soon as we arrive and these are brought out not long after we have him settled in his highchair and our drinks have arrived. It's brilliant as food keeps him occupied and we can relax and enjoy our food too. I force myself to order some dishes I haven't tried before - it's so easy to stick with the ones I have tried and I LOVE - and each time I discover another mouth watering dish. One of my new favourites is the pork cheek, melt in the mouth, jam packed full of flavour and so moreish. Added to some regular favourites such as the spicy prawns, paella, patatas bravas and their delicious salad dishes and you get a wonderfully varied meal. My top tip is to order a basket of bread for the table, the sauces and oils that accompany the dishes are divine and I love mopping them up with a chunk of soft fluffy bread. It's great going to Cubatas in a big group, with people who are happy sharing. My ideal would be to go and order one of everything off the menu, heaven :) These guys also do gift vouchers, I know as I bought my mum and dad some for Christmas. We've taken them for dinner here a few times and they love it!

Prawns in garlic, fajitas, A pork dish, chicken with a batter and colorful sauce, meatballs and a massive paella, I'm sure there has been a few dishes I've missed. Feeling full yet? A tapas of deserts oh my goodness. A baileys cheese cake, check! Creme brûlée....check something that tastes of butterscotch. Tiramisu ooofffft! Some other spongy thing and a walnut cake. Man I've just re lived this experience....so good! Staff friendly and great food make this my perfect match!!

We arrived after the lunch rush, assuming it would be easy to get a table. We could be seated right away as long as we could finish our meal in 90 minutes. Evidently Cafe Andaluz is very popular even in the afternoon! I took this as a good sign that the food must be good then. Unfortunately more disappointing than I thought. We ordered the patatas bravas, calamari, gambas pil pil (king prawns roasted in olive oil, chilli, paprika and garlic) and pollo y panceta (skewers of chicken, pancetta and red onion marinated in chimichurri, with rocket, pine nuts and chimichurri salsa). I've had patatas bravas many times in Spain so was excited to see this on the menu. Cafe Andaluz's interpretation of patatas bravas is not as authentic. The potatoes were mushier rather than firm. The calamari was lukewarm and tasteless - like I was eating semi fried rubber. The real head scratcher was the pil pil. It looked appealing and promising but the whole dish was tasteless. The shrimp sat in red oil that was tasteless. There was zero garlic flavor. We were perplexed at how something colorful and vibrant would have no taste?! The only thing that truly redeemed this meal was the pollo y panceta. The garnishes and chimichurri helped enhance the dish. So all in all, an overpriced and mostly flavorless tapas late lunch that did **not** meet expectations.
