I had the chicken korma. It's creamy and delicious. The plate includes jasmine rice and salad with dressing. I loved everything about it. The korma had a very slight sweetness to it, the rice was fluffy and didn't stick to each other, the salad with dressing was so good (I'd love to buy the dressing all by itself). Staff is friendly and super accommodating. They bring your dish to the table and bus it as well. I highly recommend this place! read more

I decided to stop here and give Little India Express a shot at my all time favorite Indian Dish... Lamb Korma! They did a great job... a bit spicy... that always takes some fine tuning once you get to know a places ideas of spice levels. Overall pretty good and a little less expensive than most. Tucked in an unsuspecting booth in tacomas freight house square is this gem of an Indian spot. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food came out pretty quick. I was extremely impressed by the fresh naan and how tender the lamb was in the coconut curry. I ordered a level 2 spice but it was still extremely mild which was the only disappointment (totally on me). I thought the quality, taste and portions for the price is pretty unbeatable I'll be going again for sure! read more

Everything about this place is authentic and flavors are perfect every time! This is by far our favorite Indian place in all of WA. We even had my Baby shower catered by them! Family owned, and true to the food quality, we love the food here! The Paneer sabjis are fabulous and the lassi is sooo good! They will also give recommendations if you need any, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I also loved that they give you a side salad and rice with the meals. This place is DELICIOUS. I had their tomato basil soup with naan, and the owner explained that they make the soup fresh each day and add curry and spices. Absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to try their other menu items. read more

Quick service - I ordered Lamb Coconut Curry. Within 5-8 min I had HOT food to take home. Ordered 3/5 on their heat scale and could have gone higher. I like spice and the 3 was mild, but excellent flavor. The lamb was cooked to fork tender but wasn't dry. The rice - oh man - reminded me of my Persian friend's Mom's cooking from college. So good with a few pieces of "crust" from the bottom of the pan. My only disappointment was the side salad - just lettuce with no dressing or sauce. Maybe it was forgotten but I expected a little container in the salad box. Bagging was great, salad separate from rice and curry in its own container so I got to mix the amount of rice I wanted with the curry sauce. Great restaurant for to go food, quick and delicious!!!! Afforable and delicious Indian food. I have tried the samosas and the biryani. Both are excellent. My only complaint is that they give you very little sauce for the samosas compared to other indian restos. Service is fast. I order through doordash and they have my food ready within minutes. I cannot comment much on the ambiance since i have not been there. Will keep ordering from this place though. I need to try more from their menu. read more

This little gem is located inside of the Freighthouse in Tacoma. My family and I each ordered our own Tikki Masala as we can specify the spice level. Our cashier was friendly and offered to bring the food over to our table. We all enjoyed our meals and will be back! read more

Still amazing food here. Its been awhile since Ive been here and I still go for anything Mango. This time I ordered a mango curry with lamb, a mango lassi, and 2 veggie samosas. Oh and a masala chai tea that was written on the register so I asked about it. Ordered on cup too. I sat down and waited for my to go order and the chefs were quick and very nice still!. Got to my moms house and got to enjoy everything! As delicious as it was before. I would love to have more sauce next time, but Ill ask. To be honest, this is the only Indian restaurant in the Tacoma area worth eating at. My most recent visit here was with my Indian friend, who is a regular weekly customer. This little shop is nestled in a run down food court across from the train station, but don't be put off by appearances! Their menu is solid and their flavors hit the spot. Samosas are great, and they even have the tamarind sauce! I usually try to get something new each time, and have not been disappointed. Paneer saag is my favorite! This time I got the chicken vindaloo with 4/5 spicy... and it was legit just the amount of spice my Asian taste buds were looking for. Excellent, bold flavors and perfectly cooked/seasoned Basmati rice. To cool off from the spice, I always get the mango lassi. BOMB. This place always hits the spot. read more

Putting aside its location for now ...I have to say the quality of the food, the very friendly service, as well as the prices was very good. Now on to the location ... Little India is in a "food court" setting, which is not a problem for me ... I found the seating area to be clean, it was not too noisy and our meal was delivered to the table on dinnerware with metal utensils ... no plastic or styrofoam. I've eaten at other Indian restaurants in the South Sound area and I can say the food here is either on par, or even better than I've had at these other restaurants. read more

I am an avid Indian food fan and after looking at reviews for local places, came across Little India Express and decided to give them a try. Little India Express is located in Freigthouse Square, a building with a handful of other restaurants in one half and boutiques/small businesses in the other half. It was my first time in the building altogether, and I thought it was a neat concept. My fiancé hasn't tried any real Indian food, other than tandoori chicken. So I ordered a couple Indian staples for him to try. We ordered the veggie Somosa, chicken tikka masala (medium spice), lamb biryani (medium spice) and garlic naan. The somasa was good, cooked perfectly and flaky on the outside. The chicken tikka malasa was great - the masala base was creamy and has robust flavor... although we ordered medium spice, you can feel the "heat" but it wasn't overly spicy at all and next time I think I'd get it level 4 spice (spice levels 1-5). As for the lamb biryani, once we got home, we realized it was chicken, but was still good and spice level similar to the masala. The garlic naan was also great. So after paying for the lamb biryani and receiving chicken, I called and spoke to Raj, who was very understanding of the situation and said next time he'd take care of it. Overall, I definitely recommend and will be back - especially for the malai kofta which is my all time favorite Indian dish! read more

Stopped here for a quick bite on our way from Seattle to Portland. A small unassuming booth inside a food court. Food is pretty good for the price they charge. We ordered 2 plates-- one with chana masala and one with a chicken curry. Both came with rice and a small salad. The chana was very good. The chicken was ok. The food was made pretty quickly. An Indian haven for vegan or plant-based peeps! I came off a long plane ride and was headed to Bremerton for work. I was desperate for a hearty vegan meal and I am so glad I did a quick search as I drove through the area. This family run gem is cozy and friendly, located in a food hall of sorts. The gentleman who took my order was invested in making a my experience a great one-- offering suggestions and stating, "We only serve the kind of food we love to eat ourselves". He then offered to make any of the dishes fully vegan by using tofu and vegetables and substituting a cream-based dishes with coconut cream. The most important part? The naan is vegan! I had the garlic spinach naan and it was incredible. The vegan tikka masala with tofu and vegetables was hot, perfectly spicy, and accompanied by perfectly cooked basmati rice and a lovely little side salad. I highly recommend this place to anyone craving Indian cuisine and will definitely return if in the area again. read more

Just ordered food from here via Grub Hub and it was so good! I was really impressed with their large menu as well! I ordered butter chicken, chicken vindalloo, samosas, garlic naan and mango lassis. Everything was very tasty. Lots of food and it came quickly and arrived very hot. Will definitely come back/order again. I look forward to trying out more things on their menu. I'd completely forgotten this incredible mini mall/food court existed, and that's a darn shame! Little India Express is serving up incredible flavors, and I hurt myself trying to finish it all. (Sadly, the portion wasn't quite big enough to aim for leftovers.) Ordered the palak (spinach) with chicken, and it was hands down the best palak I've ever had. Flavors were strong and balanced, and the level 3 spicy was the perfect amount of heat. The gal at the register confirmed it's her favorite dish on the menu, too. This is definitely a hidden gem (I'm not sure how long they've been established here). I came here two time in a row. I came here yesterday bc my family and I were craving Indian food, more specifically Butter Chicken. I ordered 2 plates of Butter Chicken and their Vegetarian Maloo Mushroom(?) (I can't recall what the name was) and 4 garlic naans. The whole family enjoyed it. My son was upset he had to share with his sister, so today he asked for Butter Chicken but THIS time we eat there so he don't have to share with his sister. The service was fast today, as where yesterday it was quite the wait due to it being lunchtime and a weekend. The food was delicious...I'm used to spicy food so I ordered 3 stars to be on the safe side and 3 stars was not spicy at all. So next time I'll order 5 stars. My little ones are used to spicy as well so they didn't feel the heat. The butter chicken was so creamy and rich, the chicken itself was tender and flavorful. The naan was amazing. The Maloo mushroom was filling! I enjoyed it very much. I felt the portion was reasonable and worth the money. I also purchased the Masala Chai Tea and I enjoyed it very much. I like the spice without the spice test. It was more of a spice flavor but it wasn't overwhelming or it wasn't hot. It was perfect amount of spice and sweet. One of the best, if not the most amazing Indian cuisine you can get, and it's in a hidden Gem of Tacoma Fright house next to the sounder station. The staff team is very good at what they do. They are polite while making excellent food. I have come here about seven times. I usually order the same thing, my wife tried many other dishes, and she loved them all. I even tried to make it at home; I still can't make it as good as these guys. I usually come here when I'm on my way to work. It's a place that never disappoints. read more

Indian food is one of those cuisines that is so underrated, in my opinion. Sometimes I forget how dang good it is. I was going to go with my usual Mediterranean or poké spots, but randomly got a craving for Indian food so I found one nearby offering delivery straight from the Yelp app. I was pretty basic and just went with an order of butter chicken. It comes with rice, which is nice. Some spots, you still have to order that separate. The portions were also great - I had enough for lunch and then dinner! Overall taste was great! I would up the spice level next time, though. I went with a 2/5 because I was a little nervous, but I definitely could've gone to a 3. After delivery and tip, it was around $25 for lunch. I haven't actually ordered food from here for myself. My cousin and my friend have both ordered food from here and they have shared with me. I've tried the Vindaloo, Butter Chicken, and Seafood Delight. My favorite was the Butter Chicken. Although I love seafood, the Seafood Delight wasn't as flavorful as the others and curry consistency was a bit thinner. And I haven't been able to try the naan fresh, so I can't say much on that. read more

The food is absolutely remarkable. Lassi is difficult to make well but they have perfected it. Would highly recommend.

My sister and I wanted to do something nice for mom so we took her to the Home and Garden show at the Tacoma Dome. We tried to upscale the day, and we found out we were around the corner from a teahouse. We love ourselves a good tea, but dammit, they were closed even though we were there during the hours posted on the door. Sis saw that I was getting hangry, so a few doors down there was a sign for a food court. I didn't have much hope, but we walked in and there were a bunch of blue collar types sitting around having a late lunch. That gave me hope, since these locals probably have their faves and they came here. Sis and I for some reason really wanted Indian and that was the best choice ever. She got the Korma and some fried paneer. The sauces that came with the paneer were a homerun. I ordered the veggie samosas and the coconut curry with lamb. I couldn't have ordered better. It was like I'd been eating my meals for the past few days, but nothing satisfied me the way that curry on rice did. I wanted to order more but that was crazy because it was an ample enough meal to the point that I was taking home leftovers. Warming those leftovers up in microwave surprisingly didn't change the quality of the food. The next morning it was still freaking delicious. Props also to the server who didn't wait for us to come back when the food was ready, but found us at our table which wasn't close to his stand. Good on you for taking note on what we looked like so you could bring it to our table. So I guess I'm going to have to do another trip this week to get more curry, because I'm hooked! read more
