Completely unexpected in many ways, some good, some not so good. Had no idea that this was a slavic joint, but was excited to try some food as it had been a while since I'd had any. Ordered the lamb shawarma and pelmeni at the counter on the way in. The shawarma is wrapped in lavash which is actually brilliant and it was delightfully flaky and crispy. The filling itself was delicious, tender lamb and pungently garlicky sauce--just what a rich meat needs to cut the flavor. The pelmeni comes with a side of sour cream, and I have to say that the flavor was not anything remarkable, and really depended on the sour cream to give it that boost. Figured out afterwards that this restaurant is attached to the neighboring spa, which is a no-frills Slavic-style facility from which patrons can order food during their spa day. The two establishments also share the adjoining billiards/rec room. Now for the reason one star was taken off: while the eating area is well-kept, the bathroom which is accessible through the billiards room was long-neglected, the trash can overflowing and the toilet paper missing--I had to poke around in the cabinet to find a new roll. They say a restaurant is only as clean as its bathroom, and I think you can say the same thing for a spa. read more

Stopped by for lunch with a friend and ordered the large chicken shawarma. You place your order first and then grab a seat. The food came out in about 15 minutes, served warm and flavorful. The shawarma itself was tasty, with a thin, crispy wrap--though I'd prefer it a bit softer next time. The ambiance was fine, nothing particularly memorable. Went there for lunch today.. very disappointing. Will get to the food in a minute. The cashier didn't give me all my change back. She gave me the $$ but not the 65 cents and didn't even say anything. I guess she thought I wouldn't notice. When I asked, she stated "I don't have change." Wow, if I was 65 cents short, I wouldn't have gotten my order. It's not the 65 cents, it's the principle! Now the food: ordered lamb shawarma, but the meat did NOT taste like lamb, I'm sure it was beef. I only ate half cause it left a bad taste in my mouth and had to brush my teeth right away. So I totally didn't even know this place existed It was across the street at the 7-Eleven and I saw the sign and I was like that sounds really good. So I stopped in. I will say some of the menu items are kind of expensive but the shawarma for a full size seems pretty perfect. Everything tasted fresh delicious full of sauce and good vegetables and the lamb was perfect I also really liked the lemonades that they had I wasn't going to buy one but then they looked really delicious so I tried out the grape one and the pair one and both were fantastic I also really like the vibe of this place It seems a little bit more upscale but not like dress up type upscale. And in the back they got pool tables so it really feels like a place that you could just go relax and have some fun. We will definitely be back. read more

If you are unsure what to order, just ask :-) Limited menu, which is nice. They focus on specific items and do a great job! Chicken shawarma was made to perfection. The wrap had just the right amount of crunch, the veggies were crisp and fresh and there was plenty of flavorful chicken. We were only in tacoma for an hour and needed a lunch spot, and holy cow, best schwarma I've ever had by a mile. We also tried the Selgemi cheese wrap (also delicious) and our boys (1 & 5) devoured the pelmeni. Honestly will probably make an excuse to come to tacoma just to eat here again. Sooo... I've has this place bookmarked for a while now and after a day at the beach... we were hungry and this restaurant was on the way home. Great right! So we stopped by and the girl in the front was so nice and patient. The tables were nice and clean in there. There are 2 pool tables you can play with while you wait. We ordered a chicken, beef, and lamb shawarma. We were quite disappointed in it... maybe it's a regional thing but it was the first time we've had people cabbage or carrots in our shawarma. Stopped by for lunch. Had the chicken shawarma. The garlicky sauce was incredible and tasty. The lavash was fresh and a great container for the shawarma. The chicken was tasty and fresh. My only complaint was the amount of chicken/filling versus the price. With tip my sandwich with no drink/fries came to over $20 and I felt for that price a little more protein/filling could have been included. The shawarma itself was huge but the fillings definitely were a bit lacking. Service was fast and kind and the restaurant space was well decorated and clean. You walk in and take your order at the stand. The girl was so friendly and patient since I didn't know what I wanted. The chicken shawarma is so fresh, and so tasty. You get the different textures from the fresh vegetables in there, and then taste the little bit of char on the chicken from the grill in the back. Mixed with the garlic aioli is phenomenal. The space is big with plenty of tables, and has 2 pool tables to play a couple games with family and friends. Can't wait to go back! read more

Our daughter encouraged us to try Tacoma Shawarma. We could not have been more pleased. Very friendly "greeter" and both my wife and I had the Lamb Shawarma with country fries. The portion was huge and enough for two meals for both of us. (Yes, we took half of each of our portions home for another meal) Everything was so fresh and tasty, we both highly recommend trying this establishment. I have never had a Shawarma before and I ordered the lamb. I found the portion huge and filled with tender lamb. They did not skimp on high quality ingredients. I didn't expect much in this corner strip mall but, walking inside proved me wrong. Greeted by a lovely lady and was told my order would take about 8-10 minutes. As I sat down and looked around, I found the interior decorations quite nice. I also reviewed the menu while I waited to see what else I may want to order on my next visit. I am a Bariatric patient so, breads/pastas/and other white flour items can sit hard on my stomach. The pita Lavash was a delight and airy. It is a low carb food so, it was easier for me to digest. I will be back to try different dishes. I hope you will as well! I was looking for shawarma that day and got to try a crispy lamb shawarma. It's different from your traditional shawarmas, with much larger portions and a crispy finish. My husband was so excited to try this place out. My son and I got the beef shawarmas and my husband got the lamb. Unfortunately, me and my son's beef had so much grissle. Almost every bite had bits of hard grissle we had to pull out of our mouths. My husband took a few bites of his lamp shawarma, and didn't want any more. It was all very disappointing. If you order fries they are also IN the wrap, not on the side, so that is a very big wrap! The meat was nicely seasoned and tender. The wrap had salad, some delicious garlic sauce, and the fries. Too much for one person! But really delicious and good value! The space is a good size, lots of tables, very clean, if a bit neutral.
