I'm a longtime TDM fan, but this place is special. They saved my day! I had eaten earlier at another "restaurant" in Bend that advertised lomo saltado. After 3 bites of that nightmare, I was left with the lingering taste of hot garbage on my tongue. I felt deceived and disgusted. Then I saw my oasis: Taco Del Mar; my flavor savior! Chris, El Presidente, greeted me warmly and promised me that everything would be ok. He delivered on his promise with two perfect fish tacos. Now, these aren't some fancy-ass, blackened wahoo tacos with truffle aioli at a Juan Les Pins beach hotel. But they're flawless, flaky, crunchy, tangy, cold-where-they-should-be-cold and hot-where-they-should-be-hot masterpieces. And that secret white sauce is like winning the lottery on your birthday. Chris saved me. So drive right past any lomo saltado lies and head straight for this Taco Del Mar. Ask for "El Presidente" or any of his kind, efficient staff. He'll save you, too.

Two baja bowls made by same person, drastically different in size.

We used to really enjoy eating here and frequented at least once a week. Unfortunately they seem to have gone downhill fast in the past few years. Had lunch yesterday and it will be the last. We ordered 2 Baja bowls and 1 burrito. The same person made all 3 items but somehow managed to make the Baja bowls drastically different in size when the only difference between the two orders was the meat type. About 1/4 cup of cheese on mine and literally less than a tablespoon on the other. The entire lettuce pile was rusty and should have been replaced not served. We ordered 3 drinks to go with our meals and had to ask for the cups 3 times before the cashier reluctantly handed them to us, it was strange. To top it all off I paid cash and I had to repeatedly ask for a receipt, even at one point told I couldn't have one until I pressed the issue. We will not be back.

This is a great place for a quick, tasty meal. I love that avocado is included on my vegan burrito. I do miss the corn salsa though!

After all that hard work, our family always ends up back at El Rodeo. It's our go-to spot and has been for years. The service is always great and the people working there are genuinely friendly and kind. It feels like a real family restaurant where they're happy you showed up. The bar is also a fantastic place to grab a drink or margarita, play a little video poker, and end up talking to half the locals in Bend. Somehow you go in for dinner and leave feeling like you attended a neighborhood reunion. The food is exactly what you want when you're craving Mexican: hot, good, and a lot of it. I have never once left there hungry or disappointed. Plates show up looking like they were designed for a lumberjack who skipped lunch. They recently remodeled the bar, which looks nice... but personally I believe Mexican restaurants should be built once in about 1987 and then left exactly the same forever. It's part of the charm. That said, the remodel won't stop me from going back regularly. Great people, great food, strong margaritas, and the kind of place that makes Bend feel like home. Five stars all day.

I ordered a Tostada with ground beef and a side of rice, the DH a Carne Asada Burrito. He got a margarita with "grand mariner" on the rim which means "gran gala". I got a top shelf with rail tequila; salt- rocks. I was surprised to receive our drinks in a plastic cups; which of course the salt does not adhere to. The tostada was so loaded and large that the corn tortilla was soggy immediately. It ended up being a plate of mush. The rice was very bland, and it had peas in it. This is not Mexican rice. The husband said his was okay, but there is a Florida chain called "Chuy's" which cannot be touched by any restaurant here in Bend. . The ticket was $78. Way too expensive for plastic cup drinks and mediocre "Mexican" food. Our server was nice and the reason for the 3 stars. Again, Bend is the destination for high priced and mediocre dining food and experience.

We shared a stuff popper appetizer which was a meal on its own. The poppers come with a dipping sauce that was rich and flavorful. The calling and pickup experience was good. The super supreme burrito was definitely not super and was not enough to fill my appetite. I hope that it was a one time experience at this location. I tried the chicken fajita burrito with was quite watery and I was not expecting raw green onions in it, but overall left me craving for a better version of a burrito. Super Nachos were good, not the best that I've had but quite good for the price. Overall I'll try this location again just to see if it was just not the best day for the restaurant.

They cater to their clientele, the people of Bend. I don't blame them at all for catering to their customer's tastes. I ordered an all meat burrito, some fish tacos and a couple of carne asada tacos. Let's talk first about their tacos. The tortillas are flour tortillas. Most Mexican joints use corn tortillas. The fish tacos are made with tilapia. They are grilled, not fried. Not quite the same fish tacos that we have in Southern California. The carne asada was grilled. However, both tacos seemed to be missing flavor. Adding salsa did not help. The all meat burrito was indeed all meat. I thought I asked for carne asada, instead, I got a burrito full of shredded beef. Again, adding seasoning would've helped. I'll be super nice to them and give them 3 stars. But, if you come from an area with lots of Mexican food, you won't like this spot.

There is a big difference. I went here with a few friends, and was immediately greeted by a kind hostess and a very attentive waitress. The restaurant appeared to be clean and there were quite a few people enjoying their meals. The restaurant was not overly crowded and was not too loud which made for good conversation at our table. When I picked up the menu, I immediately noticed the Yucatán style menu. This is important because it's not Mexico style cooking. Yukatán food is often more vibrant, with more spices, and more intense flavors. I got the Arrachera, which is a grilled skirt steak. It was wonderful. Perfectly spiced, and perfectly cooked. The rice was OK, but honestly I've never been a fan of Yucatán style rice, but the beans were not my favorite. For refried beans, they really did lack flavor and I felt like they were trying to make them taste better by the extra cheese they added to them. Of course the guacamole and the pico de gallo were perfect. All in all, this is a pretty good place. Again, it's just probably not what most people are used to when they think of Mexican food.
