PLEASE GO HERE. The food is absolutely amazing, my favorite Thai restaurant in Tacoma. We tried the lettuce wraps, spicy chicken wings, Dan Dan noodles, and Tom Yum. Everything was SO flavorful, fresh, and delicious. Ambience is really beautiful and immersive. I felt instantly relaxed sitting down here. On top of it all, Ricky was the best server ever. Constantly checking in and sharing stories/information about the history of this restaurant and the chef. A Tacoma gem. read more

I didn't have high expectations when my friend wanred to try Silk Thai Cafe. Well, I'm happy she did. I arrived before they opened and waited. They opened right at 11 am as was posted on their door amd the nice gemtleman that opened must have seen me sitting there and came out to greet me. He sat us right away and we looked over the menu. We ordered fresh spring rolls, beef Thai curry, and Pas See Ew. The Pad See Ew and spring rolls were ver good but the beef curry was next level great. In fact, I haven't had curry that good in over a decade. Will I go back, you bet. I absolutely want some more of that beef curry. I'll be back soon. read more

Silk Thai Cafe My daughter and I were out enjoying a girls day when hunger hit, so we searched for Thai restaurants nearby. Silk Thai Cafe popped up with great reviews and a convenient location, so we decided to give it a try, and I am so glad we did. The moment we walked in, we were in awe of the decor. There is so much to look at, rich details everywhere, and while a few spots could use a quick Swiffer pass, it was absolutely not dirty in any way. It felt warm, unique, and full of character. We were seated right away by friendly staff, which set the tone immediately. Our server, Ricky, was phenomenal. When we mentioned it was our first visit, he shared wonderful history about the owner and the decor, and even explained how the atmosphere changes between day and night shifts. He was engaging, attentive, and genuinely kind. He kept our spirits lifted and smiles on our faces the entire time. Truly hands down amazing service. The food was incredibly tasty, and the portion sizes were perfect for the price. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared and authentic. From start to finish, the entire experience was outstanding. We absolutely made the right choice trying a new Thai restaurant that day. If your belly is craving some of the best authentic Thai food, paired with amazing service and a beautiful atmosphere, choose Silk Thai Cafe. And if you are lucky enough to have Ricky as your server, you are in for an even more memorable experience. Ricky was amazing! Food was amazing! Atmosphere amazing! Come and see Ricky asap! The place is an hidden gem!

First time eating here! Heard from friends that it was amazing -- which it was. Ricky was our server and he was so kind and on top of it. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, fresh rolls, Tom Kah and mango sticky rice. Everything was 10/10!! We will be coming back for sure! read more

We were able to get a seat immediately at six on a Saturday, which was nice. The service was great-- attentive and quick, and I liked the look of the restaurant and the history behind the owner. Unfortunately I did not like the food. The lettuce wrap starters were okay, but tasted remarkably like sloppy joes. The larb was horrible. Saying "lemongrass chicken" is an understatement-- it was incredibly sour, with a strange flavor I can't describe. The chicken resembled more of a crumbled tofu texture, but dry? The beef and broccoli was okay, but it's definitely not a place that I'll be trying out again for a while. read more

What a nice surprise to find this great restaurant. The authentic decor and the low music make for a nice vibe. Sam is a first class waiter who knows everything you need for the best food and experience. We especially love the tofu salad rolls and the Thai eggplant with chicken. But we haven't had a meal we didn't like yet. Three be-backs in a month should say it all. MmmMmm read more

This is a hidden gem in Tacoma. Such a beautiful ambience you feel like you're entering a Buddhist temple with all sorts of wood, carvings, candles, and statues. The food is also fresh delicious and flavorful. Ricky our server was super attentive and friendly. Probably my favorite Thai food restaurant in Western Washington. I would definitely highly recommend going there on a regular basis if you want fresh flavorful food, and a relaxing atmosphere. read more

Gluten free options and they were able to accommodate my other allergies, too. Fun restaurant vibe. Some people describe it as Indiana Jones, but the Thai woodwork is amazing to behold. read more

We had the Dan Dan Noodles, Pad See Ewe, and Bangkok Noodles. We ordered takeout, which may have affected my satisfaction with the meal and service. I was told 20 mins when I placed my order and showed up at my correct pickup time, but then was asked to wait another 15 minutes upon arrival, which was kind of a bummer. Then, all three noodle dishes were really really salty. The flavor profile was right other than perhaps excess soy sauce? Not sure if this was a one-off experience or not because I hear great things from everyone I talk to. I'll likely try it again because I'm sure it was a fluke. read more

Used to be delicious, now it's lumpy and poorly-spiced. They can't nail the heat, meaning ordering a 3-star spice level can either burn to the point I can't eat it, or have no spice at all. read more

There is NO better Thai place within 100 miles all directions. From the outside you would never guess that inside , merely 89 feet from busy 6th Ave , is a romantic quiet interior which you will see 100 % of the space reflects Thai artifacts. Silky is the best book of special recipes. My wife and I have attended probably 40 times or more. Before passing away, my mom and stepdads favorite place was here too- mom loved the crab and rice dish. Special hot sauce if you ask for it too. Simply the best Thai I know of and compare every one else to the best: Silk Thai! read more

The decor and atmosphere was absolutely gorgeous. Just like Thailand. The ambiance was very relaxing the service was excellent. We were continually checked on by the servers. Would highly recommend coming here. Oh, and they know the heat levels. Ask about them. Not your typical heat. Impeccable food, service, and people. read more

This place is a total hidden gem. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the interior is really wildly decorated and the food is really good. I love that they have Chang and singha beer which can be hard to find in the US. Their menu is pretty typical Thai for us restaurants and they have all the hits. I found the wait staff to be really friendly and attentive. Over all I'd rate them Food 8/10 ambiance 9/10, service 10/10, price point 11/10! and an extra point because I love Chang beer. Definitely recommend if you're in Tacoma read more

I got the panang curry. It was good, but i was a little confused why there were a lot of green peas. It didn't add to the dish and I didn't like it in there. Also, would've preferred the curry to be a little thicker. Slightly watery for my liking. It took awhile for our food to come out. The service was good. And the restaurant is overall a bit dark. read more

I think I've been here three times in the last month and a half. That's quite a bit for me. I also keep ordering the same thing because it's delicious. I love their fresh spring rolls with tofu, the red curry with tofu, and the brown and sticky rice. The coconut sake is also fantastic! It's a very small place, but super nice inside. You definitely wouldn't know this at first glance being unassuming in a strip mall. I wish reservations were an option, but aside from that, the service is fantastic and every experience I have had has been stellar. read more

To go food is not good. Customer service is not good. Didn't even say hello or thank you

The atmosphere and decor was very nice. The food was very good..had the Cashew Chicken....but the spice rating of 3 was not very spicy.

The dinner we purchased last night was so horrible we threw it out. What has happened to Silk That? It used to be wonderful. All of our food tasted rancid read more

I hadn't been in Silk Thai Cafe for at least a dozen years, but remembered their crab wonton was an orgasmic experience. Upon walking through the front door, the first employee to greet me ask if I was picking up for Uber eats. Thinking I was funny I said "no, but I'm Uber hungry and I'm ready to eat". Didn't get a sideways smirk or a courtesy laugh...instead I got ignored by three employees for 10 minutes and never got a table. My dignity and my grandmother's voice in my head forced me to leave. I'm not sure they even noticed or cared. Bummed I couldn't give that crab wonton another try. Words of wisdom, Silk Thai... treat your dine in customers better or just go full delivery. read more

We ordered several dishes and I'd consider each only fair. There was nothing particularly good. The flavor profiles of the various dishes were flat and surprisingly similar. On a positive note, the people working there were really nice. read more

I had my first taste of Thai food at Silk Thai years ago when they first opened. I lived across the street from the restaurant and it soon became my favorite. We moved across town and weren't able to come in as often then it closed down for a while and we moved out of the city. Imagine my surprise when I came to town and my son wanted to go there for dinner. Sukie is still cooking the best Thai food around! We had the pleasure of meeting Emma who was an engaging and charming and a great waitress. Now that I know they are still open I will be coming to town more often. And the decor is so interesting and unique. read more

Great food! It was a little wait for takeout but everything was excellent And good Thai food is hard to find.

We will be back! I got my yellow curry at level 4 heat and it was absolutely phenomenal. The appetizers were delicious and the sauce on the wings was good enough I should have asked if they would sell me some to bring home. Sukie is an artist in the kitchen and I was overjoyed to be able to experience her food. The restaurant is a little dark but the food more than makes up for any complaint you could possibly have. 100/10 would definitely go again. I'm overjoyed to have leftovers today! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally had the opportunity! The interior is a bit dark yet the restaurant is clean and fresh. Those two things don't normally go hand in hand, haha. They put out a recent "spring menu" with some fun and fresh ideas, and I tried the Thai sausage. I was not disappointed in any of the food I ordered and the server girl (Tram) was super nice and efficient. I ordered the Thai sausage, lettuce wraps and hot tea. Normally I'd order the Pad Thai yet thot I'd try something different. I was super happy I stepped out of my comfort zone to try new things! Service and food were both excellent, I'll be back! PS SUPER IMPORTANT! I told my waitress, Tram that I was allergic to wheat. It didn't occur to me until I was about to leave, she never once brought anything to the table to compromise my health. When she brought my check, there were no fortune cookies like she took to the other table. I'm so impressed! read more

A little hidden gem in the heart of Tacoma! If you love Thai food, you're in for a treat the moment your step foot into Silk Thai Cafe! The decor is like you've transported to Thailand . Beautiful statues, artifacts, lighting, candles... definitely a welcoming vibe. Don't let the small wait for a table detour your decision. Once seated we were greeted quickly by our waiter to take our drink order then shortly after our food order. Once the food arrived, it was such a beautiful presentation. The cook really takes pride in the dishes . Everything was very flavorful. Loyal customer here! read more
