In the coconut shopping area, there is a little hut with icy desserts. We came over as the shopping area is close to our hotel. It has many gift shops, a grocery and restaurants. The center also has some entertainment, and our main reason for the visit was the hula and fire dance that was put on by a local hula school. Jojo's has many shaved ice options with ice and ice cream and many flavor syrup options. We had the tropical breeze, and it had tropical syrups and ice cream covered by shaved ice. The shave ice is not the fluffy, fine type you can find at other locations that sell shave ice. Their selection of ice cream is very small. Be aware of the surcharge they charge for using a credit card. There is no signage mentioning the surcharge anywhere and the clerk will tell you there is no surcharge. We noticed it on the receipt after we got back to our condo. *UPDATE to Owner's response: We specifically asked the female cashier about the surcharge, as we visit Kauai quite often and know such a surcharge does exist in many establishments there. We DID NOT see the signs and we DID ask the cashier, who told us there was NO surcharge, and there was, as we found out later. Perhaps you should re-train your staff and they could point to the signage for credit card paying customers in the future. Mahalo read more

The folks at Jojo's were really nice! The line moves quick and we got our shave ice decently quick. There's a couple tables, and seating around the plaza. Jojo's shave ice grew on me as I ate through my first cup. Hear me out- shave ice with the macadamia nut ice cream hits way harder than just shave ice alone. We got the tropical breeze to share because it's actually really big scoops. At first it was okay, but I should've gotten a little shave ice in the spoon with the ice cream. As soon as I hit the ice cream on the bottom, it was way better! I highly recommend trying it out and it will hit so hard after a day in the hot sun! It's pretty big though, I'd share. read more

OMGeee, yes please!!! We stayed at a hotel that was walking distance that walking distance to this Jojo's and we're guilty of going here every night after dinner. It's really the best shaved ice we've ever had. We kept going back and forth between Haupia special and Tropical Breeze. We loved both flavors, but the cherry on top was the macadamia ice cream surprise on the bottom! It's so creamy and delicious. They have tables and chair right in front of the shack to enjoy the breezy Hawaiian evening. Service is great, the lady working behind the counter was helpful and nice. I felt bad for her because on some nights, it would get really busy and she would be by herself. People were understanding and waited patiently. The wait was worth it! read more

We went with the Colada Special which comes with macadamia nut ice cream at the bottom and our daughter got Cherry, Watermelon & Strawberry with vanilla ice cream. There are tables outside. The shave ice is a little more smoother than the icy sno-cone types but it is not the soft ice either. The star was the macadamia nut ice cream! It was so good! Creamy and macadamia nuts in each bite. I would go back just for the ice cream but not the shave ice. I personally prefer the soft and creamy kind. read more

This shaved ice stand has quality fruit flavoring and a selection of ice cream options for under the shaved ice. The portions are huge so be careful of how much sugar you want to eat if you order the large. The stand is near a beautiful view of the mountain and is as scenic as a shopping plaza can get. Yikes, I'm surprised by the raving reviews -- this shave ice stand is definitely NOT the best one on the island. I ordered the Colada special with macadamia nut ice cream, and it took them over 20 min for my order when there was only one person in front of me. I waited the last 5 min nearby and heard one of the employees screech, "ewww, there's a dead bee in this syrup! I wonder how long it's been in there". I saw her already pour the syrup in the shave ice and still hand it to the customer after.... She didn't bother to make a new one... Colada special was.. okay. We tried 5 different places that served shave ice. This was our most favorite!!! The gal that worked there was also from Colorado (as are we). We had a nice chat with her, super friendly, very customer oriented and just a pleasure. The owners are very lucky to have her as an employee. Now on to the really good stuff!! The menu was easy to ready, the choices were amazing and the Macnut ice cream was the best ever!!! The ice was so smooth, and the portions were very healthy! We are going to be dreaming of this for a long time, until we can return. They are located in the Coconut market place which has plenty of outdoor seating. My only wish is that they would have offered a long sleeve T-shirt!! I love to collect tshirts or patches from our travels.
