I probably had some of the biggest tacos I've ever had at this spot! I came to East LA to feast on these tacos and they did not disappoint! I ordered the carne asada, carnitas, and chicharron tacos and all of them were great! The tacos were huge and filled with lots of meat. The asada and carnitas meats were juicy and not dry which I liked while the chicharron was crunchy and savory. I really liked the tortillas which were thick and seemed house-made. The toppings were also flavorful and fresh. I liked the pickled cactus and I even did an add-on of guac which was nice and creamy. I liked the chicharron taco the best out of the bunch. I've had better tacos than these though, but these were still on a higher tier for LA. I also ordered a tamale de puerco and it was a big tamale, but on the dryer side. Still good though, just wish there was more filling and flavor to balance out the large amount of masa. I got the taco combo with 2 tacos and a drink, but ordered a 3rd taco and a tamale since I didn't think it was enough food, but I was pleasantly proven wrong. The portions were so big. I paid a total of $17 for the 2 taco combo + an extra taco with an add on of guac for all tacos and a tamale. The combo itself was around $11. When I went on a Sunday early afternoon, it was relatively busy. You go up to the counter to order your food and they bring it out to you food court style. There's very limited seating outside. For parking, they have a small lot that gets filled easily, so your best bet is street parking. Would definitely recommend this spot! read more

I get the hype and it's warranted. I believe most people here get the carnitas but i got the beef brisket. And dang, i'm definitely coming back for it. It was savory and slightly greasy in the right ways. My girlfriend got the chicharron and that was also amazing. And pairing it with the handmade tortillas, that's a recipe for success and a guaranteed returning customer. It was also the weekend when I had stopped by, so we also grabbed a bowl of Menudo. Located in Boyle Heights has been around since 1967. A great taco stand and store that serves authentic mexican food. The hand made tortillas are thick and yummy on their own. The meats I tried(carnitas & carne asada) are flavorful. They also have sopes and chicharron if you like. They also have dry little general store inside you can stock up on items! They have lotto also,. They weren't greedy with the meat, they packed it. This famous store was on the movie Blood In blood out. Great customer service. Omg... I've had this spot on my list for years now and a few friends asked us to join them so I couldn't say no! Went on a random weekday and thankfully the line was short. I definitely expected longer but thankfully it was just a few outside the door. It smelled so good from outside. They had so much meats... I heard someone get a variety of meats to go that you can get... i.e buche/tripa/chicha all cut up into one box! It looked bomb! I ordered tripa (my favorite!) chicha and carnitas. It was sooo good! I def wished the tripa was a little more crunchy but bomb still. The tortilla is fresh and thick, you see the lady making it while you wait. Make sure you get all the toppings on top. Cactus and all. Los Cincos Puntos is at one of the corners of the five-way intersection in Boyle Heights that's shaped like a starfish. Next to the chopping of meats and grilling of masa, there's a little shop where you can load up on chilies and other dried goods. The meat and tortillas here are stellar. The corn tortillas are large - in diameter and in thickness. Almost as big as a hand, soft and fluffy on the inside, and crispy on the outside, this creates some rather substantial tacos. For the fillings, the carnitas were my favorite. The thick chunks of pork are big and tender, and I like that they aren't greasy. The chicharron taco is also amazing, with an ideal balance between flavor and texture. The crispy cracklings have a fair amount of pork meat attached, and they are well seasoned. They can dress your tacos with the standard cilantro and onions and a good selection of salsas. I like adding pickled nopales (cactus). Dining Area: There are a few tables outside along the sidewalk and a few tables inside. Parking: The small is usually full, but there's plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. read more

As a beloved taco spot in the east LA / Boyle Heights area that has been running for over 5 decades, I'm pretty sure this place has a achieved iconic/institution status. Heck, it was one of the spots a main character from one of my favorite 90s movies stopped by for tacos. This place operates as a carniceria, dried goods market, and taqueria. Right when you walk in, you could see the station where folks are working like a well oiled machine and pumping out their fresh, fluffy tortillas . The ordering style feels like a deli you wait in line and wait for someone that calls you to the counter. I ordered the first combo which is two tacos and a drink. When they get you the tacos then it kind of switches over to kind of a Chipotle style ordering system where you let them know what you want on top of the tacos. For my tacos, I got one Carnitas and one Carne Asada. I got cilantro and onions along with mild or the green salsa on both of them. I added some guacamole on the asada and some nopales on the carnitas. They certainly aren't stingy with the toppings. The tacos here are really really good. I really enjoyed the flavors of the texture of the tacos. Also, I really love the tortillas here. They are a lot thicker than your average taco spot. Almost like fluffy corn pancakes. Just a great meal all around. When I came here on a Sunday late morning, the place was pretty packed and the vibe was really lively. In terms of parking, I think I got lucky and was able to find a spot along the street about half a block away. Like the name says this restaurant is the point of five streets in East LA. Stopped by on Saturday, 05/31/25 for the first time! My boyfriend took me here and I am so glad I was able to experience authentic Mexican food in the heard of LA, EAST LA! Apparently this place is very famous from a movie per my friend. I ordered 2 carne asada tacos which came with a drink of choice (got the mandarin jarritos), and my boyfriend got the carne asada burrito and a drink too. Everything came out to be around $30ish which was a great deal! You can sit outside to eat however there were no seats available and it was pretty hot that day. Cinco Puntos/5 points is where 5 streets come together. For want of a better word, Cinco Puntos is a Mexican Deli where meats are cooked in different styles and can be bought by the pound as well as having it in Tacos with Tortillas de Maís Hecho a Mano/corn Tortillas made by hand. Burritos stuffed with the meats and wrapped in Tortilla de Trigo/wheat is another option.  Get in line and make sure you know what to order before going up to an open order area. Don't dilly dally not knowing what to order. They get impatient since the servers have to keep the line moving.   The server takes your order, then goes around picking up and assembling food. If you order Tacos, the server will dress them with various Salsas that you want just before and next to the cash register.  Finally, you rendez-vous with the server at the single cash register to pay & pick up. Make sure the order that is on the counter is correct and then pay. Credit card accepted.  That said, I love the ambiance and the look of Cinco. I feel as though I'm in an old school, bustling Mercado in México without having to have a passport. I love living in El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula.  Tacos: 1) Carne de Res: Shredded beef w/ a meaty, moist texture & lightly beefy taste seems marinated and braised in broth sandwiched in a thick, chewy, firm Tortilla de Maís Hecho a Mano.   2) Costilla de Puerco: There is literally a big bone in pork rib sticking out of both ends of the Taco. Spice rubbed & baked for good porkiness. Of course, I deboned the meat into the Taco.  All the above dressed w/ blanched, sliced Jalapeños, Tomatillo & Avocado Salsa, and Pico de Gallo which is chopped up tomato, Jalapeño, onions, Cilantro. Surprisingly, there was no chile induced piquancy.  3) Tamales:  a. Tamal de Chile Rojo con Puerco: The Salsa de Chile Colorado is bland w/ little earthy, red chile smokiness and lacked being cooked in a meaty, bone broth for Umami.  Perhaps adding a touch of garlic, Epazote, oregano, etc. would add more satisfying savoriness. Also there wasn't enough acidity like tomato sauce to brighten what little flavour there was.  The Masa/corn "dough" also lacks infusion of meaty broth so lacks Umami. The only saving grace was two generous chunks of pork which were not braised in the Salsa.   b. Tamal de Chile Verde con Pollo: Smokey aroma, nice, acidic, mildly sour, piquant chile verde-Tomatillo Salsa.  Generous amount of meaty, slightly dry, stringy, chicken breast meat. Stray peas & carrots for color.  Masa is firm yet soft. Good, creamy, mildly sweet, lardy, good broth Umami w/ pronounced corn flavour that comes forth as you chew.  c. Tamal de Queso: Cheese seems like stringy, bouncy, rough yet soft Queso de Oaxaca. Great texural combination. Tiny flecks of Jalapeño chiles.   Overly salty masa and, not much broth infused.  Corn flavour but really fatty. A Tamal de Rajas would have been more exemplary.  d. Tamal de Chile Rojo con Res: Beef is stringy, meat, soft. The Chile Rojo has more of a cumin-like woody spice. Pretty much the same as the pork version except the overall flavour and texture resembled chile con carne from a can.  I lIked the Tacos, but the Tamales were just ok. The Tamales at Grandma's in Bakersfield and Tamale Man in Torrance  are better.   3+ stars read more

Oh man did this place hit all the marks. From nostalgic movie moments (iykyk) to the quick service and the tacos!!!! My goodness do these tacos hit hard. I'm gonna go head and say best I ever had (so far). Staff were cool in explaining things and the fresh made tortillas were amazing. Los Cinco Puntos is an iconic place to eat. Whenever i go i always get their tacos de carnitas and put everything they offer on it. Never have i had a meal from Los Cinco Puntos that i didn't enjoy. The Vibes there are always good and fast pace as the place usually is packed on the weekends or holidays. The only downside is that it's a bit overpriced. However i think the quality and taste of the food is very worth treating your self and family every once in awhile. If you haven't eaten at Los Cinco Puntos, i recommend trying it at least once and make your way up to el Pino (another ELA iconic landmark) or walk over to el Mercadito (ELA gem). read more

There's really not much to say about this place except "if you know, you know". Hands down. This is my favorite place to get chicharrón, carnitas, and Amazing, handmade tortillas. I literally drive an hour just to eat here. My go-to is a stick of Chicharron, a half a pound of Carnitas, a dozen of the handmade tortillas (I always take some home for breakfast the next day) and of course they're amazing guacamole on the side with nopales and each of the salsas that they have. East LA is such a tight knit, wonderful place with a lot of history. Standing in line at Cinco Puntos you can see El Pino tree in the distance and observe a community honoring a long tradition of eating here. The service is great, the food is absolutely amazing and is one of my favorite places in the entire world to eat. They also sell small grocery items, such as dried chilies for cooking at home. After a disappointing attempt to visit The Huntington (tickets sold out), we decided to treat ourselves to lunch at Los Cinco Puntos. A lunchtime favorite of my boyfriend's, he found the nearest street parking and we walked a short distance to the restaurant to stand in line and watch as a guy with a knife chopped the pork for tacos and burritos. While LCP serves more than just tacos, boyfriend insisted that we get their outstanding carnitas tacos, two each. They came loaded with tender, succulent meat; onions and cilantro; mild green sauce for me, red spicy sauce for him; and a heaping amount of homemade guacamole, all piled on top of a homemade corn tortilla for $3.79 each. (Guacamole is 85 cents extra, but totally worth it). Absolutely fantastic. So delicious and filling that one taco made a meal for me. I can't wait to eat the second one. We took home our extra tacos and also grabbed six tamales (chicken, pork and cheese) to go for $16.99. This is also a small grocery store where you can buy beans, corn and various chiles in bulk, and other assorted items. If you like good, homemade Mexican food that won't break the bank, give it a try when you're in the area. Probably the best and most plentiful carnitas tacos in town. read more

I had a carne asada burrito without rice and beans and it came out to about $18. Thought it was good, but overpriced for what I got. The meat was a little bit dry, but tasted good. It was so small I was still hungry afterward (that's what sh...nvm). Tried carnitas and chicharron tacos. Preferred the asada, but the carnitas were pretty good. The corn tortillas were handmade and thicker than I am used to, but I enjoyed them. Price for the tacos was about 4 bucks a pop. Worth it, they are generous with the meat. I disliked not having access to the toppings/salsas. I'm particular and my tacos didn't come with enough onions (or salsa) for my taste. I'd come back for the tacos, but wouldn't go out of my way for them nor make this my go to spot since I can't add my own toppings. That's a huge plus for me. The location had it's own small parking lot. The staff wasn't very welcoming. I was being friendly and they were just kind of stern. Probably itching to leave, it was about 35 minutes before closing time. Place get pretty packed. Their carnitas are legit and have been since I was a kid. Came here to grab a few things to fulfill the muchies. Ordered the Buche which is the pork stomach, pork carnitas, green salsa and pico de gallo. Service is always great, they have about four registers going, so the lines go pretty quick. I visited Los Cinco Puntos on Christmas Day at 9:30am. It was packed with families getting ready for Christmas buying everything from Menudo to Carnitas, tamales, chicarron, fresh tortillas, etc. I however wanted just two items: Pork Tamale: This was a solid tamale to my knowledge. I'm not an expert, but I feel like every tamale ever created needs some sauce or salsa. Still decent. Carnitas Burrito: this burrito was huge. Took me a while to finish it. What stood out was the fresh tortilla and the delicious carnitas. Really solid gut busting burrito. The service was extremely friendly and they made me feel welcome. We were in the neighborhood so we stopped by to check it out and to try their carnitas. It's a very lively market and a fun atmosphere, and they have a parking lot which is helpful (not lowered car friendly or big but still a designated parking lot). We intended to only get the carnitas but got drawn in by the display and end up getting a flight of three tacos - lengua, carnitas, and rib, as well as the sample of the tripas. I'm glad we got a variety as I truly enjoyed the rib and lengua tacos and didn't care for the carnitas at all. The tripas was also not for me, I prefer it to be cleaned better.
