This is a nice local gem, located on a golf course (which I didn't realize) with amazing Mountain Views and occasional Nenes with the chickens. There is a large parking lot leading to two buildings, the right is the restrooms and proshop and the left is the restaurant with covered outdoor seating in the back. The order counter has a nice video menu display where you can review selections. There were many locals coming in for the food, not necessarily golfing. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our food was fresh and tasted great. I had the early breakfast which is an egg anyway, a meat (corned beef hash) and a bread (English muffin). My wife had the everything bagel Lox with salmon. Both plates were brought to the table with utensils by staff. Presentation was nice with orange garnish. We were checked on regularly with our coffee. Corned beef was mostly potato, but still tasty. Quiet today, with average conversation noise. Clean, restrooms needed a little assistance. If you want a nice off the beaten path location, that is quiet in the early morning and a reasonably priced, then this is a nice local stop. read more

Great views outside on the patio as well as inside out the windows too! Eats: Mochi pancakes 5/5 fluffy and so tasty with coconut or maple syrup! Keahi was very kind and helpful; I could tell she is the leader of this place since she was extremely diligent. A nice quaint cafe. Not much scenery but very clean and roomy. We ordered their famous stuffed French toast with banana which did not disappoint. The coconut syrup really made this a 10/10. This an update review.We Came for brunch with some friends.We placed our orders and we requested to sit outside on there lanai.It was a breezy day but it was okay.Soon after our drinks came then our meals.For some reason one of our friends meal came really late n it was a mini Locomoco plate.I ordered the regular Locomoco n it came in a timely manner.So eventually her Meal arrived.Of course the food was is always good!..Unfortunately today the service wasn't as good.After delivering our meals no one came and asked if everything was okay and no one came to fill water.I drank some my girlfriend's water good thing she had a large soda.The only service after is when the person came out to give us our take out orders.I guess maybe they were short staffed?.Or it was BZ inside?. read more

My hubby and I had 2 outstanding meals while visiting Kauai and Puakea Grill was one of them! They are located on a golf course near the Costco in Lihue. Lots of parking right in front of the restaurant and they have AC! We were greeted with a smile by Keahi who was so helpful with recommendations. She knew we were locals but not from Kauai, the obvious question, "What island you from?" After talking a bit my husband and Keahi grew up in the same neighborhood... small State. Back to the food... we ordered Teriyaki Steak with Kim Chee fried rice and Spaghetti Potato Mac Salad, the Teriyaki Steak was so good, the teriyaki sauce was special, that old school taste! I ordered the Roast Pork plate which was very tasty and cut up into bite sized pieces so it was easy to eat. We had to try the fried noodles as that is what they are known for, we ordered the mini portion and it was delicious! It had the works in it! Kamaboko, green onions, spam, lup cheong...so good! We also ordered Fluffy Mochi Pancakes...crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Everything was fresh, hot and made to order. I also ordered a Lychee Lemonade which was delicious! We also bought a bento of UFO's=Goteborg Sauasage, Rice and Furikake to take back to our hotel for snacking later. One of the other workers made sure our waters were filled and cleared dishes that were done and made sure we were ok. They have so many other items on the menu I would like to try! Bonus points for the relaxed golf course setting and the surprise rooster visitor that made the whole experience feel very "Kauai." My mom placed an online order. They called us back and said they didn't have what we ordered. Didn't want to give us a refund, and tried to give us a gift card instead. Since they refused to give us a refund, we just agreed to substitute items to replace our original order.But the question is what if we didn't live on island? What if we never wanted to go back there to eat? And we still had to wait an extra 30-40 minutes for our food even though we placed it online at 5pm. read more

Our reunion committee chose Puakea Grill for our banquet and it was a wonderful choice. The food was delicious and the entire staff was just so friendly and accommodating. The buffet consisted of Hawaiian style fried chicken, teriyaki steak, tuna nachos, green salad, maki sushi, baked salmon, Okinawa dango, chow mein, and steamed rice. Everything was great, especially for a buffet. The price was extremely reasonable and you could go back for seconds (some even went back for thirds). It's on the grounds of a golf cart so parking was plentiful. If you need someplace to have a reunion or gathering on the most beautiful island in Hawaii, this would be a great choice. I just ask that you respect the culture of the islands and the people will be some of the kindest and welcoming people you've ever met. Unfortunately, many tourists act STUPID and exhibit disrespectful behavior. It's amazing how some people from the mainland act as if they lack common sense or I wouldn't mention this. So you just filled your shopping cart at Costco, you're hungry but not for a Costco $1.50 hot dog. You want a decent Hawaiian lunch plate. But you never consider eating at a golf course grill. Well, reconsider. Less than a mile from Costco this clean cafe has surprisingly satisfying food (Unlike too many other golf course grills with their dried out hamburgers and wilted salads). Bambie and I arrived on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. There were just 4 other customers in the place. We ordered fried fish n' chips and a grilled salmon filet with rice and some steamed vegetables. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal while sitting on the back patio lanai. Peaceful setting. We even got a a little bird show as the cardinals and sparrows decided to join us with the hope of grabbing a few dropped crumbs of food. Nice, friendly employees greet and serve. Prices are friendly, too. We try to visit Kauai twice per year. When we return I plan to visit this cafe again. Aloha! read more

Puakea Grill is a great place for breakfast or lunch. Just be aware that if you dine in, the wait for your food can be over 45 mins at certain times due to priorities. The food prepared is very good. Non-golfers will frequently visit Puakea for a great meal. I recommend the Kauai Sweet bread breakfast sandwich. The sandwich comes with your choice of meat, egg, and avocado. The sauce is good too. We've had several meal selections from our numerous visits here. I recommend giving Puakea a visit if you're not in a rush. read more

I stumbled upon this gem and left wondering if I should just cancel my flight home lol Let's talk food: The veggie breakfast burrito? Life-changing. I'm not saying it cured my jet lag, but I am saying I saw a rainbow after the first bite. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly wrapped--like a warm Hawaiian hug with a side of sunshine. The loco moco? Honestly, I'd island hop just to eat it again. The gravy alone deserves a Michelin star and possibly its own Instagram account. The vibe? Immaculate. Visit fam and friends and do the halfsie marathon. Since got fam, we rarely eat out there. But day we left we decided to try there for lunch. Table noodles to share. That was my fave. Crisped bacon or something added a little twist. Choke stuff, but still could taste the noods. Overall very good...I'd go back just for the noods. I got the Mahi Fish and Chips. Tasty and cooked perf, but super oily. Not a fan of the oily-ness. Hubs got the PBS. He pounded that. Baby helped. Friend got the roast pork loco. Loco Moco - It has the standard brown gravy you find everywhere but with custom meat patties. It was good but I would have skipped the gravy. Although it wouldn't be called a loco moco if there was no gravy! Omelette - My mother had the veggie omelette and she was happy with it. The blood orange it came with was a nice touch. It did take a long time for the food to arrive (45 minutes) but they warned us about this before we ordered as a lot of online orders. I seen a lot of local people picking up orders so it's probably a good thing! Inside it was very clean and the tables and area had nice lighting. To start with, we went within an hour of closing, so we were worried that the food wouldn't be fresh or the service wouldn't be friendly. Not the case at all! Food arrived promptly and was delicious. Nice little brunch spot on the Puakea Golf Course! There is ample free parking and if you dine in, you can order your food up at the counter and grab a table afterwards. The food isn't anything super special but it's good for what it is which is local comfort food. I had been here once prior to this visit and they definitely cut down on portion size (probably due to inflation). I do definitely like that they have a wide variety of items to choose from on their menu. My family and I had dined in and for what we had ordered and for the amount of customers they had during that time, it took very long for our food to come out (25-35min). Just something to keep in mind: if you want to dine in but are on a time crunch, I'd recommend ordering ahead online to cut down on wait time. The service was okay too, not bad. Yay! We have arrived! First day in Kauai and time for lunch after a 5 hour morning g flight. Husband says time to try the grill at the golf course. Ordered the grilled mahi mahi with sticky rice and green salad. It was so fresh and delicious! Husband had mahi mahi fish and chips! Outstanding!
