We used to go here every week but after our last experience we won't be going back. Five of us were dining. First, our server argued with us about how the meal was made. We ordered a cheese dip with our chips which was never served. He forgot our second order of drinks. My wife's meal was made wrong twice but she ate it anyways because we didn't want to wait any longer. The worst part was that our rice was so salty we couldn't eat it. I told the owner and he just nodded his head and walked away. We wasted our money. Well we were in Mansfield to visit my sick uncle, and as we were leaving I spotted the restaurant up on the hill by an exit. The chips and salsa was served- good. Service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. But, the people there didn't speak English well. I got the chicken enchilada, and it was dry as a bone, along with the rice. I ended up dumping some of the extra salsa on it to give it some "juice." I tried a piece of my friend's beef enchilada- also dry. So was their rice. We noticed the $1.99 margaritas advertised and thought we would try this place since it was Wednesday. First off the place looks cheap inside. The waitress acted as if she didn't speak English or was just ignorant of the menu when asked a question. The drinks had almost no tequila and she got the order wrong. We asked for rocks and were given frozen. My meal was so disgusting I couldn't finish it. There was no lettuce and tomato garnish, just a half limp tortilla with some sauce that looked and tasted like it came out of a can. Really? Had to ask for sour cream and she brought it out like a dip instead of on my plate. Taco Bell at 2am has got to be better than this. Wouldn't feed it to a dog. The cashier asked how my meal was and I said "Terrible." I don't know what's worse; the food or the waste of $24.00 and 45 minutes of my life. read more

First, I wish I wasn't only in town for one night. The food is delicious. I pulled up and the street sign for restaurant was out, but as I pulled into parking the Open sign was on. From the time I arrive the service has been outstanding. Living in Texas you know good Mexican food, but this place could top many of them. The food is very fresh and incredibly tasty. If you are staying around this place for the night, do not pass on this incredible meal. Even asked if they they had seafood enchiladas and they said they would make whatever I would like. The earlier reviews perhaps inflated my expectations to unrealistic levels. I did the drive from Columbus to Cleveland and was hungry as I pulled into Mansfield. El Campesino is a good choice if you are tired of the same old fast food choices along freeway stops. Especially good is the chips and salsa they provide free of charge. The chips are light and crisp. The salsa fresh and tangy. Yummy. I had the shredded beef chimichanga. It was passably good. I had hoped for better. Beyond the food the modest decor was bright, clean and inviting. The staff was friendly and prompt. The food was served quickly, was hot and well presented. Like I said, if making the drive between Cleveland and Columbus and you feel like something a little different you can do much worse than El Campesino. I plan to return to try other menu items . Oh, and the prices are very fair. The lunch menu makes it a reasonable alternative to fast food. read more

The food was pretty delicious for the first half of my meal, then my extreme hunger subsided and I realized my cheese enchiladas tasted like it was stuffed with craft american singles. My sister got tacos and she had the same complaint about the cheese, but said they were pretty good anyway. So not the freshest ingredients ever, but it was decent. My Dad got 2 chimichangas which he said were awesome. The chips were very good and the salsa was some of the best I have ever eaten. Overall I wouldn't recommend El Campesino to a friend, but I wouldn't stop them from eating there either. If they switch out the processed cheese product with some authentic fresh stuff, I might go again. read more

The service was fast and friendly. The salsa here was uncommonly tasty-both my friend and I mentioned it. I ordered a chimichanga from their huge menu. It was decent, filled with shredded beef and served with rice and beans. Margaritas were super sweet, you couldn't taste the tequila. Many folks seem to give this restaurant high marks and I don't know why. The food is okay, but not terrific. The service is TERRIBLE! I tried it tonight for the first time. They seat me at a 2 seater in the middle of a dining room. It felt awkward because I was in a high traffic area. My waitress was the worst ever. She took forever to even acknowledge me. It went downhill from there. I ordered fajitas and she never brought any tortillas. Really? I finally had to flag down a hostess who also forget to get my tortillas and my food is now getting cold. Then the hostess came back over with silverware asking if it was silverware that I needed. Well, what do you think? Look at my table and you will see a knife, fork and spoon.
