Tried coming by at 7:15 AM--wasn't open yet. Came back at 1:40 PM another day and everything was sold out. Third time's the charm--we finally got to try the food! Friendly service--they bring the food out to you. The food truck is cute, and we parked nearby to eat in the car.. The smash burger was juicy, topped with mushrooms, fresh, and filling. We also tried the loco moco--classic comfort food. Warm, savory, and came with two over-easy eggs and two patties similar to the smash burger. So hot it burned my tongue (in a good way!). Parking is limited but didn't have a problem finding a spot. Worth the persistence! read more

The food was great, very decent smash burger , they also specializes in breakfast and fish dishes. Owner was down to earth local dude, very passionate about food. It was a very hot day and he offered us water and bathroom for my friend. He gets his veggies and fish straight from the grower and fishermen directly , fresh . I'm glad I found this place and able to grab a good bite ! Cheers read more

The food was delicious! So much flavor with the Lilikoi dressing on the BLT, my co-worker got the Ahi and Soba special and he said it was one of his top 5 meals he's ever had on a neighbor island. Definitely stop here if you're in the area and check out the stand next to it for yummy sweets too. read more

This is a great stop if you're hungry. I got the Philly style Pastrami Sandwich (a Thursday special), my dad got the smash burger, and my mom got a chicken caesar. The sandwich was quite large and did not skimp on meat, and while greasy and messy, the pastrami was extremely flavorful. It came with a generous portion of fries, which were also crispy and well-seasoned. My only complaint is that the fries could have been a little bit hotter, but they were still warm. My dad also enjoyed his burger, and my mom said her salad was fine, but nothing special (though it is hard for a caesar from a food truck to be too spectacular). At $18 for the sandwich and fries (I believe the burger and fries was the same price), it is not exactly cheap, but typical for Kauai prices, and you will definitely leave full and with good quality food. read more

Came here before our big day at waimea canyon and it filled us up with such delicious foods!! Tried their monte bear cristo which is pictured. It was soooo good and the jam is dreamy! It's like a french toast with jam but a sandwich. Da gourmet burger was delicious but my son ate it all. The kale and beet salad was delicious and refreshing. The avocado toastie was so good too but it needed a sprinkle of sea salt. That's the only complaint. The people were also lovely. Please visit!! read more

Old school food truck in the rural part of Kauai. Yes lives up to hype.. it's a good find for well made food, good portions (can compete with more expensive places on Oahu) and big plus reasonable prices. For example the blackened ahi sandwich for $15 is an absolute steal. Fresh ahi that's slightly fried on the outside enough to give a good crispy shell. The tartar sauce is excellent. Service is friendly and helpful. They didn't assume that ahi was going to be raw in the middle would be ok and gave the courtesy in asking. Maybe they thought I was a mainlander. Another excellent sign see a steady flow of locals coming here. Highly recommended. read more

Great food truck option when in the area. Food is great - especially the ahi tuna melt. Ono-licious! My only wish was that there were some tables to sit on, but the rock wall is alright in a pinch. read more

This place was the highlight of our trip! Da Smash Burger, delicious and hearty portions with fries. It hit the spot. 5/5 The Thursday Special, Blackened Ahi sandwich was out of this world. The ahi was cooked to perfection. Just the right amount of red onion and the aioli was to die for, all on the perfect delivery device, the brioche bun. 5/5 Grilled cheese and fries for the kids were scarfed down so quick, I didn't get a chance to try. 5/5 The family that runs Mama Bear's are the absolute sweetest. Highly, highly recommend! read more

Stopped by after visiting Waimea canyon. I had the bougee breakfast which is fresh hot naan filled with cheese, balsamic, bacon (I subbed the pancetta) and friend eggs. Tasted good but would have preferred no balsamic it threw me off to be honest. Hubby had the lox toast which he enjoyed but said too many capers. Employees were wonderful and we would definitely support this business again. read more

We stopped in on the way to a boat tour. The Smashburger and fries are delish at this little roadside food truck.

We had the Monte bear Cristo and the loco moco. Hospitality and food are excellent! We'll be back...

Fresh delicious and filling! Just what we needed after a morning at Waimea canyon. Food was made to order and came out quickly.

Very friendly service. Took our order cheerfully and delivered it to our car. The smoked pastrami sandwich was very good--the bread had a hard time holding all the filling. Fries were hot and crisp. We would definitely recommend stopping here. read more

Mama Bear's Kitchen is hands down one of the best food stops we've had in a long time! My husband and I ordered a mushroom Swiss smash burger and a chicken Caesar, and both were absolutely out of this world. The burger was juicy, loaded with flavor, perfectly smashed with crispy edges, and topped with melty Swiss and savory mushrooms. The Caesar was fresh and flavorful, and you could tell every ingredient was chosen with care. While we were waiting for our fresh fries to finish cooking in the fryer, they even brought our dogs their own unseasoned burger patty. Such a thoughtful touch and so rare to find that level of kindness and hospitality these days. This place is Hawaiian owned, and the passion for food and community shows. The owner and his chef Bob, a former professional in fine dining, clearly know what they are doing. Everything is cooked perfectly and served with genuine aloha. Whether you are local or just visiting, this is a must try spot. Support local, eat amazing food, and leave happy just like we did. read more

If you are on the island you need to stop by Mama Bear's Kitchen. It's a little food truck on the west side of the island right off the road. I had the Loco Moco and it was THE best on the island (in my opinion of course!). The portions are very generous and everything is cooked to perfection. We went back several times during our stay and also sampled many of there other dishes and all were amazing! Stop here and get your food! After you order they'll bring it to your car so you can sit back and relax. read more

We all had the smash burgers. They were huge!! I couldn't finish all of mine. My teenage boys were very happy though after a long hike through Waimea Canyon. The owner and her little dog, Bear (who is the cutest dog sitting in her basket!), were so kind. I can see why they have good reviews. Wish we were closer so I could try their breakfast options! read more

Love this place. I've had 2 different types of burgers the Gourmet and the Smash burger both with fries. Service is really fast and friendly, you order and they bring it out to your car. You can eat it in your car or there is 1 solitary picnic table nearby. Wish there was a better spot to sit down and enjoy I personally don't really like eating out of my car next to the road when it's busy. Definitely will be back again soon. read more

Wow. Hard to find the words to describe how phenomenal the food was. We got the Monte Bear Cristo which is essentially a deep fried (but not greasy) turkey ham and swiss cheese sandwich with a sweet jam atop. My partner and I stopped here for lunch after hiking in Waimea Canyon. We both got smash burgers, which were delicious (although I expected them to be thinner patties). Definitely bring your appetite because the portions are large! We ate in our cars since there isn't seating, but it wasn't difficult since they give you what you need to eat in your car. The most notable part of our visit was when our rental car wouldn't turn back on. They kindly helped us get going again by tightening a loose clamp on our battery. Stopped by on the way to Waimea Canyon Hike. Very friendly service. She said she would bring the food to our car. Just a small parking lot, no tables that I could see, so we drove to Waimea Park to eat. We got the Bearrito. Lots of meat. It was filling. I would have liked a bit more spiciness, but the green salsa helped. It was covered with cheese, then seared, so it was greasy. Bring wet wipes. read more

This place is a kind of small food truck. Don't let that stop you. We ordered the El Bearrito and the Boujee Breakfast. I had the Bearrito. Best burrito (breakfast or otherwise) that I have ever had in my 59 years. The house made chorizo was absolutely top-notch. If you pass by this place, you should do yourself a favor and stop.
