La Cabañita - Pollo poblano - Mexican Near Me - Mount Gilead, Ohio

My wife and I are staying at the Mount Gilead State Park, and we wanted to go out to eat. Honestly, this is probably the best restaurant in Mount Gilead. That said, the interior is a little tacky and worn, but the food and service are terrific! My wife ordered a à la carte chicken enchilada and a side of rice while I ordered their shredded chicken taco and chicken tortilla soup. All four dishes were huge and delicious! I did need to add a little kicker to the salsa but all things considered, it was pretty good! The chicken tortilla soup had a huge amount of chicken in it, accompanied by fresh fried tortilla bits. Combined with the salad, it was more than enough for a wonderful dinner! read more

The food was fantastic! My companion and I both truly enjoyed our lunch. The staff left a bit to be desired as far as friendliness. The service was good, but the interaction needed to improve. I don't know if it was a language issue, because they didn't attempt to interact. But I would most definitely recommend the restaurant. read more

Cute spot in downtown Mount Gilead. Our large group was seated quickly on a Saturday around noon. Service was quick and very friendly. Typical menu options. Prices were good and the lunch menu options were available on the weekends. I had the lunch chicken and chorizo with rice and beans. My husband had a ground beef taco and enchilada. In both cases the meat did not taste like it had been seasoned directly. The sauces had good flavor and the chorizo was spiced well but overall I would prefer the meat to have seasoning of its own - at least salt and pepper. I would say if you are in the area this is a solid choice for basic Mexican fare with quick service and good prices. read more

Excellent food and staff the service is second to none. We frequent this location when in town, the atmosphere is also like other.

1st time having lunch here with the family. The food was great and our waiter was top notch. The host however was not so friendly, lacked customer service. I had the combination plate with the enchilada and crunchy taco. The refried beans and rice were very good read more

Outstanding service and delicious food. I've been here multiple times and the food always comes out quick and tasty. Highly recommend!

Great food and great service!! I'm pretty picky about .y Mexican food and this place is top notch

Omg! Homemade, hot and fresh sopes in Mt G!!!! Best sopes we've ever had!! A lot a few extra mins as they are poured fresh. Wow!!!!

I've gone here a couple of times. It's a good Mexican restaurant with generous portion sizes. It's not the best, but still pretty good. Most recently I tried the vegetable fajitas as I like to compare how it is at various locations. This was a bit unusual as the fajitas had broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots in them. It's an interesting choice I'm not entirely in support of, but I think the flavor being a bit lacking might not be due entirely by the vegetables. The service is normally good, but this time was rather lacking as she was chatting with friends more than working. The décor was warm and cozy with a unique exterior that makes it very noticeable. Overall it was a pretty good time. Be sure to check lunch specials. read more

The service/waiters are very nice and welcoming. The inside of the store gives hole in the wall vibes but in a good way, like a small little restaurant. The food Is overall good but I have had better authentic Mexican food. Very good experience, for such a little cute restaurant. read more

One of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever had. Of course I always order more than I can eat! Chicken Tortilla soup, Shrimp Quesadilla, and a hard taco! My fiancé ordered 3 tacos also. Enough food for lunch and dinner for $30! Also, the staff is always attentive and nice. We sometimes sit at the bar and get margaritas! Something about this place just feels like a warm home. We will keep coming back! read more

La Cabañita - Chicken Tortilla Soup, Shrimp Quesadilla, and taco - Mexican Near Me - Mount Gilead, Ohio

The service and ambiance were good, the food itself is unfortunately the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I've been there twice and the only thing that was good was the margaritas. I got a combo platter, both items were nothing but plain ground beef with nothing on it, flour tortilla, bland tomato sauce and some plain cheese warmed up. There was no difference between the different items. Tamal was also dry and bland. Queso was bland and watery, salsa had no spice or texture. Pretty sad when Taco Bell has more flavor and differentiation between items. read more

Small place with very good service & excellent food. Our waiter was very friendly and peeked in on us from time to time just to make sure we didn't need anything. The food was tasty and fresh, the portions were decent too. My gf said the margarita was good & strong, & also came in a giant size. Nice place to go if you're in the area. Prices were reasonable too. read more

The food is great chips can be a little stale sometimes the service there is great I think it is cool how most of them can speak 2 different languages and they are very nice the ambience of the place is amazing I think USA needs more mexican returaunts like this it would be cool if they had the option of bowls where you can customize it to your liking but other than that the place is great so 4 stars read more

Orderd from this restaurant for pick up, and when I get the food home we could not eat the shrimp because it had not been deveined. When I called in I was told that is the wat it comes, and they had never had a complaint before. read more

This is the best Mexican restaurant ever! Their Fajita Mexicanas are the best along with their peach margaritas on the rocks with sugar on the rim. My daughters like to get the Pollo Con Crema, which they of course love. The service is top notch because Miguel and his staff make it feel very welcoming every time my family and I go there. read more

Whenever I happen to be anywhere near Mt Gilead, this is my go-to lunch spot. Great food, service and super reasonable prices.

Great food and great service. This is family friendly casual place. I highly recommend.

Food was good-service was great-but the whole restaurant smelled like an old man's cigar and he's still smoking it-place needs aired out. Other than that great cheap good! read more

The service is always fast, friendly, and good. You never have to wait long for a table or food even on busy nights. Big menu. Delicious.

Delicious carry-out order! Chips and queso were really good and tacos were gone in 10 minutes!

I believe the wife and I were among the first customers after they opened for business and I will tell you right now that we visit every chance we get. The cusine is AMAZING! The staff is above and beyond, attentive and efficient not to mention friendly and respectful. You will NOT be disappointed with this establishment. Also, at the time of this review, they are in the process of adding what appears to be a patio area for outside dining and I think it's going to be great. Make sure if you are in the area to stop by and try La Cabañita, you'll be glad you did. read more

We ordered take-out here on a whim while passing through the town. We didn't know anything about the town nor this restaurant, but we were very pleasantly surprised! Their menu is diverse and very fairly priced. The food was surprisingly authentic- very unexpected for mid- Ohio. If I ever find myself passing through this town again, this would be a great choice for a meal! read more
