A STAPLE. If someone claims to know good food in the Valley but doesn't know Tacos Viva... they're clearly not on the food scene. Hands down, some of my FAVORITE tacos and salsa in the entire Valley. GET THE AL PASTOR. Thank me mañana. And Tacos Viva, PLEASE come to the West Valley(Avondale) . We need you over here!
This is probably the best taco place in AZ! My friend recommended this place and we drove 30 mins just to eat here. It was so worth. We got three Al Pastor tacos and one carne asda quesadilla. We also go the Al Pastor fries. They make the food fresh. I love that they add a pineapple in the tacos. It really enhances the meat. The place is pretty big and we're able to find a big table. They have a sauce bar. The orange sauce is the best one in my opinion. You order from the cashier and then go up to the counter and get your food. The food comes out pretty quick. The Al pastor fries were huge portions we ended up sharing in our group of 5. Everything was so delicious and it was just as good as Tacos El Gordos. My boyfriend even said he liked this place more than there. I would 100% recommend anyone to come here. The only down side is they don't sell burritos.
Stopped in for a quick lunch and we're so glad we came here bc Taco Viva rules. Very nicely priced, super flavorful tacos. It was poppin when we walked in, line was huge already. The workers are all so friendly and helpful. You order at the register, then bring your ticket over to the line, where they make and bring you your food. I will always get stoked over a salsa bar. The orange and green salsas were so good. Inside is pretty big and clean, plenty of seating. We had Al pastor and carne asada tacos con todos. I also tried an Al pastor mulas con todos, the flour tortilla for the mulas was different from the flour tortilla for a reg taco, it was thicccer and more filling. The price point of everything sold here is great, excellent value. Ample parking in their lot outside.
Ok, this whole experience needs to be bottled and sold across the U.S.... As soon as I stepped inside, I felt as though transported to a CDMX taqueria (but indoors, with A/C). Such a fun concept to take that experience and turn it into a fast casual restaurant. The menu is painted on the wall--again, very true to the authentic experience. Tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, and aguas frescas round out the menu. I had a taco and tostada--con todo/"with everything." Great salsa bar with so many spice levels and options. And a lot of lime. I kinda over-did it on the salsa and quickly needed a bev. But the line was out the door. So that's the only downside... if you want to order more, you have to hop back in line.
Whenever a restaurant makes their own tortilla, I must try just because they put so much work into fresh quality food and I'm all about that. This place is very bright and clean and is a counter service shop so you order, they make your food and sit to eat. Tacos are basically $4 a piece but they are bigger than your regular taco and they don't have any burritos on their menu. We order the Al pastor and asada with everything on it. Al pastor was a hit but the asada was super salty. The salsa they put on the asada taco was the culprit. Probably won't get the salsa next time.
Very very good!!!! Nothing too fancy, you walk up to order and pay then take your ticket to the counter. Tacos and the mula were great and came out fast. The carne asada was delish and you can tell it's a quality cut of meat. They make their salsa and tortillas in house as well so you have to try a few from the salsa bar. Would definitely recommend for a quick casual bite and we will be back.

Went on a Saturday and the parking lot was full. A great sign of what's to come. Stood in a small line and took about 10 min to place our order. Cashier rung me up and asked me to give to the receipt to the taco guys. They were super fast and efficient. Got carne asada and chicken tacos along with the carne asada fries. All of it was delicious with the smoky flavor and the salsas were fantastic. Order it "con todo" with everything. I'm going back in a couple days again. Place is pretty epic.
An amazing taco spot! Reminds me of Tacos El Gordo in NV/CA. Everything is excellent and tasty and the space is clean and big. The line moves fairly quickly and is worth any wait. The tortillas are handmade and excellent and the meats are cooked well. The salsas really bring everything to the next level! The carne asada fries are also very good. Definitely worth going out of your way for to try these tacos!
This place was highly recommended to me by a coworker for the longest time, but since I'm rarely in this area, I hadn't had a chance to try them out until recently. We arrived about ten minutes before they opened since my appointment in the area finished early and there was already a decent-sized line forming outside. Even though the line was long, it went by pretty fast. After looking over the menu we decided to order two al pastor tacos, two pollo tacos and one carne asada taco, all ordered "con todo". The al pastor tacos were our favorite overall; the flavor was the most diverse with a nice balance of sweet and savory and the meat was tender. The pollo tacos were our second favorite. The chicken was surprisingly tender and not dry. The carne asada was still good but not what I was expecting. Someone had told me they were a bit fatty, but it was actually pretty lean. Service from start to finish was friendly, patient and organized. Overall, the prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. If you're in the mood for fast casual authentic Mexican food, I highly recommend this place!
Food was amazing. I love the line order process. My cousin brought us here when we were visiting. I wish I had a place like this close by. The space is decent, not crazy big, but not too small either. Definitely got packed as we were in line to order. I'd love to go again if I'm ever in Arizona!
Really excited to try this place, pretty straight forward menu. I asked for recommendations and was told to try the vampiros with pastor. I actually did not love the vampiro as I'm used to a softer shell but they still had good flavor. I thought their normal tacos were delicious! Chicken asada and pastor all were hitting and the guacamole was perfect. Make sure to get their homemade salsa as well, really put the flavor profile over the top.
One of my favorite quick, casual places to grab lunch or dinner from! Every time we go, the staff is always very friendly and welcoming. While the line can be long, don't let it fool you because the service is quick and efficient! The restaurant is also adding a drive thru line, so that should help disperse the line inside of the restaurant. Even with how busy the restaurants can get, I've never had an issue finding a place to sit and eat. They make each item to order in front of you, you get to choose which toppings you want to add. I always order my items "con todo" with onion, cilantro, guacamole/crema, and salsa. This trip I ordered 3 especiales: caramelo (steak), gringa (pork), and gabacho (chicken). Unfortunately, they ran out of chicken, so I subbed for an extra gringa, my favorite of the 3. I also got an order of chips and queso, but be careful because the queso is addicting! They also have a help yourself salsa bar, but the salsas tend to be watery and not very flavorful. The orange one is my favorite, adds a good kick to the food. The pricing is reasonable, especially for the quality of food you get, even when I tend to over order. Overall, I will continue coming to Taco Viva any time I'm in the mood for some yummy tacos!
TACO VIVA FOREVER!!! I will be forever thinking about this place. Coming back to AZ for a trip, all I wanted was good tacos and this place had me skipping 3 other places I had planned to hit. We came back here to eat the day after we had it for the first time, it's that good. You order your meat/type of item at the register and give the ticket to the person working on the line. Cannot go wrong with the al pastor on the trompo con todo. The carne asada fries are insane. Fast casual spot with amazing tacos. Get a vampiro, so crunchy and cheesy and perfect with the salsas which are actually spicy when they say they are. read more

My go-to local taco place as of now, this gem stays close to its cultural roots while serving delicious, authentic tasting food. You must get everything "CON TODO" WITH EVERYTHING, ALL THE TOPPINGS. You get the option of corn or flour as the base. I loved the Al pastor taco served with juicy bits of pineapple. The guac, onions, cilantro tasted wonderful paired with the carne asada taco. The mushroom taco was surprisingly tasty, don't skip on it. The small quesadillas are a little too similar to the tacos so I usually skip this one. Service is friendly and efficient. FYI the fries are topped with a very spicy salsa, so I ask them to serve it non-spicy (because I'm weak) and they'll hold the salsa. It's still topped with a nice nacho cheese sauce, sour cream, and guac. There's a station to add milder salsas if you want. I appreciate that when they serve the fries, they're actually really crispy! This place doesn't beat the taco places I've been to in San Diego (I mean, they're right next to the border) but it's a much welcome substitute and comes pretty dang close. read more

For the longest time, I was convinced that the best tacos ever were from a shop located in San Diego, CA...until I came here. To start, Taco Viva is pretty big and has lots of indoor and outdoor seating, a salsa station, and a sweet team of people preparing the food! There's also a parking lot right behind the establishment. When I walked in here for the first time, I was in awe. I was kind of hungry when I first parked my car, but when I came inside, I was hit with the smell of hella good food and the next thing you know - I was starving! I loved that they had a giant menu on the wall so if you don't have 20/20 vision, you'll be fine. I got the carne asada tacos (w/corn tortillas) and it was heaven. I ordered 3, but really wish I ordered 7! It was prepared super quickly and cooked to perfection. read more

Well as you may or may not know, I'm always very honest with my reviews. That being said...This place is good!! Very crowded on this Saturday night, it was even hard to find parking here. That's usually a great sign. You order and pay at the register, then take your ticket to the "taco makers". They put all the fixings on for you. I ordered the large carne asada/pastor fries. (Yes you can split the meats). Delicious!! They have a small salsa bar but mine was good as is. Very tasty carne but the pastor was awesome. Cooked on a vertical rotisserie with pineapple on the top. Yum. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere was nice. I definitely recommend this place! read more

Wonderful, new business in the southern Biltmore District. Well lit, full menu (on the wall - love these!), minimalistic decor, wide open, viewable 'kitchen', open seating, and full staff waiting to take your order and serve you. Food was good, but honestly with my party of three, we combined, couldn't say it was captivating. It tasted well, especially with the added sauces but no real punch as a styled, cuisine. Everything is fresh, even on the condiment table. We had an assortment of about 4 different dishes, all with genuinely good taste, and we'll definitely come back for a second round but because we didn't identify a truly 'winning' dish, nothing stood out, per se. However, let me please recognize everything else! A wonderful building, Swag to purchase, extremely happy personnel, eager to help you out. While I can't recommend it for the particular cuisine, I would certainly try it out. They have an overall excellent business platform - very welcoming atmosphere! If you want authentic Mexican street food this is your place! They serve carne asada, pastor, chicken and mushroom for a vegetarian option. All delicious. I can't just pick one favorite. The service is fast and friendly the ambiance up beat with Latin music. It is very spacious and has an open patio when the weather cools off. The staff are constantly cleaning and stocking the salsa bar. If you are a huge fan of this place you can even purchase a hat or t shirt to leave with. read more

Highly recommend this spot for a quick bite or take out. This spot reminds me of Taco Stand back in California. The medium Carne Asada Fries was the perfect size for me for a meal. I got everything on it, but I think it was missing onions and cilantro. The salsa is on the spicier side, you can always omit it and grab salsa on the side from the self-serve station. I wanted to like this place so bad after all the hype. Let's start with the food. I ordered the carne asada and al pastor tacos. Let me just say. Food was cold. No heat whatsoever to them. The asada was beyond salty. Couldn't eat the food. The Al pastor was mid. Not much flavor to the meat. My favorite was the tortillas, hand made. The food lacked flavor. Spending my summers in Mexico as a kid, I would always be eating tacos. This place brought back memories! These tacos are legit. I was so excited to find tacos that are just like the ones in Baja California, MX. Fresh made corn tortillas, Al Pastor and the Carne Asada was on point. Tender, juicy and full of flavor. Dare I say the BEST tacos in town!? I've tried many of the Phoenix area taco establishments and this place was jaw dropping. The staff welcome you in as you enter the door, the interior is sparkling clean, the food will knock your socks off!!! The homemade flour and corn tortillas are the perfect pairing to the freshly prepared in front of you meats, con todo style to get the full explosion of flavor is a must! The salsa bar is stocked with 4 flavorful salsas of varying heat to enjoy with chips or on your entrees, but I might argue you don't need any extras on the food. It's really upsetting having to give a bad review to a place that my partner and I have been wanting to try for a long time now. Anways we orders 2 vampiros and a LARGE carne asada fries. The portion of the carne on the fries are as incredibly stingy. We would probably count the pieces of carne if the dish. We told the lady if we can get more carne since the portion was very small, since we ordered the large they charged us extra ... fuck it whatever. Best taco shop in the area! You order and pay first then can customize your order by adding salsa, guacamole, onion, and/or cilantro. The quesadilla was so unique. came casually on a thursday after having this on a must try list for so long. the place is huge and fast casual vibes - ordered and was served pretty immediately. pro tip make sure to give the cooks your ticket from the check out counter so they make ur food. we didnt know that so shoutout to the girl who told us lol the chicken and beef taco was SO GOOD shockingly. both were cooked very tender and juicy - the flavors really hit. these tacos had 1 tortilla rather than 2 so it wasnt overwhelming and we could get full taco taste the pork taco was shockingly a miss i thought it was too crunchy and lacking pork tenderness. would totally come back read more
