Wow this was such a great burger place! Came in on a thursday around 5pm and it was a little quiet. The bartender girl was sweet and working hard :). As for the burgers... amazing!! We came here when they were in the food cart across the street from the resort. We loved them then, we love them now! So good! They are now in the Nawiliwili Lounge. Which is nice as you can eat inside. The Kauai burger was outstanding! This burger has Kalua pig, grilled pineapple, grilled onions, cheddar cheese and Hawaiian BBQ sauce. Omg- just amazing! The Smittyaki burger is a mushroom Swiss cheese burger. I had a couple bites of it and it was flat out amazing too. Great onion rings and fries too! My wife and I were talking about this place. Just landed on Kauai and was looking for a good lunch place close to our hotel. Smitty's smash burgers sounded really good. We were driving and looking for parking in the area. All the pictures on Yelp show a red and white food truck. I didn't see it but there was a sign on the front of the nawiliwili bar and lounge with cones in the front. I went inside to inquire if the food truck wasn't there for the day. And the bartender told me that they actually were working out of the kitchen at the bar. My husband ordered us a Smashburger to share with fries. I really like the fries because they're nice and hot and almost like a wedge swirl. The burger we got with two patties and a fried egg on top felt a little bit oily to me. I wish there was more lettuce, tomatoes, pickles - fresh items on it. But my husband absolutely enjoyed it. The ranch was very delicious. It had great flavor. Just a bit watered down. Overall we were happy with the location and the food. The service was quick and we actually ended up taking it to go to either another spot in the area. But if you wanted to, you could eat at the bar they just asked that everyone (especially the kids) be fully dressed and not in bathing suits. read more

Aloha, we were amazed at Smitty's Smash Burger!!! First off, they have moved from their food truck to Nawiliwili Tavern on Paena Lp. The Tavern setting is quite unique with a large dining area with a feeling of the old days gone by. The staff (Alex "Host/Bartender" and Brian (Chef/Smoke Roaster" were very friendly and made us feel welcomed and knew their history of both the food truck and tavern. The food was absolutely delicious, we had smash burgers like none other!!! My Kaua'i Smash Burger was the perfect Hawaiian blend of Kalua pig, grilled pineapple, bacon, cheese, Kaua'i beef blend and Hawaiian style BBQ sauce. It was a jaw breaker with a recommended extra patty added along with outstanding waffle fries. My wife went with the Smittyaki Smash Burger which also had an amazing blend of teriyaki sauce, onions, mushrooms, cheese and a Kaua'i beef blend patty and onion rings!
