First of all, the staff here are so friendly and willing to help with recommendations for flavors. The shave ice itself is delicious and the flavors are so fresh. I appreciate how they're honest about how there are artificial flavors in the rainbow shave ice, but trust me I'm not eating shave ice for health benefits LOL. Mochi comes with the rainbow shave ice and was the perfect addition. Not all of the flavors come with mochi, but it's definitely worth paying extra for it. I think it's only a few dollars. Lava flow comes with haupia (coconut) foam. Light and airy. I wish we came more than once so I could've tried more flavors. There's also indoor seating and air conditioning!
Hands down best shave we have ever had!!!! Planning to go back again. We are staying 30 minutes away but it's worth the drive. Nothing artificial tasting and huge portions. It is literally one of the best things we have ever had! We got the Ube, root beer float, and the Lava flow. All of them were insanely delicious. If you want authentic shave ice with amazing quality ingredients and fresh fruit, it's worth the drive!!!!!
If I could eat shaved ice every day this is where I would do it. We ordered the Ube, Cookies and Cream and Love Potion#9 and they were ALLL so delicious. If you love ube anything ... you'll love this! It wasn't too sweet and the foam was yummy--I'll definitely be craving it. Light, fluffy, and full of flavor! My daughter loved the fresh strawberries on the Love Potion #9; perfectly blend. My husband who never eats dessert loved the Cookies and Cream. Highly recommend this place!! Super cute spot with very few seats though...would expect more places to sit especially since it's so crowded! Service was great...staff was super helpful. Self-serve kiosks for ordering made for fast ordering as well.
Good shave ice, but Wailua's menu boxes you in to their predefined offerings. I'll start with a confession that we are already a huge fans of Ulalani's (Maui) so that's our guidepost for shave ice. I would have preferred the option to customize my order and get the flavors, add ons I really wanted.
Came here while staying at the Sheraton down the street. Previous nights we got shave ice at the Coconut Marketplace. I thoroughly regret that decision. I will dream of this ube shave ice for the rest of my days. Had I known how amazingly fluffy and delicious the shave ice is here I would have come everyday of our vacation. Nothing I've had compares, and I wonder, sadly, if anything in the future ever will
It was a very hot and humid day and there was a very popular shave ice place close to our hotel so decided to check it out. It is a popular place so the line was pretty long. There were several tables outside and a few more inside. You order at the kiosk or at the register if paying in cash. Staff were very friendly and very busy making the orders. They have a good selection with many different flavors. We ordered the Strawberry Coconut. The wait was not long considering how many people were there. We were surprised how much was included no each order. We were glad we ordered one to split since there was so much. It was very tasty and nice and cold for a hot day. We will try a different flavor next time.
Came around 3 p.m. on a Sunday, and it was pretty empty -- most people were hanging out on the benches outside. Inside is super spacious with chill, surfy decor. Ordering is mostly through a digital kiosk (credit card only), but you can pay cash with the staff. Got the ube shaved ice and a deluxe acai bowl. Both came out fast and were huge. The ube shaved ice was super creamy -- if I didn't know better, I wouldn't even guess it was shaved ice. Totally lives up to the hype. The acai bowl was loaded with toppings, a little sweet from the honey but still really good. Definitely worth a stop. We've been to all the islands for foodie adventures and felt that the acai bowl from here was the best we've ever had.
Hands down the best shave ice I've ever had!!! Out of the "famous" shave ice spots of Oahu (where I'm from), I'd choose Wailua any day. The Lava Flow with haupia foam - AMAZING. Strawberry chunks were a nice touch. I miss it everyday. Da Ube One was also yummy & we loved the ube foam! Fresh mochi & roasted coconut flakes added so much texture & a nice flavor too. I truly hope they consider opening a store on Oahu or in LA where I currently live. I will be the most loyal customer lmfao.
Just AMAZING! Not your typical shave ice flavors but we love this place. 2nd time to Kauai and we made sure to get our fix. Service: 5/5 Workers all smiled and greeted with aloha. The wait for shave ice once you place it does not take long at all. is Ambiance: 4/5 Just your normal shave ice spot. They do have a little section that they sell their merchandise. Food: 5/5 Flavors are on point. When you add the Ube or Hopia foam .. The best part is their shave ice DOES NOT melt fast. I asked the worker why their shave ice doesn't melt fast like others and she just said "I put a lot of love into it" Lol! This is a MUST COME to spot!

I can see why they were voted best Hawaiian ice 5 years in a row! Simply THE BEST. I think what makes their shaved ice stand out are the toppings and the quality of their flavors. These aren't regular dyed syrups anyone can buy from a grocery store. House made, fresh ingredients is what sets this place a part. Service is quick with a kiosk or you can place your order with a worker in the front. Clean and spacious shop that offers free parking and restrooms. The taste will blue you away and I wish this place had another location in California because I'll be dreaming about it until I go back! Mahalo!!! read more
Arrived 5:30pm after a day on the north side of the island. Plenty of parking. The place has a welcoming atmosphere and an open feeling. It was fairly busy with a steady flow of customers. We ordered the Triple Coconut and the Strawberry Mango. We paid at the counter and shortly thereafter my name was called. The shave ice had a wonderful texture. The natural ingredients deliver a healthy and satisfying treat. The Strawberry Mango was fantastic with mango juice, strawberry purée and mango chunks. The Triple Coconut was flavor and texture delight with coconut milk and flakes. We look forward to returning! Highly recommended! read more

The shaved ice was good, just would have preferred to have more custom options like selecting what syrup to add. Additionally, it needed more flavor as when I reached the pure shaved ice part I did not have much syrup to mix in. Overall it was a refreshing treat! read more

Best shave ice on the island - ice is soft and great price for all the toppings they offer. Personal favorite is mango, with a scoop of ice cream, and li hing. Don't forget to add their signature Haupia foam on top!! read more

Went to try this cause of the good reviews and honestly we didn't like this at all. We didn't even it half of it. I mean it's good enough to eat if you really want one but not on the top of the list in the quest to find the best. Presentation is nice! read more

The shaved ice here is so refreshing and tasty! We got a ube flavor (da ube one) shaved ice with mochi added. It wasn't overly sweet but just right. Loved the ube foam on top. Definitely a good spot to checkout in Kauai when you're looking for something refreshing to escape the heat. read more

I have to preface this with the fact that we had some disappointing shave ice earlier in the week at another establishment, where I overpaid for a big bowl of ice and a drizzle of syrup that barely covered the mound's surface. It was our last day in Kauai and I was determined to have a positive shave ice experience. After consulting TikTok, we found all these videos featuring their Ube shave ice and I was sold! This spot was less than 10 minute drive from our resort. How could we have missed it all this time??! It's part of a strip mall, so parking was super easy. This place was clean despite all the sticky syrups that are apt to land on the floor when people are moving about. It was busy, but the line moved fast. You place your order at a kiosk and they call your name at the counter when the order is ready. It was crowded inside, so we took to the benches outside to enjoy our treats. The Ube shave ice was everything! We were pretty full from lunch, so we ordered two to share among my fam of 4. Wailua did not disappoint. They were generous with the ube syrup, no white ice to be seen! It comes with a drizzle of condensed milk, ube whipped cream, and is topped with toasted coconut, which enhances the flavors and gave it a nice texture. We opted for a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which made for a creamy center. I've seen some folks order mochi with it. I might try it that way next time. There will be a next time. This was such a nice way to end our trip to Kauai. We headed straight to the airport afterward feeling very satisfied! read more
One of my favorite things from the trip! The ube one is SO good - I made my family go back a few days later so I could have another one before heading home. In between the two visits, we tried another shave ice place in the area and the ice was not as fine nor smooth as Wailua.. nor were the flavors as delicious. Wailua all the way! With all the amazing reviews we had to try this! I think it really depends on what you order. I'd highly recon the ube with mochi and ice cream. That was a five star order. My son got something that was not very good - I think the artificial shaved ice- I loved my order of strawberry and coconut but I personally would skip the coconut cream that is all over the top- just a preference but I didn't like it at all- it looked fresh a delicious if you do! It's kind of a corporate setting / feeling in there which also isn't my favorite for Kauai - the people were very friendly and nice though! read more
The weather was pretty hot when we left the Smith's Fern Grotto so we came here for some shave ice to cool off. Saw some awesome Ube shave ice photos on Yelp and that's what we ordered. Let me tell you they did not disappoint! The shave ice looks like out of a commercial photo shoot, the coconut flakes on top of the purple ube ice both looks and tastes amazing. We loved the Ube ice so much that we actually came back the next day to try other flavors and we'll be back for sure! read more

So good! I ordered Da Ube One. A bit on the sweeter side, but you can definitely taste the ube. The toasted coconut was crunchy and flavorful--paired perfectly with the cream. I went back to try the cookies and cream but sadly there wasn't as much flavor. I'd definitely get Da Ube One again next time I'm in the area. Welcoming atmosphere and efficient service. They even topped it off with more syrup when I asked. Heads up: there's a 3% credit card charge, so I paid in cash. read more
Wailua Shave Ice lived up to every bit of the hype. The flavors are fresh, the ice is soft and fluffy, and you can tell they care about quality. I got the Lava Flow, and the woman working there recommended adding sweetened condensed milk on top. It took everything to the next level without making it overly sweet. This is definitely not your typical neon syrup kind of shave ice. The fruit purées actually taste like fruit, and the whole thing feels way more satisfying than you'd expect from something that melts in minutes. This was a really good flavor, good quality. Not your typical fake, overly-sweet-in-a-bad-way, cheap syrups that are very common. I'm not a fan of the Haupia foam because I don't like whip cream, but I still enjoyed the rest of it, and I'd definitely come back to try a different flavor next time I visit. I like that there was sitting inside and it was nice and clean. The ladies working were also very nice and very kind. They gave some shaved ice to my dog too (no syrup of course) but she still enjoyed it! I really appreciate the amazing service. All in all, a great experience. read more
One of the best shave ice we had while on the island. We thought it was just gonna be a normal sized but it was bigger for sure. My husband enjoyed his ube shave ice and I was happy the girl at the counter told me 1000% should get the love potion and I'm glad I did. It was delicious. If you are here please go to the place. It's kinda hidden in Safeway parking lot but I wish we came back to try more. Don't forget to add the ice cream in there too. read more
I came in with high expectations based on the yelp rating. I ordered the pina colorada. At best, it was OK. Almost no flavor. Not that I want things super sweet. But yikes. It's possible other drinks are much better, and I somehow selected the less desirable option. Since I'm staying very close, I might come back and try the mango thing. But 4.7 rating means everything on the menu should be very good. read more

This shave ice was calling out to us after we arrived on the island and got some other shopping finished. It's conveniently located right next to the ABC Store. We were greeted upon entering and helped promptly. They were more than happy to explain their menu to us and answer our questions. My kids both got the strawberry mango. I couldn't decide between the lava flow and da ube one, but they told me to go for da ube one if I love ube (and I do)! Naturally flavored, no need to worry about stained teeth here. The shave ice was perfect and hit the spot. They were also really beautiful--works of art! Good amount of seating available inside, but we got cold and it got really crowded shortly after we arrived, so we moved to a bench outside. Merchandise is also available for purchase and a clean restroom is available for customers only. We really enjoyed our visit here! read more
Stopped here for a shave ice after our hike. The wait wasn't too long. They already have preset menus so no custom flavors/combos. Lilikoi cream was so good. It's not on the tablet menu so you have to order with a person since they only sell a limited amount. The size is pretty big for one person. My husband liked the ube one it came with ube coconut foam on top. Would definitely come back if I'm ever in the neighborhood! read more

Soooo good! This was by far the best shave ice we had during our week in Kauai. Ice was soft, flavor combos were on point, and the foam tops were soo fluffy and delicious. We came twice because it was so good and I wish we had the time and stomach to come back a third time! If you're an ube fan, definitely come and get Da Ube One. There was so much ube and coconut flavor. The ube foam was so creamy and the roasted coconut flakes gave a nice crunch. The store itself has some seating inside and there's also outdoor seating. Workers were friendly and shave ice orders come out fast! read more

Absolutely delicious! Wailua Shave Ice is next-level good -- light, refreshing, and packed with flavor. The house-made milks are creamy perfection, and the fresh fruits taste like they were picked that morning. You can taste the quality and care in every bite. A must-stop treat spot in Kaua'i! This place is stupid good. We liked everything, but the real passion fruit and the ube option were stellar, among the best frozen treats I've ever had in my life. Don't miss it! I wish I'd skipped lunch so I had room to finish the masterpiece. The pina colada was a little on the tart side for me; the others are more balanced, so just go with your preference.
