I'm on a Mediterranean diet, so I was glad to find Al Bacha while I was in the neighborhood! I came here early on a Sunday. It was pretty easy to find street parking nearby and the restaurant wasn't busy. They have a pretty large menu and they also have several photos available which I always think is helpful! The lady at the front counter was really nice. I ordered the Kofta kebab plate (rice, kofta kebab, garlic sauce, side salad, pita). They also have gyro, falafel, salads, sandwiches, etc. I received my food quickly and it looked great. Everything tasted good and I ate most of it, so no leftovers. :-) Someone brought the food to my table, but you are responsible for bussing your tray yourself. Al Bacha is a nice, casual place to get Mediterranean food and I would come here again the next time I'm in Tacoma. read more

I am Greek/American. This place is an insult to Mediterranean cuisine, as they claim to serve. Al Bacha is middle eastern, not European, where Greece resides. It saddens me that people don't know the difference. Two distinctive clues, of the many...lettuce does not belong on a Gyro or curry! Stepped into Al Bacha for lunch and was already thoroughly impressed with the cleanliness of the establishment and how busy it was. With an extensive menu and open seating, it made it an easy place to grab a meal and have a seat. One thing that stood out to me was that everything was made to order and the portion sizes, can easily be family style if need be. The lamb and chicken was well seasoned, hummus tasted as though it was house-made and the fries has a perfect crisp to them. One thing to note and only one this, we definitely needed a knife! Located in downtown Tacoma. Walking distance from the Tacoma Convention Center. We stopped here for lunch while attending a tournament at the Tacoma Convention Center. Small establishment, but very clean and well maintained. Our first impression was great. The menu is on display; we can choose items and order at the counter. They will serve it on the table once the food is ready. There have been a few customers already dining in or waiting for food when we walked in. We ordered an Al Bacha Falafel, Gyro Chicken and Beef & Lamb sandwich with Fries on the side. Almost 15+ minutes for the food to arrive; but considering the rush it was fast. The presentation of the food was simple but elegant. The portion was decent. Really enjoyed the sandwiches. The falafel sandwich stood out - the falafel was lightly crispy but well cooked - delicious with the sauces in it. The meat sandwiches were also great. The meat was tender and juicy. I used to order shawarma from a place that's 5 min away from me but the quality has gone downhill about two years ago. I have ben trying to find a new spot for months. I am glad I found this on Doordash. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap for my husband and the shawarma rice for me. The servings are huge. There's also a lot of meat, not just all rice. Surprisingly, it's also cheaper than the other Middle Eastern places I have tried. I have been here 3 times now and tried both the chicken and lamb/beef gyros. Not only have they tasted SO good, they've been CONSISTENTLY good, and this makes me want to continue returning! I love the food here!!! I am a travel nurse from Georgia and I thought I had found a spot to eat from almost everyday but on 06/15/26 around 8pm the staff on duty decided they would get testy about my request for an extra sauce. I paid 16.88 on 06/13, 25.35 on 06/14, and 25.35 on 06/15....each amount included a nice tip. I was on a roll eating here everyday until I was denied a small container of extra sauce. I was told that I had to pay for the extra sauce after placing my order online. I advised that I wanted extra sauce in the online comments. The online platform does not give the customer the option to be charged for extra sauce. Why do restaurants run off good customers over something so trivial. It's not my fault that you do not have extra sauce as an upcharge on your platform. I felt it was very inconsiderate and greedy of the restaurant to ask me to run my credit card again just for a small container of sauce when picking up my order. Got the regular gyro combo, it's comes with fries and a drink. The gyro itself was fantastic loaded with meat and veggies flavor packed in every bite. Al Bacha is a newer restaurant that opened in downtown Tacoma. I kept forgetting to go here for a while but finally did remember a few Fridays ago to give it a try. I did a take out order for a lamb gyro and that went pretty well. It wasn't long before my order was ready. The gyro itself was good. Ingredients were fresh and the meat was tasty. It made for a very good lunch. I didn't realize just how much salt was in the gyro though as later on I got thirsty for water and had several glasses of it during work which isn't quite a routine for me. I will make an order here again however but perhaps will try their hummus sometime. read more

The area is a bit dodgy. We found parking behind the restaurant. We ordered a falafel sandwich and a chicken shawarma sandwich. The size alone is xx-large. The falafel was fresh, warm, and tasty. The shawarma was hot and very flavorful. The fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were outstanding. They were the freshest vegetables I have ever had on a sandwich. The service was great! This is a second location for Al Bacha with the original being in Seattle. I ordered the lamb gyro and it was delicious. It came with fries and a drink. I like that the meal was around 15$ and relatively quick. They stay open until around midnight on the weekends so would definitely be a great spot for a late night snack after a few drinks at the many nearby bars. The inside has seating for approximately 18 people, I ordered to go so wasn't able to really rate their service.
