Some pieces were so tough that after giving them a respectable effort, I had no choice but to spit them out. At one point, I wondered if I had accidentally ordered a gyro or a chew toy. I'm honestly puzzled by the four-star Yelp rating. Maybe previous customers got a better batch of meat, or perhaps they have much stronger jaws than I do. They don't give you a bunch of rice like other places which is fine with the mixed grill plate because there's already so much on this $35 dish (worth every penny). The Palace Kebab is the BEST and only truly authentic Mediterranean and Persian restaurant in or anywhere near Tacoma. This place is an absolute TREASURE and needs to be on everyone's radar! They have all the Persian staples: kabobs, chicken, saffron rice with tahdig (the crispy golden bottom!), gormeh sabzi, the different yogurts dips, shirazi salad, falafel, pita bread and more. They also have the Mediterranean favorites: gyros, spanakopita, hummus, tzatziki, baba ghanoush, baklava, and Greek lemon soup. If you're craving proper Greek food, this is the closest you'll get outside the annual Greek Festival. If you're newly venturing into Mediterranean food, I recommend the chicken and koobideh combo. But really, you can't go wrong. Everyone was raving over their food and we can't wait to go back and try other dishes. Portions are huge and well priced. Be sure to finish with Persian tea and dessert for a real treat. The restaurant is locally owned by a husband and wife who are incredibly warm and friendly.
