Seafood Combo (Fish of the Day + Spicy Garlic Shrimp)
    Marcus C.

Da Melting Pot was one of my favorite meals during my trip to Kauai. In the area, there were many different food trucks and this one caught my attention. They had a variety of different options, ranging from burgers to fresh seafood. The lady at the food truck was kind to me and answered any questions I had about the food. She described the Fish of the Day as fresh white fish which I cannot remember the name of. I was drawn to their Fish of the Day and Spicy Garlic Shrimp, so I ordered the Seafood Combo to try both! The Spicy Garlic Shrimp was filled with a lot of garlic, which I mixed into my rice. The shrimp was super fresh and juicy. The Fish of the Day was lightly fried to perfection, and I was blown away. Their homemade tartar sauce complemented the fish very well. On top of that, the portion size was beyond what I expected. I definitely recommend Da Melting Pot out of the food trucks in the area if you are looking for some delicious seafood!

GOOD - ahi katsu and garlic shrimp was delicious. the salad served alongside was also good and not overly seasoned. food came out quick and hot. BAD - mahi mahi was AWFUL, inedible. It was very fishy (and I like all things fish) and mostly the vein part of the fish. I'd go back but I wouldn't order the mahi mahi again.

Truly one of the best meals I've had while visiting and I will definitely be coming back here again! Their menu had specials of the day, burgers, shrimp, fried fish, loco moco, and ahi katsu. I got the seafood combo (pick 2 entrees) and everything I had was so fresh and flavorful. The fish was so crispy and the amount of butter garlic they put on the shrimp, yum!

LAVA SHRIMP. Apologies for the half-eaten plate, we got too excited to eat.

Lava shrimp is absolutely amazing. Fresh, and full of flavor. If you came to Kauai looking for some dank garlic shrimp, this is your place. Food was so good we went back and ordered more. Rai was working the truck and was super friendly, the service was speedy. 10/10 would recommend.

Loved their Kauai garlic butter shrimp here. They open the shell of the shrimp on the sides which allowed a lot of the flavor to marinate the meat! It was so good! Salad on there wasn't necessary , i would have wish they had put a Mac salad instead. Definitely would recommend !

Best Ahi Katsu I've had. Perfectly seared. My coworkers and I frequently come here for lunch. Highly recommend.

Popular menu items include ahi katsu 10/10, chili pepper chicken 9/10, and Hawaii's own- loco moco (not a huge fan in general). They offer a variety of other options, including poke, ramen, and sandwiches, with convenient takeout and delivery available. It's definitely a local favorite due to its generous portions, authentic Hawaiian cuisine and friendly service. We ordered the fried chicken and poke combo with wonton chips and the ahi katsu (my absolute fav). The ahi was fried to perfection- crispy on the outside while rare and tender on the inside. The sauce on the katsu was absolutely fire!!! So good! Macaroni salad was creamy and delicious. And the rice was perfect. Obviously, you cannot visit Hawaii without having some of their poke- always fresh and delightfully tasty. The marinade was savory and packed with flavor.

First time to Kaua'i and I'm looking for some local eats. From the reviews I've read, this seems to…read morebe a popular place. GETTING THERE: It was extremely easy to find. Its right off a main road and you cannot miss it. Parking lot was a bit small, but there was plenty of parking. AMBIANCE: When I went there was plenty of seating. A bit dead, but I also did go pretty early. There were a bunch of decor of older American pop culture like Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, etc. But also Hawaiian themed decor (obviously). SERVICE: You gotta walk up to the front to order. I was approached almost immediately as soon as I walked up to the menu on the screen. The girl working was super friendly and welcoming. I made my order and she gave me a pager for when my food was ready. FOOD: I ordered the chili pepper chicken, which was recommended from the girl at the counter. My friend ordered the ahi katsu. The chili pepper chicken was good! It was crispy and extremely flavorful. It was slightly too salty for my taste, but luckily the rice does help balance it out. Some of the crispness was sacrificed for the sauce, but it was overall still pretty crispy. I loved that they used boneless chicken thigh. I was expecting bones or lots of breading but it actually had a perfect ratio. I wasn't much a fan of the mac salad. It was like a mix of mac and potato salad, but more like a potato salad. I'm not big on potato salad, so that makes sense. My friend's ahi katsu was alright in my opinion. The sauce that's on it was good and enjoyed all the flavors. The tuna was just a bit overcooked to my liking, but idk how else one would make a katsu without overlooking it too much. Maybe bread the fish and freeze it before frying? Idk man, I'm not a chef lol but the tuna would definitely be better if it was less cooked. OVERALL: Honestly, I would still come here again. I still enjoyed the meal and the service was pretty quick. Both items were both worth trying. All the flavors were there and the little things I didn't like were just personal preferences. Its a great place to pick up a lunch plate and enjoy it at the beach.

Honestly, the wait is usually a good sign there. Your order lineup hits a nice mix: * Mandu great choice for something shareable and comforting * Korean chicken if it tasted like an ajumma made it, that's basically the highest compliment * Beef sliders can't go wrong, especially when they're "ono" That mix of Korean flavors with a casual, almost random décor (yeah, "Mexican-ish" is oddly accurate for some island spots) is part of what makes places like that memorable--kind of a cultural mashup you only really find in Hawai'i. If you ever go back, people usually rave about their: * Garlic fries * Poke-style dishes * Local beer selection Kaua'i's north shore is full of low-key gems like that, but Taps and Hops is definitely one that sticks with you

We both deduced the driver was a thief! The owner was super cool and chill and no one was to blame but DD. Regardless, we ordered the loco moco and it was DELICIOUS! Because of the DD mishap, the owner gave us 6 donuts. We came in the next day and grabbed some. The maple-bacon donut and Malasadas were pillowy and delicious. Thank you for the great food and wonderful customer experience.

No names were called when the food was brought out, and there were only two parties dining in the restaurant. The food was placed directly on the other table, where it was eaten while we waited another 20 minutes for our order to be remade. From what we observed, the other party appeared to know the staff and was not asked to pay while we were there. Mistakes happen, and as fellow business owners, we understand that. What disappointed us was how the situation was handled. We would have appreciated ownership of the mistake and an effort to make it right. We wish you and your business the best. Original review: We stopped here for a light lunch after the Fern Grotto tour. The iced coffee was very good, but unfortunately our dining experience was disappointing. When ordering, the employee at the counter seemed impatient while we looked over the menu, and the interaction felt rushed. We ordered fries, wings, two malasadas, and a loco moco without an egg. While waiting we ended up getting iced coffees. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, our food was brought to another group, even though it matched our order exactly. We had to point out the mistake ourselves. The other group proceeded to eat the entire meal we paid for while we waited another 20 minutes for our order to be remade. There was very little acknowledgment of the error, no meaningful apology, and no effort to make the situation right beyond offering us different food while we waited. We had already paid and ultimately asked for our meal to go. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. Watching another table eat the meal we had ordered and paid for without anyone taking ownership of the situation made for a very uncomfortable experience. The wings and fries were average, the coffee was excellent, but based on the service and how this was handled, I would not recommend stopping here for a meal.
