I tried the Carne Asada Vampiro, a carne asada taco, and a carne asada mulas. I wanted to sample a little of everything for the most part, and are no regrets with my choices. The Vampiro was the standout: crispy, cheesy, and smoky with just the right amount of char. It's like a taco and a tostada had a deliciously rebellious child. I love a good Vampiro taco. The carne asada taco was solid, classic flavors, well-seasoned meat, and a freshly made tortilla that held its own. The mulas, good as well, cheesy, meaty, and satisfying, like a quesadilla with a mission. Service was friendly, and the vibe was casual but lively. This place is way too fancy to be called a hole in the wall, but the tacos feel like jewels you might find at an unsuspecting out of the way taco shop. The Al pastor meat is tender and juicy and creates quite a spectacle when it's shaved off the huge rotating meat log. I loved the green sauce on the al pastor taco. Hubby was obsessed with the carne asada tacos. We probably wouldn't get the Vampiros again because the tostada was a little tough, but they were still tasty. Looking for a quick taco and Taco Villa is new to the hood. The restaurant is clean, brite and very engaging with the clientele. Staff here is cleaning all the time. The menu is painted on the wall. Service is delivered with enthusiasm and a smile. I ordered the carne asada tacos with cilantro and salsa fresco on a flour tortilla. The food was hot, a bit more juices than needed and decent size. The next taco was the el pastor pork with grilled pineapple, cilantro and tomatillo salsa. This was my favorite with good flavor and again, generous meat. The hongos taco got my curiosity since it was mushrooms and was equally tasty with cilantro and salsa. The meats or entrees need to be drained prior to placing them on the tortillas. The excessive liquids make the tacos very messy. I went through at least 10 nakpins. Overall, Taco Villa was ok but not on my must have list. The lines here are long and lots of families. Have been here numerous times and just want to keep on going back. The service is top notch and it felt like we were teleported to Mexico. The red and white decor, music and vibe inside make me feel happy. The staff is friendly and efficient, always with a smile. I love their tacos "con todo". I usually wind up with pastor (yep it has pineapple as it should) and pollo, and horchata is my beverage of choice. Theirs is perfect...not too sweet. This place is as authentic as it comes....its a super fast, high quality, great tasting spot to eat your tacos, mills, and vampiros (my favorite). Now, the negative....a huge, sterile cafeteria, serving $4 tacos whose entirire "salsa bar" consists of three runny salsas and a few lime wedges., No cabbage, no carrots, no nothing else. They advertise "CON TODO" like they are hugely proud (onion, cilantro, saldsa, and guac) so I order it that way from the cashier. They ask me once again after I produce ny receipt for preparation, "....con TODO??" YES, like the receipt says. What I got for $8 plus was two very skimpy tacos covered in what can only be described as mayonnaise-based white jizz. Seriously, who advertizes guacamole than smothers their MEAT tacos in this white puke? When I picked up my tacos, the cook said thanks, to which I replied thanks.....but he did not hear me so he yelled after me "...YOU ARE WELCOME!" I find this a hopelessly a gringo hipster taco joint who puts "crema" on their pastor and asada when they advertise guacamole. I have driven past this place too many times and decided last week that I was going to try them for lunch today. I let my coworkers know and one of them decided to place his order with me. Since they open at 11am I arrived before 11:30am and the parking lot had quite a few cars in it. I walked in and it was so lively with the music and greeting from the team. It was like the team cooking in the kitchen all said welcome in, hello, or hi each at different times which was really cool. The restaurant was very spacious and noticeably clean. I ordered a Carne Asada taco, a Pollo taco, and a Gabacho. My coworker ordered chips and queso along with a Mula Pastor and Mula Asada. When I made it back to the office I gave him his food and I went to my desk to dig in. I was thoroughly pleased with the food. As I was eating, I received a Teams message from my coworker that read..."This place is really good". Lol, I had to stop eating for a second to respond...It sure is!. Everything was cooked to order and I loved the fresh made corn tortillas. I ordered the Carne Asada with it and the Pollo taco on flour. Mmmm it all was so scrumptious. Taco Viva in Phoenix completely lived up to the hype I had heard, offering a fantastic lunchtime experience. Though the line was huge, it moved remarkably fast; you order at the counter and then quickly queue again to have one of the cooks prepare your meal right there. My go-to local taco place as of now, this gem stays close to its cultural roots while serving delicious, authentic tasting food. You must get everything "CON TODO" WITH EVERYTHING, ALL THE TOPPINGS. You get the option of corn or flour as the base. I loved the Al pastor taco served with juicy bits of pineapple. The guac, onions, cilantro tasted wonderful paired with the carne asada taco. The mushroom taco was surprisingly tasty, don't skip on it. The small quesadillas are a little too similar to the tacos so I usually skip this one. Service is friendly and efficient. FYI the fries are topped with a very spicy salsa, so I ask them to serve it non-spicy (because I'm weak) and they'll hold the salsa. It's still topped with a nice nacho cheese sauce, sour cream, and guac. There's a station to add milder salsas if you want. I appreciate that when they serve the fries, they're actually really crispy! This place doesn't beat the taco places I've been to in San Diego (I mean, they're right next to the border) but it's a much welcome substitute and comes pretty dang close. read more

Well as you may or may not know, I'm always very honest with my reviews. That being said...This place is good!! Very crowded on this Saturday night, it was even hard to find parking here. That's usually a great sign. You order and pay at the register, then take your ticket to the "taco makers". They put all the fixings on for you. I ordered the large carne asada/pastor fries. (Yes you can split the meats). Delicious!! They have a small salsa bar but mine was good as is. Very tasty carne but the pastor was awesome. Cooked on a vertical rotisserie with pineapple on the top. Food was good, but honestly with my party of three, we combined, couldn't say it was captivating. It tasted well, especially with the added sauces but no real punch as a styled, cuisine. Everything is fresh, even on the condiment table. We had an assortment of about 4 different dishes, all with genuinely good taste, and we'll definitely come back for a second round but because we didn't identify a truly 'winning' dish, nothing stood out, per se. However, let me please recognize everything else! A wonderful building, Swag to purchase, extremely happy personnel, eager to help you out. Once Taco Viva opened, I had about two friends recommend coming here within a two day span so I stopped by when I was nearby. Everyone was raving about their Al Pastor and I will say unequivocally. They have the best Pastor store in Phoenix. I would say that the other options are great, but if going for the first time, I wouldn't mess with anything other than that. The parking situation there is relatively similar to most restaurants in Phoenix where it's limited, but it might be good to plan in advance where you'll park. Inside there's enough seating for large or small groups. There's even room for standing up and eating at the countertop.
