I love this taco truck. I've been going for years, so delicious. Thanks for the great food.

What's left from the beef tacos I got less than 5 min ago. They were spicy & filling & just $2. And I just ate the other radish. Yum!

Just devoured 2 beef tacos I got less than 5 min ago. They were spicy & filling & just $2. Yum! And they are super nice. Next time I am hungry or hangry in Emeryville, I will come here again.

I felt a little bit the fool the fist time I tried Tacos El Rey... Me: "I'd like a steak super burrito please." Guy behind me in line: "3 fish tacos please" Girl behind him: "2 fish tacos please" The next lady: "2 fish tacos please" So today time I came prepared: "I'd like the fish tacos please!" They were delicious. $4 each, featuring super fresh flaky fish, two nice soft corn tortillas, and served with rice, tomato, cilantro, onion, salsa, sour cream, lettuce, guacamole, and cheese. You'll find Tacos El Rey parked almost every day next to Ironworks gym near the bottom of Ashby ave. They also park briefly at 8th and Parker from 10:00am to 11:30am on Wednesdays to serve the folks that work at Bayer Berkeley and the surrounding neighborhood. Fair warning: if there's no crowd, they might up and leave before 11:30. I've more than once shown up at 11:20 to find there's no tacos for me. Oh, that carne asada burrito? It was ok, the beef was kinda dry, and the flavor was decent, but it didn't even come close to my fav Berkeley burrito (Gordo's of course!).

Meh. Very OK food. They use cheap meat, their salsa / hot sauce lacks any refinement, and their beans are overcooked. Prices are high for a truck too. Good only if you are hungry.

My and my buddy have been looking for a good burrito joint around the eville area for the past week. We tried Juan's place and los canteros taqueria. Both didn't satisfy our desires for a dirty flavorful burrito. I mean dirty in the most endearing way possible. Coming to save us was the shiny silver Tacos El Rey Taco Truck. I've tried both the carne asada and al pastor super burrito. Hands down the al pastor burrito was superior. The meat is flavored well and it has that tiny kick to it that gives it those extra points. Best of all it was only $5.50. I probably would get extra salsa on the side for 50 cents next time. The truck isn't that easy to find. It's right by the bmw dealership. Funny thing was the dudes working at the dealership would drive the couple hundred feet they would need to in their golf carts to grab some food from the truck instead of walking. Nice, I would do that same, be lazy that is.

BEST tacos in Berkeley and maybe even Oakland. Had 2 pastor tacos and 2 lengua, yum-yum.

Tacos El Rey is my favorite taco truck in town! They are super friendly, the prices are good and the food is great. What more can you want? I especially like their Carnitas, Al Pastor and Chorizo.

Quesadilla with Meat: $7.50 Al Pastor (spicy pork). Delicious. Pretty pricey but I recommend it. Yum! Loaded with guacamole & sour cream. It's greasy so watch out for grease drippings trickling down your fingers. Jalapeño, lime, radishes and a few tortilla chips on the side. Taco: $1.50 Carne Asada. Regular taco. Small portion. Not bad for the price paid. Not the best but still good for my taste. Jalapeño, lime and radishes on the side. Overall, I definitely come back again. It was my first time checking out this food truck today. Will try the burrito next time.

Lunchtime at Tacos El Rey. Delicious!

Amazing. I think this was the best quesadilla I've ever had. The truck is right by the iron works climbing gym so it's tucked away a bit.

I was immediately greeted by chef Elmy and his staff. I ordered a gyro to go as I knew my wife would want to try as well. I was expecting a gyro neatly wrapped like a burrito in foil that I could place in my bag. Instead I was presented with two heaping plates of food covered in foil. Luckily the bike I was riding had a basket. Chef Elmy told me which plate to keep on top and instructed me to be careful with the food on my ride home. "Yes sir". I got home and present the plates to my wife. She removed the foil unveiling two colorful delicious looking plates of food. We were both glowing. One was the gyro I had ordered and the other was a mix of some of the most delicious beans I have ever had along with a salad, a roasted pepper and pickled vegetables. The portions were huge, but more importantly delicious. Food like this could only be made by someone who loves feeding people which I believe Chef Elmy does. I cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

From the very beginning, we were welcomed with bowls of soup as soon as we approached the truck. We were asked if we had any restrictions or preferences, and Chef Elmy cooked us a personalized meal. Note that everything is made-to-order so be prepared to wait a little - but for his cooking, anything is worth it. We were handed two gorgeous generously filled plates that could feed a family of 6! He also gave us bottles of water to keep us hydrated. The plate consisted of two wraps, chicken and kofta, with a couple of sides. We were not sure what the sides were (besides the delicious corn that was crusted and seasoned beautifully) but everything had us smacking our lips, especially the fried one. The food was intentional and made with so much love and care, something that is so rare to find nowadays. A real hidden gem and they deserve all the support! We cannot wait to return to try all the other food and specials Chef Elmy has to offer. Thank you for an outstanding and delicious lunch (and dinner)!

Rebecca was running the truck with her husband, and they were warm, friendly, and hard-working. That same care reflected in the food. Comforting flavors, big portions, and just what we needed. ---- Food ---- The hot dogs here are big, delicious, and fantastic value for the price. Wushu Dog: Loved this one. Inventive and delicious. Great texture, topped with pork sung and crispy cabbage, plus katsu sauce and Japanese mayo. Savory, crunchy, and satisfying. Sumo Dog: Japanese curry beef chili with cheese and fresh scallions. Hearty, comforting, and perfect for that chilly evening. Fried Foods: We didn't try, any but they serve fries and potstickers too. The fries seemed to be a crowd favorite at Great Notion Brewery next door (which is partnered with Dojo Dog). Definitely getting them next time. Rebecca told me she enjoys experimenting with new dishes, and the creativity shows. Looking forward to trying more! ---- Drinks ---- We didn't but drinks as we were enjoying beer at Great Notion, but Dojo Dog also offer drinks like milk tea. ---- Bonus ---- As I mentioned, they partner with Great Notion, one of our FAVORITE bars in the Bay with the best smoothie beers and stouts. I thought they might be closed because the front gate is closed, but if the side gate through the parking lot is open, it's open. They have a nice big open lot with tables to eat, and an inside tent as well. They were closing a little early for another event, so I waited about 15 minutes to get takeout and took it to a nearby park. The Chatamari is a great gluten-free option with its rice dough, I wasn't sure if it would be enough for a meal but it was plenty for $12! Topped with minced chicken, egg & a ton of spice, this place is not dialing down the spice for 'American' palates. Like a 'pizza' the rice dough is nice and chewy, but doesn't make you feel too stuffed. I want to go back and try the Bala made with lentils, and the Yomari dessert. The momo have a nice strong wrapper (hate it when those fall apart), good size with 8 for $12, they gave me half veggie & meat, thank you! The $5 mango lassi was delish, very yogurt-y, not enough of it to keep up with all the spice in my meal though. With its reasonable prices & good portions, it's a great option nearby for a tasty lunch or dinner.
