Not much to add that hasn't already been said! Amazing tacos, burritos, and...crucially: sauces; made from scratch! The attention to craft is remarkable especially given that they are located in paradise where everything is probably going to feel amazing anyway! The added bonus is the on-cart scavenger hunt to find all the Mexican wrestlers. It's difficult. I failed.

Got the Cali burrito but they ran out of beef and pork, so I went with chicken instead. Waited over 30 minutes in line starting at 5:30 PM. Pro tip: call 15 minutes before they open to skip the line and score free guac. Food took about 10 minutes once ordered. Burrito was tasty but a little too salty for me. Outdoor seating available--nice casual spot to chill. Plus, there are other food trucks nearby if you want to explore more options.

One of the most legit spots on Kauai. Food was great and tasted how I expected it to taste - like back home in LA where we have lots of great Mexican food. They do it right here! Located in a little group of food trucks. Go across the way for some awesome shave ice and coffee too. You won't regret it here in Koloa. Guys were friendly and took our order over text. Get it in before 1045am to pickup and save time!

SO glad I stopped by here. I've seen the truck on my past visits to the island, but never tried them out... Until now. Had I known what I was missing, I never would have waited this long! While you wait to order, they have 6 "hidden" wrestling action figures you can look for. We found 4 (I guess we have to go back to find the other 2... darn!). The crew was so friendly and welcoming. Onto the food. Carne asada taco- super flavorful. The shrimp taco was AMAZING. Absolutely delicious. The rice... ooomg... can I have the recipe?! All in all, this will definitely be a repeat when I visit again. Thanks Taco Libre!

If you're looking for Mexican food on the island, look no further than this unassuming taco truck. The burrito was excellent with a flour tortilla griddled to perfection and a good mix of rice, beans, cheese, meat, and cabbage. I got a side of guacamole that was super tasty as well. It did not take too long for my food to be ready, and I dined with others near the trucks. I'll absolutely return.

Not only the best Mexican in Kauai, but the best Mexican food in Hawaii! We tried the Cali burrito, Meximoco, Chile relleno and elote corn. All were so delicious and my family loved every dish. Cali burrito was definitely our favorite and might be one of the best burritos I've ever had. I can see why they were awarded #3 food truck in the US from Yelp. The two that were selling in the truck were super cool and friendly. And the truck is set up in such a beautiful spot in Koloa. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back. Got the chicken & fish tacos and a (massive!) pork burrito. Great portions for the price and totally delicious. We were both well-stuffed. Took our food to go & ate outside the botanical gardens as we awaited our tour - had a family of 5 stop in their tracks and ask "Where did you get that?! " and heartily thanked us for the advice when we directed them to Taco Libre. Their salsa choices are off the charts as well. Soooooo so good!

Found Taco Libre on IG a couple weeks before our Kauai trip. I was very impressed with what they stand for and what they don't. Aaleiyah and Christian make a great team and they make great food. Tried the Cali Burrito. It's all about the fries. Next trip I have to try their version the Loco Moco. Can't wait. Check them out. Don't forget to order your drinks NO ICE

Great Mexican food, and in Hawaii of all places. We got the Cali burrito. It was great and had both carne asada and al pastor meat. Solid salsas on the side too. Burrito was a bit small, but it was good. I lived in Mexico for a few years and I think any Mexican spot that only has Pepsi and not Coke is a little sus. The truck is in a nice little park with plenty of places to sit. Food came out pretty quick and they opened right when they said they would.

BOMB a** Food - Delicious salsas - Worth the journey Not much else to say other than go get yourself a taco. I have traveled to several places in Latin/Central America and am always a little bummed when I order Hispanic food in the states because it's never the same. Welp, this is one that is a close contender for the best tacos/burritos I've had in the U.S. So good we came back twice! We came right when they opened so didn't have too long of a wait, between both visits we ordered a shrimp taco, carne asada taco, cali burrito and a seafood burrito. Cali burrito? Best burrito I've ever had, hands down. It has pork and carne asada with crispy French fries inside, plenty of fixings...what a delicious combo. Carne asada tacos hit the jackpot, spiced and cooked to perfection. Shrimp was tasty and the seafood burrito was jam packed with flavor and fillings. The salsas are a must try, they reel in the flavors of the dish and made it an outstanding meal. It's in a cool location just on the outskirts of the little downtown, you're close to a brewery and plenty of other shops. They even had live music onsite! The staff are THE friendliest and go the extra mile to make sure your order is right and the food is top tier. Gotta go - I'm telling ya, it's worth it!

OMG, This place is the bomb!! Best fish taco that I've ever eaten. Hands down. Fresh mahi mahi smothered with all the delicious sauces. I also ordered one of the pork tacos. Very good, especially if you like your food with a little heat. It definitely had some spiciness. But the fish taco was AMAZING. Next time, I'm just going to order two of those. Yes, I'll be back again soon!!

Having known this couple for quite sometime, it's so great to see the journey they've through and what hard work n determination will get you. From them working for someone else, to opening there own truck hasn't been easy, but now that they are up and running the sky's the limit. When great food is matched with humbling personalities it just makes your day even better. You can catch them down in Koloa across Sueokas Sunday-Wednesday and at the Hanapepe Art Night on Friday's. Fish tacos were amazing! Service was great! The burrito- was one of the worst burritos I've ever tasted. I'm from California there was zero comparison. I'd skip this place if I returned to Kauai, if I was in the area might stop by for the tacos but would probably choose somewhere else all together. read more

Yummy! Yummy! Yummy Vegetarian Tacos for my tummy. It's hard to find good food on Kauai, so I was thrilled with Taco Libre. They were busy so it was a wait in line and then another patient wait for our order. With four people diligently working to get the food out they really delivered. Super polite staff and really good food. Give them a go and while you wait, try to find the five wrestling action figures hanging around the truck. read more

Asked a local and she said hands down Taco Libre was the best place to eat and she was right. Tacos are fantastic and they are very generous with the guacamole. The elote is delicious. Can't wait to try the burrito next time. If you are in town this is definitely worth the stop. read more

Smelled it from a mile away! Local truck but crowed like a 5 star restaurant. Couldn't decide on their delicious burritos or their special mexi-loco so got both and a delicious burrito bowl! Staff is super friendly and providing the best service to their customers. Too bad im not a local or i would be here everyday. A definite favorite to come to over and over again when visiting Kauai. read more

The surrounding area was lively with a someone playing live music. They had outdoor seating which was nice and umbrellas for the rain which was considerate. The line is a bit long so be prepared. Great selection of food to choose from. read more

Thank goodness for Taco Libre Food Truck!! After visiting and seeking out good Mexican food on all of the Hawaiian islands (and living on Oahu for 3 years) I'd accepted the fact that we just couldn't find legit tacos in Hawaii. Yes, there are a few decent places scattered throughout, but nobody that I've found pays such close attention to detail. Incredible food, homemade salsas and those spicy onions were an unbelievable topping. Wishing these guys all the success! read more

Waited in line for 40 minutes, there was only 4 parties ahead of us and then another 20 to get our food. I realized they get phone or text orders and they are trying to squeeze them all in out of that small truck. I'd give it a 3 or 4 because of the long wait but really the food was awesome and they were super nice that I can't fault everyone for wanting to eat there. Plus an added bonus they're prices are very reasonable (for Hawaii prices) and good size portions. read more

Not just any food truck lunch... Taco Libre is TACO HEAVEN! Fresh ingredients, amazing flavor, friendly service...what more could one ask. I ordered Da Classic with sour cream with the special of the day which was a slow roasted beef.... SO GOOD! The rice inside of the burrito was delicious. A hint of cinnamon, I don't know.. maybe? ..everything was just so put together and delish. The truck personnel were so great and helpful in helping us choose the perfect lunch items. We stopped by for a seafood burrito, and we were not disappointed. Service was great and we were quickly served our burrito, which the staff had kindly already cut in half for us. The seafood portion was ahi as well as shrimp, both cooked perfectly. The rest of the burrito was traditional beans, rice, cheese, etc. All delicious, but the seafood really shined. They had a variety of salsas as well, all tasty, of varying spice levels. We'll definitely stop by again when we make it back to Kauai! read more

Yall! Coming from California the taco capital! I would have to say I was really judging this taco truck hard. All the tracks were delicious. I ordered the vegetarian tacos and it was slap yo mama good. They made them tacos thick and delicious. The flavors were there and they didn't hold back. My husband got a California burrito with El pastor and asada and it was a prefect balance. Daughter got a side of fries with cheese. She's simple and loved her order. read more

History

Established in 2020.

Logo: Being a luchador (wrestler) takes endurance, dedication, and time. Our journey with the food truck wasnât easy and we had to fight to get where we are at today. It's been a rollercoaster of events but itâs something we absolutely LOVE doing. Although there were times we wanted to throw in the towel, we told each other that we can not give up. Thatâs why we chose a luchador, a true fighter as our logo. -Luchadores are known for having beautiful unique masks. We decided that we would decorate our mask with a scorpion. Durango, the town in Mexico my family is from, is well known for their venomous scorpions. -Finally, we thought it'd be a funny play on the movie Nacho Libre!

We've visited both locations, and while the food was excellent at each, the Poʻipū location lacked the warm, welcoming spirit you'd hope to experience while visiting Kauaʻi. This food tasted of love and passion and there was no lack of attention to detail on this plate. It's not only the best BBQ on this island, but I'd be hard pressed to think of anywhere better... And I've eaten some damn good BBQ all over the south!

It was just okay, the espresso is a little more on the acidic side and I couldn't taste any vanilla flavor. Definitely not the worst latte I've had in Hawaii, but for the cost of lattes nowadays, I wouldn't come back to try more of their menu until I try other local coffee shops first. I don't post reviews often even though I self admittedly am one of the more critical consumers (I can't help it, chef life), but I had to take the time to say just how great this little truck is. 1. The owners are so nice and appreciative they'll make your day! 2. I pride myself on knowing *good* Mexican food having grown up in California, and this is by far the best Mexican food I've had since living in Kauai. Like literally everything is delish and pretty close to authentic, to the point where you'll be craving just their simple beans and rice. I can't wait for the day they add more to their menu! The Mexi-Moco is something everyone should try at least once. It's Taco Libre's take on a loco moco with a delicious Mexican twist. The Chile Relleno is another standout, but be warned: it's popular and sells out fast. Get there early if that's what you're craving! Yes, the lines can be long, but for good reason. I ordered the seafood Burrito with fresh Mahi Mahi and shrimp and my girlfriend ordered a carne asada quesadilla. Wow. From the first bite I knew something was different. The Shrimp and fish was delicious and it tasted amazing! My girlfriend loved her quesadilla, had some of my burrito and she loved it as well. We tried this food truck on a whim and it did not disappoint. We got the Mexi- Moco and the Al Pastor Carne Asada fries. We could not decide which we liked more. So much flavor and I am a sucker for cilantro which they did not skimp on. The fries were so crispy!! They held up the crispness with all of the sauces and meet on top but the eggs on the Mexi- Moco took that dish to another level. We will be coming back to this food truck. read more
