Excellent Mexican food with great selection. I love fish tacos and usually order them whenever I get the chance and these were some of the best. Great flavor with just the right amount of toppings on 3 tacos. My husband ordered Huevos Rancheros with black beans and was not disappointed! After a frustrating afternoon trying to find anything of interest foodwise open on Sunday near downtown Mansfield, we finally decided to just head towards the freeway to see what derelicts of American fast food decorated the concretescape. When we were about a mile from the intersection, my copilot (who had been immersed in her phone searches) called out, "Hey, there's a Mexican place open up here near the freeway. You wanna check it out?" Damn straight, I did. And, we were able to find it...hidden near the top of a hill in a cluster of chain motels scattered about like condos in a Colorado ski town. Not knowing what to expect, when we walked in, our depression was instantly transformed into joy. It was colorful, traditional Mexican music was playing, there were signs announcing local charity events, and a hostess greeted us like we were old friends. Once seated, we needed more time (twice!) to explore the menu. So much to choose from, and all of it so tempting. I ordered a beverage to help disguise the water that was threatening to leak out of my mouth. Eventually, we ordered way too much food for much too little money. When the food arrived, the portions were very generous (multiplying our over-ordering). Steaming, aromatic, colorful, and chock full of various ingredients. The spice was just right. Much later in time and number of beverage orders, we reluctantly had to stop. When we left, we were doing the circus box-stacking trick trying to get back to the car with the remainder of our over-order. But not without a warm round of thanks on the way out from just about everybody who worked there. We normally travel through here at night and have to eat fast food, but we traveled by day and decided to stop for some real food this trip. Sooo glad we found this place! The roasted salsa is very good, the beans were 'sloppy' and delicious. Flautas were crispy, and the toppings were fresca. Chili rellano very flavorful. The Flan is by far the best flan I've ever had. The food could have been warmer and there were tomatoes in everything. They put lettuce on top of most dishes like they have something to hide. I did not hate the food but it was forgettable and I have no clue why this place has the ratings it does. My margarita was warm and not even moderately strong. The biggest issue is the service. I'll start by saying if you're a fan of flan this is a must try. Tonight's sampling was a tad bit over firm but the taste was absolutely incredible. Could possibly be the best I've ever had. I also enjoyed the fajitas carnitas. The dish was very tasty and I couldn't finish it there was so much on the plate. Their salsa is also very good. It has a roasted flavor to it and I went through two bowls. The server was exceptional. He kept my water full and made sure I was lacking nothing. Came here for dinner after a long day in the sun. We were quick to be seated. They had indoor as well as outdoor seating. The menu was huge; a little hard to follow as the organization of the menu was not consistent, but full of plenty of options. Food was fresh. Delicious, great for the price. El Charrito looked pretty good, and we were not disappointed. The food was good, basic Mexican. Not sure what some of the less complimentary reviews were talking about, but we did not experience any of these issues. I had the Taco Salad and the hubby ordered the Pollo El Charrito. The shrimp on the Pollo El Charrito was very good. Both dishes were quite yummy. Also came with a generous bag of chips and some excellent red salsa. A nice combination of flavors in the salsa. My only thoughts about my meal was that perhaps it could have used a bit more heat. But that is probably due to the fact that we are used to Arizona food, where everything is hotter! read more

Found this tiny place on our way to Columbus. Probably an hours drive. Wanted a quick bite, saw the yelp 4rating and went ahead. Loved the food. They give free chips and salsa. Liked the salsa, the chips were a tad bit thick. But it's free.. So no complaining.. :P Then came my order of pollo poblano and flan. Loved it. The veggies and meat were perfectly grilled. I had carnitas and they were tasty. The rice and beans both needed a little help in the seasoning department but some salt helped them along. The tortillas were quite tasty I think they may make them in house but I'm not sure on that. They were either fresh off the grill or out of the microwave either way they were yummy. Ate there 11/19/20, this was the worst Mexican food restaurant I've ever ate at. Was passing through from Texas, stayed at the travel lodge next door figured I'd walk next door and have dinner. Enchiladas was runny and the sauce was like spaghetti sauce, the beans were worse, rice was the only thing on the plate that was decent. $8 margaritas was pure sweet and sour, just overall experience was terrible. I was overcharged on every item. (Not by much,but still) and to top it off they charged 7% tax. I thought, wow, Ohio sales tax is 7%? I googled it and seen it's 5.75%. I asked "Ohio sales tax is 7%?"
