I have to confess, changing the torta to using a French baguette is sacrilege. The bread difference is so notable that it's like having a grilled chicken sandwich from some cheap delicatessen. Heavy-set Hispanic guy (younger guy with green eyes that acts sharp) Whoever you are, you're a fool that's ruining the experience, and you don't look like you're enjoying working there. You should leave. Grabbing plates from people, raising your voice " you're grabbing too much pickle", and ruining the entire vibe of the restaurant for other customers by rushing them to order and conveying a rude "hurry up and pay" attitude. I really want to like this place as when thee food is good it's really good, but when it's bad it's really bad. I have had the Enchiladas Oaxaca a few times. The first time it was okay, the second time it was amazing. I mean really good. The third time absolutely horrible. The Taquito (Oversized) were completely different than usual and different from the picture and were a greasy mess. The Taco Shredded Beef in this order hardly had anything in them at all. Again this place can be really good or really bad and you never know what you are going to get. Unfortunately I was looking forward to my meal and was disappointed. Atmosphere was great, the prices are very good, each day there's a different special. We got a to go order. The blackened chicken taco was delicious. The enchilada a bit dry and tamale, was good. The taste and the heat were excellent on both. My family didn't care for the Horchata even though they said they made it themselves there. What was delicious we both thought was the Mexican wedding cookies. The flan was good too. What was concerning, was having my daughter bite into her carnitas taco, on our drive home, and then telling me from the passenger seat; "There's plastic in it!" I actually pulled off the side of the road and told her that's just lettuce and she says no Dad it's plastic... when we got home we examined it. Yes it's a burnt piece of small plastic. I called up the restaurant three times, it would go to voicemail and they did not pick up. (please see pictures). not sure if I would go back because the situation was very inconsistent, in our freezer there is now an unfinished taco, with a piece of plastic wrap for me to show them (the restaurant ) next time we are driving by. Located off Chapman in a strip mall I haven't been here in years! So what a surprise to see it updated with a larger dining room and bright interior. Menu is nearly the same as before. They have a taco special- 2 tacos rice beans and a fountain drink for $15. Hubby went for that and got a steak taco and Al pastor. He liked the beans and rice a lot but felt the taco meat was a bit chewy/tough. I had this wonderful Tomato soup and bowl- with brown rice and veggies. We got some chips and salsa from the salsa bar. Mine was good but the soup will bring me back- wow! Rich, flavorful and very tomatoey. Delish. Service was friendly - you order at the counter and they call your name. No table service. Oh Mai goodness what a pleasant surprise! I thought this place looked like where you would go to have a wedding reception not some goooood Mexican food but I was proven wrong. I got the carnitas burrito and my partner got the al pastor tacos. They both hit the spot. His had so many flavors and mine was very filling and felt like the perfect comfort food. Havent been here in a couple years. My buddy and I stopped in today, he ordered 2 crispy shredded beef tacos, rice and beans plate. The girl said $11.75, I stepped up and said I wanted a plate also with 1 crispy shredded beef taco, a cheese enchilada, rice and beans. She took about a minute punching a lot of buttons, told me she was getting me the cheapest price and then said $25. Im like no, OK just give me the same as my buddy: 2 crispy beef tacos, rice and beans. She redoes the order and tells me $19. I asked how the same plate could be 2 different prices and she acts like she doesnt know what Im talking about. We politely disagree for a minute or so and then she redoes it and says $16 and I just say whatever. When the food came I picked up my first taco and took a bite. I felt something hard, started working it around in my mouth and pull out a bone. Then I felt another, and then two more. They were slightly shorter than a toothpick and about twice as big around. I was pretty freaked out and was going to take it back, my buddy try another bite and see.
