This place would have got 5 stars but unfortunately this day they were out of Heineken . This place would be perfect to have a casual beverage with appetizers. The service was very attentive. Prices were on the high side. $8 a beer is a little steep, but oh well. The food was tasty and I enjoyed it.
Got a loco moco to share with my husband. Very mid experience. The rice was dry. The burger patty was not that flavorful. We went in the middle of the day so not many people there but it felt extra dead inside.
Second time here! Veggie sushi burrito is sooooo fresh. And my daughter got another sushi burrito that she is still talking about, days later. We sat inside and had great service. The place was cute and cold which was a relief from the heat outside.
The food was great. I got the taco trio and each taco was flavorful but I think the beef one was missing something. It was just beef, a sauce and two pieces of tomatoes. I also got a side salad that was full of flavor - yummy Asian fusion tasting. My husband got the truffle burger and furikake fries. He loved it both. Lots of parking. Table was dirty when we were seated but waitress wiped it after we sat. I asked for hot tea because I saw cups and a hot water kettle but waitress said she didn't have. Boo. Other than that, food and service was great and we'll be back next time we visit.
Lots of parking. Nice and patient staff. Service was quick. The loco moco was pretty good (that's probably all I'd get if I was to ever come back). The poke is mediocre (nothing to rave about). I do like that it comes with avocado and rice. The gyoza was too overpriced for what it was. A bit overcooked if I'm honest. The sauce container busted so it flooded the gyoza by the time we got to it. This was our first time here and will not be our last.
The food was just ok. We got a Hapa burger, chicken katsu sandwich, Japanese sushi burrito, sunomono, regular and furikake fries. The Japanese sushi roll was probably the best, my wife really liked the chicken sandwich, I thought it was just ok. The chicken was very crispy but meh flavor. The sides were pretty small. The service was absolutely terrible, a bunch of apathetic, angsty teenagers, and I have very low expectations when it comes to service.
The restaurant was empty when I got here, but they played upbeat, fun music that really kept the vibes positive. Service was fast and efficient and staff was friendly. I only tried their Truffle Burger and I was in heaven! It was absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. The kauai raised beef was very juicy with a strong, fresh flavor. I love burgers, but I'm also very picky with how I like my burgers to be. This was absolutely perfect and I would 100% come back here if I get the chance to!

Kenji Burger was on the list--and it did not disappoint! Kauai is full of amazing mom-and-pop spots, and Kenji Burger is a gem among them. It's a small, unassuming place, but the menu is packed with fantastic options. I was craving a burger and went for the truffle one--absolutely hit the spot! Paired it with a side of furikake fries (okay, maybe a couple of orders), and they were addictive. Others in our group tried the fried shrimp and the cod sandwich--both were uber delicious and got rave reviews. The service was quick and friendly, making it a great spot for a casual bite. Definitely planning to come back!
Kenji burger is a very good eatery that serves unique burgers and Japanese food. The ambiance is modern with Japanese decor. The service was good and our server was very nice. Kenji burger - 5/5 The grass fed hamburger was broiled perfectly to medium. The Kenji burger flavor is kicked up with teriyaki ponzu aioli sauce which gave the burger a wonderful unique flavor. It added a slight sweetness to the savory burger. Be aware this burger is very juicy, and your fingers and hands will be sticky from the sauce that oozes out with every bite! The Kenji burger a winner! Furikake Fries - 4.5/5 The furikake sauce was over the top layer of fries and is very tasty. It went very well with the french fries. The only comment that I would like to point out is the sauce is sprinkled only on the top of fries. When you're finished with the top layer of fries, the middle and bottom layer of fries have no sauce. Suggestion - drizzle some sauce on the bottom layers, or offer extra sauce to the customer if needed. Our experience at Kenji Burger was enjoyable. We will be back to try other menu selections that look deliciously appealing. I recommend giving Kenji Burger a try.
Very tasty veggie burgers. It tasted like it was impossible or beyond meat. The spiced tomato jam adds a kick to it that makes it unique. Service was fast and the food was filling for what you're paying for. I feel like one order of fries could feed 2 people. For others that might be different, but for myself and my mom it was good enough. We're short Filipinos though haha. Ambiance is clean with a decent amount of seating. Not for a large party of 10+ ppl. Solid burger place in Kauai. My niece loved their children's grilled cheese. Love that they had a color sheet for her and a kid's menu. We came remembering a wonderful char-grilled burger but we were wrong. The burgers are just grilled like McDonalds. The beef is much better, lean Hawai'i ground beef and it was ok, just didn't rise to a higher level as we expected for a premium burger. They were dressed ok but fries are extra and they were fried brown and crunchy to the point we didn't eat them. Their drink selection is limited and they have few beers available. It was not busy at all, just a couple other tourists. They really need to provide uniform shirts. The place was empty but we had to sit at a tiny table. It was was ok but not as great as expected sadly.

Surprisingly delicious!!! Got the truffle burger which is a MUST for any mushroom lovers out there. It was ordered medium rare and they did exactly that!! Had so much poke during our visit and I'm so glad we switched it up with Kenji Burger. They also give a generous heap of fries. Would def recommend it & I can see us coming back when we visit Kauai again! read more

After exploring the west side of the island, we decided to try Kenji Burger for dinner. The staff was friendly and the laid-back atmosphere and music made for a great dining experience. My husband ordered the Kenji Burger, which was juicy, flavorful, and piled high with toppings - caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, tomato and arugula. I chose the Misoyako Fish Bowl. Miso glazed cod was fresh and tender, served over rice with a light salad. It was even better than I expected, and I enjoyed every bite. read more

Kenji Burger serves up some pretty tasty burgers. They also offer other food items which aren't bad. I have tried the sushi burrito and several appetizers and although they do not disappoint I will stick to the burgers. Y read more
If you like burger cuisine, this is the place. Always good service in a clean, cool space. Got the Hapa burger and it has so much going for it and it's delicious. Furikake fries are the perfect side for your tasty meal. Don't miss out on this spot, there are 3 or 4 of them on the island. read more

Ordered online to make it easy, went in to pick up and food was all ready and packed up, perfect. I ordered 8 items, when I got home there was 8 items in the bag. Go to check the food and it's missing the most expensive item in the order, the Japanese burrito. Instead of the burrito I got a side of regular fries. Tried calling 3 times (a little after 8pm) and nobody answers. Yes I understand you close at 8:30, that's why we tried calling to get it resolved before then. But no one picked up the phone. So my wife is heading home from work and is passing by so she stops by and tries to get it resolved and girl at the front says she "knows for a fact that she packed it" and "there's nothing she can do about it but give a credit", kept saying she put it in the bag and asked the cook to verify. Was told to go back the next day to pick it up...why would I want to come back the next day? I ordered dinner for tonight, not tomorrow.. I'm trying to get it resolved now. Yeah, by the time my wife got there it was 5 minutes before closing but sorry, your restaurant is the one who didn't put the correct food in the bag and then not answer the phone. Couldn't give me a refund, couldn't refund the difference between the regular side of fries and a Japanese burrito. All she could do was give me a credit or come back tomorrow...right on. Made both me and my wife feel like straight up liars, telling us to double check the bag lol, you think we didn't do that before we tried calling!? Ridiculous. The picture I took was after my two kids was already eating their food because I assumed it would get resolved when my wife went in since you guys wouldn't answer your phone. When she told me about her interaction with your staff I took the pictures. I ordered 8 items and 8 items were put in the bag..but tell me where the Japanese burrito is that the girl is so sure that she "personally put in the bag" and "knows for a fact that she packed it"... Spent over $100 on dinner and you auto add gratuity, atleast get the order right? or answer your phone? Or resolve the customer issue that was caused by you? Not give a resolution thats more convenient for you I would've never written this review had you just taken accountability and help out. But I get it, it's ALMOST closing time and you can't wait to go home. Instead you make us feel like we're lying and just trying to get free food lol Keep the burrito cause I'm definitely not going back for it tomorrow. read more

I'm so glad we decided to stop here and try our Kenji Burger. It truly was as delicious as it smelled in there. My husband and I shared the food and oh man, the burger was amazing!! The fries too. And as always, the spicy poke was just light and delicious! The staff were very nice and checked on us to make everything was good. read more

It was one of our first stops in Kauai. We ordered the following as takeout: - Hapa Burger - Misoyaki Burger - Chicken Katsu - Furikake Fries Total ~ $63 The food was good- the burger was actually a really good burger. Everything else was good average . We came in with high expectations from what we had seen on social media. Our fries were soggy; however, it could have been due to having them as takeout versus dine in. We unfortunately had a not so positive service experience. There was a moment where it seemed that the two staff were gossiping about us as they were whispering and glanced in our direction a few times (this could very much be an assumption.) When we asked for ketchup, one of them was going to give us a handful (the standard amount you'd expect) but the other staff stopped her from doing so, and only gave us two. We also didn't receive any utensils/napkins in our bag. This whole interaction made us feel off. Other things to note: parking was easy; location is in a plaza; the interior looked clean, with a few tables and a bar section; service took about 10-15 minutes. read more

Saw in a YT video that this was a go-to spot for burgers. The YT video was right, it is a good spot to eat at, but we didnt order burgers. We ordered a Rainbow burrito and a Chicken Katsu bowl. My husband said it felt skimpy in how much Katsu they were giving for $12. However, i felt like the burrito was the right size for me for having it as the first meal of the day. Service was nice, tended to us and gave us time to think about our order. You can seat yourselves. There is no bathroom here so you have to go outside the restaurant for it. Overall, I enjoyed it and recommend this place. Although theyre more known for their burgers, i enjoyed their other dishes. read more

We came here as a last minute decision because they were one of the places open late. We don't eat beef so we ended up getting a sushi burrito. It was awful. Even though they are a chain I would have thought they would have high quality seafood being that it's in Hawaii, but it definitely was not. We won't be back based on this experience. 3.5 stars We got the Kenji and Hapa Burger. Kenji is a clear winner for me but both were extremely messy to eat. The buns fell apart and over sauced but the patty's were cooked as requested (med rare). We asked for side of raw onions for a nice bite. Service was wonderful. read more
We seriously love Kenji Burger in Lihue and in Kōloa. Both are great food. We ordered the old Skool burger and different types of sushi. Service is good. Waiters are considerate and friendly. The koloa ambiance is more outdoorsy / patio but it's covered and comfortable. The Lihue location is indoors. read more
