Absolutely unacceptable behavior from Carlos, the manager. Instead of having even the most basic level of professionalism, he chose to publicly yell at an employee for a mistake that wasn't theirs. Meanwhile, the actual problem was his cashier, who was too busy socializing and not paying attention to customers or orders. What really stood out was Carlos's attitude when I spoke up. He didn't listen, didn't care, and made that very clear. He flat-out dismissed my concern and essentially told me my opinion didn't matter, then had the audacity to suggest I should be "on his side." That's not leadership -- that's ego and incompetence. On the other hand, I want to sincerely thank Angel, who stepped in and fixed a mistake he didn't even make. He was incredibly kind, professional, and handled the situation with more maturity than the manager himself. Employees like him deserve better leadership. If this is how Carlos treats both his staff and customers, it's no surprise things are being mishandled. A manager who can't take accountability and instead lashes out at the wrong people should not be in that position. I will not be coming back, and I genuinely feel bad for any employee who has to work under someone like this. read more

Ordered one taco, one tostada, one mula and one vampiro just try it all. Asked for no salsa on any of them. After making the taco correctly, Adrian made the tostada and added salsa, looked at me and said, "that's right, you didn't want salsa on anything," proceeded to make the other two and served me. I thought for sure he was going to say that's on the house and make me the tostada with no salsa, but NO. Apparently customer gets what he gets. If that was my restaurant or I'm the manager, I'm eating the cost of the tostada and making customer right. Maybe it's just people these days and good customer service shouldn't be expected anymore. I had driven by this restaurant so many times. Finally decided to stop and try. Parking was a bit challenging as they were very busy. We ended up parking across the street. Once inside it is cafeteria style. Loved that I could watch my tacos and tostadas being made. The tacos al pastor was my favorite. Truthfully everything was good. Customer service was top notch. There was a self serve salsa bar and drinks. Tables turned over pretty quickly. Menu was limited but it was enough. I went back the following week and had a wonderful experience. It was a Sunday afternoon when my husband decided we should host a handful of friends at our house after a pickleball tournament in Mesa. I was driving home when I saw the text and decided we needed food in the house to feed our company. I quickly looked up Taco Viva's menu (as I'd been wanting to check TV out for awhile) and decided that their Paquete Familiar (Family Pack) option was the way to go. Each family pack includes "your choice of protein (1 lb), 15 housemade fresh tortillas and "con todo" toppings on the side." I went with one family pack with chicken (pollo) and one with steak (asada). They also offer a pork (pastor) option as well as mushroom (hongos). I'd be down to try those next time too... These worked out perfectly and I was pleased with how quickly they were ready as well. I was also impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant, all of the fun signage, merch, etc... As others have said, it almost looks like a chain because of how professional everything looks, but it's a local business that has clearly put a ton of thought and effort into everything they do. From the branding to the fresh ingredients, friendly staff, and everything in between, I'm super impressed and will absolutely be back soon! read more

From the moment I walked in, Taco Viva brought back memories of Tacos El Gordo. If you've been to Las Vegas or San Diego, you'll know what I mean. From the color scheme to the prep area, the two businesses seem quite similar. Thankfully, the line at Taco Viva moves much faster. The employees work quickly and there's plenty of seating available. When the weather's nice, step onto their patio. The food was amazing! While the Carne Asada was slightly dry, everything else made up for it. The Al Pastor is a "must try", so please don't pass up on it! With good food comes a price. I checked the menu (posted in pics here) before heading over, but the prices have increased. Wow, oh wow! The parking lot was jam-packed and we were worried that there'd be no room inside, but the place is massive and plenty of seating was available. The menu is painted on the wall - order up and then wait for your food to be delivered at the counter. And yes... it was delicious. Spicy and flavorful all around. Did these tacos nearly change my life - yes, they almost did! They were flavorful, delicious and in the world where the economy is what it is, they were cheap! GREAT SIMPLE TACOS!! I stopped in for an early dinner on a weekday, and the place was surprisingly quiet. The staff, including the cashier, were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. I sampled a bit of everything--Asada, Pastor, Pollo Asado, and Hongos tacos, plus the Tostada Pastor, Especiales Gabacho, Chips & Guacamole, and Carlota de Limón. Each taco was generously filled with meat, which was packed with flavor from the marinade and the smoky char of the grill. Even the veggie taco was a standout, with beautifully caramelized mushrooms. It's hard to pick a favorite, but as a big fan of pastor, that one was my top choice. The Especiales Gabacho was a bit too heavy on the cheese for my taste, but for cheese lovers, it would probably be a dream come true. The Tostada Pastor, however, was so good that I might even prefer it over the tacos. The guacamole had a bit too much garlic powder for my liking, but the Carlota de Limón was a real treat--like a cross between key lime pie and banana pudding. Yelp brought me to Taco Viva and I'm so thankful it did! I wasn't sure what to expect where first arriving. When you walk in, you order and pay first. They have a wide variety of tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, etc. to choose from. Once ordered, you move down to where you're greeted and the staff assemble your food in front of you, as well as add whatever toppings you'd like. I had carne asada and al pastor tacos...10/10 on both! Each taco was loaded up with meat and toppings, and I added some of their salsa options to each as well. The tortillas are next level, as they're made in front of you as you order. I also had the chips and queso which was delicious and definitely shareable! The staff were friendly and welcoming the whole time I was there. It felt like family was running the restaurant and they were inviting you in to join. I tried the Carne Asada mula and my gf tried the Al pastor mula which is basically a quesadilla with meat I also tried the Al pastor tacos and they really load it up with meat!!!! They also give you all the toppings and the guacamole and chips also bomb!! Everything we had was so delicious. The meat was juicy not dry and salty. I highly recommend this place 10/10 for sure!! I keep passing by this place and was curious to try it. It is a simple but quick and tasty place for good tacos. It reminded me of Five Guys but for tacos! The interior is filled with booths and tables. The decor is red and white. The menu is on the wall - they serve the basics but they do them well. You go up to order and then bring your food to your table. We ordered some tacos (one of each kind) and chips and salsa. The tacos were all excellent. The salsa with the chips was on the spicier side - beware! The price is very reasonable and the service is super friendly (the people behind the counter said hello and waved when I walked in). This place is very nice inside and out. We stopped by on Sunday for a late lunch and it was pretty busy. The cashier was very friendly and cheerful as she took our orders. We ordered: Three mulas (two al pastors, one carne asada) One carne asada tostada Two chicken tacos One carne asada taco Two fountain drinks After we paid, we waited a few minutes for our turn to hand over our ticket to one of the taco men. Once our turn, we picked our toppings. We went with the "con todo" which is guac, salsa, onion, and cilantro. We picked one of the few empty tables that was towards the back and had to wipe it down. I saw other people also having to wipe down their own tables as well as they had crumbs and waste from previous customers. The food was good, but I would've loved for it to be hotter. By the time I sat down, my tacos were lukewarm. Our favorite meats were the al pastor and chicken. The mulas are delicious! The cheese that they are using is doing its thang - SOO good. We tried both tortillas - corn and flour and our favorite were the flour ones! Mmmm. There is a salsa bar by the soda fountain if you are wanting some more. The bathrooms were clean.
