Breakfast at the spot that we were staying was super pricey, so took the opportunity to head out and saw the glowing reviews for Anuenue Cafe, and glad that we stopped by. It's sort of in the middle of an outdoor shopping plaza, and was pretty popular for brunch with a significant line waiting to order. I ended up getting the Riptide Benedict and cold brew, and it was amazing. Delicious kalua pork on the muffin with a perfectly cooked drizzly egg, accompanied with overnight oats. I really enjoyed it. I will say though it was a little bit tough eating with a little one on the benches. I didn't see any high chairs, and of course there were a bunch of chickens around the outdoor eating space. With a little one, just be ready for what you're in for with no indoor seating, but come for the food! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this little cafe - I LOVED their banana pancakes, and I'm a pancake snob. I also loved their overnight oats. There are 2 picnic tables next to the shop, as well as a little step seating area nearby. Food was delicious! We had the Haupia French toast and the pancake meal. Husband love the pineapple juice and I had the Lilikoi iced tea, both drinks were super refreshing. We sat out in the amphitheater area as the three tables outside were already full and it was a great way to start our day on this side of the island. I loved this little cafe, it's a great spot for a quick breakfast. It's located in a shopping plaza, so there are a few other stores around as well. The cafe is mostly takeout, but we ordered and sat at one of the two small tables outside. The owner was super friendly and ran the place himself, which made the experience even better. Here's what I tried: Surfer Bowl - I'd highly recommend this if you like rice with your breakfast. It was very flavorful, and everything worked well together. Definitely my favorite. You order at the counter and wait/eat at the communal table right outside the shop. The food came out quick! The polish sausage they use here is really good. The macademia nut pancakes are the best we've tried but a little on the small side. Next time we will order an additional stack. The french toast came with a piece of coconut Jello that complimented it really well. Comforting and delicious food with quick service. Found this breakfast spot new where we were staying and since there are very few around to choose from we decided to try it. The menu was very limited but the fact they put jalapeño and pineapple in the fried rice was off putting and screamed "haole". The food was fine but the guy who runs the counter is about as obnoxious as you can get. His demeanor is annoying and then when he started begging for tips, we wished there was another option nearby because we wanted nothing to do with the place. read more

My husband and I had a yummy breakfast here. They are in a shopping center. They don't have tables inside but there are some outside. The guy working was awesome and very prompt and helpful. My husband got the Riptide eggs Benedict and thought it was incredible!!! They didn't mention that this came with overnight oats which normally wouldn't matter but it had some stuff that we can't have due to allergies. The avocado toast was delicious but very messy. Nice little breakfast joint in walking distance to the beach. There is free parking in the complex and a bunch of shops to walk around as well. The food was solid. Went here twice for breakfast and it was consistently delicious! The food is flavorful, seasoned perfectly and the eggs are incredibly fluffy. Even our picky toddler ate an entire portion of scrambled eggs! We loved the surfer's bowl, the tube ride, the mea kanu and the rip ride :) don't skip out on their cold brew either because it was one of the best we've had on the island. Tucked away little breakfast spot in the Poipu area. It's located in the Kiahuna Plantation center so gotta go looking for it. One of the few breakfast places in the area that's not on a resort or a Starbucks. Was pretty busy in the morning but food comes out pretty quickly after you place your order. We got the avocado toast sandwich which was $17 a pop. It was essentially a BLT with guac and pesto which definitely put a different spin on this sandwich. The bread was toasted well and doesn't cut the top of your mouth (thank goodness). Overall, great food. read more

While they don't have inside seating, we readily found outside seating. Even though their menu is limited, see my menu pics, they execute well. Under the sandwiches heading, is their Avocado Toast, see my pic. This more than "toast", there is ample avocado and the bacon was great! It was warm, rich, creamy and bacon savory! My pic doesn't do justice to the Shark Omelet - it should be sold by the pound. There were a ton of meats, and it seemed more than 3 eggs. This was savory and rich, truly filling. This is my go-to breakfast spot in Kauai. We come every year, and during our one-week stay, we make sure to eat here at least three times. John, the owner and chef, always makes you feel like a local from the moment you walk in. My must-order dish is the Kalua Pork Fried Rice -- served with jalapeños, pineapple, and eggs. This was the best food we had during our week in Kauai! Do not miss the pork fried rice and the French toast. Both were absolutely amazing. The French toast must have been 2+ inches thick and slightly crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Service was fast and friendly both times we visited. The cold brewed iced coffee is great, too. Note that there are actually two park benches to sit at, one next to the cafe, and one hidden around the corner next to adjacent sandwich shop which opens later in the day. You do have to share them with the resident roosters and chickens and their chicks, as well as the other customers. Get here early before a line forms, although it does move quickly. Needed to get away from the big resort hotel and yelp steered me here! A very short line when we arrived that moved quickly and I loved the kalua pork fried rice with over easy eggs cooked perfectly. My only struggle was the lack of seating. There was one adjacent picnic table but it was full, so we sat on a bench area around the corner.
