We were very happy to stumble upon the fact that this was a restaurant in addition to a market. We came twice in three days. We sat on the patio but they call the main dining room however it is outside. The host and the servers were very nice on both days helping us choose our dishes and beverages. The first night were shared the shrimp and unui (sp?) patties. They were tasty and slightly sweet but over-charred and the sauce served with them did not complement them very well. It needed a fresher sauce or something with a little kick The first night I Had the chicken Which is actually a tiny little bird I should've known from the name. - pouisson. It was well cooked, but there was very little meat on all of the bones. And also needed a sauce of some kind. The one baby bok choy was a nice addition. Two of the group had the fish and chips it was made with swordfish that night and was very tasty. However, the chips were slightly limp and not hot. No one wanted to return them, but they really were not very good. One of the other entrées was the veggie bowl with seared Aji tuna and it had quinoa at the bottom with lots of roasted beets and other vegetables. It was a very good dish. The second time I ordered the grilled seafood bowl because that night they were offering Oppa as the grilled fish on the kebabs/skewers that were served on top of the bowl the seafood was cooked, absolutely perfectly, and it had pickled cucumbers, pickled red onions, slightly cooked carrots, and then regular cucumbers on top of lightly dressed soba noodles. It was a very tasty and hearty bowl. We also ordered a kale, beet and blue cheese salad for the table, but what came out was their strange version of Caesar salad, which has chickpeas on it which of course we did not want. It took them quite a while to bring the kale and beet salad to the table, however when they did, it was quite tasty a combination I would not have thought of on my own The first night we ordered the passionfruit cheesecake which had a strange chocolate crust that was too thick and a very light topping of passionfruit. It was fine, but we would not order it again. The whole restaurant is a nice change from all of the really overpriced offerings in the area. The food is fresh and tasty and the service is professional and fun at the same time. read more

Best poke bowl that I had on Kauai! This restaurant has outdoor seating and also a health-centered grocery store inside. It's in the main Poipu outdoor shopping mall area. We ordered takeout and while waiting for our food, we browsed the grocery aisles and then checked out the surrounding shops. I really enjoyed the Ahi poke bowl. There was this tasty kimchi cucumber on the side with sweet o ions and avocado. The fish was fresh. G got the quinoa and vegetable bowl, topped with roasted chicken. It was a delicious salad with beets, macadamia nuts, kale, and more- and the chicken was nice and moist. read more

This was a dinner that we accidentally happened upon, and I love that it ended up being my favorite. We actually wanted to try a few other restaurants in the plaza, but the wait times were too long and I'm glad we ended up here! It's an open air dining area attached to their market; a bit loud but otherwise the ambience was fine. We see beer money and the wine menu were great and the wine options were also very affordable I'll say we ate at Tidepools ,Keokis Paradise and Beach house for dinner so far this week - Im generally a wine plus salad plus fish girl and this was my favorite salad and fish combination all week ! The beet and kale salad was just really flavorful with the Mac nuts, soft cheese and light dressing - just delicious ! Normally I'm just trying to get greens in my belly but this was actually tasty Their fresh catch of the day was Ono, and just incredibly tender juicy well flavored. Sure you don't have the ambience of some of the other dinner spots but it cost half as much and was twice as good ! We also got the smash burger which was a tad overcooked but otherwise fine. Also had the Med which was a mediterranean dish that sounded interesting since it came with taro based falafel's - it was alright ; sounded a bit more exciting on the menu. The kids Keiki Chicken drumstick was one huge, tender, deep fried drumstick; but the best part of it was the fries that it came with, which was like triple fried or something because it was just amazing. read more

I ate at the restaurant with friends. I had the catch of the day ($33). I forgot the name of the fish but it had miso sauce, black rice, and bok choy. All these ingredients came together so well. I also had truffle fries on the side ($7). I love french fries and these were some of the best I've had. The staff was very accommodating even though they were closing within the hour. They were very through to answer any questions we had. We got our food quickly. It just finished raining and we sat outside. I liked the rustic vibe. read more

Had the best poke bowl today while shopping with "foodie" friends. We came for a little something and 3 of us ordered the bowl. We loved the pickled cucumbers and I ate almost all of it but the portions were huge for my 20$ and there was so much poke! Everyone there was so friendly and helpful too. There was a health food store and sit down as well as tables with servers. We got our lunch in a box and enjoyed on patio which had sufficient seating with choices. Really disappointing experience. Sat down at half empty restaurant and placed order quickly. We were all excited to have some fun cocktails! Food came quickly (and was tasty) but drinks were clearly forgotten and we were told "bartender got slammed" but most people were drinking beer or were already served.... Clearly server error. When our drinks came 30 minutes later we were finished with our food we said we needed to leave and asked to take drinks off bill. Server just took the drinks back with a "sorry it's my first day". Then we got bill and drinks all on there plus a salad we didn't order. We can understand first day server errors but what really disappointed us was the lack of management or a more senior server coming over to check in along the way (could have helped with drink issue much earlier!) or apologize at the end. Family lives on the island and we are here often but this probably won't be one of our stops in the future. read more

We stopped into Living Foods a couple of times during our stay--once for breakfast and once for lunch. For breakfast, I ordered the chicken and waffles (a favorite of mine whenever I see it on the menu). The fryer wasn't up and running yet when we arrived around 9am, so we had to walk around the plaza and come back at 9:39 to place the order. Once ready, it was worth the wait. My husband had the loco moco, which he really enjoyed. On a previous visit for lunch, my husband ordered the smash burger with fries (note: fries are separate--sandwiches come with coleslaw by default), and I went with the ahi BLT. Both were fresh, flavorful, and nicely done. Overall, Living Foods has a nice variety and everything we tried felt fresh and well-prepared. I love this market for minimalist açai bowls. No over the top adds or too much sugar. Just simple. Also a coffee bar and bakery. They carry Manoa chocolate and a lot of speciality deli items. Don't you hate it when "healthy" =/= "tasty?" That is not the case at Living Foods. You can get fresh-squeezed fruit juices, delicious charcuterie, and local favorites like a loco moco (all of which I had for brunch) during a visit here. Servers are friendly, they keep your water topped off, and what I really liked is that they politely chase the feral chickens away with spray bottles (the chickens were here before you, so respect them!). Seating is outside basically in the breezeway of the shopping center, so it's nice and cool. Get out of the air conditioned comfort of your usual breakfast spot and come here. read more

The food here was fantastic and the drinks pack a nice punch! We had the Caesar salad with the fish of the day - the Smokey flavor was a perfect meat to complement the flavor of the salad. We also had the garlic hummus which was phenomenal with the veggies and bread. The drink of choice was the Iron Buttocks....50% moonshine was the perfect amount and complemented with strawberry puree to make a really nice tasting drink! The service was on point with our waitress being responsive and making great recommendations. The music was upbeat and welcoming, which really made for a nice and peaceful evening outside. It was so good by the way that we went back again the next night for our final hoorah on the island - we ordered the seafood pasta, the garlic hummus, and the Caesar salad along with their special old fashion and a Mai Thai! Drew's customer service was everything. My friend and I went there last night considering it was one of the few places opened and ordered a salad, wings, and a smoothie. Smoothie and salad were great. My friend's chicken wings were taking a while to come out of the kitchen, so Drew offered my friend a free pastry for the wait, which was kind. After my friend received the chicken wings, she noticed that they were lacking flavor and were slightly overcooked. As we were about to leave, Drew came up to us and asked how the wings were. Great market, but decided to try the restaurant for the first time today. The Monchong fish was the catch of the day and it was prepared perfectly. The forbidden rice was yummy and cooked perfectly as well. He also had the blackened ahi and the furikake tater tots. They were both also very good. This place is a true hidden gem. About 6 oz of grilled Ono white fish, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickled cucumbers to give it some flavor, along with spicy tomato remoulade sauce. Fish perfectly cooked, although went better with the sweet creamy sauce with the $33 broiled Ono dish. Through pictures saw that the bun was far bigger than the fish. Came with a delicious pineapple cole slaw. Wife's $33 broiled Ono came with a generous 9 oz portion of grilled Ono white fish, black rice, bok choy, with a pool of absolutely incredibly sweet creamy sauce that made the meal incredibly delicious. Still hungry as didn't order the huge bun with the fish sandwich. Ordered the $18 quinoa vegetable bowl. Liked this dish a lot, but the portion size was huge, and could feed two people. Difficult to digest that much raw kale, but it went well with the mangos, beets, sliced tomatoes, macadamia nuts and onions in the sweet lilikoi vinaigrette sauce. This is an upscale, little market. It was our first stop on our way to our hotel. We bought our breakfast items for the following morning. It had a small deli/restaurant and bar (we didn't eat there). What we did buy was fresh and perfectly sized for our needs. We had a great meal and drinks at Living Foods and it's definitely worth a stop if you're near Poipu. We started with the deviled eggs, chicken wings, and shrimp--all were super flavorful, especially the wings which had just the right amount of heat and crispiness. The smash burger was tasty but the star was the butcher cut ribeye. It was seared to perfection, juicy medium rare and came with this peppercorn sauce that I'm still thinking about. Seriously, a really good steak. Cocktails were on point too--I went with "Uncle's Old Fashioned" and it was smooth, balanced, and had a nice island twist. The vibe is casual--perfect for a relaxing outdoor dinner without being too fancy. Service was friendly and quick. I tried Living Foods for breakfast. I received great service with a smile and love the outdoor seating. I enjoyed sipping on an Americano and the quiet morning with a nice cool breeze. It's always hit and miss here. But the prices remain high. We go here because of some vegan options which aren't much but there are some dishes which we order again and again. Every time it's different. Never great, but okay. Today, the dishes were smaller and very blah. No taste. Nothing was seasoned. Just blah. Needs salt. Portions get smaller each time we come. I think we'll give this place a rest for a while. For our starters: French fries and hummus veggie plate. The concept of this place is wonderful. The execution and customer service are absolutely awful! We've been here a few times and have stood at the register for 30-60 seconds before even being greeted. I'm totally fine to wait while another task is being finished, but how little effort does it take to say hello, welcome, aloha, or something to recognize the presence of a human being who has sought out your business to give you money in exchange for a product and/or service.
