Poke bowls
Ali S.

Stopped here for lunch on our way back to our hotel and this was a hidden gem for sure. Apparently this spot is one for the locals and we can see why!! The staff is quick, happy to help, and loves what they do. You order at the counter, can pick up homemade desserts, drinks, etc while you wait for your food and pay once it's ready. We ordered 1 small poke bowl (1 poke - tuna) and 1 medium bowl (2 types of poke - tuna & salmon) with each coming with I believe it was 2 or 3 sides. We got the ocean salad, edamame, and cucumber kim chee. Everything was delish and we ate it on the porch out front, dipping the chips into the poke. Cute little spot that is clean, has the freshest fish/poke, and great staff!!

Definitely order way too much food every time we're here. Our favorites were the tuna and salmon (salmon is very rich/fatty). Kimchi cucumber is refreshing and the tako was good. Seared ahi was kind of meh sadly. Overall, a great spot that we always return. The flavors, in my opinion, is not their strongest suit but the fish is the best part: fresh and delish.

Love love love this place. One of my favorite poke spots in town. We went here multiple times on our trip. The maui onion ahi and spicy ahi were some of our faves. Also loved the teriyaki spam musubi. Grab and go place. The service is friendly and the line moves fast. They also have other cooked items on their menu as well as snacks, chips, drinks, desserts inside. Will definitely be back

This might have been the best poke I have ever had!!! Fresh fish and quality ingredients! Wife and I each ordered the 3 protein large order. I tried the smoked marlin for one of my proteins and that was fun. Even the cucumbers were fresh with an amazing sauce on them. Portion size is ENORMOUS too! They put them in a bag, handed them to me, and I was shocked at how heavy the bag was! Located in a converted house there are no tables to dine in, they do have a spot to stand and eat in the front porch. Didn't matter, we took everything to our hotel!

By far the best poke I've had on Kauai. The fish is so fresh and meaty, it's by far the best I've probably ever had in general. Make sure you check the times / days this spot is open during your trip here, you need to make sure you check this out. The market itself is so cute and they have some cool merch + other fun things they sell. The service is quick and easy, in and out in a breeze. Absolutely loved each type of fish I tried here and had to make it a point to come back another day during my trip. It says a lot that my fiancee, who doesn't love raw fish in general, really wanted to come back here for more. This is a 10/10 must try!

Medium poke bowl. 2 choices of poke, 2 sides, and rice.

Service is still horrible and they still don't allow patrons to dine on site. Why?? Poke isn't that good to put up with attitude and poor customer service.

Salmon poke

The first meal I had when I went to Kauai this past April. And it was amazing! I got salmon with the teriyaki sauce. Wish I would have gotten a bigger size bowl. The service was fast and friendly. You can tell that it's a popular place, parking was a bit tricky but we got lucky with a spot right away. Definitely recommend if you're in the South side of Kauai

7.16.25- Korean chicken
Kim I.

I have to say that coming here hungry is a bad idea, you'll want to order pretty much everything on their menu and you will NOT be disappointed. Everything tastes so fresh, caught just for you to enjoy. The chicken plate was crispy and portions were generous. The Lau Lau plate was seasoned so well that (disclaimer) you will be licking your fingers to make sure you've absorbed all that delish flavor. Service was incredible, fast and inside you'll find so many other treasures/treats to take back home or eat there. Parking is tricky so really you gotta just go for it and if it's meant to be then have at it because this fish market is like no other. It's easy to miss if you drive by fast so go sloooow. The poke was fresh, great to eat on its own, chips, rice etc you get it. Can't wait to come back and visit this wonderful homey spot!

Shoyu, Maui, & Wasabi Poke
Joyce P.

This is the best poke on the island! Fresh and fish is tender. The Shoyu is perfect not too salty, I am always hesitant on getting Shoyu but they do this marinade justice. You really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Make sure to head there early so you can get the flavors you'd like because they sell out. The Mac Salad was good too, bits of veggies in it. The total was around $60 to share between four people which I thought was reasonable price being everything is a little overpriced on the island. There's some decent poke spots around the island but don't waste your time and come here for the freshest and delicious flavors.

Korean poke and avocado ahi poke bowl

Located in Koloa town kauai. Omg omg omg! So fresh! Easily the best poke in kauai! So much flavor! We ordered a poke with 2 fish to share, the avocado ahi fish and the Korean poke...which was tuna with marinade and it was the best poke I had in my life. If I can give 10 stars, I would. It is always busy here and we waited around 8-10 minutes, no complaints. There are standing tables to eat at outside. Watch those chickens.

Korean Ahi Poke
Luis M.

This was a small joint with no place inside to sit. The vibe was definitely reminiscent of a fish market. You walk in and the first thing you see is a display case with all of their poke offerings. On opposite ends of the display case is where you place your order, and where you pay and pick up your order. It was pretty busy inside with people's random chatter as well as others putting their orders in and paying. They had a line that was almost out the door but it moved very quickly. Workers weren't the most friendly/welcoming people I met, but it didn't ruin the experience or anything. All in all this place probably had the cleanest, most fresh poke that I got to try during my Hawaii vacation. We opted for the Korean Ahi Poke, and that came with white rice, edamame, cucumber namasu, and furikake. While the poke definitely tasted clean and fresh, it didn't pack the punch of flavor I was expecting. Overall, a 4/5 experience.

Salmon, Maui Onion, and Spicy Ahi Poke

When you come to Hawaii, you have to eat poke and if you didn't, did you really come to Hawaii? Koloa Fish Market was the first stop on our food tour in Koloa so we had high expectations. We parked around the main town where all the shops are but there is a parking lot in the rear. When you walk in, you'll be greeted by a large window display of various poke of different fish and different marinades. You can order poke bowls which come with sides like rice and edamame but to conserve stomach space, we just ordered quarter pounds of the poke itself. There isn't any seating here so we stood outside on their front patio, eating along the rail. After you're done, there's a handwashing station and trashcans on the patio too. I got salmon, Maui onion, and spicy ahi. Honestly, the poke here didn't really stand out for me. And at the higher price point, I thought at least the fish would be crazy fresh or the marinades super flavorful. We also found several fish bones in the salmon so that was fun. We left kind of disappointed but hopeful that we'd find something better to redeem our experience before the end of the trip.

Mark M.

Wonderful fish of the day meal for $18! The poke was so / so of a dish, somewhat expensive, maybe needed more rice. Very popular fresh fish!

Ask the Community - Koloa Fish Market

Is there a place to sit down and eat or is it to-go only? Also, saw a picture that there are no public restrooms...what about customers?

There is no place to sit and eat. Some people eat in their cars or just take it to go. The food is really amazing so it's worth it. There's no public restrooms for customers.

Any one know if they are going to be open for sure on Monday (Presidents' Day)?

I just asked the cashier and she said yes they're open on Monday, 2/20

Is there parking nearby?

yes! they have a small private lot

Is it still cash only?

I paid CC no problem.

Looks so delicious! Are there many gluten free options?

All kinds of fish pair it with what you want.

We sat on the patio but they call the main dining room however it is outside. The host and the servers were very nice on both days helping us choose our dishes and beverages. The first night were shared the shrimp and unui (sp?) patties. They were tasty and slightly sweet but over-charred and the sauce served with them did not complement them very well. It needed a fresher sauce or something with a little kick The first night I Had the chicken Which is actually a tiny little bird I should've known from the name. - pouisson. It was well cooked, but there was very little meat on all of the bones. And also needed a sauce of some kind. The one baby bok choy was a nice addition. Two of the group had the fish and chips it was made with swordfish that night and was very tasty. However, the chips were slightly limp and not hot. No one wanted to return them, but they really were not very good. One of the other entrées was the veggie bowl with seared Aji tuna and it had quinoa at the bottom with lots of roasted beets and other vegetables. It was a very good dish. The second time I ordered the grilled seafood bowl because that night they were offering Oppa as the grilled fish on the kebabs/skewers that were served on top of the bowl the seafood was cooked, absolutely perfectly, and it had pickled cucumbers, pickled red onions, slightly cooked carrots, and then regular cucumbers on top of lightly dressed soba noodles. It was a very tasty and hearty bowl. We also ordered a kale, beet and blue cheese salad for the table, but what came out was their strange version of Caesar salad, which has chickpeas on it which of course we did not want. It took them quite a while to bring the kale and beet salad to the table, however when they did, it was quite tasty a combination I would not have thought of on my own The first night we ordered the passionfruit cheesecake which had a strange chocolate crust that was too thick and a very light topping of passionfruit. It was fine, but we would not order it again. The whole restaurant is a nice change from all of the really overpriced offerings in the area. The food is fresh and tasty and the service is professional and fun at the same time.

We ordered takeout and while waiting for our food, we browsed the grocery aisles and then checked out the surrounding shops. I really enjoyed the Ahi poke bowl. There was this tasty kimchi cucumber on the side with sweet o ions and avocado. The fish was fresh. G got the quinoa and vegetable bowl, topped with roasted chicken. It was a delicious salad with beets, macadamia nuts, kale, and more- and the chicken was nice and moist.

We sat on the patio by the pool and luckily the umbrella was large enough to block the sun! The food all tasted great. The crab dip with 6 or 8 pieces of toasted focaccia was high quality with real crab not surimi. We ordered the flatbread with chicken instead of pork and it was also very good with a nice crispy crust and moist chicken chunks. The wedge salad was a large piece with crisp bacon, candied pecans, grape tomato halves and a tasty dressing. It only needed some red onion to make it perfect. The calamari were crispy but the portion size was too small and the pieces of calamari were too small so the ratio of crust to fish was too high.

We were told that the pupi portions were large and could easily be shared. This was true and we split the calamari and my husband found it to be too salty. We both had the fresh catch. He had ahi tuna and I had mancha which I was told was like halibut. It was thinner than halibut and reminded me of mahi-mahi. It was suggested to have it pan seared to make sure it was not overcooked. Well, it was a bit fry from being overcooked. I had a double portion of green vegetables which turned out to be 4 pieces of asparagus. My husband's ahi was served a bit more than seared and rare. His sides were 2 pieces of asparagus and a piece of carrot. In essence we each had a small piece of fish and a small portion of vegetables. This was a mediocre meal in a beautiful setting. They need to step up their game.

Well, we ate at Red Salt back to back nights and twice for breakfast so that should tell you something. Our first dining experience was an in restaurant dinner and I almost didn't give 5 stars is because the dining room itself could use a nice interior designer to help match the ambiance to the high quality food and service. The server was terrific and accommodating. I had a non traditional meal choice - scallop appetizer and bisque soup- and she smartly offered to add an additional scallop since I was making the dish my meal which I appreciated especially because the scallops were exquisite! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Just delightful and the bisque was also delicious. Now my husband's meal , the braised short rib osso bucco style was truly amazing! the meat basically fell off the bone and was perfectly paired with the mushrooms and puréed potatoes. I don't want to overlook the starters that set our expectations- delicious delicate pear salad and the spicy hamachi crudo with just the right amount of kick! And even though we were stuffed, we couldn't pass the dessert - flourless chocolate cake and affogato! Both chef's . we loved that meal so much we ordered a condensed version of it for room servide the next night. As for breakfast, I think what we liked was that they did a great job on the classics. My husband had a traditional eggs and bacon with potatoes and I had the waffles and both were a solid 8-9. Again great service. I would say the price for breakfast is pretty spot on for the ambiance, food quality and service. I feel that the dinner entrees which while excellent, feels a bit steep $50-70 for the ambiance but as you can tell by our back to back meals, we still went back for more because none of the other restaurants we ate at on the island came close to the quality. If you get a chance, definitely reserve one night to dine here. you won't regret it. :)

The cocktails are quite large, so you can still get the $7 price if you order a soda or sparkling water as your second drink. The waitress was super helpful and let us know that last night!
