The wife and some friends were visiting Kauai for the week and staying in Poipu. The three stars are for the food, I will give 5 stars for the service. Our waitress and anyone else that helped were fantastic! Again, 5 stars for the staff. Now to the food. I ordered the Chicken Pineapple sandwich as did the wife. See the awful picture I took. Rookie move. The wife and I agreed that it was OK. We were hungry after our travels so it hit the spot. At $24 could have been better. The one friend ordered the fish and chips. That was made with Ono and he was very excited to order that. He was bit disappointed by the meal. It was a firm "OK" when asked about how he liked it. The other friend ordered the poke bowl. Came in for shaved ice with my mom and girlfriend on 9/22/24 around 6pm. It was alright but the sour highlight were the kids working the counter. Incredibly rude customer service from one, the other was just quiet. The rude one would roll his eyes and sigh while my mom and girlfriend were ordering, would talk in a monotone and sarcastic tone but maybe that's just how he is. I said thank you to him, loudly, and he blatantly ignored me as well. Would not recommend anyone going here unless you want average shaved ice and rude customer service. I understand long days, I work in the restaurant business as well but I would never act like that towards any customer. 0/10, avoid this place. Stopped by before going to the beach. The place is run by two guys who prepare the food themselves so if they're busy service may be a bit slower. But the food was pretty good! I had the breakfast burrito. The guy did a great job of making the eggs, stirring them constantly over low heat, exactly how it should be done. The burrito and sandwich are a bit on the small side but the prices reflect that. They had an impressive selection of drinks in their fridge. And a good amount of pastries. LOVE! This is our FAV place to go to every family trip! After many years of going here we recognize the same employees and we always have a great experience! They are always so nice to us! We probably go here 2-3 times daily during our vacation and always leave happy! My only ask would be to make more brownies so I can make my macadamia nut and brownie Sunday!! We were in line for Puka dogs and the gal behind the counter an the Deli side said we could order drinks to go- grab and go alcoholic beers. So we placed the order, but she couldn't ring us up because she was under age. She got another person to do it, but instead of helping us he said with a scoff and a huff that they were closed. This is the new home for Puka Dog's. The service here was okay. When we walked in, the employees looked at us and didn't say anything. One girl stood by the register and another employee walked away. The Area in the store is very clean and neat. Most of the thing's in there are a little pricey. But since you're at the beach, it's kind of convenient. Like if you run out of drinks, snacks or alcohol, you could just go there to pick up more. If you need sun block or beach toys, they have it for you. They also make fresh sandwiches and shave ice. Unfortunately we weren't there for those things. We were actually there because we were craving for Puka Dog's. And when you're hungry and expect to have good hot dog like you always do, coming here was a big disappointment. I'm sorry to say if you're expecting a flame broiled hot dog, you won't get it here. They now put their all beef dogs on the hot dog roller grill and the taste is not the same. Also the fresh squeezed lemonade tastes like sugar water. I was kind of disappointed because I placed in a phone order and when we went there to pick it up, we saw the employee nuke our hot dog in the microwave. Such a big disappointment!! Best thing about this place is the music! Cranky staff, not friendly and not fun. Lots of limitations and restrictions without any good vibes. Just really serious sandwich making that is average at best. There is never a line for the deli, only for the hotdogs next door (even though they are just as rude). Bring your own lunch to the beach and save yourself the hassle of dealing with the folks at Brennecke's Deli who clearly do not enjoy their job. Not sure what the guy taking my order's problem was, but I really annoyed him somehow? I ordered two sandwiches and he rudely told me that he needed to write things down for each sandwich (I'm sorry, I didn't know). This is my first review and is going to be a little bit long. We stayed a week in a rental house just a few minutes from the Brennecke's and we went to this place every day, however we had to regret the service provided by two people who are working there: the old lady who was so unpleasant and the man with short hair who seemed like not interested in what he is doing with no interest towards the customers (we believe his name is Ryan as shown in the receipt). Both of them made our experience at the Deli a bad one. Fortunately a team of very young people working at night made us in the last four days very happy, delivering us a Great customer service. We cannot forget the dazzling smile of the cashier with the braces (Asian) who always greeted us with pleasure. He always talked to us in a nice way, seemed so passionate with what he is doing, and so we wanted to give credit to him along with the young workers who made us great sandwiches and smoothies. Unfortunately the place looses 2 stars for the two workers who we have mentioned at the begging, but we give all the remaining 3 stars to those who really highlighted our stay here in Kauai, and those are the young ones. read more
