I'm here to say publicly for the world to see. I don't like this place... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! If you're in the area, you must stop by and have a bite to eat here. We hosted a client event at Tacos N Beer in Monroe this evening, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. AJ was incredible to work with. He was quick to call us back when we were initially searching for a location and stayed just as responsive and helpful throughout the entire planning process. He answered all of our questions, helped us customize the event exactly how we wanted, and made everything feel easy. They gave us plenty of time to set up beforehand, which made a huge difference, and the space itself was perfect for hosting. Our clients loved the atmosphere, and the food was absolutely delicious. Was walking around downtown when we stumbled across this place. It was a Tuesday so we figured we would stop in for a quick lunch. It was amazing!! I got the tacos chipotle and it was amazing. The salsa and chips they gave were also amazing. The food was so fresh every ingredient was delicious you could taste how fresh they were. I rarely leave bad reviews but whew, this was interesting. If you don't like flavor, this is the place for you! The Chile relleno is literally just flavorless beef and cheese mixture with a tiny sliver of pepper thrown in. Conveniently coated in cheese so you can't tell! When mentioned to the server, he said "oh ya we don't do a pepper like other places".....? Everything else tasted like there was no seasoning added. Met my family here for dinner tonight! ***LOCATION*** Love that this is in downtown Monroe. My parents live right down the street and there aren't tons of things to do out in Monroe lol. So having a good Mexican restaurant is always a plus. There is plenty of parking, all free. You can park outfront on the street or in the lot just down the street behind the hair salon, in front of the Monroe mural. If that smaller lot is full, across the street is city hall with plenty of free parking. ***EXPERIENCE*** The experience was alright. We walked in and they told us we could "sit over there" and then no one came to get our drink order for 15 minutes. Someone finally came and we went ahead and ordered food as well. The food came out pretty quickly. There seems to be upstairs seating, but we didn't go check in out. There are a decent amount of tables downstairs and also outdoor seating that would be nice in the summer. ***STAFF*** Normal. Nothing exceptional, but not rude by any means. ***PRICE*** The price was not bad! Only 9.99 for my dish in the photo. I got option B on the vegetarian list! It came with an enchilada, chalupa, and beans. ***FOOD/DRINKS*** Vegetarian B was not bad, but it was nothing amazing. It tasted like every basic Mexican restaurant. The name Beer and Tacos made me think it would be a bit more of a taco-focused place with specialty tacos or something, but it is a standard Mexican place with a huge menu and tons of choices. Liked seeing the vegetarian section! Also like that they have choices for everyone, but the menu can be overwhelming. They have a food challenge, if you are interested in that (see photo). Their chips and salsa are decent. The chips were a good thickness and salty and the salsa was mildly spicy but had a bit too much of a hot sauce taste rather than a salsa. Not because it was spicy, but more flavor-wise if that makes sense. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't my fave. I prefer when it is slightly chunkier with tomatoes and onions. This one was very soupy. 6/10. ***CONCLUSION*** Would definitely still come here frequently as it is the closest restaurant to my parents house. Anytime we go out, I am sure we will come here, since there aren't too many options and my parents aren't a fan of The Roe or Silver Queen (the other popular restaurants on the square area). On the plus side the ambience, service and cleanliness of the restaurant were spot on. The server was attentive without being overwhelming. The tastiest part of the meal was the sweet tea which was outstanding. The entree was good. with fresh ingredients. The only negative was that the food was lightly seasoned or unseasoned, which detracted some from the meal. My companion had the chicken taco salad which she devoured. So perhaps my complaint may be with the ground beef which was a main in ingredient in my entree. I will be back. The place has a good vibe and an extensive menu which surprised me, because of the name. read more

This restaurant is located on the main strip in downtown Monroe. We were able to get parking in front of the restaurant, but there is a parking lot across the street if you're not able to find parking. It was a Sunday afternoon at 1 PM. When we first walked in, the hostess greeted us and seated us right away. You do receive complimentary chips and salsa. We ordered queso dip as well. The salsa was probably the best I've ever had. It was very flavorful and the chips were hot and fresh. Our server was great! He was friendly and attentive. The food was meh. I order the Pollo Mezquite and it was very bland. Also parts of the chicken wasn't cooked all the way. I ordered a mango margarita and it was nice and strong. Just the way I like it. LOL. My husband ordered buffalo chicken tacos with fries and he enjoyed his meal. The chicken was probably the only thing I didn't like. Overall, we had a good dining experience. It pains me to leave this review as we have been regulars at this restaurant and have watched it steadily improve and become a favorite. We even supported them when the liquor license got revoked. The other night, however, we came here celebrating a birthday and the food was way sub-par. My wife and daughter ordered chicken quesadillas (which one would think would be fool proof). What came out looked like tortillas thrown In a toaster oven... and zero chicken. I ordered chile rellenos, which I have ordered several times in the past. What I got was a small smear of beans, covered in cheese, that frankly, had to have come out of a microwave. When I complained to our waiter he blew it off and said, "that's what a chile relleno is". I was born in Southern California and frickin' know what a chile relleno is... it has a chile!! I would have pushed him but did not want to cause a scene. Id give this place 3.5 stars if i could. It was good, but not great. The service was pretty slow- we waited about ten minutes before someone came to our table to even get our drink orders. The atmosphere inside was also nothing special, but it was clean! I was surprised (and appreciative) of the vegetarian section on the menu because not a lot of places have that. The menu in general had an overwhelming amount of options- definitely something for everyone. I will probably be back because of the convenient downtown location, but I wouldn't say i'd go out of my way to come here specifically. read more

My mom and I tried this because our favorite pizza place in Monroe closed, . We were not disappointed!! I accidentally ordered something called the "big ass burrito" and HOLY COW!!! It was bigger than my head! But oh my goodness was it delicious! I chose steak instead of ground beef and chicken and passed on the salsa verde and instead got the red sauce all over the burrito. I also asked for medium heat. This is by far the best burrito I've ever put in my mouth. Therefore I was not disappointed at how large it was, my whole family ate for days on this thing!! The food is very good and you will get fast service because the restaurant isn't too big. A little pricey but molto bene.

Just tried Tacos and Beer downtown and was very pleased. Apparently the same owner as Cocino Fuentes across town and a similar main menu. However they had an alternative menu that had burgers. I had a Santa Fe burger and it was excellent. Very Fresh. I think it was just as good if not better than LR Burger. Another great option in town whether you want traditional Mexican Menu or a burger menu. We will be back read more
