Had a very confusing experience here ordering through the Yelp app. I ordered as we were driving to the restaurant, but the order status stayed at "pending confirmation from the restaurant" and never updated to "pick up ready". I had no idea what to expect when I arrived to pick up my order, but luckily my order was ready. It sounds like at least for Yelp, they get incoming orders but don't have the ability to send updates back. I wouldn't recommend ordering via the Yelp app as you don't get order updates and prices are more inflated than ordering directly from the restaurant. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the wait didn't seem that bad and we were starving, so we asked if we could get a table and eat our takeout order there. After waiting ~10 minutes, we got a table and I finally opened the food. I'm really glad I decided to eat here, because they actually packed the wrong dish for me. I ordered the stuffed shrimp plate, but they misread that as the stuffed shrimp benedict. I told them about their mistake and they quickly remade my dish. I didn't realize they drizzle hollandaise sauce over the shrimp plate and would've asked them to remove it had I known, since I'm not a fan of the stuff. But after scraping off most of the sauce, I found myself really enjoying the stuffed shrimp. I'm not sure what goes into the stuffing, but there was definitely a lot of mushroom and other tasty thing. The stuffed shrimp paired with some rice really hit the spot after biking in the morning. Portion for this was on the smaller side though. My friend got the broasted chicken breakfast and thought it was just okay. We both felt it was dry. Since we were dining in, my friend ordered a coffee and we shared a mini order of their popular macadamia nut pancakes ($8.75) to try as well. Very happy they offer various sizes of their pancakes for folks like me who just want to try a few bites. I usually prefer savory dishes at brunch but the coconut sauce on top was bomb! Would recommend.

Daddy O's in Lihue is a simple but classic restaurant serving up Hawaiian/Asia pacific style faire. I went for breakfast with my family. I ordered the local breakfast with bacon. I thought it was really great for what it was. It's affordable and filling and it's a fair price. The service was great. We even got to speak to the owner Daddy O and we learned he was in business at this location for about 10 years and he was a former commander of a gunship at 20 in Vietnam the Vietnam War. WOW. When he is not serving up yummy food in his restaurant he is giving aerial tours and teaching flight lessons for planes and helicopters. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the street, but it is definitely a place you will want to go during your time in Kauai.

Go here!! You will not regret it. The food was epic. The loco mock had the classic taste and was cooked to perfection. Wow! The Mac salad was the best I've ever had, I highly recommend it. The service was excellent. The older gentleman asked about us personally and made us feel so welcome. He offered us local specials too. It's a local diner and it lives up to the billing. The physical space is spread out well and perfect for what you are looking for on Kauai.

Tried Daddy O's for breakfast with my family and was pleasantly surprised. We got seated right away and our food came out fast. Our server was super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Ono Omelet which was really tasty. I had anticipated that it would be pretty oily because of the spam and Portuguese sausage inside, but it wasn't oily at all. The spot is tucked away in the back of a plaza, so it's easy to miss, but definitely worth finding.

Love this place! Friendly staff, especially Daddy O. He greets everyone , explains the menu and jests with the patrons. The food is outstanding. Our guys had eggs with bacon and hash browns. We gals opted for stuffed French toast and coconut macadamia pancakes. Excellent! Excellent!

Just the perfect mom and pop restaurant we needed during our stay in Kauai! We came here twice and really enjoyed the food. Breakfast and lunch served all day. We met the owner Henry and he was super welcoming. Remembered us on our second visit. We didn't know what to order so he started us off with Chinese sui mai and steamed pork bun. Good app to start off with! Speciality of the day was the prime rib sandwich, we went with his recommendation and it did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed the sandwich. What really made us come back the second time was the macadamia pancakes. I don't really order pancakes but I wanted to try something more local especially with macadamia. I'll have to say this is the best pancakes I've ever been served. Super fluffy, warm, and the best part was the coconut cream. That literally sold it for me. Henry was right when he told us we'd come back after our first visit. We also tried the breakfast burrito also. Just the right size and everything you can ask for inside a Hawaiian breakfast burrito. Great spot, will recommend anyone to come try!

On our way down from Princeville back to the Lihue airport we had three action items. #1 on the list was to have breakfast. I did a Yelp and this caught my eye. Daddy O. So retro sounding. Read the mostly positive reviews. We entered around 8:20am. Got a table with no wait time. Each table is numbered. We were handed a two sided laminated menu. Ordered - * hubby got the big Daddy O breakfast platter - three eggs, three meats, hash browns and two scoops of rice * daughter got the loco moco - two eggs with two hamburger patties two scoops of rice over gravy. * I got the french toast sweet bread with two eggs and Portuguese sausage. Constant coffee refills offered. Constant flow of customers. Located in an unassuming strip mall where the anchor is the bowling alley. Our server turned out to be the owner Harry. We warmed up to him 1/2 way through our breakfast. Then he asked if we liked cha siu baos. And siu mai. Next door is the wiki wiki store where you can grab a quick lunch. Action items #2 was taken care of - we got cha siu baos and siu mais to go. Snacks for our flight home later. I'd return if I'm ever back to Kauai.

Daddy-Os was great! Friendly service, quick meal, reasonable prices for the area, and food was tasty. I got the breakfast with pancakes and asked for ube for them. Nothing mind blowing but solid and tasty. My husband got the chicken and waffles and the mini loco moco and enjoyed it!

Off gate, the service was grade A. I was welcomed and seated promptly. My waiter was friendly and helpful. Even threw in a suggestion. The coffee was great and my cup was consistently being refilled. I ordered the Kanaka. I was a wonderful dish. My only grip was that my bacon was hummm either over cooked or old. Minus that, everything was good.

We came on a Saturday morning for breakfast. We were seated right away and service was fast. The food was delicious. I got a mini Ono loco moco and my husband got the kanaka breakfast. Can't go wrong with eggs and breakfast meats. There was a lot of parking. We'll be back one day to try the lunch options.

We are tourist from San Diego and need to know whose outstanding recipe was the breakfast burrito?

Lol. We actually came up with the breakfast burrito when we were doing fish tacos! Just recently we created an anchor chili sauce to go with it to give it just a little bit of a kick. So glad you enjoyed it.

Do they serve loco moco during breakfast hour?

We sure do! Our entire menu is available all day long.

We went on a Saturday around lunchtime and it wasn't too busy. There is a small parking lot near the restaurant on the left hand side. It was filled when we first got there, but we were luckily able to get a spot. I could see this lot filling up quickly during other meal rush hours, so do take note if you plan on driving. The ordering is done like your typical poke place, you tell the service worker what you would like and there's a small toppings bar at the end before the cashier. There was a small line when we went, and even with the line, it still only took about 5-10 minutes to get our food. There isn't interior seating in the restaurant though, you will have to get your food take out, or just eat in the parking lot. I got the 3 scoops of poke option for $15.25, and I think that this is a pretty solid deal for the variety of fish that you can try out! I think based on my personal experience on Kaua'i, it will be difficult to get food, especially poke at a reasonable price. But for this price, it's probably the best place on the island to get poke without paying $20+ for the same variety. The fish tasted fresh, and I am a fan of the selection of toppings they had. If you are in the Lihue area and looking to try some poke at a reasonable price, I would recommend The Fish Express! There seems to be a decent amount of other interesting looking options on the menu, and if I'm ever in the area again, I would totally give them a try!

For starters, we had the short rib potsticker (5 to an order with a peanutty curry sauce on top), and focaccia, which came with balsamic and olive oil, plus roasted garlic cloves. The chewy texture was great, it almost seemed air fried. Entrees: 2 kid's shells with cheese (mac'n cheese) generous portions, and no grief over 15 to ordering off children's menu. I grew up in Hawaii and just wanted to experience the classics. Kauai Diner fulfilled this wish. Initially, I planned for Kauai Diner as our first stop for lunch when we landed as it is less than 10-minutes from the airport. However, my sisters weren't hungry for lunch at the time. On our last day, we decided to stay near the airport area and that's when we were able to have brunch here. From the outside, it doesn't look like much and in fact looks small. However, upon entering, this is a really big restaurant with several large booths. This is definitely a family oriented restaurant. The booth we were sat at could comfortably seat 8-people. The menu is a mix of Chinese, Filipino and Hawaii-style mixed plates. So much to choose from. Sister 1 got her usual lau lau and quietly finished her meal first. Sister 2 got steamed ginger fish that she enjoyed. And she was warned it would take 20-mins which she was fine with. Last sister and I shared a burger that was good but not as good as Kenji's, ramen that warmed our belly's, chives pancake that was just ok. And what helped us find Kauai Diner was the ube pancake. Not sure why and had experienced at other places, ube pancake was ok but the ube syrup was really good and 4-sister approved. The staff here are helpful and really nice. Prices fair and restaurant had a lot of natural lighting, plenty of large windows. If I lived here, this would be one of my favs. 5-stars for this experience.
