This ice cream spot isn't bad. They have a variety of flavors. My husband chose the Nene tracks which has a mix of caramel and chocolate things, it is good if you can't decide what you want. The ice cream flavor I was most interested in, the Kona chocolate chip, was already out for the day. I was able to sample it, but they didn't have enough for a full school. This was around two or three p.m. so it's a bummer they ran out so early. I got the ice cream in a waffle bowl but the waffle bowl was just okay. I could skip it next time. While the prices are definitely on the higher side compared to the mainland, you can always get a Keke scoop which is less ice cream in a bowl. They had a pretty wide array of flavors, of which I opted for the Heavenly Hana, which had everything I was looking for: Dark chocolate ice cream, marshmallow swirls, chocolate roasted almonds, white chocolate mac nuts, and sea salt. I felt a bit bad since normally I get things so I can share them with my girlfriend, but I could not pass this up. I thoroughly enjoyed my ice cream. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for her. She opted for Aunt Lilikoi's Passion Fruit and Ube Haupia. She wasn't a big fan of what she got, and after tasting it, I could see why, both flavors were definitely on the sweeter side. The Ube Haupia lacked ube flavor (had more than enough sweetness to it, though). First time at Lappert's as my dad said this was a must try. I tend to go more for sorbets over ice cream based on my dietary restrictions, so I got the Ube Haupia and Auntie Lilikoi's Passion Fruit. The colors were beautiful! Unfortunately, they were both on the sweeter side. While the lilikoi was packed with flavor, the ube was an extremely subtle flavor. I don't think I would be able to guess what it's supposed to be had I not known. However, my guy got the Heavenly Hana and he loved it! I didn't try it because of the marshmallow, but his reaction definitely made me feel like I just got the wrong flavors. I really wish we had been able to try them beforehand. read more

It tasted like I opened a Coffee Mate creamer cup and took a shot of it. We didn't want to make them remake it, so we asked for some black iced coffee so we could dilute the sweetness. They charged us $8 for a black iced coffee. Massive waste of money. read more

Ice creams are on the sweeter side. Appreciate that they have a "Can't decide" option that provides 5 1/2 scoop flavors in a waffle bowl for $12. Unfortunately, they didn't have the waffle bowl available so we opted for a double scoop. They allow 2 samples per customer. We went with the ube haupia and ooeygooey pineapple cake. I wished the flavors were stronger for both as both they tasted more like sweet cream. Overall, I like how they offer Hawaiian flavors, but flavors are more subtle. read more

I just walked in at 7:30pm, the door was unlocked, the lights were on, two people were behind the glass. I said "hi ! You're still open! We'd love some ice cream" The woman behind the counter said "sorry we closed, we're understaffed, we only had three employees today" There were ZERO customers in the shop, zero, I was the only one with my family of 4 total. I said "Huh? You're right here, there's no one in here, you can't scoop me three cups right now?" She said "no sorry" So beware, this place closes before their listed hours, and apparently are understaffed with three employees and zero customers, awful. Took about 30 mins for us to get into the store where we were finally able to see the flavors and size options. However the second time we went the worker, who said her name was Jenna, helping us packed the wrong bakery item and when we politely let her know of the error she made she immediately changed her tone and attitude towards us and threw the cookies she had packed and angrily packed the right cookies. By now we had already paid and gave her a tip for her services and it made the whole experience uncomfortable for our whole family. When we asked about management she said they are "overseas," not sure how accurate that information is but this alone made me not want to return to the shop ever again. read more
