I'm not knocking the competition, just saying this burger was a standout for the many I've tried. We got there right when they opened as I've heard they can sell out fast. Ok, maybe not that fast but that's what I told my husband because I was hungry and NEEDED a great burger. Let me just say, they are not afraid of seasoning! Totally a key component of home made burgers. Hanalei burgers beat mine by a long shot and I make a pretty darn good burger. Even better was I didn't have to clean the grill or kitchen after. The buns are super fresh, no cardboard in these babies. The pickles had crunch and great flavor. The lettuce was crisp and not one wilty edge on em. Their "secret sauce" was amazing. A tiny but magical hint of spice is used that complimented the burger in every right way. It definitely wasn't your average run of the mill thousand island bottle dressing. It's really good! Let's talk onion rings. These were excellent. If they were store bought I'd be shocked. Great crunch the way I like em. Comes with a side of said "secret sauce" for dipping. By the way, I had zero intentions of sharing with hubby but there were a lot in the order. I "graciously" shared because between us- I couldn't eat anymore lol. The staff were great! The young lady manning the window was fun and helpful. The "cooks" are really "chefs" in cooks clothing. LOL. This crew all take PRIDE in what they're serving and you know it with first bite. I've been searching for the best burger in Kauai, and I think I finally found it at Hanalei Burger. It's a food truck in Hanalei with plenty of tables outside to grub. Or take it to go and bring it to the beach. This is a simple burger done perfectly. The beef is juicy and flavorful, the toppings are fresh, and the secret sauce absolutely makes it. The sauce has a slight kick to it, just perfection. Everything works together without trying to be overly fancy. My recommendation: get the double. The extra patty takes it to another level and is well worth it. The fries are hot and crispy and go great with the sauce. If you're a burger lover visiting Kauai, or just need to kau kau after a surf in Hanalei this spot should be on your list. Simple, delicious, and easily the best burger I had on the island. The best way I could describe Hanalei Burger is Hawaii's take on an In-N-Out burger but WAY fresher and with organic ingredients. So basically, its better than In-N-Out. We came here absolutely famished from an 8 mile hike on the Kalalau Trail. It was hilarious that the women who was taking our order said SO many people always come after this hike. Needless to say, it hit the spot. The burger was fresh and delicious, the fries were perfection and the lilikoi lemonade was tart and not too sweet. We ate it all up and were eager to already fit Hanalei Burger in our remaining island plans. Unfortunately they were closed the rest of the time we were on island so we didn't get another taste but Hanalei Burger is now on our top list of places you MUST eat at on Kauai. HOLY WOW! We recently came here during our 4th annual trip to Kauai and man did this burger hit the spot after an 8 mile hike on the Kalalau trail!!! The menu is simple and delicious! The best part is they use locally sourced grass fed Kauai beef which they drive to the other side of the island to pick up fresh weekly I believe! They also use organic produce. I'm a sucker for a place that uses high quality, local ingredients because you really can taste the difference! I'll take quality over quantity any day! I got the double Hanalei burger and it did not disappoint! The fries were good too with the Hanalei sauce (their homemade thousand island sauce). Wish we could have tried the onion rings but we definitely will next time! The lilikoi lemonade was also refreshing and perfect. It wasn't too sweet, it was more on the tart side, just the way I like it! We both enjoyed our meal immensely and the lady who took our order was very kind and sweet. Wish we could have eaten here more but they weren't open during our last 2 days of vacation. Darn! But that's how you know they care about their ingredients because they don't cut corners just to make more money. Once they sell out, they close up shop until they can get more high quality ingredients to make those deliciously satisfying burgers! It was pretty busy and took some time to receive our order but the whole island seems pretty busy for the most part. Burger truck that is just getting established so doesn't seem to have set hours yet but when they are open, it's so good at reasonable Hanalei prices. The Hanalei burger with the Hanalei sauce is very nicely done. Don't skip the fries and lemonade as both are also very good.
