Cute place and my son liked their shave ice. This was his first time trying it and he liked it. He got the Caterpillar (orange creamsicle). Their menu is a little bit limited but they do use better and more natural ingredients. The location is in a cute little plaza with lots of seating outside and it's shady as well. I tried it and it's a little too sweet for my taste, but everyone has their own preference. It was a good experience overall and the servers were nice and friendly as well.
What an adorable trendy place. Friendly staff and quick service. I got the Chevron (lime and coconut). It was SO good. Very refreshing and honestly was so perfect. I could eat that every day!
Absolutely fantastic shave ice!!!! Don't go anywhere else in Koloa. It's an adorable shop that makes all of their toppings and syrups homemade and you can definitely taste the difference. Super high quality shave ice and you get a lot for the price. We will definitely be back!!! My personal favorite was the Chevron.
I'm sure anything you order here will knock your socks off but the Fu Manchu was what made this shave ice lover fall to her knees. We came here for a post dinner treat and so glad we did because it couldn't have been more a more perfect night. It's nestled in Koloa, where this gorgeous tree is above and just sets the mood for any night. So much space to sit, or walk around the shops. They had some really adorable merch as well that I regret not buying, but next time for sure. They use can sugar so much healthier options for yourself and the little ones. What more can you ask for right?
The shaved ice is pretty good. Not spectacular but good. The girls were super nice working in the shop. The store is cool It has a nice vibe.
Getting a great cool snack on a hot day after a morning full of sightseeing, all I can say is "ahhhhh". The girls working behind the counter were very pleasant and informative. The explained their menu items and even told us about their #1 off menu item "the imperial" which is a mixture of two shave ice items. I won't spoil it for you, you'll just have to order it for yourself and enjoy the flavor. Prices were fair and I believe average. Parking is limited so you may have to park in the Sueoka market lot. Overall the Fresh Shave was a good choice.
You had me at fresh. That's what makes The Fresh Shave superior to other shaved ice I've tried. No artificial flavors or weird food coloring--just ice and fruit and cream! Yum! It was topped off (no pun intended) with super friendly staff who delivered service with a smile along with a fresh and fun brand vibe. The only way you could say something negative about this place is if you were truly looking for a barber and were disappointed to find that the fu Manchu was a delicious treat instead of a mustache style.
Such a cute trendy little spot! All the ingredients are fresh and they shave the ice right in front of you. Everything was definitely on brand - from the names of each shaved ice to the straws - I loved the mustache theme. Also have to mention how friendly and conversational the staff was.
A fresh and yummy take on the shave ice. This place is the real deal with fresh syrups from real ingredients. The flavor options were unique and it was so hard to choose. We went with an off menu rec that had strawberry and coconut, almost like a lava flow. The ice was light and fluffy and the syrup was super flavorful a great option if you are looking for something with more natural ingredients.
Koloa, Kauai It's called shave ice, brah! It's not a snow cone, or Italian ice. In Hawaii it's shave ice. Growing up, we always ate shave ice with synthetic made syrup. Strawberry was my favorite. Fast-forward to being a grown up. I will never have shave ice unless the syrup is homemade with real fruit, and the treat is topped with fresh fruit, coconut, pineapple or homemade coconut chia cream. The ice must be shaved super fine-chunks are out. At this point you've got gourmet shave ice. The best cold, sweet treat on a hot Hawaiian day in Koloa, Kauai!
Located in a small cute shopping center with live music from the coffee shop next door. Unlike many other shave ice spots where you choose your flavors and toppings, The Fresh Shave has a few specialty shave ice to choose from. We went with the caterpillar, which truly made you feel like you were having a creamsicle. This was definitely one of, if not, the best shave ice I've had. The ice is infused with flavor and is on the creamier side resembling a sorbet. There are no artificial flavors on the tongue. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
It was just fine for us. We decided to try one of their new flavors The Einstein which is supposed to be blueberry basil lemon but couldn't taste the basil at all. We could only taste the lemon more towards the end when the ice melted more. The honey on top was so bitter too. Overall it was more bitter/tangy than sweet and not really a fun sweet adventure considering how hyped up I felt looking at the way they decorated their place. Maybe I should have just gone with their most popular flavor, not sure. Overall it was just okay. But service was really nice! And ambiance was really cool/clever.
Located near Old Kōloa Town, this is a spot that's not to be missed! Google Maps may mess with you a bit. From Poipu, it took me into a residential area behind the shops. I recommend just parking in the business lot and walking over. When we walk in, you're immediately hit with the smell of fresh citrus. It smells like a smoothie shop! They prepare their own syrups in small batches without the use of artificial additives, preservatives or colors. They were literally cutting fresh fruit for their toppings as we walked in. My youngest got the Fu Manchu (strawberry, banana and cream). I couldn't decide between the Caterpillar (orange creamsicle) or the Chevron (lime and coconut). They informed me they just finished making the items for the Caterpillar so they were super fresh, so I went ahead and opted for that one. Wow! This may have been my favorite shave ice on the island. So flavorful, refreshing, and I loved the fresh fruit on top! Thank you, Fresh Shave!

WARNING!! This place will ruin you for all other shave ice! I am not kidding. It's that good. When my son-in-law texted that the barber shop had shave ice, I was worried. (It's NOT a barbershop... but easily mistaken for one.) All made with real fruits. Orange is real orange; not a sugary syrup. We heard them say they had swap out the açaí cone for blueberry-basil one of our days because Costco didn't have the açaí juice. This is by far the best shave ice I've ever had anywhere and I don't know if I'll ever have another shave ice without thinking about this one. Only problem we had was going back for a second time. First time we tried, they were out of all the fruit recipes by 4:00. The next time we got there by 1:30 and the store was closed for maintenance. We are trying again today. Crossing my fingers I can get The Caterpillar. read more

Hands down the best shaved ice place in Kauai in my opinion! We got the Chevron, which was coconut + lime with coconut chia seed on top -- super refreshing after a long hike! The fruit syrups did not taste overly artificial or too sweet, which is my gripe with a lot of shaved ice places (for example, I did not like Jojo's Shaved Ice as much). I want to come here again to try their other flavors! There was essentially no line when we went at around 4pm on Friday, and we got our shaved ice very quickly after we ordered. We ate outside in a beautiful outdoor area with benches shaded by trees. Parking might be kind of hard to find depending on time of day. There is a small lot near the musubi truck, as well as a few street parking spots out front. read more

This place truly is fresh! I came here in 2019 when it was just a food truck, but now they've moved to a shop in old town Koloa. The shave ice is delicious. Fresh toppings on top of a more natural flavored shave ice makes for great stuff! read more
I couldn't even get a picture of my shave ice because I ate it so fast. It was probably the best one I've had on the island. Service was quick, the center where it's located is a dream. The seating is under some gorgeous trees and you can even run across the way to grab a coffee or pastry if needed. Loved it. read more
Best shave ice in Kauai, don't even waste your money on the other ones as I did. First time I went for the Chevron, wife usually shuns coconut but loves coffee so tried Dirt Squirrel. Fresh spun and shaved ice was an excellent base, flavored halfway before shaving more and finished with toppers. - Chevron = first scoop into my mouth and this was the ONE! Wow, what an awesome flavor! So refreshing with creamy smoothness. Absolutely incredible flavor. 5 stars, or 10 if could! - Dirt Squirrel = coffee on shave ice maybe doesn't work as well, but this one was just way too sweet to be devourable. Wife had a spoon of my chevron and it was off to the races to attach the chevron! The chevron flavor was so memorable, the next day wife wanted to get it again. 30 mins from east side hotel, not a problem for me to drive for this kind of flavor. But store closes at 6pm, so could not... With schedule fully packed daily, not easy to get back to the Koloa area with all the things to do. But down to the last day on Kauai, had to go for The Fresh Shave no matter what. Time was a nailbiter leaving for it after all the day's to do's, was going to be a toss up whether could get there by 6pm. Reached at 5:55pm, and the place/lawn looked empty and store kinda dark?!?!?! Rushed to the door and saw them starting to clean up, but quickly entered since door was not locked, WHEW! :) The kind gals were able to serve up some final shave ice before closing. Since wife stole Chevron the first time, it was not enough. Got 2 chevrons to make sure we each have our own, and even got the orange creamsicle for the kid. We sat on the outside table and savored the Chevron for the last time and it was as awesome as the first time. Even when the ice melts towards the end, it just becomes the best slush ever. Kids orange creamsicle was tasty too, but nothing can touch the Chevron for the best in my book. The Chevron flavor was so excellent, I would say it's GOAT for shave ice. It made me trying to duplicate the flavor at home to try to make an alcoholic beverage out of it, lol. Anyway, The Chevron at The Fresh Shave is a MUST have on Kauai. I recommend hitting it on the very first day to try Chevron since you will want to have it every day you are there... read more
Been following them on social media for a while. The last two times here we weren't able to come. Today, no line as we were there in between busy times. I got "the catapillar" - basically and orange cream shave ice. Really good! Fresh natural juice with accream topping, with orange zest. It was good enough, that my wife who didn't want one ate half of it. Really good! read more

Delicious Hawaiian Shaved Ice While honeymooning in Kauai we had to try some delicious Hawaiian shaved ice. We ordered The Chevron to share it tasted like a key lime pie with lime, coconut milk and chia seeds on top of the shaved ice. I liked how they had organic and all natural favors to make it a healthy refreshing sweet treat for us. This is a hidden gem in Old Koloa Town a must visit. It one of the top shaved ice places around Kauai. Just a few shops and restaurants around the small little town. read more
How can you go to Hawaii and not have shaved ice? This is a friendly place to get your quick fix. I have a pic of their favorites or make your own. There isn't any indoor seating, but there is plenty of seating in the adjacent common courtyard. As you can see in my pic, the shaved ice was appropriately sized. The texture was on the smooth side and there were plenty of flavorings. Parking in this part of town is a bit tough; we parked in an adjacent parking lot and walked over. read more

My husband and I came to Kauai on vacation for our anniversary. We've had other shave ice places but none have compared to this one! We had to come multiple times during our stay in Koloa because we enjoyed it so much! I really love the fresh fruit they add on top! And the flavors are just so yummy! I have tried the Fu Manchu and The Professor and my husband had the Catepillar and The Dirt Squirrel. The spot is super cute. And the names of their shave ice are so clever . The service was quick and all the workers we encountered were super friendly. I already told my husband the next trip to Kauai we will be back to this spot! read more

Stopped by The Fresh Shave and tried the Orange Creamsicle shaved ice--super refreshing and just the right amount of sweet. The flavor combo hit a perfect nostalgic note without being overpowering, and the texture was smooth and fluffy, not icy or chunky like some places. The staff was friendly and the whole vibe felt laid-back and local. definitely worth the stop if you're in the area and craving something cool! read more

We came at the perfect timing! (Long line formed while we were enjoying our icy treat!) Interesting flavors, but we got THE FU MANCHU and THE CHEVRON. Both were so delicious, my boys didn't want to share. Pros: Fast service SMOOTH ice! Snow balls for kids 3 party limit inside at one time Cute wallpapers for pictures Cute outdoor seating/tables Kamaaina discount Cons: Parking can't be a bit struggle but we were lucky to find a spot Limited bathrooms We will be back!!! read more

Love the humor of this place. Lots of funny messages and the display of the rude unwarranted Google review. I disagree with Kristina! The shaved ice flavors are unique and refreshing. Everyone was really nice! If you're in the area and need a shaved ice fix, come check it out! read more

After two trips to Kauai and now the Big Island, this is still my favorite shave ice! They use real fruit and it really makes such a big difference. The only thing I wish they did is put ice cream under the ice but there's also nothing wrong with just classic shave ice. The area around this shop has also expanded and is way nicer than it used to be which makes it fun to sit outside. read more

Cute location next to a one of my favorite coffee shops. The texture of soft shave ice with a healthier syrup. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a lighter yet flavorful alternative to traditional shave ice. Would definitely return and request extra toppings (not sure if that's an option). Love the design and children's book nook out front. Friendly and fast service. Ample parking and outdoor seating. read more

This might be one of the best shave ice I have had. Fresh banana on top. Absolutely delicious and can't wait to go back! The girls working were so sweet. read more
Was it worth one hour wait absolutely NOT! It's a cute little store and concept but far from being good. I've never had shaved ice where I had to toss it after two bites. Kids didn't like it at all~~ I would definitely pass this shaved ice. There so many other locals that have amazing shaved ice. read more

Aloha Janet!…
Is there any way I could give 10 out of 5 stars? This is the highest quality and most unique shave ice you could find anywhere, ever, in the history of the universe. No sticky, sugary syrups--everything is made in house with fresh ingredients. People confuse the name for a barbershop, so they have some kind of fun mustache theme. Friendly kids work there. Shaded outdoor seating the courtyard with other shops and eats. I guess there's a shared bathroom, but I don't see it just glancing around. When is the next time I will come anywhere to the island of Kaua'i? Will I go to The Fresh Shave? I yearn to know... If you choose to give a thumbs-up or not, I hope you found my review helpful! read more

The Fresh Shave came highly recommend by friends and in happy to report that it did not disappoint! The space is small and quaint, conveniently located right across from some amazing food trucks! The staff was nice and even put me on to an off menu combo! The ice texture is exactly what you think fresh snow feels like and the flavor are made with REAL fruit!!! So so good we went out of our way during our trip and came by twice! Don't miss when in Kauai! read more

The vibe of this place is incredible. I love the name and the creative atmosphere as it's unlike any other shaved ice spot I've seen. The two girls working there were not only kind but also super funny, which added to the fun experience. We ordered the Handle Bar shaved ice, and there was no line, which was a bonus. That said, the shaved ice itself didn't quite live up to the vibe. The ice melted quickly, possibly due to the heat, but it also wasn't densely packed like other places I've been to. The flavors were a bit underwhelming and didn't quite match the 4.7 stars I saw on Yelp. I tried Wishing Well Shaved Ice and Wailua Shaved Ice and both were better than this. read more

What time do you close today?
Aloha Larry--we are closed all day on Sunday and Monday. These are our procurement and production days. Since all syrups are made from scratch in small batches we need both days to keep up with the demand! Mahalo!
