You could just have a bowl of ground beef at this place and find yourself in heaven. But no! They don't stop there. They load the plate with the freshest ingredients. The jalapeño in the guac was crisp and snappy. The lettuce was crunchy. But the MEAT. - omg. That flavor is cooked thru every morsel of the triple platter - chili relleno, taco, enchilada. Hungry yet? Well box up that food and order dessert!! The sopapillas are the perfect small treat for a low low price. I have this a four because the service could've been better. My husband and I decided to try this place out after driving by it several times. We are regulars at Plaza Mexico about 5 miles away from this place. We ordered the fresh Quac, he ordered tacos and I ordered the Talapia and Shrimp dinner. First of all the quac was poorly seasoned. It didn't have much taste other then the avocado itself. Then dinner came while it looked good it too had very little flavor, I had to salt the guac and my dinner to give it alittle flavor, except for the shrimp....they were great. I've never had to salt my Mexican food anywhere. My husband said the tacos were ok but the price was too high for the 3 little tacos he got. While eating my fish the outer edges were cooked, but when I got to the middle it was completely raw. Clear and rubbery which made me immediately lose my appetite. I will say that when I said something and showed our waitress she was very apologetic and offered to make me something to take home but since I didn't love the food anyway I said no. When she brought the bill she had taken of my whole dinner $18.00. However I did tip her for what our bill would've been. Don't recommend it, Plaza Mexico is by far a much better restaurant, they are very friendly. attentive and my family hasn't had one bad thing there. Maybe it was an off day, but I'm not so sure. Usually go to Plaza Mexico right in fallston for mexican but the service is usually terrible there so decided to try tacos tolteca this time and oh my it was amazing. It was fast and the server was attentive and friendly. The food truly was "fresh mex" and reasonably priced. I will defiantly go here for my mexican from now on. Highly recommended read more

I really wanted to give this place more stars. The Queso Fresca Tacos are good, the guac dip, chips and salsa are all yummy. Decor is nice. Service was friendly. HOWEVER- 8.99 for two small tacos is not acceptable. Each taco is literally two bites each. I was left wondering, where is my dinner?? My Husband didn't even eat 1/4 of his burrito by the time I was done. This place has promise but they need to do something about the amount of food you get for the price. Also- the menu shows pictures three tacos but there is a note that says "comes in pairs", poor advertising in my opinion. Our meal was great! Everything was so fresh and good. I had the shrimp burrito and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Our waitress was super sweet but there was a bit of a language barrier (which isn't a bad thing especially when you want good Mexican food). I'd love if they offered spicier versions of their food, though, to add more flavor rather than needing to add a bunch of hot sauce. They're applying for a liquor license so hopefully it won't be long before they can serve margaritas. The guacamole had a touch too much cilantro (but I'm not a big fan of cilantro). This was definitely better than La Tolteca! Prices were a touch on the high side for a Mexican place but I would absolutely go back!! read more

Nice to get chips and salsa when we sat down. Food is BLAND! Part of my meal was cold. Tomato sauce tasted like it came from a jar and had no flavor at all. My daughter got a steak bowl and said it smelled like the school cafeteria food and was tasteless. Server took $4 off the bill but her bowl was $12. Came here with my sons tonight looking for a good Mexican dinner. Our waiter was rude, the service was bad and the food just OK. I ordered tacos for $8.99 which came with no sides however when it came out, it was literally 2 small street tacos with nothing much on it. When I asked the waiter he was rude. I will never come back here or recommend it to anyone. Save yourself a disappointing meal and just go to La Tolteca, even when there's a long wait. read more

Mehhh. Went based on reviews and often driving by. First impression, cute. Outdoor seating nice and in some shade. Went inside. 6pm, Labor Day. Seated right away, given menus - mine was very greasy. Took a bit for waiter to come for drink order. He was very polite and brought chips/salsa/queso. Took our order right away as we were ready. Found the condiment containers to be as dirty as the menu. Don't know if it was an off day or new kitchen staff but found everything to be bland. Husband had chicken fajitas, while they looked pretty, he said they were flavorless. I had the combo plate. Two chicken burritos, Spanish rice & refried beans. Side of guacamole. Portions were nice. I like when there's not so much food I feel the need to stuff myself and I don't have anything left over for a doggie bag. There was a lot of water on my plate. Wet four tortillas. Rice tasted under-cooked and from a box. Refried beans were a little soupy and flavorless. Guacamole, the only flavor came from the heavy use of red onion. It's a local establishment. Been there twice and both times we really liked our food. Can not think of anything that was not satisfactory.

Place is a hot or miss. They missed the past few times in a row. The chips are not warm and on top of that they taste Stale . I think they keep the chips if they have them left over. The last time the Salsa tasted strange- Like bad strange. Usually it was good. I have given them too many chances. I am not going back. I dont really think they care. When they keep this up, more people will stop going there and they will go out of business and then wonder What went wrong?? read more

I ate there today and the food was terrible. My wife and I got the tacos supreme and could barely eat it. The chicken was so salty! Very expensive for what I received. I can only review on what I had. Maybe the other things on the menu were better, but very disappointed so far. I would recommend going to Chipotle instead. That is just my opinion. read more

This is the perfect casual neighborhood spot...something that is very much lacking in the Fallston, and even Bel Air area. It's the exact opposite of chains like Chili's and Texas Road House which serve reheated frozen processed food. Within minutes your order arrives and it is in-your-face freshness full of veggies and cooked-to-perfection meat. They offer you delicious chips with both salsa and white dipping sauce for free as soon as you're seated. The staff is friendly and attentive. I almost never leave reviews but I was so impressed by Tacos Tolteca both times I visited that I had to share! My only recommendation to the owners would be to dim the lights a bit for better ambiance. Other than that, everything is perfect! Can't wait to sit outside in the summer! read more

I ordered one beef taco and one beef burrito. The beef had no flavor at all. Not one bit. Not even salt. Our food arrived very quickly so I thought perhaps they forgot to season the beef. My husband ordered the tacos supreme which came with steak. The steak was flavorless as well. Will not be going back. We will stay with El Salto for our Mexican food. read more

Love love love this place! My husband & I came here for a quick & tasty dinner & it exceeded our expectations! Service was great, & the guacamole was heavenly & so fresh. You can tell all the food is fresh & not cooked in butter & oil like other local Mexican restaurants. They also have outside seating which is always nice! Also, my husband & I agreed the salsa was the absolute BEST!!! Definitely worth every penny. Had the veggie enchiladas on Sunday & wow! delicious! & came with a side avocado salad. Went there last night with a few friends and I have to say it was just ok. The soft tacos came wrapped in foil and were wet and soggy. Hard to pick up. Another person got corn tacos with shrimp and the same thing happened she couldn't pick them up again soggy. Another person got a taco salad and it too was soggy? Will not be going back. The cooks should be draining the meat or shrimp before loading them as it just makes everything soggy. Really disappointed as the other Tolteca restaurants have great food. read more

That seemed reasonable, as there were only a handful of people waiting. Well, after a good 25 minutes we were still waiting. Also, people were coming in and being seated right away. By this time, at least a dozen people had entered and were all squeezed into the too small area by the front door. Needless to say, we left. The inside is nicely decorated and everyone is very friendly. We were seated very fast, our drinks came out almost immediately. But that's where the positive experience ended. Everything I ordered was wrong. I understand the drink error (asked for root beer, I got beer) because the waiter had a very thick accent and he probably understood me just as well as I understood him. But when it came to my food, I pointed to the item on the menu. I don't know what I got, but it was definitely not a beef taco and chicken burrito. It also took a long time to come out considering how many people were here at the time. But I ate it anyway because I was really hungry. The food was very bland, and it was barely warm by the time I got it. My girlfriends dinner was very salty. And no one ever stopped by to see if our food was right or if we needed anything else. I saw this place had just opened a month ago so we decided to give it a try. We went on a Saturday afternoon at around 3:00. The place was about 1/2 full. It is new, clean and nicely decorated. A good first impression, But we stood inside the door for 15 minutes without anyone recognizing we were there. The staff walked by us many times, not a word. Even a welcome or a "we will be with you shortly" would have helped, but not even a smile. We were finally seated right by the door and had a chance to see how others were greeted upon arrival. Unfortunately our experience of being ignored and long waits was repeated by everyone who came in. One we were finally seated, service continued throughout our stay at a very disappointing level. Long long waits for chips, then drinks, the ordering, then the food. We had the Tacos Supreme. The portion sizes were adequate but the chicken was unseasoned and rubbery. The chips and salsa were great. The Dragon Shrimp was excellent as well. Would like to give it another try and explore other menu items but the absolutely dismal service has to be fixed. read more

Went on a Friday night, place was almost empty. Seated at a table that wobbled, so they moved me to a different table. Served complimentary chips and salsa, salsa was ok but chips were stale and a bit greasy. Burrito choice is limited and are priced with more expensive proteins like steak or shrimp, no option listed for chicken. They did let me swap the shrimp for chicken, but still charged the shrimp price! Food came out fast, but was uninspired and on par with a fast food burrito joint. Rice was cold and hard. Chicken was lukewarm. Both were obviously cooked ahead and thrown together. If it wasn't for the queso sauce, the entire thing would have been tasteless. Presentation was also lackluster and served on a weird, awkward oblong metal tray that left no room for cutting it up and eating. As I was finishing up, waitress stopped by to ask if I wanted dessert, told her I wasn't sure. A minute later, she came by with the check, I guess she decided for me.
