    Puppy cup for the win!
    Denise D.

A new find on my search for great tacos!. I took a drive to Stillhouse Hollow Lake to watch the sun set, and on the way out, Taco Cowboy caught my eye. I whipped into the drive thru since I had my dog with me, and ordered up a couple of tacos. The server manning the window offered me a puppy cup of whipped cream for my dog which he greatly appreciated! I had a carnitas soft taco and a pastor soft taco. Both were regular sized, and had excellent texture and flavor.im looking forward to returning for a dine in experience and to try some other menu items. The prices were good too! $2.99 each for the tacos!

The reviews made this place sound great, so my husband and I were excited to check them out. The atmosphere was bright and colorful. There were only two other tables when we went, so service and seating were easy to get. Neither my husband nor I were expecting plastic cutlery or disposable plates, but it didn't really matter. The chips were good, and the salsa was okay. We like spicy salsa, though. We got the mini taco plate as a kind of appetizer. It was good but needed more acid, like lime or pico. The rice had good flavor, but some of it was undercooked. I wasn't all that interested in the refried beans, so I never had much of that. I liked my husband's chicken enchilada more than my beef, as the meat was a tad dry. We were confused about signing up for membership when we ordered drinks. It wasn't explained well. The food wasn't bad, and the service seemed to truly care about our experience, but overall, neither of us is rearing to return. There are other restaurants in the area we enjoyed more. This is one of those times I wish I could give half stars, but I'll round up because of the service.

Me and my best friend Whitley decided to stop at this place on a Sunday March 3, 2024 around 4 to 5pm, and I would like to say I would like to start off by talking about our server Maria, she was so amazing, sweet and kind and very helpful. Also, she gave me a little bit of a backstory of the restaurant and I loved that. Secondly, the food that is, there is to die, for I've never had any good authentic Mexican food. It was like a literally a hidden jewel. We just happened to stumble upon it whenever we were leaving the river and decided to stop to grab a bite to eat on our way home. If you haven't been to this place, then I highly suggest you go and check them out.

Finally got to try the breakfast tacos ! Delicious ! We got 2 Bacon egg cheese tacos, the kids waffle plate and I also had a steak egg and cheese breakfast taco and one el pastor taco with onion and cilantro ! The steak egg cheese taco was amazing ! I tried to take a good pic of the tacos but They were just wrapped in foil and I couldn't get a good Yelp worthy pic! Again, we'll be back taco cowboy ! Oh yea we got a horchata too! Mmm

Great meals Good prices. Very friendly staff It's a little bit out-of-the-way, but the dining room has Lots of room!!

    Sad ass beef burrito

It's cute, and the fact servers are kind. The food is really mediocre and everything comes on like fast food plates etc. The "queso" is either velveeta or ballpark cheese which is super disappointing when you want to go to a Mexican restaurant for the queso. Salsa was good but nothing to write home about. Pretty sure the chips are store bought bags. The refried beans are to liquidy and bland. Chicken texano was good. Decent seasoning and cooked well. But again not really a WOW this is good.

This was the first time that we checked out this restaurant in person and decided to dine in on a Sunday afternoon. When you drive up the place looks like an abandoned hole in the wall dump. For starters the first thing we noticed was a big Bullet Hole in a window with a crack sticking out from where the impact was that goes across the entire window and a junker car that was lifted up and had a missing tire and wheel assembly. If it wasn't for other customers park there we would have assumed that the place was abandoned. Not very safe or appealing looking but we still went inside. We had good experiences with doordash in the past so we wanted to see how good it was in person and we were very disappointed. They served most of the food on disposable containers in the menudo was served in a normal ceramic type Bowl. The portions have really shrunken compared to delivery that we got in the past and the food was mediocre at best. The portion size of the chips is a joke. It's like a toddler size portion of chips divided up for three people makes them look very cheap. The only good thing were the mini tacos that my daughter ordered the meat was very fresh and had a pleasant grilled taste to it. No offer of dessert and only checked on us once or twice. No communication or offer of the ticket and I had to figure out where to pay myself. The table to our right had way better service and they were very attentive with them and offered them about five times the amount of chips that they gave us including Chips To Go but did not offer us the same. I hope they improve and get back to the caliber that they had when they first opened because this was really a disappointment. We still tip the server 20% of our check because she was really polite but she was not very attentive and consistent with the service that she gave other people and the food was a disappointment overall.

Well first, the place is inviting for people of a certain age as well as for young people with many decorations evocative of the hippie era. It's clean and very pleasant. The menu is ambitious, I think they try too hard to be cute. And though the service was excellent, it all came down to the food for me. I ordered the Birdie Trio. It sounded interesting. But too many of these restaurants trying to do chicken and waffles take the shortcut and use processed boneless chicken parts reformed to look like an actual natural piece. I was supposed to get a thigh on each waffle. The chicken vaguely resembled thighs. But the meat was white and very salty. Not good. Should I ever drop in again, I'll stick with a more traditional combination and maybe my extra will be better. And oh, that credit card machine is set at a default of about 22% tip and that's on top of tax. Watch out!

What BBQ place on the list happens to be open on a Monday (and quite frankly, seven days a week)? Miller's Smokehouse in Belton. Miller's Smokehouse has one of the longest tenures on the Texas Monthly Top 50, making the list four times in a row (the third-highest behind Louie Mueller and Snow's). They've got their business down. As I arrived, I parked in a free parking lot just across the street and got into the line around 12:30. The line moves pretty efficiently, and you order separately from the barbecue line. I think this immediately felt disheartening as a barbecue fan. You kinda expect to get your food while in line and watch the assembly of workers put it together, instead of them being in a separate location in the back giving you order numbers. It doesn't feel like a true Texas barbecue experience and more like a Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Instead of going for a tray, I opted for one of their specialty sandwiches, the El Gallo Picante. It has their spicy hot link sausage and their smoked chicken topped with coleslaw, onions, jalapeños, pickles, and barbecue sauce. I also got a side of their broccoli salad out of curiosity and a roll of their homemade cornbread. I got my drink and sat down with my roll of cornbread. It wasn't long until my tray came to me. The sandwich stood on its own as a behemoth. So much chicken and sausage fell out of the bun. The sandwich was less concerned about being a sandwich and more focused on creating a space to try and contain a mixture of ingredients. It wasn't bad, but it was hard to say anything other than that I felt uninspired by the entire thing. The sausage was fine, the chicken was kinda dry, but everything together with all the separate ingredients masked the meats' faults. The broccoli salad was a unique side that I had never seen before at a barbecue joint, so I wanted to try it. It was cool, but not something I'd get again. As for the cornbread, it was quality, but if that's the most impressive part of the meal, then I'm questioning the establishment's ability to create a good barbecue experience. I think it's so cool to have so many special barbecue places near me and the ability to try so many, but I'm starting to wonder if the places that stay on the list for four editions start to lose their oomph. Do they become complacent knowing they already have their business and are established? Is there any need to try and push the envelope when you're just a recurring guest on top barbecue lists? Is it a me issue? Is it my fault I went to Burnt Bean a week prior and now I'm trying a place that sells all-day barbecue? With your big brick-and-mortar and your TV screen menus, you're not as hungry as you used to be.
