We had one of our favorite dinners in South Kauai here during our mini moon in early March. The Kauai Prawns & Cheesey Polenta Cake deserves 5 stars on its own. It was the highlight of the meal and one of the best things we ate that entire week. Visited here on our last night in Kauai and the vibes, ambiance, and service were just right for a nice romantic dinner. Our server Angie was fantastic. I loved my frozen mocktail - the virgin ube lava flow had satisfying ube flavor. The House Salad was a great start to the meal with a nice mix of greens and goat cheese with sweet flavors from the candied pecans, craisins, and pineapple vinaigrette. But the Kauai Prawns & Cheesey Polenta Cake, with sundried tomato, white wine, herbs, and cream, was the star of the show. I'm still thinking about it months later. For entrees we got the Blackened Fresh Catch and the MacNut Baked Fish, which were both enjoyable. The restaurant is located upstairs on the 2nd floor. Parking wasn't too bad, but it can get busy. Nice atmosphere and setting. Service was good and most of the food was good as well. We got scallops and prawns for starters. Both were yummy and enough for two people. For entrees we got the rib eye and crusted fish. Fish was good. However the steak was horrendous, particularly for the price they charge of $65. It had zero crust and was paper thin. It look like it was cooked wet because of how grey the exterior of the meat was. I was shocked that they sent out the dish that way. It was horribly cooked and complete rip off. I wouldn't complain if they had charged 20-25$ for that type of cooking, but $65 for that is unacceptable. Don't order the steak. Pretty disappointed by the standards, I want to like the place but the fact they sent out that steak and charge the price they did is enough for me to not want to eat here again. read more

We were excited to try this place, but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, it was uncomfortably hot inside, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal. The service was slow and inattentive throughout our visit. The food was just okay overall, although my wife really enjoyed her fish dish. The espresso martinis were the highlight of the night--they were excellent. We also mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary when we arrived. The food was good and well prepared but it was not anything super special that you couldn't get in a nice restaurant at home. I was hoping for more Hawaiian flare. We had the bacon wrapped scallops and the goat cheese croquets. I had the Kauai coffee braised beef and it did not have anything truly unique about it. My husband had the catch of the day with did have some macadamia nut crema. Everything was cooked well but we were not really wowed by anything on the menu. It's very straight forward flavor profile. It was nice that we didn't need reservations. Service was fine. I just enjoyed other places more. It was also slow when we were there. Booths are roomy though. read more

We had such a great dinner! Four of us came for dinner two weeks ago around 7:30 PM. We had a reservation, and were greeted by the host aka bartender who was warm and friendly. We wseated right away and had excellent service all evening. The food was top-notch which we weren't expecting. We understand all the challenges to serve food in Hawaii with the cost as well as staffing. And we are fine with this. A lovely restaurant with delicious inspired food, unfortunately we were there at the height of spring break so one large group with 6 unruly kids put a bit of a damper on the evening for the vast majority of adult diners. Food wise, we enjoyed the truffle croquettes a lot and the whiskey pork chop was tender and luscious. There's an ok wine list and a variety of specialty cocktails. We arrived before our reservation for the 5:00 first seating and sat at the bar where Elissa made us awesome happy hour Mai Tais. (Thursday is all day happy hour in the bar!) I had a wonderful experience dining here about a month ago! It was the most reasonably priced fancy-ish restaurant in the neighborhood (except for maybe La Spezia). I believe I saw somewhere that it's a popup? I never would have known--the interior was classy and felt very permanent. I tried the goat cheese truffle croquettes, and they were pretty good (but not amazing). The Asian wings were the best I have ever had though, and the chicken Marsala with polenta was incredible! I recently visited the Table at Poipu with my parents for dinner on our last night of being on Kauai. We have eating challenges ( gluten free (celiac), dairy allergy and egg allergy). Upon dining, we looked at their menu and it was labeled very well. When we went in, it was not what i was expecting from what i assumed was a high end restaurant. I just do not think booths screams fancy. I took a star off for that. Our waiter was so nice, but seemed nervous and not knowledgeable about the menu and how things are prepared but grateful he went and checked with the chef. However, we thought it was weird to be out of Parmesan cheese that night which was fine but strange. My mom who has milk, egg and gluten ( celiac) allergy ordered the house salad with no egg and the seafood risotto without cheese (which didnt matter because they were out of it). She said their goat cheese tasted like feta and got nervous and pulled it off her plate. My dad who is gluten intolerant ordered the beet salad and pork chops. He said it was okay not the best and a tad bit overcooked. I ordered a caesar salad ( that was untossed for some reason, but maybe because I ordered it gluten free as i am celiac) and the fish of the day that has the macademia sauce and lilikoi burreu blanc sauce. I believe it was a swordfish that night and i could not make any of the flavors from the sauces on it and the fish was fishy that it was hard to eat. Green beans were so overcooked but mashed potatoes were good. We looked at the dessert menu and the one thing i wanted, i thought was label gluten free was not and not interested in the other. I took 2 stars off for the food. The food was okay but i do not think we will be back on any future trips to kauai. read more

Get the pork chops. So good. Tender and flavorful and something unique. French onion soup was ok. I thought it was a little bland but it wasn't horrible. Little haupia tart dessert was a perfect ending. 4 of them in an order. Very refreshing and tasty. Service at the bar tables was great. Very friendly and helpful. Dining room looked a little more formal. But still everyone looked like resort casual. It's located upstairs by the upstairs bathrooms. Had a nice table by the window in the bar area. Reservations on OpenTable. Just check what days they are closed before you go out Only thing I found odd was they have a credit card fee but the way they characterize it is odd to me. The waitress spent 15+ minutes standing and talking at another couple's table. We had to motion to the busboy to order bread, etc. He was very cordial. The ambiance was very old school. We went to The Table twice on our family vacation in Poipu. The first time four of us went for dinner and the very friendly Jenny was our server. My son in law liked it so much that we decided to go again on the night before our departure for happy hour. Jessa was the happy hour server/bartender. She was very efficient and welcoming. The restaurant is large, clean and has an upscale bar area. Dinner: The pork chops had a delicious glaze on top, the braised beef also came in a delicious sauce. We had reservations for 6:15 on a Saturday via OpenTable and it was our first time dining here. We highly recommend you consider dining here for your next special occasion or date night. Table at Poipu is a very nice restaurant, definitely on the fine dining spectrum for Kauai. The server, Bailee was very nice she immediately recognized and acknowledged that my wife and I were local guests. She took the time to make small talk and made it feel personal. When taking our appetizer plates she jokingly said "wow someone must be in the industry because you stacked the plates and silverware" which is something my wife and do but that was the first time someone acknowledged it, and yes my wife used to work in a restaurant. The food was amazing we started off with the bacon wrapped scallops and the mushroom risotto goat cheese croquettes. Which were very delicious and decently portioned for the two of us. For our entrees my wife had the blackened fresh catch and I had the ribeye, which had more than enough meat that I couldn't finish it. For dessert we shared the Lilikoi Crème Brûlée which was delicious, we wish we could have more but we were full. This fine dining restaurant looked nice on their website, so my hopes were high. The decor inside is beautiful, but when we walked in for dinner, it was practically empty, and I soon found out why. We started with the Mediterranean hummus, which had so much garlic in it that after one bite, we couldn't eat it. It didn't matter, because within five minutes they brought out our entrées. I had a beef dish with a demi glace sauce. The meat and veg were barely warm, and the sauce was cold. My wife had a chicken dish which also appeared to have been reheated. I never send food back because I have worked in restaurant kitchens, so we ate it. I woke in the middle of the night feeling nauseous. Precooked food that's not stored or reheated properly can harbor bacteria and make you sick. read more

I found this restaurant on Yelp. Mark and I wanted a happy hour somewhere different from the offerings at the Sheraton where we are staying. It's a 7 minute drive or a 30 minute walk from the Sheraton. It's located in an upscale shopping center with charming architecture and plenty of free parking. The restaurant is located on the top floor and has a cool treehouse vibe. The bathrooms are located just outside the restaurant on the top floor and are shared with the adjacent businesses. They were immaculate and clean. The happy hour is 330pm until 530pm. It's a great way to enjoy delicious food and drinks at a great price. Kauai is expensive and Mark and I found that happy hours are a great method to save money. Happy hour is only in the bar area. Seating is available at the bar or at an adjacent high top table. ALL of the staff are super friendly and efficient. Our waitress Jennie is awesome and we loved our dining experience. The wine was half price by the glass and Mark and I loved the Cabernet as well as the Sauvignon Blanc. We ordered the risotto croquettes, the beet salad plus the spinach and artichoke dip. The portions are generous and ALL of the food was delicious!! For dessert we ordered the Lilikoi crème brûlée and it was fantastic!! My partner and i love coming here for happy hour. i always recommend this place to people looking for a good spot for a drink (i work in the same shopping center) and i've had people come back and say they loved it! whenever we go we always get a Lilikoi Spiked Lemonade to drink and i always get their bread butter as well as their chicken wings and fries. their bread and butter is my FAVORITE, if im not super hungry i usually just get that with our drinks. the staff is also super friendly and almost always remember us when we go. we haven't had dinner there yet but we will be going soon so ill be posting another review after that! i'm so excited! read more

We went there last year for happy hour and we remembered how good it was, so when we came to Poipu this year we decided to go for dinner with our son and family. The service was wonderful (sorry I forgot our lovely waitresses name), but they were great with our granddaughters too (6 months, 7 and 4). Kids menu with coloring books. The food was excellent and everyone loved what they ordered. I'd recommend the grilled artichoke, spinach & artichoke dip and spare ribs for appetizers. The Caesars salad, seared ahi and ribeye steak for dinner, then top it off with their Lilikoi Crème Brulee for dessert. Yum...we will return next year when we return to the island. read more

We sat at the bar waiting for our table for a drink and the service was top notch. Once seated the server was terrific as was the food. We shared a house salad which was plenty big. My wife had the risotto, I had the braised beef. Both were great. This is a top nice resturant. Clean, the tables are spaced out nicely and the wait staff was perfect. If I could make one recommendation it would be for them to change their signage. It's upstairs and not well marked. I had the fish stuffed with crab special. The fish was succulent and the sauce was . The my nephew had the beef dish, which was also delicious. The kids we were with had the mac and cheese and the chicken tenders and fries. The mac and cheese and tenders were homemade and perfect for the kiddos. I also had two yummy drinks.
