This was our 2nd visit to Kaui and Verde. We purchased chips & salsa, nachos w/chicken, carne tacos and plant based tacos. Everyone was very happy with their meals. I can specifically speak to the plant based tacos which were amazing. Overflowing with the delicious fillings which I scooped up with their great chips! I always appreciate restaurants that make the effort, above beans & rice, to accommodate vegetarians/vegans and they are definitely doing it rigjt! Drinks were well poured and staff was great. We were on the way back from ele ele and called ahead to order our dinner. We got two taco salads, a smothered ultimate chicken burrito, dip sampler, and kids quesadilla. They estimated 30 minutes and we would get there in 20. We ended up being able to grab our food at 20 minutes. We took the food back to our hotel and were able to enjoy it there. The taco salad I got came with their garlic shrimp. The shrimp was good not fishy tasting but less garlic than a shrimp truck. My sister got the beef (shredded like bulgogi) taco salad. I am surprised it wasn't ground beef. There was a lot of sour cream, guacamole, salsa and dressing that it was a whole bunch or heaviness on a bed of mixed greens. The taco shell was nice and crunchy even after having all the salad parts in it. My husbands smothers ultimate chicken burrito was delicious! Especially with their spicy sauce which I got 5 sides of. The dip trio: salsa, guacamole, and pumpkin queso. I don't think we got the salsa unless it was part of the hot sauce and we. Weren't charged for it. The pumpkin queso was interesting-very light on the pumpkin but still good. Overall, we were very happy with the choices we ordered. Happy hour! I found myself in Lihue for work for 2 days and on the first day, I found Verde. I sat at the bar and was checked on frequently. I ordered chips and queso and it hit the spot! Add a margarita and we were on our way to a fabulous happy hour. When I learned they make their own tortilla in-house, I couldn't resist. I ordered 2 warmed tortilla with a side of butter, and I was transported back to my childhood for a warm snack after my grandma made tortilla when she would visit. How much did I like Verde? I had seen Verde featured on a local TV show awhile ago, so during a recent visit to Kauai, I decided to stop by before heading to the airport. So glad I did! I enjoyed fresh guacamole and chips, a glass of Pinot Noir and their Braised Kauai Beef Tostada Salad - so satisfying filling and tasty! I love the flavors and local beef is THE best! Had a great time at Verde recently. Verde is more of a casual sit down dine-in restaurant, but please choose this spot if you love Mexican food. This is by far the best Mexican food in Lihue. Our meal was so delicious and customer service was extremely attentive and helpful. We ordered a tostada and chicken burrito and were pleasantly surprised but so much flavor and generous portions! Our waitress continuously checked in with us to see how we were liking our meals, and even suggested to us to try the ube churros. We weren't planning on dessert, but so thankful we tried the ube churros it was such a delicious dessert. We will be back soon! read more

This place was one of our very favorite restaurants we visited while in Kauai. It was one of the few places we chose ourselves verses following recommendations from locals and we were not only surprised no one had mentioned it but absolutely BLOWN AWAY by how great the food was. Not to fail to mention, it was by far one of the two more reasonably priced places not just by quality but by portion. The tacos were large and on homemade tortillas with so much flavor, and the burrito was as big as my arm and the blend of beans and potatoes... highly recommend getting bacon!! We came around 12:30 pm to get a quick bite. I was excited as this was my first time here. I like the vibe of this place. It wasn't too busy but it did get packed when we were about to leave. I ended up ordering the garlic shrimp tacos. When I received my food, my mouth was already watering. I squeezed the lime on my taco for that extra refreshing taste and let me tell you, my first bite was amazing! The garlic shrimp was a little burnt, but the flavors in my taco overpowered it. I wish it wasn't so messy though because it kept dripping, but that's very minor compared to how it tasted. 5/5 would recommend. Definitely check Verde out, you won't regret it! read more

Finding healthy and flavorful options is so difficult -- you either get healthy food that is neutral tasting or unhealthy that meets your taste buds, but this place meets all bars. So many varieties of veggies in one plate, broccoli, zucchini, avocado, peppers, spinach, tomatoes, onions. We ordered the the ultimate bowl and stacked veggie enchiladas. This place is amazing! We are from Southern California and love Mexican food, and the food here was superb. I ordered the fish tacos and my husband got the chicken burrito and our kids got the kids burrito and quesadilla, and we all gobbled it up. Their menu online is out of date, the vegan tacos they had online weren't on their actual menu which was a bummer because we specially went there for the vegan tacos. They were able to accommodate and make their veggie tacos vegan by taking off a sauce. The tacos were actually very good, different, but good. Their chips were pretty stale and lack flavor and the salsa were pretty bland, no spice and barely any flavor. My husband had furikake shrimp tacos which were as described on the menu. I had the veggie stacked enchiladas. In a Mexican restaurant, I would expect veggie enchiladas to have zucchini, grilled onions, mushrooms, peppers etc but these were were heavily dependent on broccoli. Not very authentic. Rice & beans have to be ordered as a side for an additional charge, but they were good. All in all, I probably will not be back. There are too many other options to put up with mediocrity. read more

My dad and brother loved this place on a trip in 2012 so I came back this year. Got food poisoning from the mahi mahi tacos and ruined the last day of my vacation. The tacos themselves weren't bad but I imagine the slaw wasn't washed or handled well or the fish. Didn't eat anything else that day and was bed and bathroom bound the whole rest of the next day. Wow, this place was a world class disappointment. Not one person liked their food in a party of 6 and the bill was close to $300. You only complain about the bill when the food was bad! Service was rude, like no one wanted to be there. But once we paid the bill boy did her attitude change. She was so nice and bubbly for that tip.
