If you're in Poipu, the Koloa Fish Market is the go-to spot for some of the best poke in the area. Be sure to arrive early because this place gets busy. Like most popular poke shops, it's best to know what you want before you get to the counter, or you might feel a little rushed. The line can get long, but it moves quickly. There are plenty of poke options to choose from, and the Kalua pork is another must-try. Parking can be a bit tricky, so be prepared to circle or wait for a spot. There are covered outdoor tables where you can enjoy your meal. The staff is friendly, and it's a good idea to bring cash.
The parking is a bit tight, and there's no seating, but they have a large patio for you to enjoy your poke. I ordered the Maui onion small bowl with the cucumber kimchi and seaweed salad; all of which was really good. I was surprised all the bowl sizes come in the same container. We also got a Mac salad which was really good and light, but very small. My husband also got a musubi which he liked but said it was a bit dry as it had been sitting out.
Good stuff. The pork lau lau was almost as good as grandpa's A few types of poke. All were good. Hard to mess up Musabi, that was good too. It was all good. We would definitely go back. Service was fast and with a smile. I would say there is much ambiance. It's a quick order counter. But a small porch to stand, eat and people watch for a moment. Small parking area in back. If you can park on the street. Do so. It will be easier.
We mainly wanted yo check out this place because of their dessert options. This place is mainly known for their poke bowls. However, there was not a vegetarian option for us to try so we simply went with the dessert. We got their Ube Haupia. This is a traditional Hawaiian dessert made out of coconut milk and starch. It looks like a jelly and has a very creamy texture. Tasted yummy as well! Must try! Ambience and service was good as well.
The market opens at 10am 5 days a week, closed Sunday and Thursday. We arrived at about 10:30am on a Tuesday. We ordered at one counter and pay and picked up when your name is called. The market looked and smelled clean. The employees were friendly and helpful. We ordered a pound of octopus and a half pound of salmon poke. This is a great portable meal for the beach which we did. The food was fresh tasting and flavorful. Looking forward to returning for some ahi poke and kimchi. Highly recommended!
The food was pretty good. I got a quarter pound each of the spicy ahi and Maui onion, the flavors were great for each but a tad salty, so definitely would recommend getting it as a poke bowl so the rice can cut through it. Also a relatively small parking lot, so be considerate of the amount of time you're spending here! Go enjoy your food at a beach or park :)
This has got to be one of the best pokes I've had. We got the furikake soy salmon and wasabi cream ahi (locally-caught). The fish tasted great -- fresh, not gamey, and the sauce/seasoning is just the perfect amount. It does busy around lunch... Well actually from when they open till closing.

The staff is quick, happy to help, and loves what they do. You order at the counter, can pick up homemade desserts, drinks, etc while you wait for your food and pay once it's ready. We ordered 1 small poke bowl (1 poke - tuna) and 1 medium bowl (2 types of poke - tuna & salmon) with each coming with I believe it was 2 or 3 sides. We got the ocean salad, edamame, and cucumber kim chee. Everything was delish and we ate it on the porch out front, dipping the chips into the poke. Cute little spot that is clean, has the freshest fish/poke, and great staff!!

This was a small joint with no place inside to sit. The vibe was definitely reminiscent of a fish market. You walk in and the first thing you see is a display case with all of their poke offerings. On opposite ends of the display case is where you place your order, and where you pay and pick up your order. It was pretty busy inside with people's random chatter as well as others putting their orders in and paying. They had a line that was almost out the door but it moved very quickly. Workers weren't the most friendly/welcoming people I met, but it didn't ruin the experience or anything. All in all this place probably had the cleanest, most fresh poke that I got to try during my Hawaii vacation. We opted for the Korean Ahi Poke, and that came with white rice, edamame, cucumber namasu, and furikake. While the poke definitely tasted clean and fresh, it didn't pack the punch of flavor I was expecting. Overall, a 4/5 experience.
I've been telling my buddies they haven't had good poke till they have it in Hawaii. Quality fish was below average as seen in my photo of uneaten inedible tough ahi. Got the maui Ahi and had no flavor. Warm ahi with no flavor and poor texture left me super disappointed. Flavors of sides and sauces were on point. Foodland (market) up on the north shore had the best poke I've ever had. Flavor and and quality of fish was unreal. And the portion for $11 bucks was outstanding.
Service is still horrible and they still don't allow patrons to dine on site. Why?? Poke isn't that good to put up with attitude and poor customer service.

Our favorite poke of the trip! It was conveniently located near our hotel, the fish was incredibly fresh, and the service was fast but still friendly. So, so good. We would absolutely come back here next time we're in Kauai! read more
This is a great spot to get a poki plate. Everything tasted fresh. Parking is very limited. We had to wait for someone to leave so that we can park. They have a stand only counter space out front. It's a nice view of the street. I really like that they had a sink outside to wash your hand before and after eating. They have to go snacks and jerky as well Merch. Their macaroni was ok. It's portioned for about four spoonfuls. It had potatoes in it which I wasn't expecting. I bought a masubi as a to go snack. It was pretty good. I had the best fish plate. I chose the spicy Aji and shrimp. I got it with the edamame and cucumbers. I really enjoyed the crunch and the freshness of the cucumbers. The only thing I would suggest is that the plates could use a little more rice. read more
We stopped by for a late lunch and decided to split a plate so we could save room for dinner. As it turned out, we didn't need to worry the portion was more than enough for the two of us, and we ended up surprisingly full. The staff was fast and friendly, and our food arrived quickly. It was a simple, satisfying meal that hit the spot without feeling overly heavy. The setting is beautiful, and there are plenty of shops nearby, so it's easy to make an afternoon of it- grab a bite, enjoy the surroundings, and explore the area afterward. read more

The food was pretty good. Definitely order way too much food every time we're here. Our favorites were the tuna and salmon (salmon is very rich/fatty). Kimchi cucumber is refreshing and the tako was good. Seared ahi was kind of meh sadly. Overall, a great spot that we always return. The flavors, in my opinion, is not their strongest suit but the fish is the best part: fresh and delish. read more

Must try! Love the smoked Marlin and the rest of the poke is fresh! Service is quick and efficient. Just a downside, no seating but I prefer standing at the patio or sitting under the acacia trees!! read more
I have to say that coming here hungry is a bad idea, you'll want to order pretty much everything on their menu and you will NOT be disappointed. Everything tastes so fresh, caught just for you to enjoy. The chicken plate was crispy and portions were generous. The Lau Lau plate was seasoned so well that (disclaimer) you will be licking your fingers to make sure you've absorbed all that delish flavor. Service was incredible, fast and inside you'll find so many other treasures/treats to take back home or eat there. Parking is tricky so really you gotta just go for it and if it's meant to be then have at it because this fish market is like no other. It's easy to miss if you drive by fast so go sloooow. The poke was fresh, great to eat on its own, chips, rice etc you get it. Can't wait to come back and visit this wonderful homey spot! read more
This is the best poke on the island! Fresh and fish is tender. The Shoyu is perfect not too salty, I am always hesitant on getting Shoyu but they do this marinade justice. You really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Make sure to head there early so you can get the flavors you'd like because they sell out. The Mac Salad was good too, bits of veggies in it. The total was around $60 to share between four people which I thought was reasonable price being everything is a little overpriced on the island. There's some decent poke spots around the island but don't waste your time and come here for the freshest and delicious flavors. read more

The Korean chicken at Koloa Fish Market was really tasty and had a nice crispy texture. I liked the seasoning and the overall flavor, but I felt like the sauce was a bit much for me. The portion was a good size, and overall it was still a satisfying meal. read more

Love love love this place. One of my favorite poke spots in town. We went here multiple times on our trip. The maui onion ahi and spicy ahi were some of our faves. Also loved the teriyaki spam musubi. Grab and go place. The service is friendly and the line moves fast. They also have other cooked items on their menu as well as snacks, chips, drinks, desserts inside. Will definitely be back read more
This might have been the best poke I have ever had!!! Fresh fish and quality ingredients! Wife and I each ordered the 3 protein large order. I tried the smoked marlin for one of my proteins and that was fun. Even the cucumbers were fresh with an amazing sauce on them. Portion size is ENORMOUS too! They put them in a bag, handed them to me, and I was shocked at how heavy the bag was! Located in a converted house there are no tables to dine in, they do have a spot to stand and eat in the front porch. Didn't matter, we took everything to our hotel! read more
When you come to Hawaii, you have to eat poke and if you didn't, did you really come to Hawaii? Koloa Fish Market was the first stop on our food tour in Koloa so we had high expectations. We parked around the main town where all the shops are but there is a parking lot in the rear. When you walk in, you'll be greeted by a large window display of various poke of different fish and different marinades. You can order poke bowls which come with sides like rice and edamame but to conserve stomach space, we just ordered quarter pounds of the poke itself. There isn't any seating here so we stood outside on their front patio, eating along the rail. After you're done, there's a handwashing station and trashcans on the patio too. I got salmon, Maui onion, and spicy ahi. Honestly, the poke here didn't really stand out for me. And at the higher price point, I thought at least the fish would be crazy fresh or the marinades super flavorful. We also found several fish bones in the salmon so that was fun. We left kind of disappointed but hopeful that we'd find something better to redeem our experience before the end of the trip. read more
Located in Koloa town kauai. Omg omg omg! So fresh! Easily the best poke in kauai! So much flavor! We ordered a poke with 2 fish to share, the avocado ahi fish and the Korean poke...which was tuna with marinade and it was the best poke I had in my life. If I can give 10 stars, I would. It is always busy here and we waited around 8-10 minutes, no complaints. There are standing tables to eat at outside. Watch those chickens. read more

By far the best poke I've had on Kauai. The fish is so fresh and meaty, it's by far the best I've probably ever had in general. Make sure you check the times / days this spot is open during your trip here, you need to make sure you check this out. The market itself is so cute and they have some cool merch + other fun things they sell. The service is quick and easy, in and out in a breeze. Absolutely loved each type of fish I tried here and had to make it a point to come back another day during my trip. It says a lot that my fiancee, who doesn't love raw fish in general, really wanted to come back here for more. This is a 10/10 must try! read more
Parking located in the back, fish is delicious and fresh. Service is friendly and the inside is small. They sold jerky with some unique flavors so I had to try. We got the Maui Onion and Pineapple. Maui onion tasted like soy sauce so I don't recommend, and pineapple was mediocre at best. Score is based on the fish, but I reviewed the jerky since it's a product they sell. Koloa Fish Market was a must place to try out before we headed to the airport. My friend highly recommended the avocado poke, so I was curious to try it. They don't open till brunch time, so we waiting in the car till opening. Lot is small, so be prepared to wait a bit. Once inside, the big glass case displayed the different types of poke they had. I chose the spicy & the avocado poke bowl. They also had fresh musubis made which was great to grab for my daughter since she doesn't eat poke. Spicy poke: 9/10 I wish it was actually spicy. It didn't have any type of spicy kick in it. Avocado poke: 6/10 sorry it wasn't for me, but it is a 10/10 for my friend. Everyone has a different preference. For me, the avocado made the poke like a milk creamy flavor, which didn't match the fresh fish. It was like a cleaner option though. For those tryna get that protein in lol. Customer service was good, payment & all was smooth. I do wanna try the other poke they have there one day when we come back. read more

Hands down our favorite meal in Kauai. We drove by several times during our trip and always saw a long line queuing outside. They are only open for lunch hours and after missing them one day because they are also closed on Thursday and Sunday, we finally made our way over for lunch on one of our last days on the island. We wish we came by sooner! Everything is so good and so fresh, from their Hawaiian plates to their fresh poke. We were most excited to try their poke but the real star of the show was the Hawaiian plate. We got the Hawaiian Combo plate which came with lau lau and kalua pig, both of which were cooked to perfection and paired so well with the rice and chicken long rice. They have a small parking lot so you may need to park nearby and walk over. Line seems long but it's because the actual space inside is small so the line spills out. Once you're inside, ordering is pretty quick. They have a bunch of small treats (cookies, brownies, seasonings) you can pick up while you're waiting as well as cold drinks and sides (poi!) you can grab from a refrigerated section before checking out. You order first and then pay at a different section of the counter when you pick up your food. Everything we had was amazing and priced decently. Highly recommend! read more

Fresh, perfectly grilled ahi in tasty sauce. This plate lunch is way better and much less expensive than the pricey restaurants in town. Several locals were getting food, so you know it's good! The market closes at 3, so go for lunch or get takeout for dinner. Even the t-shirts were reasonably priced. read more
A nice place to grab some poke around the Koloa area! It can get busy since the shop is a bit smaller inside. We got there right at open and there were quite a few people that kept flowing in and getting to go. There are high tops outside for you to stand and eat if you want to eat there. Ordered a half pound of salmon--unfortunately, it wasn't as fresh as I'd hoped, and a couple of pieces were too tough to chew. On the bright side, the sweet potato haupia was unique and absolutely delicious--definitely worth trying. Service was efficient, and the market has a casual vibe with no indoor seating, so most people take their food to go. There are also sweets and other local goods on display, making it a nice little stop while exploring the area. read more

FYI: Small parking lot so keep that in mind come in during busy times. No seating. The poke was fresh and solid. Portions are on the smaller side. I ordered a medium, and didn't feel quite full afterwards. Overall, a solid place to get your poke fix. I recommend walking 5 min afterwards to grab shave ice at The Fresh Shave! read more

This is the place. Best fish on the island. So fresh. Line out the door. Only open 11-3pm so come early and expect a line. It's a tiny place. I'd recommend looking at the menu ahead of time. We got poke bowls and my hubs enjoyed Ginger chicken. Everything was delicious. read more

Is there a place to sit down and eat or is it to-go only? Also, saw a picture that there are no public restrooms...what about customers?
There is no place to sit and eat. Some people eat in their cars or just take it to go. The food is really amazing so it's worth it. There's no public restrooms for customers.
Any one know if they are going to be open for sure on Monday (Presidents' Day)?
I just asked the cashier and she said yes they're open on Monday, 2/20
Looks so delicious! Are there many gluten free options?
