Yoooooooooo. First a little background about myself. I was fortunate enough to grow up in the greater LA area. Meaning that throughout the years, I have been able to try dozens upon dozens of great taco stands, trucks, and restaurants; so I'd like to think that I have some credibility when it comes to what are good tacos and what are bad tacos. Being spoiled with all these wonder establishments, I didn't expect to find any good tacos outside of SoCal. Man was I proved wrong! Taco Sinaloa caught my attention while I was browsing Eaters guide to the East Bay. Two things cemented my visit here: having a location in Berkeley and being part of the Michelin Guide. The fricken Michelin Guide. My mindset before coming here was, "how good could this place possibly be?" The answer: fantastic. These babies are served on two tortillas, topped with your protein of choice and covered with salsa. Squeeze some lime on top to brighten them up. For meat I normally go with the al pastor since it's extremely flavorful. I introduced my roommate to Taco Sinaloa through the al pastor and he must have been here at a minimum of one time per day for a week. The drinks they serve here are not their strong suit. I got the strawberry hotchata a couple times and it tasted a little bit too diluted for my liking. No points taken off from me though since drinks are a bonus in my eyes. What really matters is the food and it's definitely something they do great at. If you're grabbing take out here I'd recommend getting a burrito instead. By the time you get to your destination the smaller tortillas used for tacos would be soggy. If it's your first visit, I'd create a "taco flight" with four tacos using four different types of meats. Comes out to be a bit cheaper (4 x $2) than a burrito ($8.50) and you can sample different flavors to see what you like. The place is small and difficult to get seats during peak hours. Best tacos around campus! Tacos Sinaloa was on Michelin's Bib Gourmands for the SF Bay Area in 2018, which, for those who don't know, is awarded to restaurants delivering a "high quality dining experience at a reasonable price." Their carne asada, lengua, and carnitas are my go-to meats for my tacos. The carne and lengua are always reliable, and the carnitas are so tender and crispy on the outside. The burritos are also incredibly filling as well. I also love the pickled carrots they give you alongside your order. I would warn against the carnitas burrito though unless you have a place to sit down to eat and a ton of napkins. Last time I got it, it was super delicious but also super oily :( The interior is quite small -- there's a bar area along the front and one that stretches down the kitchen. Not the best place to sit and eat with a large group of friends but a great place to pick up food if you're looking to satisfying any taco cravings! read more

Solid location! They also have a food truck located in Oakland and they're famous for having the curry family their local customers! 1. Carne asada: very well seasoned, just wish they added some more char to it and more of a fat ratio to the meat. Other then that, they give you a lot of carne. 2. Al pastor: not the best pastor ive tried.. i dont like red sauce that will over throw the unique dry taste of pastor. I technically like my pastor dry and charred served with pineapple. So i would recommend this (if you like saucy as pastor by all means). 3. Lengua: very juicy lengua, not too chewy very tender meat. Has that lengua taste to it, and i love that! Sauce that goes with it is superb! Definitely recommend! 4. Suadero (brisket): Probably one of the best suadero ive tried in the East Bay! Very crispy charred meat! I just didnt like the smell of it, it had a strange taste to it! But none the less this meat is really good, i like the crispy texture. Dining is a little small inside parking can be scarce on busy nights. On not so busy nights you can find parking for free after 6 on the street! The food is no nonsense, no frills, and good, but food portions are extremely extremely small. The taco tortillas are like maybe 3 1/2 inches wide? The other difficulty with dealing with them is there's no option to add toppings or communicate with the restaurant when you are DoorDashing them, so if you have any food allergies, you are SOL. Decent no frills if you are in a hurry, don't expect anything fancy and their packaging tends to be flimsy. read more

The suadero taco here is the best meat here for sure. I wouldn't get anything else. Asada is okay. Pastor is trash. I enjoyed the sudero because it's crispy and pretty good. I like the hot sauce too. Not too spicy not too bland. The tortilla is decent. The size of the taco is medium. Not too big not too small. Overall, I enjoyed the sudero taco and this place. Tacos Sinaloa is a great spot for tacos or burritos! I usually get their Fish burrito, or their fish/shrimp tacos. Their fish comes in small fried cubes, and in the burrito form, it is accompanied by rice, beans, and enough sour cream for the burrito not to taste too dry. The tacos come with the fish/shrimp, pico de gallo, and chopped jalapeno bits on top of two layers of tortilla. The jalapeno bits vary in quantity, but sometimes they can add quite the kick to each taco. I have also tried their super burrito before, and at 12 dollars each, it's quite a steal because it's enough for two meals. That being said, I did take on the task of eating it in one sitting, and even for my appetite, it got to be a bit much at the end. Just be aware that sometimes (especially when school is not in session), their hours can be a bit fickle, contrary to what the hours say on Yelp or Google. read more

Finding the taco without killing the bank isn't easy let me tell you. I eventually settle for a loan and got me some Sinaloa tacos. I opted for the torta which was a massive greedy monster filled with asada and killed la dieta. I do not regret this delicious behemoth because it was what I needed to feel less alone that night. Tacos Sinaloa serves some pretty good food- probably one of the better Mexican cuisines here in Berkeley. I usually come for their tacos, but recently found a liking for their shrimp ceviche. The tacos here are okay: Tacos Sinaloa gives you large quantities of meat, but a downside is that their tacos are on the smaller side. However, their ceviche is a different story. I love the seafood at Tacos Sinaloa, as they give you large chunks of meaty shrimp, complimented with the onions and tomatoes. If you're looking for something more spicy, they give you a few packs of Tapatio sauce to put into the shrimp ceviche- absolutely delicious. I've never had their burritos before, but my friends always order it and say that you really get your money's worth. If you order the super burrito, it's around a foot long; personally I'd never be able to finish it, but for those with larger appetites, the super burrito is perfect for you! I come to Tacos Sinaloa whenever I want a quick lunch. Service can be a bit slow during peak lunch hours, but I usually go around 2pm, so there aren't any lines. What I love more about Tacos Sinaloa is that they have lengua, agua fresca, and the pickled veggies. What is the point of having a phone and a number if I call 10 times and there's no response? Today there was a lady who answered 2 of my 10 calls and then just kept saying "Hello, hello" and pretending not to hear me. I say pretending bc she wouldn't pick up the phone for the many times I called and when she did she just kept saying "hello" even though she sort of pushed when I started talking. This place has clear phone issues and capacity issues. I find it hard to believe it was my end but I checked and my microphone worked. Usually there isn't any seats open, and the line of people waiting or ordering food, crowd the the standing space. For around $3 dollar for taco you can pick which ever meat you want. The best tacos are probably the carnitas with chicken being a close second. The tacos are topped with green onions, cilantro, and salsa. The tacos can sometimes have too much liquid which makes it hard to eat them. For under $10, the burrito is pretty good as well, and can be quite filling as it's stuffed with your choice of meat. One plus is that they provide peppers, pickled vegetables, and lime. Overall, it's an alright place to eat tacos, just don't expect them to be the best. It can get pretty busy around meal times but customers can now order ahead on the Snackpass app. [ Chicken Burrito ] This thing is huge and can honestly last for two meals! The chicken is flavorful and tender, but definitely on the greasier side. The beans, rice, and cheese blend together nicely. The burrito comes with a side of radishes and pickled carrots. I come from SoCal, the land of gr8 Mexican food, so I didn't really have high expectations when I came to Tacos Sin for the first time. And it took me the longest time to finally come try this place. My tastebuds were thoroughly impressed. Tacos are $2.00 each, and the specialty meats are an additional $0.25. They come with your choice of meat, cilantro, onion, and salsa. They even give you lime, pickled jalapeño, radish, and carrots. Meats: asada (steak), bucho (pork stomach), cabeza (beef head), carnitas (fried pork), chorizo (Mexican sausage), pastor (spicy pork), pollo (chicken) Specialty meats: lengua (beef tongue), suadero (roast meat), tripitas (chitlins), camaron (shrimp), pescado (fish) ¡Mmm guau¡ Los tacos estuvieron muy sabrosos. I usually get a plate of 3-5 fish tacos and leave feeling stuffed as heck. They have a unique take on them here. It's kinda like the fish is fried in a special way. I looove the salsa. You can even ask for an extra side of it. I've also tried the tacos de camaron (shrimp). They were pretty good, but I've had better...nothing special. The shrimp was nice and firm but not soft enough for my liking :( gonna stick to my fish tacos. Another one of my favorite items here is the veggie breakfast burrito. My friend and I went to Tacos Sinolola to have lunch two weeks ago. The food was an excellent meal, it had lots of flavors and it was hot and fresh. We both had two different burritos, one was a super chicken burrito with a Sprite and a vegetarian burrito with a Horchata. I had a welcomed surprise when my veggie burrito had a mild spice to it. The super burrito also had lots of flavor in the chicken, and a good spice level, and the salsa was great. In addition, they had great horchata. At some point, I came back later that day to ask for a receipt so that I could keep track of my spending and the woman working there was very friendly and helped me out. One of my favorite places in the Bay outside of the SF mission district, which due to COVID-19 I've not been using BART to go into the city for the infamous El Farolito, Tacos Sinaloa however is comparable in quality for the East Bay folks. I got a burrito with 1/2 El Pastor, 1/2 Carnitas and it was amazing. The El Pastor was juicy and tender, was well balanced in spicy, sweet and savory flavors. The Carnitas was slightly crispy and balanced out the robust flavor and fattiness of the El Pastor well. I'd recommend getting half and half because of the way each meat individually effects both the flavor and texture of the overall burrito. They also give you roasted peppers, lime, pickled carrots. The fresh lime squeezed on each bite adds a nice acidity that brings everything together well. The rice was moist and had a gentle yet pronounced flavor of tomato and spices, the cheese was very flavorful as well. Although it's a little on the pricy side for a burrito (mine was $12 for regular meats), the quality is well worth and the portion sizes won't leave you hungry ! read more

The customer service was good as the guy at the register was pleasant. Soon after I got my food and began to dig in, I began to be slightly disappointed. After eating through half of my carne asada burrito, I did not find any meat (see pic). Mostly rice and beans to this point. I've been here a few times in the last hand-full of weeks, and I'm pretty positive about this place. Against, because the bad news should come first: a) It's on Telegraph in Berkeley. This means crappy street conditions to include but not limited to Hare Krishnas, bums, beggars, thieves, lurkers, urchins, pretend-urchins from the hills, layabouts, mountebanks, Those Who Know What's Best For You, academics, communists, and drunks. b) Students: Yes, this place is popular with students so if you come during lunch time, expect students to flood the place. c) Certain items are deemed "to go," and get a special bag that they will charge you for. There's doesn't seem to be any choice in the matter, though in the plus column the fee is only $.11 and the bag is a fine one. Can you bring in your own bag and avoid paying the fee? I don't know. The good: a) The food's good: I've only had the asada burrito, but it's on a par with the taco truck outside of The Hotsy Totsy and worth giving a whirl. b) Better than Berkeley Nice: After so many instances in Telegraph restaurants where the help is, at best, hostile to one's presence, it's refreshing to go to a place where the employees actually try to be friendly and helpful. I haven't had a bad experience yet, and that's saying something. c) Reasonable prices: Yeah, I know, everything is super fucking expensive these days, but relative to what others are charging, the prices here are reasonable. Nothing to write home about to be sure, biut still within the realm of what's acceptable. A special alert for the superburrito, though. They ask $14 (plus tax and the special $.11 bag), but the thing is huuuuuuge. If you think of this foot long monstrosity as two burritos in one tortilla, you're spending less than if you were to buy the burritos separately. So, four (4) stars. This place was just alright. I was really looking forward to trying this place knowing how popular the food truck is in East Oakland! Honestly, the tacos we ordered (lengua, carne asada, and carnitas) were not bad! They are your authentic street tacos you get from a taco truck. I mean, their main IS a taco truck, so I was expecting the consistency. The lengua was tender and juicey, they were good. However, the main disappointment was that there were no guacamole or chips available! There is also no salsa bar or anything like that so I can fulfill my salsa cravings. There are just some missing items on the menu (like salsa, guac, chips) that made our experience here lacking. I'm giving Tacos Sinaloa five stars because of what I usually order here - so I can't speak for the things I don't get! Okay, my usual meal here is: horchata and spicy pork tacos/burrito. If you get a super burrito here, MAN that thing is HUGE!! Could fill you up for a whole day! (jk depends how much you eat) but seriously it's ginormous. The spicy pork also isn't really that spicy so don't let the name fool you - but it's so delicious - so moist and tender, YUM! And I love the jalapeno and pickled carrots that come on the side. They're literally game changers and make up the taste of the whole thing. As for the horchata, the taste varies from day to day (some days it's more watery), but man it's goooooood, the cinnamon taste isn't too strong and it's perfectly sweet. This is my favorite Mexican joint around UC Berkeley. They have almost every type of taco you can think of: lengua, cabeza, al pastor.....the list goes. The tacos pack a whopping punch of flavor. The meat is juicy and the respective sauces pair well with meat. The tortillas were solid and didn't tear but weren't too thick to the point where it felt like a burden to eat. On the flipside, the prices were dramatically higher than what I was used to in Southern California. In Santa Ana, I'd be able to get tacos for $0.50-$1. While at Tacos Sinoloa, they ran me at least $2.50. Granted they did have more put into them than normal street tacos, it is a significant difference. Moving onto the sides, the peppers were on point but the beets fell far short. They were dry and lacked the I usually expect. But overall they make great tacos so come give it a try! read more

The layout consists of a self-service water station with some tables and red seats. The prices are really cheap, affordable for college students, for some delicious high-quality Mexican food! I love their tostada with shrimp ceviche because of the tanginess and how fresh the ingredients taste! The quesadillas are also cheesy and filled with loads of meat! Tacos Sinaloa is located on Telegraph Ave, a few blocks from the edge of UC Berkeley campus. I've been here for dinner around 3-4 times, getting the regular-sized vegetarian burrito, the regular-sized shrimp burrito, and the giant-sized shrimp burrito. The most recent time I came was for the giant shrimp burrito -- it was 'dead week' at Berkeley and my friend and I needed food to take back to campus. I called Tacos Sinaloa probably around 15 times without an answer. I was about to go to Gypsy's, but Tacos finally picked up. I ordered the food (a regular-sized vegetarian burrito for her) and picked up the food from the restaurant within 15 minutes. I've had friends challenge one another to finish a giant burrito in one meal, but I never expected it to be as big as it was. The burrito went from the tip of my fingers to about an inch before my elbow for a length of just over a foot. It took me two meals to finish that burrito -- dinner that night and breakfast the next morning. Overall, the burrito was pretty tasty. My shrimp were a little cold despite being made fresh and the burrito was more rice than it was beans/vegetables/shrimp. Every meal also comes with pickled vegetables, so I ate those along with my burrito to give it more taste. Overall, I would recommend coming here for the vegetarian burritos. The seafood burritos aren't worth the price ($16 for that giant shrimp burrito) given the cost, but the vegetarian burritos are. Berkeley does not have a lot of great Mexican food (La Burrita, Cafe Durant, Taco Bell, etc.), and so I would rate Tacos Sinaloa pretty high compared to those. But being from SoCal and so close to San Diego where the Mexican food is hella authentic and delicious for cheaper prices, I can't rate Tacos Sinaloa more than average. I recommend ordering ahead because the place is kinda small. There's not a lotta room to sit and wait or eat your food, and it usually takes quite a while to make because the place is busy with students. read more
