Overall decent. I had the Cuban which was decent, but not close to great Cuban sandwiches I have had elsewhere. Wife had a salad and was disappointed to discover the turkey in the salad was covered in a horseradish sauce which was not disclosed on the menu. In my opinion anything with a strong flavor should be disclosed so those disinterested can opt out. Service was decent, although they weren't busy when we visited. The fresh cut fries were nice, having to request an additional small cup of ketchup wasn't. Dinner came out in stages, very disappointing that it was at least five minutes between when the first dish came out and the seventh one. Stopped at Table 44 for a late lunch and had a great meal and wonderful service. My blackened grouper sandwich was tender and moist with a wonderful spicy crust. Green beans almondine on the side were fresh, crisp and served piping hot. I will definitely return for dinner soon. read more

I had only eaten there for lunch and that was a long time ago, so this was my first dinner experience. We lucked out and were able to get right in, suprising on a Saturday Night. I attribute that the Toledo Walleye (Hockeye Team) must have been out of town. It got busier as the night went on and the bar area was popular with the younger crowd. There was a band later in the evening, but not too loud where we couldn't converse during our meal. Out of the four of us, our collective meals were excellent. I had the stuff grilled chicken breast and it was especially tasty. All four of us also had the Betty's Salad and it was especially tasty, one of the best I've had. This was one of the those meals where the results exceeded my expectations. Kudos to the kitchen staff. The waitress was responsive without being too visable and the cocktails were well mixed. Nice Selection of beers as well. The ambiance and decor were fine for a nice dining experience. Overall we had a very nice time. Went early to beat the crowds from the hockey game, and there were only a couple other tables of customers. Service was quick and personal. Food was excellent. BBQ burgers, fries, and onion rings. Burgers cooked as requested-Medium and Well done, and all the food was piping hot when brought out. Would go again. read more

Being an Englishman living in Toledo Ohio it's hard to find good fish and chips, but at Table Forty4 I've had the best fish and chips outside the UK. Batter was light and crispy, fish was firm and well cooked. I'll definitely be coming back for more to this great restaurant/bar. read more

AVOID First let me say I usually avoid writing negative reviews if at all possible. I am making an exception for this place. Last night a group of us had reservations for 5:30. We had a hockey game to get to at 7 but felt we had plenty of time. We were seated at 5:30 and were probably 1 of 6 groups in the whole place. It was pretty empty. Our server was pretty slow. He greeted us about 15 minutes after we were seated. He took our drink orders which took another 10-15 minutes. We ordered beer so should not have been hard to get. Our server dropped off our drinks and did not take our order. No problem as it was about 6pm and we had plenty of time and were talking with our friends. The time finally came for us to place our order. We found out later that we ordered at 6:15. We still felt we had enough time so we ordered more drinks and waited. Now things go south. It is 6:50 and we are still waiting for our food. We ask our server to check on it. He does and comes back and says it is coming out now. We are getting frustrated at this point but wait a few more minutes. It is now 6:55 and no food. A guy from our party goes and talks to the manager. He tells the manager that we have been waiting for an hour(he estimated, we were not watching the clock). The manager goes into the kitchen, which I expected him to return with our food. Nope. He comes to our table and informs us that we ordered at 6:15 and it had not been an hour. Really!?!? So it had only been 45 minutes. How is that good service? 45 minutes is ridiculous. We still did not have our food mind you. After the manager has a couple more words with my buddy, my friend cancels our order. As we leave the resteraunt my friend tries to tell the manager that all he had to do is apologize. The managers tells my friend and I quote "get the fuck out of my resteraunt.". I have never been so badly treated in my life. Do not go to this place if you want any kind of good service. If you have 3-4 hours to kill than this might be the place for you. read more

The inside is great - a warm place. We ate outside and the service was POOR. We ordered two appetizers - the Fried Green Tomatoes were outstanding. The caso dip was poor. We had to ask three times for plates for the appetizers. The chips were a mix of three or four day old soggy chips and fresh crisp chips. My wife ordered the Rubin and I had the blackened Grouper. Her sandwich was just sliced meat stacked up - so so. The blackened Grouper was so hot in spice I could not even tell if there was any fish taste to be had. It could have been on Carp and taste the same! Well at least we tried a new place - and to think these are the same people who run the Chop House. Never Again! read more

I went to Table Forty 4 for lunch today with several coworkers. I have eaten here twice before and the food was decent. Today was an absolute disaster. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and when it arrived I noticed something was off. I tried a small bite an it tasted horrible. Then I noticed the awful smell. I looked at it closer and it looked raw, slimy and it smelled as if it were spoiled. I told the waitress and she offered a replacement, but at this point I had lost my appetite. Neither the manager or the waitress apologized for this. To top it off, they gave me a bill for my soft drink. What a horrible experience. Safe to say I will never return! read more

Food was tasty and fairly priced. Menu was clear and well thought-out. Atmosphere left much to be desired. Seems unnecessarily crowded for a good sized dining room. I understand the de-constructed look but only serves to create a loud, echo-ey environment. The owners/managers appeared to be attentive to staff and patrons, although watching the one gentleman habitually smoke cigarettes outside the main entrance was less than appealing. We were a party of 8, our waitress took it upon herself to write in the 18% tip on the credit card slip. We VERY often tip much more than 18%, her ostentatious maneuver limited her gratuity. I ate at Table 44 on a Friday night and was not impressed. The decor is nice and the patio offers a great place to eat and people watch downtown, but the food was mediocre at best. I had the calamari appetizer, which was spongy and greasy. For dinner, I ordered the stuffed chicken breast. Despite the description, it was not very flavorful. Nor was the dried out cilantro-lime slaw. I also had a bite of the pastrami sandwich, which oddly tasted like fried bologna. Beyond the food, I thought it was odd that the male waiter would only look at and speak to my male companion when addressing "us". Usually the food is great, as is the atmosphere. I ordered the Brushetta like the last 3 times I've been here and it was horrible. The tomatoes which are usually fresh seemed like canned marina sauce. It was disgusting. Another couple we were with ordered nacho chips and guacamole The chips were completely stale. nice atmosphere. was my first trip to table forty4. went before a walleye game since we were able to grab seats at the bar and avoid the 45 minute wait for a table. 2 hours before game time and bar staff was completely overwhelmed. took a very long time just for a bartender to ask us what we would like to drink. several orders that were placed after our food order was taken had come out before ours. food was good. probably a whole different experience to visit this place not on a game day. considering they are within walking distance to both of the stadiums i would have thought that they would have been more properly equipped to handle the crowds. would definitely try again, just for a drink before a game. read more

I am seriously shocked by these reviews. Table 44 is an excellent addition to the downtown Toledo scene. Out of 10-12 dining experiences, never had a bad meal. Service is exceptional, with the owner watching over everyone from the bartenders to the bus staff. Heard great things about this restaurant and I was excited to try it tonight. We arrived at 6, with a full restaurant but only one couple waiting before us. As soon as we entered a flustered looking man did not even greet us, held up his hand and said "It will be at least an hour wait!" as he ran by. Several tables were getting up to leave and we had time before our next plans so we waited. The lobby began to fill, with still no hostess taking names and no system in place whatsoever for seating. People began to leave after prolonged waits, some upset and saying they had reservations. We walked up to look for seats at the bar after 20-30 minutes and when we asked that same man (who appeared to be the manager) if we could be seated we were informed (as he held up a scrap piece of paper) that all of the empty tables were being held for people that had made reservations. Some had been held for over 30 minutes and were still sitting empty and he would continue to hold them. It was chaotic, unorganized and we left. HORRIFIC SERVICE! Food Mediocre Went on Saturday, before a Walley game. Got there around 5:45, Got seated right away, waitress took our drink order BUt it went down hill. WAY DOWN HILL! It took over and hour for our food, it came out all together (instead of salad first, etc.) and was lukewarm. Everyone, and I mean everyone, in our section had their food before us, regardless of the table size or that they came in after us. Made us miss the start of the hockey game. Finally, I went to the bar and asked for the manager. Was told he was upstairs. (Surprised that the manager would not be on the floor on a busy Saturday night?) by the bartender, but he would send him over. Just about then our food finally arrived. It was obvious that it had sat for a while, even though the waitress said she was checking on it. The manager came over about that same time, he apolozied but it did not seem genuine, more like we were a bother. My daughter went to eat her salad and it had several brown, mushy pieces of lettuce in it! UGH - TOTALLY Unedible! The manager just shook his head and said, Ill comp your meals and scurried away. No further apology, no would you like another salad, literally scurried away like he couldnt get away from our table fast enough. The waitress came back and was less than friednly at this point too. Like it was our fault. No apology for her The manager was true to his word and 'comped' the meals but not the drinks. We thought about ditching the bar tab too but didnt. We accidenlty shorted the check by $.27 or something close to that. The waitress, came back, and said we still owed, so I gave her a dollar to cover the amount we were short. (Literally, the tab was $57.27 and we thought we gave her $58 but it must have been $57) She brought back my change almost all pennies. Needless, to say, we did not leave her a tip - NOPE zero! I have never done that but by this time I was pretty much DONE! We will NEVER go back. I am posting to every review site I can to warn others of the deplorable service. I don't want others to think this is how all of downtown is. There are so many great places downtown, that I would much rather patron! read more

If you read some previous reviews you will notice a pattern. POOR SERVICE!!!!!! I have dined here before before numerous downtown toledo events, but never again. We made reservations for 5:30 pm, which was 2 hours before a concert and at 7 pm we still did not have our food, and actually hadn't seen our waiter for over 45 minutes so our drinks had been empty for quite a while as well. Our group was not the only table in the same situation and when we expressed our displeasure to the server he became rather hostile and defensive. We talked to the manager/owner on the way out and he pretty much blew us off as well so obviously he feels he has enough business already and doesn't need anymore. read more

This place hosted my wedding reception upstairs in Loft 44. I was originally very reassured that all would be well. While decorating, I had an owner scream in my face and threaten to cancel my reception (because we removed framed images from the wall, which was pre-approved by another owner and GM. It sounds like an overreaction and it was). This was just a couple hours after the other owner rudely barked about the money (which I was told to pay that day and I did). The day of, the last people were served at 9:00pm when dinner began at 7:30. It was truly embarrassing and overall stressful and offensive. No bride deserves to feel that way, especially in light of such a meaningful event. read more

First off, let me say that the service was pretty good. That being said, I would have a difficult time choosing this restaurant again. We ordered 4 different appetizers, and they were out of 3 of them. We ordered Kettle 1 and they were out. We ordered a total of 4 of the 8-ounce fillets, and they only had 2 left. We asked for them cooked medium rare, and they came out almost well-done. The garlic mashed potatoes lacked any garlic flavor at all. The food was quite bland overall. Then, the owner actually spoke with us and another worker explained that we, being from out of town may not be familiar with the way steaks are cooked in ohio. I am from the LA area, and my friend is from Manhattan, and we are both Toledo natives. We have had our share of good steaks. He initially tried to satisfy us with some free Jager Bombs(which would have been nice if I were 20 years old and in college), but I was not impressed. We explained our disappointment in them being out of so many of the items on the menu and were told that "its a Wednesday, we're stocked better on the weekends". That line there pretty well sums up their business. The owner made an effort to satisfy us by substituting a couple of sirloins, cooked very rare(in his estimation, not mine), and then comped the meal for us. He was a nice guy, but doesn't run restaurants very well. All in all, I was unimpressed and would probably not return on my next visit to my home town. read more

I have never been to Table 44 until the evening of March 19, 2011 I called Table 44 on Tuesday, March 15 and made a reservation for March 19 at 7pm for 25 people. When we arrived just before 7pm I asked that one more chair be added and the owner politely did so. We were seated right away. As people started arriving and sitting down we noticed that we had ONE server.......ONE SERVER FOR 26 PEOPLE! The poor server was overwhelmed and overworked and everyone had to wait for drinks and ask multiple times to "remind" the server what they had ordered. Then we started to order appetizers, they were out of 2 of their regular menu appetizers. NOT GOOD! Finally, a second server came over to help take dinner orders which made our original server even more confused because he was unaware that she was taking orders. It took forever to get our food, the food for the most part was "OK" and one person was served cold food. She returned the cold food and it was removed from her bill and she shared my dinner. It gets worse when we ask for our bills. Everyone's bills came out wrong so one of the men in my party went over to the computer with the server to assist him in getting the bills correct, at the server's request! Bills were coming out at all different times and were wrong serveral times and people were waiting 45 plus minutes to pay, holding their bills and money/debit cards. We finally asked to talk to a manager/owner. The people that own this place have no people skills and are very rude! Several people were complaining that their bills were wrong, food was cold, asking why we didn't have more than one server, etc. LEGITIMATE COMPLAINTS! The owner said "you consumed our food and you're gonna pay for it!" They comped NOTHING and never apologized once. One woman in my party got up to go outside for a cigarette and the owner grabbed her and said "you're not leaving here without paying your bill!" she replied that her cash had been sitting on the table for 45 minutes and she was only going out to smoke and he told her not to come back. I have NEVER had such a horrible experience at a restaurant in my life! I will NEVER go back to this place. The owner(s) was a complete asshole and needs to learn better customer service. My experience at Table Forty 4 was HORRIBLE. Our server was rude and incompetent. I ordered a Cuban Sandwich, but was given a chicken sandwich. I politely told the young woman who gave us our food (who was not our server) that I had ordered something else. She then said that she would go to the kitchen to grab the right sandwich. About 10 minutes later, our original server comes to the table to inform we that they "ran out of Cubans" and asked me if I wanted that chicken sandwich back! I asked him, "you mean the same sandwich that was brought out to me 10 minutes ago?" He replied with no irony in his voice what-so-ever "Yeah. I'm sure its still sitting back there." I couldn't believe it. Needless to say, I ordered something else off the menu. Plus, the entire night he was schmoozing with friends at another table and completely ignoring mine. I really wanted to give it a 0 rating but the website wouldn't let me. My husband and I were looking for a new place to eat and came across this place. I had called for reservations and was told they didn't take reservations on event nights. Ok, we were ok with that. We get there and have a fairly quick wait, no problem, but as I'm waiting to get in I go back to the bathroom and I notice an empty table in the back all set up. When we get sat we are next to this still empty table. We are waited on right away, get our drinks and our order is taken. Then we wait. Probably 30 minutes after we are seated a group of four are seated in the table next to us and are know by most of the wait staff. Apparently that table had been saved for those people, so I guess some people can have reservations. What made my husband and I get up and leave was when the table next to us recieved their food before us. We waited an hour to get our food and never did. Don't go here if you are in a hurry or hungry. read more

This is not the place to promote downtown Toledo. This particular evening only a limited menu was offered. Our party of six ordered sandwiches, burgers and appetizers. After twenty minutes our appetizers came out individually spaced at five minute intervals. $10.95 was a high price to pay for half a plate of frozen calamari that took twenty minutes to arrive. Fourty minutes later our sandwiches arrived. I could have eaten a better burger at Wendy's. The chicken was undercooked (can you say "salmonella") and all sandwiches that were supposed to have bacon did not. They were out if it. All food service workers will tell you, send the busboy to Kroger when you run out of bacon. The owner/manager was extremely rude and refuted the time it took to serve our food. Really ? THATS WHY I WEAR A WATCH. I don't think I have had a worse dining experience in Toledo and I have lived here all my life. I have read similar posts but should have read them before I ventured to Table 44. Don't waste your time or money at this place. Toledo has much more to offer downtown. read more
