French toast, eggs, rice, Portuguese sausage
    Angelina I.

This is a great breakfast/lunch spot tucked away in an industrial area with a small parking lot in front. We took the food to go, but there are some stools if you want to sit and eat there. The French toast was AMAZING and dripping in butter while being perfectly sweet. Eggs, sausage and rice were well made. Service and prices were good. They are cash only.

The lady at the counter is such a sweetheart! Went for breakfast and saw cheeseburgers. Wanted to order that but she kindly said they don't serve that until lunchtime. So next was a loco moco. They also have Red Bull. I love hole in the wall eateries. The food is always the best and always local. I will be coming back,

The food is great, the service is quick and excellent. It's in an industrial area so plan to eat in your car or outside the garage.

The roast beef!!!! So tender and delicious! What a great find for coming right out of the airport.

The cashier was super friendly and helpful. Parking is a couple spots in front and of course - street parking. It's a quick grab and go spot which I appreciated coming right out of the airport and going to the hotel. I instantly fell in love with the roast beef plate. It was so tender and juicy. If it was a cold/rainy day it would've been perfection. The Mac salad was great! Husband ordered the curry stew and liked it (4/5 stars).

Located in Lihue, just 3-5 minutes drive to the airport. Check hours, as I believe it's not open on weekends or Mondays. Amazing loco moco! We ordered the corned beef hash moco full size and shared between 2 persons and it was enough. They have some crack in the secret sauce gravy! There is soooo much gravy drenched on top and it has a lot of beef flavor and additional ingredients that make it stand out. The corned beef is the canned type, as I like and it is perfectly cooked. The rice is so perfect, warm and fluffy short grain. It was recommended by the Kauai backcountry adventure tubing guides and you can't go wrong! There is no seating here, just grab and take out.

Great for a pick up breakfast. Local stop and great quality. Good portion sizes too! Parking out front or around the area as this is an industrial zone. Really kind staff and lots of good choices. Can never go wrong with a loco moco. No tables or chairs as this is take out. Can call to order first. Don't forget cash only. Highly recommend!

Damn, that was good. A run-down exterior hiding a total gem inside. The food is bomb -- think deliciously greasy, not health-focused. Quick service and exactly what you want when you're craving something indulgent.

***cash only****Recently had a business trip to Kauai. I called in my order at 6am and conveniently picked up 6 plates at 8am. Good thing I called ahead they were sold out of corned beef by 8a! I'm a sucker for home made corned beef and it was delicious! Portions were generous and I love that it's a small local business tucked away in an industrial area. Just remember to bring CASH! Take out only. My local co workers said the Luau Stew is amazing here I'll try that next time;)

Really delicious food. The gravy was tasty. You just drive up and walk to an open garage. This is in the same area as a lot of auto repair shops. No outdoor seating. They were really friendly.

A hidden gem in an industrial area in Lihue. Uma's plate is the best thing on the menu! It's 2 beef patties on fried rice with an egg topped with grilled mushrooms & onion, cheese and brown gravy. Can you say kanak attack!? Service is fast and friendly. Parking can get a little tricky during busy times but you'll manage. I do not recall seeing any places to eat on site. Best to call in your order before you arrive. CASH ONLY.

    Teriyaki chicken plate $14

I was looking for a quick meal and this was close by. It was a bit early to get a heavy meal so opted for their daily special, chicken teriyaki plate $14. It's located in an industrial location and parking was limited. It's a walk up window to order and they only accept cash. Very pleasant and easy to order. Food was ready within 3 minutes. The rice is amazing and the macaroni was good. The chicken was a dud in my opinion. It was hard on one side and hard to chew. The teriyaki was made very salty. Maybe they had an off day.

Quick breakfast for people who work in the industrial area or for people just getting off the plane. I always default to ordering their Breakfast Sandwich or Spinach Mushroom Omelet. There are no tables but there are some stools available. Parking is limited. Friendly service. Oh, & cash only!

The food is hit or miss. What they do well is great... what they don't is disappointing. Either way the price is right!!! Open work days and for breakfast until 945. After that only lunch. Recommend the Teri burger and omelette. Skip the fried rice and the stew. Service is fast, cash only and totally take out... go to a near by park and enjoy. The ladies pack what you need ( napkins, fork, etc in a little box and are especially sweet.

I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate and my hubby got the garlic shrimp plate. Everything had really good flavor, the rice was perfect, and the macaroni salad had just the right amount of mayo. The teriyaki sauce was really yummy. I prefer my chicken without the skin so I removed it but it was cooked very well and it came off easily. My hubby enjoyed his plate too. The portions are a good size too - you could probably share one plate if you're not that hungry. I saved half of mine for later and ended up eating it cold cause we didn't have a microwave, but it was still so delicious! We even got some fun chex mix snax to eat while we waited. They were so good! This is definitely a place to check out! You will not be disappointed! We even came back another time when we wanted a bite to eat before heading to the beach! So good!

We had a view of the ocean. It was pretty high waves after a nearby tropical storm so that was fun to watch. The photo ops are incredible here. They have wonderful seating overlooking the water. Would be great to come here just for drinks. We started with an ahi sashimi appetizer. We pretty much get ahi sashimi at every restaurant in Hawaii. It was good. The hawaiian painkiller drink was nice. Not too strong. For entrees, I picked Kampachi which came with bok choy. Although the portion looked small, it was a good size. Very flavorful. I had a hard time picking between 3 fish entrees. This one worked out well. My wife had a shrimp farfalle pasta. She enjoyed it. When we went to order dessert, they brought us out a lava cake like dessert with happy anniversary written in chocolate on the plate. Complimentary and such a nice touch! It seems like they do pay attention on the reservation. The place was semi-busy but not packed. Bar looked huge. Great service as well.

Extremely disappointing experience at Hualani. We planned this dinner as a special family…read moreexperience and arrived a few minutes before our reservation. While waiting for our table, we stood right outside taking 4-5 quick family photos--something I think most people do while on vacation. Unfortunately, while we were literally just a few feet away, the hostess gave away the ocean-view table that had been intended for us without ever coming over to get us or communicating with us. That lack of communication completely changed the experience. We were then seated at a table with an awful view--essentially looking at bushes. At an ocean-view resort, that is not what you expect, especially when you specifically planned a family dinner there. We spoke with the hostess stand, but there was no meaningful effort to accommodate us. After we were already upset, the manager eventually came over and offered another table--but only if we waited another 45 minutes. We were also offered a high-top table, which simply isn't practical when you're dining with four young children. The entertainment made the poor seating even more obvious. When the luau dancers came through, our family literally had to get up from our table to see the performance. That is how obstructed our view was. I want to be clear that our server was wonderful and completely at no fault. She provided great service and did everything she could. The issue was the hostess stand, the lack of communication, and the complete lack of ownership or accommodation after the mistake happened. People don't come to a beautiful ocean-view resort to spend their special family dinner staring at bushes. What makes this especially frustrating is that our original ocean-view table was right there, and we were never given the courtesy of being told, "Your table is ready." We were taking a few family photos--not disappearing for an hour. For a restaurant at this level, I expected much better judgment, communication, and customer service recovery. Unfortunately, the experience left a very bad impression, and I would not return to Hualani or recommend it for a special occasion.
