We love discovering "mom and pop" hole-in-the-wall places, and I came across a wonderful little coffee shop in Mansfield this morning. Pump and Grind is the kind of place you might miss while driving by, but it is incredibly quaint and cute inside. The service we received was fabulous. They offer both to-go ordering and dine-in service with a great selection of breakfast and lunch items. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, and I was impressed that they use real bacon and eggs rather than the pre-made, microwaved options you find at many other places. My raspberry cheesecake latte was also delicious--I only wish I had ordered a larger one. I will definitely be going back soon and highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area. read more

Stopped in with my wife and mom for the monthly News Journal Retirees breakfast. There were 9 present on 5 checks. Honestly, our server did pretty with such a large number. They also did pretty good keeping our beverages topped off and getting all of the meals out together. There was only one slight kerfuffle and they remedied it fairly quickly. My breakfast quesadilla was fairly tasty but there was an additional charge for salsa and no option to add sour cream or jalapeños. The salsa seemed to be restaurant pack. The gravy for the biscuits & gravy is not what most people would expect for breakfast. It was pretty thin and brown. read more

Ariel, our server, was great. She was friendly and attentive. The food was hot, eggs were cooked well and everything tasted great. The sausage gravy was different, but still was good. All of the staff worked as a great team....helping deliver food, fill coffee, and clear tables. Stopped in here while in town visiting he sites where they filmed the Shawshank Redenption. It first appeared as a dump walking into the door but it was very cozy and pleasant and the staff was very friendly. I ended up getting a butter butter cold coffe and the grinder bowl. One of the best breakfast I've had ever and the coffee was great. I got it with half the sweetness and it was perfect. read more

The food is still good, but there are some kinks to work out. The new building is comfortable and pleasant...on the inside. Outside looks like an abandoned dive bar. No new items on the breakfast menu that I have noticed but the food is still solid and the coffee is excellent. The real hitch is the service. It's really gotten spotty in the new location. I'm sure once the growing pains get sorted out they will be fine. read more

Random restaurant in a random place - which makes these places awesome. The interior of the facility was nicely done and the staff was very friendly. The food was plentiful and no one left hungry. Prices were more than fair. Biscuits and gravy were pretty good, but there are several other things I'd try on future visits. I went due to the "breakfast and coffee option" for myself & my littles. we got lunch & coffee. Iced coffee was good. Food was good. Little pricey I thought for 2 things off the kids menu, 1 adult meal, an appetizer, coffee, & donuts.. but I think the donuts were the most expensive part & they weren't very good. I will say that I do NOT think THEY do the donuts. I think they just sell them there for another business. The food overall was okay/good, but I wasn't super impressed with it. I love to eat, love good food, & LOVE to shop/eat local!! The building def looks like a night bar. I was confused when trying to find it & had to call and ask. I wasn't sure to take my kids in, I had to ask on the phone. BUT def kid friendly once inside. Donuts were not good.. almost hard & just not the best. I LOVE a good donut, but these were not it. Idk if they had been there awhile that day or what exactly. So nothing directly negative about this place. Just don't recommend the donuts. & know what you're looking for when trying to find it. Also, the owner lady (I think) was super nice & friendly. Checked on us multiple times. Bathrooms were also clean. Def some locals in there. 1 thing I did note is she told my kids they could have something from a toy box if they were good.. & they were good.. & then she told us bye & my kids never got to do that.. Was really looking forward to eating here as a friend had recommended it. We went an all I can now say is AVOID it. Under 20 people in the whole place and food took almost 40 minutes to be served with no explanation. This was for an order of biscuits and gravy and a bowl which could have been described as something you throw out after breakfast. Burnt biscuits and Luke warm when served. Too bad I was really pulling for a new local breakfast spot Hopefully they will improve or just caught them with bad help that day. Owner sat at the bar the whole time in there you would have thought she would have noticed or given the kitchen some assistance. Relatively new place (as in their physical location is new). They've got a full bar and a liquor license and lots options on food. We came in for Sunday brunch. The outside of the place is a little bit hard to see that it's a nice diner, but when you come in, it really is Lots of lottery available, a nice atmosphere really good service and one of the better diners I've been to in a long time. The food was great. The portions are nice and large and the prices are very reasonable. And you can get a secret recipe, made in the bar, Bloody Mary with a coffee and not break the bank on Sunday morning. Not too many places you can get a good breakfast and a drink at the same time. I had breakfast at Pump & Grind on 12/21/24 for the first time, and had their Grinder Platter with scrambled eggs, bacon and wheat toast. Portions were generous, service was quick and employees were warm and engaging. Their location was a "cute" little home, and I was advised by Jessica and Adam that they would be relocating to a new location as of 12/22/24. As noted in some of the other reviews, customer service is a priority at P&G; I had accidentally left a personal item and Jessica and Adam were quick to address my mistake and made a personal trip to meet me the same day after-hours to help me get my item back. Thank you for a great meal and for what you did for me; I look forward to returning when am back in town for work again! read more

Awesome little cafe in Mansfield! We stopped in on Monday morning after the Inkcarceration Fest for coffee and a bite to eat before heading home to Geauga County. The ambiance is cool and relaxing. Music themed with art and records hanging on the walls. The staff were all super friendly and interacted with us like we have been coming there for years. I had regular coffee & the Biscuits & Gravy Platter with a side of Pancake ( I am a pancake nut! I even live in pancake town USA (Burton, OH) where they have an entire month dedicated to pancakes and have pancake breakfasts at at least 5 places locally - this info comes in later in my story) my wife, Tracy, had the Grinder Bowl & Southern Sweet Tea & our friend, Meredith, had the Breakfast Naan Pizza & Apple Cider Chia Cinnamon iced tea. Everything came quickly and was absolutely delicious! The biscuits were freshly made and the gravy had a ton of flavor. My bacon was nice a crispy but still had the melt in your mouth fatty portions. Tracy's bowl was basically my platter but crumbled and mixed together and was equally as delicious. Tracy is from TN and knows something about sweet tea, and she said it was the real deal! Meredith said her Naan breakfast pizza was amazing & let us have a sip of her tea which was absolutely delicious. Now, the Pancake. The pancake...the pancake....was...the...best...pancake..I..have..ever..had...! It had just the right amount of crispy outside and was soft and fluffy in the inside.
