    Lamb Shahi Korma

I decided to stop here and give Little India Express a shot at my all time favorite Indian Dish... Lamb Korma! They did a great job... a bit spicy... that always takes some fine tuning once you get to know a places ideas of spice levels. Overall pretty good and a little less expensive than most. Great service. Will come back!

This place is located in a food court,so you really can't talk about ambience unless it means snagging a table outside a Mexican restaurant where you just ordered Indian food across the hallway! There is a Fish n chip shop,Asian,a burger joint,Middle Eastern. So,if like me and the wife just couldn't make up our minds where to eat on Saturday lunchtime, come to Freighthouse Square!Lots to choose from.My mind was set on Indian.Opted for a Mango Lamb curry with rice and salad and garlic naan on the side.Oh my goodness.Lamb was so tender.Loads of flavour in the sauce.Heat wise I went with 2 out of 5.Just right. My better half had eggplant which was thoroughly enjoyed. Our server was polite, informative and patient.Meals came out of the kitchen promptly.Big bonus is how much you save by not eating in a proper bricks and mortar establishment. We'll be back.

Tucked in an unsuspecting booth in tacomas freight house square is this gem of an Indian spot. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food came out pretty quick. I was extremely impressed by the fresh naan and how tender the lamb was in the coconut curry. I ordered a level 2 spice but it was still extremely mild which was the only disappointment (totally on me). I thought the quality, taste and portions for the price is pretty unbeatable I'll be going again for sure!

This little gem is located inside of the Freighthouse in Tacoma. My family and I each ordered our own Tikki Masala as we can specify the spice level. Our cashier was friendly and offered to bring the food over to our table. We all enjoyed our meals and will be back!

Still amazing food here. Its been awhile since Ive been here and I still go for anything Mango. This time I ordered a mango curry with lamb, a mango lassi, and 2 veggie samosas. Oh and a masala chai tea that was written on the register so I asked about it. Ordered on cup too. I sat down and waited for my to go order and the chefs were quick and very nice still!. Got to my moms house and got to enjoy everything! As delicious as it was before. I would love to have more sauce next time, but Ill ask. Thank you guys for being consistant for so many years!

I am an avid Indian food fan and after looking at reviews for local places, came across Little India Express and decided to give them a try. Little India Express is located in Freigthouse Square, a building with a handful of other restaurants in one half and boutiques/small businesses in the other half. It was my first time in the building altogether, and I thought it was a neat concept. My fiancé hasn't tried any real Indian food, other than tandoori chicken. So I ordered a couple Indian staples for him to try. We ordered the veggie Somosa, chicken tikka masala (medium spice), lamb biryani (medium spice) and garlic naan. The somasa was good, cooked perfectly and flaky on the outside. The chicken tikka malasa was great - the masala base was creamy and has robust flavor... although we ordered medium spice, you can feel the "heat" but it wasn't overly spicy at all and next time I think I'd get it level 4 spice (spice levels 1-5). As for the lamb biryani, once we got home, we realized it was chicken, but was still good and spice level similar to the masala. The garlic naan was also great. So after paying for the lamb biryani and receiving chicken, I called and spoke to Raj, who was very understanding of the situation and said next time he'd take care of it. Overall, I definitely recommend and will be back - especially for the malai kofta which is my all time favorite Indian dish!

Stopped here for a quick bite on our way from Seattle to Portland. A small unassuming booth inside a food court. Food is pretty good for the price they charge. We ordered 2 plates-- one with chana masala and one with a chicken curry. Both came with rice and a small salad. The chana was very good. The chicken was ok. The food was made pretty quickly. And the lady was nice to give a free dessert to my child.

An Indian haven for vegan or plant-based peeps! I came off a long plane ride and was headed to Bremerton for work. I was desperate for a hearty vegan meal and I am so glad I did a quick search as I drove through the area. This family run gem is cozy and friendly, located in a food hall of sorts. The gentleman who took my order was invested in making a my experience a great one-- offering suggestions and stating, "We only serve the kind of food we love to eat ourselves". He then offered to make any of the dishes fully vegan by using tofu and vegetables and substituting a cream-based dishes with coconut cream. The most important part? The naan is vegan! I had the garlic spinach naan and it was incredible. The vegan tikka masala with tofu and vegetables was hot, perfectly spicy, and accompanied by perfectly cooked basmati rice and a lovely little side salad. I highly recommend this place to anyone craving Indian cuisine and will definitely return if in the area again.

The server didn't come by to check after food was delivered, so over 30 minutes went by before we could flag him down and ask when the 4th entree would be coming. He admitted he forgot, promised he'd get it going ASAP, and that he'd adjust the bill (unprompted, mind you!) Another 20 minutes, no food. No one checks in about drinks, no updates about the order, nothing. My friend has to flag the server down and ask for it to go; we just want to leave. Next, no itemized bill was presented before paying, so we had to ask for a breakdown. The server had given us a 10% discount on JUST her entree. $3 off a $250+ bill after making her wait nearly an hour for her food. They didn't offer to comp the meal - in fact they said it wasn't an option. "My hands are tied. This is our policy for when food comes late." They only agreed to remove the price of the entree when she said she didn't want it anymore and gave the to-go bag back. On the way out she stopped to speak with management, come to find the server didn't tell the whole story to his own boss. He said our table was merely upset about late food, not that the server never put in her order in the first place. Management retrieved her order from the kitchen and gave it back to her, though who knows what may have been done to it. Two stars because the food that we did get was delicious, but it wasn't worth the wait.

I got the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and mango lemonade. I went in to wait for my food since they are carry out only. I could hear the naan being smacked with what sounded like bare hands and when I tried to peak into the kitchen window I was told to take a seat. During my wait, one of the workers was swatting flies on the counter by the desserts and wiping the dead fly onto the floor I got my food and as I got back into the car noticed their "okay" health inspection rating on the window lol. The mango lemonade was a shame. No flavor. It didn't taste like mango or lemon so it was just weird. I Ended up getting a lemonade from chick fil a. The tikka masala was weird too. It tasted like honey tomato sauce. It was super sweet. No robust flavors or aromatics, no traditional Indian spices etc. The chicken was definitely cooked separately from the sauce bc the chicken had a roasted flavor to it. It was super tender which was nice but I was baffled by the lack of flavor. I have made more robust chicken tikka masala from a seasoning packet from Safeway. The naan was great. Tasty and a perfect balance of salt and chewy texture. I ate my naan but threw the rest of my food away. Safe to say I won't be back.

My attitude towards Gateway slowly grew more positive after seeing them at farmer's markets and getting their Indian Tacos. Wow I still think about those and as the weather is slowly getting warmer the farmer's markets will return and I can get a hold of those again. In case you are confused what exactly is a taco at the market version of Gateway it's a kabob type chicken put in a naan bread and you can make it a spicy as you want along with a nice dash of veggies. After having so many great experiences with those we considered going back to the restaurant itself and we did when a group socializing opportunity arose. We got the (Jalapeno) Mirichi Naan which we picked off of the menu and before making that decision we realized we never had naan before with jalapenos in it so we seized the opportunity to try it. It did not disappoint at all and was so, so good. Being able to smell the aroma of the peppers coming off of the bread made us drool and devour it all all the while enduring the heat. After that I got the Saag Aloo to share with Steve. I haven't had Saag in so long and I usually get Vindaloo when it comes to Indian restaurants but this time I was wanting a change of pace. I got the Saag Aloo which is a spinach and potato dish along with onion, tomatoes and ground spices. I got a medium heat (three stars I think) and it was perfect. So delicious! Steve got the Daal Maharani which was a mixed lentil dish. It was very good as well... but I still liked my Saag the best. To drink we got the Rocket Beer which was an Indian beer which I must add they have a nice selection of Indian beers here so that was very noteworthy and well worth remembering. For dessert we split some Ginger Ice Cream and it was great! It was strongly ginger forward as one would expect but the creaminess of the ice cream kept it more tempered and it was just lovely! With our large group... I am not sure if Gateway is used to handling large parties. Service was always, always friendly and was great in that regard but it was fairly slow, some parts of people's orders were forgotten ( like Steve's Daal dish) and when our large party tried to pay a whole bunch of separate bills not everyone got one so we had to talk to the the person ringing us all up on what we ordered to cash out. Despite that part of the service being uneven we will certainly be back sooner rather than later as we really enjoyed the food a great deal on our return visit ( second visit total).
