First time trying this location. We've been to the one in Altadena and from what I remember, it is pretty much the same quality. I'm bummed because I ordered a mix burrito which says on their menu it is a mix of shrimp and fish. When I got home, my burrito had meat and God knows what else in it. I didn't even eat it. Gave it to my husband. Also ordered 2 fish tacos. EH!! Nothing to write home about. Lacked flavor and were so tiny!! I make better ones at home. Hubby got the campechana burrito and a shrimp cocktail. He has frequented the Altadena location as he was always on the field out there and they would stop and get lunch there, that was his go to order. He likes it...but then again he isn't picky lol. Kids got nachos and chicken nuggets. Those were typical, nothing great. They don't like seafood so that's what they got. They have a pretty big menu and I can only speak for what I tried today and my experience. Honestly, I wouldn't come back. We got 2 burritos, 4 tacos, nachos, nuggets, 2 drinks and a shrimp cocktail for $80. I know it's seafood and it can be pricey but there are far way better seafood places...not in Alhambra though! It was Taco Tuesday and I was on the hunt for tacos! My boyfriend and I just moved nearby the area. We were ready to explore. I "yelped" it and found Tacos Ensenada on Valley Blvd. I knew it might have been busy since it was around 6 pm so I called in for 5 Fish Tacos and 1 Asada Burrito. The total came out to only $15! What a great price for a delicious meal! Upon arriving, I went to the pick-up line and my food was ready. I paid and noticed a section to the side of the pick-up window. The section was free of jalapenos, lemon, and onions! How great! It's all you can serve yourself so you bet I took a lot of jalapenos. All of these items were fresh and delicious. The Fish Tacos and Asada burritos were still warm when I arrived home. I thought the Fish Tacos would be the star of the meal, however, I was pleasantly surprised that the Asada Burrito took the gold star! This was my go to spot. I moved to Alhambra in 2020. I live 20 yards from this place. In 2020 I used to get 2 asada burritos 2 tacos and a jaiva tostada for 24 bucks. My girl just sent me downstairs and I got 4 asada tacos for 14 bucks. Not only has their price increased but the quality of their food has decreased. There's a reason why our new go to spot is now the taco truck in front of Ralph's on Atlantic. Save yourself some money and go somewhere else unless you go in their special days. read more

I've been here a few times now and I have to say this might be your best bet for quick and tasty tacos in the Alhambra/Monterey Park area. I always get the potato taco combo. The cabbage and tomato are always fresh and the salsa is perfectly spicy. I think the best deal is to go for whatever the 2 for 1 special of the day is (fish tacos on Tuesdays and meat tacos on Thursdays). I also recommend calling ahead to speed up the process but even if you order at the counter, I've never waited more than 5-10 minutes. There are plenty of tables outdoors that they keep pretty clean so you can enjoy your tacos right there or you can take them to go. There is no indoor seating here! It can also get pretty crowded outside with a lot of people waiting for orders but they seem to move pretty quickly. read more

They were my go-to taco spot when they were running their 99 cents tacos every day (except Tuesdays). I've found the carne asada taco the best, followed by the pastor and then the pollo. BF and I had higher hopes for the pollo as the meat itself was pretty lean, but every time we ordered it, it was always pretty wet and just too moist for our liking. But for the price, we couldn't complain. There's a 3% service charge for using credit card, so we pay in cash. Plenty of parking in their parking lot. read more

It was a Tuesday and my friend and I wanted tacos. I said I'd like fish tacos, and she said let's go here (I've never been before, but she has). I initially said a place I wanted to go, but she said this place is good (but not as good as the place I suggested) but has larger quantities. So I said sure let's try it. They have a parking lot in back. When you walk up to the front, it's shaded for the ordering and waiting area. The menu is on the wall. There's a window for ordering and there's a window for pickup. They have social distancing signs. They also have signs that ask for exact change, and note that there's a 3% service fee for debit and credit cards. My friend told me to ask for all the condiments when we pick up our order. She said they won't give it to you if you don't ask. I asked why's that. She said well it used to be out in the open for people to take what they wanted pre-covid. Then now if you ask they give you a bundle with all the condiments. I said what if I only wanted a specific one? She said no, just say you want the condiments and take all of them (she would take any of the ones I didn't want). So I didn't like that they didn't have a sign or ask if I wanted any when I picked up my order. But I'm so glad that my friend gave me the heads up. My friend was right about the food - they gave a little bit more than the place I initially suggested. And the flavor was good but not as good as the first place I suggested. But it was all still good and hit the spot. The toppings were good. But my friend told me the peppers weren't spicy so I bit into them freely. The second one I had was very spicy where I immediately stopped eating and started fanning my mouth! I think I never write bad reviews, but this time i think I might have to, just to avoid people of getting sick. Where should I start?! Upon arriving 8/11/2023 1:05pm notice 2 ceviche plates ( flies all over it ) at pick up area and cook calling out number 19 . Then I ordered my food , got my food and plates still there over 10 minutes went by, I sat down and started eating my food, then I saw the most disgusting thing ever. The ceviche plates were taken back in by cook and placed back into the food that was ready to serve to other customers. This is why people ( customers ) get sick .... Tacos Ensenada throw it away ! In the SGV, there are multiple fish taco places, so the competition is fierce. One perk of this place that sets this place apart from the other Mexican restaurants is that Tuesday is 1 dollar tacos. Again, still having a dollar taco for fish taco Tuesday is still not game changing, this puts them in the competition still. From the outside of this place, it's really really small. The parking lot doesn't have that many spaces and you have outdoor seating only. Just be cautious about that if you don't like sitting outdoor. Secondly, the menu seems inclusive of different kinds of items. For this test, I only tried the Fish tacos. I ordered four for myself as four is usually a good number for me to eat. Upon ordering, if you plan to use a debit or credit card, they charge a 3% surcharge. It's not waved if you purchase over x amount of dollars. Disappointed in that fact. The salsa bar is outside and it's literally left wide open. I don't know how clean that is but it's questionable. There's no sneeze guard or anyone tending to it to prevent flies from getting to it. The fish taco themselves were okay. Nothing extraordinary but they tasted good. I didn't get sick from eating it so that's a plus. I ordered some beef, pork, & fish tacos to share with my husband and we both enjoyed the fish one the most. We also got the shrimp cocktail which was also pretty good. It was just the fish and toppings with the sauce... How can you forget the tortilla when that's the first thing you start with to assemble the taco!?! The fish was also soggy and did not seem fresh however, the lettuce and tomatoes were ok. Keep in mind, they did not have taco specials either so these were full price and there was no one waiting in line until about five minutes after I placed my order. Finally decided to check out this taco spot and reading the reviews I was bracing myself for a rude, eye rolling cashier. It must have been her day off because the lady I encountered was direct and prompt. I also observed her being really patient with an elderly man with lots of questions about the menu. On to the food, I ordered the two fish tacos plate, a carne asada wet burrito, and a chicken quesadilla plate. The fish tacos were good, I like the way their cabbage is shredded so finely. The chicken quesadilla was packed with really tender pieces of chicken and my daughter enjoyed it, it was a huge portion good to share with two or three kids. Certain things spark joy in my life, and fish tacos happen to be one of them. I am of the utmost belief that the more hole-in-the-wall the location, the better the tacos. This Tacos Ensenada location occupies a small, unassuming shack on Valley Blvd, with just a few seats for dine-in if you insist. With Covid happening at the moment, I've always opted to take my food to-go. When it comes to the fish tacos here, you really can't go wrong. The fish is perfectly fried to crispy perfection with a delicious batter, housed inside two flour tortillas and topped with all the fixins'. I also love to throw in a shrimp taco or two with my order--it's just as tasty! As for their other items, I had their shrimp quesadilla and spicy shrimp cevice. Both items were decent, but I wish they offered the shrimp quesadilla ala carte of having to order it as a full meal with rice and beans. I think she was mad at me for that??!?!? WTF? She dropped a dime or something of mine and never mentioned it or apologized and was so worried about the bottled soda which started to foam over. How is that my fault?!?!? It was on here side of the service window? Anyway? Chalk that up to a bad day, but I don't think she would recognize good or even adequate service if it bit her on the ass. Yesterday was the first I visited during Quarantine. I called in a take out order. I ordered fish tacos and one mixed shrimp/fish burrito. The tacos were okay but not great like I remember. The burrito was piled with rice and It didn't have much fish or shrimp. The cashier was a little rude to my husband. The cook was not wearing a mask. Fish tacos are big, shrimp and octopus tacos are delicious. Green sauce is great, toppings bar has the big seasoned chilis, pickled onions and limes. Plenty of parking.
