Always gotta stop here for a quick bite on our way to (or from) Cleveland. Their crunchy tacos are consistently better than Taco Bell's and they have tater rounds (potato ole's)! Took 34 minutes to get our food. 4 people behind the counter and one on break eating his lunch. Food quality continues to go down hill with each trip, which is about every 6 months as I travel through the area. This might be the last time. We stopped here passing through the area on the way to Cleveland. It was kind of a disaster. We went in to order and it was chaos behind the counter. Food being given to the wrong customers. No one taking orders. Items missing from like every order. They took my Mom's order and served her food before I had even ordered. So, it goes without saying it's slow. The front desk guy was kind of snarky also. The food itself was not good. It was lukewarm, the meat wasn't great, and overall was dissatisfying. Stopped into Love's for gas and stayed for a Taco! Ok, I ran into Taco John's and got one (just one) to go. Easy access through the convenience store, pass through Subway and there you are. There is also a direct entrance from the parking lot. The hard shell Taco was good and prefer the hot sauce over the mild. read more

Hey Belleville and Lexington, you already know about this local gem but if you're a passerby on I-71 and looking for a good, quality meal find your way to Taco John's on Rt. 97 near Mansfield. My wife and I discovered this place today and were told on the way in by the locals that we had made a good choice and right they were! I've never eaten at a taco johns before. I was going to get subway but decided to try something new, I can say it was a great decision. I ordered the beast burrito and it only took 1-2 minutes for it to come out. When the lady gave me the bag I about dropped it, I had 2 burritos and it felt like it came with a dumbbell. Ok, so my first encounter with this joint was on a road trip to Kentucky. Upon entering, I was greeted by a very friendly employee. Then I saw the menu and all I remember was seeing was a menu with burritos and tacos but it was the tater tots that sealed the deal for me. We ordered tots, queso blanco, crispy tacos and a chicken grilled burrito. Everything, and I mean everything was fresh, fast and absolutely delicious. This is not the place with the bell and while there's nothing wrong with that other place, they are not one in the same. Since the closest Taco John's to me is almost 2 hours away, it may be a while before I get one of these yummies in my belly again. Surprisingly good tacos... They are definitely better than Taco Bell's, even if that isn't saying much. Their inclusion of fried potatoes for other than breakfast is different, but they are tasty. I had one very minor issue and it was quickly resolved by the super friendly staff. The only thing I don't care for is their tortilla chips. They're fine, but thin and not much taste. Our first experience here. Hoping for something better than Taco Bell. The tacos were full of ingredients, however, the shell fell apart from being saturated with grease/moisture from the ingredients. Also orders a very disappointing steak burrito. Lastly, we got chips and cheese as a side and while the chips were fresh, they were also good of flavor. Store was busy and lacking condiments, drink lids, and napkins. For q fast food joint this place is pretty good. Not necessarily a replacement for my favorite fast food guilty pleasure Taco Bell but a good substitute. I didn't try what looks like their version of tater tots? Which is their main side instead of French fries. I did get one of their burritos. Not at chipotle level by any means but it was tasty, cheap and quick. They use a few toppings that taco bell doesn't (like olives) that I think provide just enough of a difference than the Bell that it feels like a similar yet different restaurant. Definitely worth a consideration if you are already stopping for gas but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

Never been to one, the only other one in Ohio I'm aware of is in Athens. I thought it was substantially better than the better known Taco place (ring any bells?) I just did the #1 Combo which is two tacos -- the shells are seasoned a bit, good size, nice toppings. The combo included their Potato Olés®, which were seasoned perfectly, hot...very good. There wasn't much open, so we thought we'd take a chance on Taco Johns. It was inside a gas station- which did not thrill me. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean and the people were very kind. They unfortunately did not have ground beef, but they offered steak for the same price as compensation. Inside the Love's truck stop, this taco joint is better than Taco Bell! They give more in their portions for the same price as the competitor. Service is always great, whether you go through the drive thru or walk up to the counter. If you eat in, the food is even delivered to your table! The manager, Jasper, really has a great attitude and is always helpful if you are not 100% satisfied; she goes out of her way to make sure you leave smiling! Quite possibly the worst fast food experience I've ever had. After ordering and paying for my food, I stood there waiting for 15 minutes, and then was asked if I was ready to order.......No, you aren't misreading this and I didn't mis-write it. I ordered, PAID CASH TO THE TELLER, waited for 15 minutes, and then was asked if I was ready to order. After calmly explain that I had already ordered and showed them my receipt, they acted as if I was in the wrong and got hateful about why I hadn't said something sooner. I FINALLY got the food I had ordered just to find it very sloppily thrown together (taco sauce all over the OUTSIDES of the taco shells and none inside). At no point was an apology given for the delay and mess ups. If I could rate lower than 1 star I would. I threw most of my food away and got some Love's roller food instead. Clueless at the drive-thru. Waited 10 minutes behind one car, was charged for somebody else's order. When I questioned it, they looked so puzzled that four of them had to confer to figure out what happened. Not one of them said that they would make my order correct. Meanwhile, I'm sitting there with a charge on my card, so I asked them to refund my card, which took another several minutes. Not one of them apologized until I asked if I was going to get an apology. Maybe it's better at other times of the day, but for a 24-hour fast food place, I got neither fast service nor food.
