Seafood Combo (Fish of the Day + Spicy Garlic Shrimp)
    Marcus C.

Da Melting Pot was one of my favorite meals during my trip to Kauai. In the area, there were many different food trucks and this one caught my attention. They had a variety of different options, ranging from burgers to fresh seafood. The lady at the food truck was kind to me and answered any questions I had about the food. She described the Fish of the Day as fresh white fish which I cannot remember the name of. I was drawn to their Fish of the Day and Spicy Garlic Shrimp, so I ordered the Seafood Combo to try both! The Spicy Garlic Shrimp was filled with a lot of garlic, which I mixed into my rice. The shrimp was super fresh and juicy. The Fish of the Day was lightly fried to perfection, and I was blown away. Their homemade tartar sauce complemented the fish very well. On top of that, the portion size was beyond what I expected. I definitely recommend Da Melting Pot out of the food trucks in the area if you are looking for some delicious seafood!

THE BEST ahi katsu!! Still raw in the middle and the crunch!! So damn good

Recommended by one of our activity guides and we were not disappointed! The ahi katsu was definitely I must -have!!

    Mahi mahi and garlic shrimp

GOOD - ahi katsu and garlic shrimp was delicious. the salad served alongside was also good and not overly seasoned. food came out quick and hot. BAD - mahi mahi was AWFUL, inedible. It was very fishy (and I like all things fish) and mostly the vein part of the fish. I'd go back but I wouldn't order the mahi mahi again.

Truly one of the best meals I've had while visiting and I will definitely be coming back here again! Their menu had specials of the day, burgers, shrimp, fried fish, loco moco, and ahi katsu. I got the seafood combo (pick 2 entrees) and everything I had was so fresh and flavorful. The fish was so crispy and the amount of butter garlic they put on the shrimp, yum!

LAVA SHRIMP. Apologies for the half-eaten plate, we got too excited to eat.

Lava shrimp is absolutely amazing. Fresh, and full of flavor. If you came to Kauai looking for some dank garlic shrimp, this is your place. Food was so good we went back and ordered more. Rai was working the truck and was super friendly, the service was speedy. 10/10 would recommend.

Loved their Kauai garlic butter shrimp here. They open the shell of the shrimp on the sides which allowed a lot of the flavor to marinate the meat! It was so good! Salad on there wasn't necessary , i would have wish they had put a Mac salad instead. Definitely would recommend !

Best Ahi Katsu I've had. Perfectly seared. My coworkers and I frequently come here for lunch. Highly recommend.

Amazing menu and food! It is right next to the beach. You can eat there at the picnic table with umbrellas or walk over to the ocean.

Food is ok, but she got some really bad attitude towards us and we don't know why. Is it bc we are Asians? "Da melting pot"? what a joke...

There's even a small merch booth to browse while your food is being made. We waited about 20 minutes, but the staff were incredibly friendly, and it was well worth it. I ordered the Lifeguard Bento, which comes with the OG fried Spam musubi, truffle tater tots, choice of poke (I got spicy mayo), and rice for $20. The fried Spam musubi was so good that I'm not sure I can eat musubi any other way now. I also thought the truffle tater tots were an odd choice to offer at first, but they ended up being some of the best tots I've ever had, and the portion was generous. The spicy mayo poke was fresh and flavorful, making the whole plate a pretty solid value. This is one spot I'll definitely be coming back to every time I come back.

It's a cute spot to wait in, but we were waiting for like 40 minutes for our food. It's a little hard to find since it looks like it's in a residential area but keep looking until you find this gem!

There's benches and tables right in front of the truck with plenty of shade. My wife and I ordered the OG and the chicken katsu after seeing all the reviews about it. The chicken katsu was AMAZING. The employee who took my order was rude and even yelled at me because she couldn't hear me over the loud music playing in the food truck. I ordered the poke bowl special, which was supposed to come with their famous tots, but the tots were missing from my order. I considered going back to ask for them, but honestly, I didn't because I was worried the employee would be even ruder than she was when I placed my order. I also tipped 20% because I truly believe in taking care of people who work in the service industry. We also tried the katsu musubi and the fried musubi, and all three dishes were absolutely delicious. We've visited both locations, and while the food was excellent at each, the Poʻipū location lacked the warm, welcoming spirit you'd hope to experience while visiting Kauaʻi. That said, much aloha to Kauaʻi. We had a wonderful trip and can't wait to come back.
