Great beer from Catawba Island! Who knew?!
Patricia P.

Table Forty4 in the warehouse section of Toledo, OH was warm and welcoming on a very cold winter night! We stopped overnight in town and wanted to explore downtown however this neighborhood close to the place where we were staying came highly recommended. Our first stop of the night was at Table Forty4; the large bar dominated the place; the atmosphere was friendly and the décor was classic. As customary, my husband and I sat at the bar and asked to see their selection of craft beers; although the list was short we found it had interesting local choices from Rhinegeist Brewery to Platform, but the one that peaked our attention was the Water Spout from Catawba Island, a micro- brewery from this town on Lake Eerie. Who knew? It was smooth but hearty with all the right combinations to make a great beer, taste, foam and color.

In the years this restaurant has been open, they've had their ups and downs. I work downtown, so my co-workers and I come here for lunch on occasion. My most recent visit was very positive: good food (as always), attentive service, and the kitchen was punctual. The prices have fluctuated over time, as has the menu itself, but it seems to have stabilized with a tasty and relatively eclectic menu with prices that are pretty standard for a sit-down restaurant lunch downtown (about $12 after tip). Table Forty 4 is in my rotation for weekday lunches downtown... although I'm disappointed that the mashed potatoes side dish is only available for dinner now.

We had a group of 22 with reservations made three months in advance. They were completely unprepared. People waited entirely way too long for dinner. My meat loaf was dry and lacked flavor. I ordered a side salad but it never arrived. It appered that everything was done cheaply. My co-workers complained about over cooked burgers and flavorless fish. The two star rating is for the drinks. I won't be back.

We came here for dinner just before the Brit Floyd Concert at The Huntington Center. We tried the Blarney Irish Pub but they were PACKED with no room. Anyway, we were greeted promptly and took seats at the bar. We liked the ambiance and friendliness of the employees. Our server Bob did a great job. Was not too busy at first, but by the time we left they got hit with about 60-80 more people. My wife had the Peanut Butter Burger and I had a BBQ Burger. They were very good, and we loved the fresh cut french fires because they were really... Fresh Cut. The pickles that came with our burger was real good and you could tell it was of high quality. We noticed either management or an owner helping staff out when things got busy. The Blueberry Beer was delish. Sorry but we cannot remember its name but it was on tap. A good stop before a concert! Especially when that darn Blarney is full and Pizza Papalis is too rich for ya. Oh, and if your a Floyd Fan and you have not seen Brit Floyd yet... What is your problem? They are awesome. They'll be back next March. Seen them last 3 years ...in March. TableForty4 is Cool!

Brisket platter. Meat was delicious. Mac and cheese was lukewarm but my husband loved it. Nice service

I made a brunch reservation here a few weekends ago for some girlfriends and I. Went on a Saturday…read moreand brunch is only on Sunday, womp womp. We pivoted and all had a lovely meal. Our server was so terrific. All the food was delicious. I'd been craving French onion soup and decided to give it a try and it was sofa king good. Perfection! I also had a delicious turkey club paired with a kiwi smash. The space is open with high ceilings and a long bar. It started filling up shortly after we were seated so would recommend a reservation. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Toledo!

This is kind of a hard review for me. I REALLY wanted to love this place, but a few things went…read morekind of wrong, and the ambiance, although really interesting, was off. The drinks were good, but again, a hitch. Service too... So, two of us ordered the French dip sandwich. They were just OK at best. Really no flavor, the roll was kind of wrong and the jus was tasteless. I asked (several times) for some horseradish, and I would guess it's still on its way to the table... 2 folks ordered the fried walleye, and one said it was REALLY good and the other said it was really over cooked. 1 person ordered the burger and said it was great. The last person ordered the salmon and did like it. The standout sides were the brussels sprouts and the fries. Both are very, very good. No comments about the other sides. The person across the way ordered the bruleed sweet potatoes and they looked amazing. The ambiance. What a cool place inside. A cool mix of furnishings with some kitsch factor. Not in a bad way from aesthetics, but in practicality, a big miss. When we were taken to our table, we were presented with a 1950's style dinette and chairs. Again, really kitschy, but not at all fun to sit in. The place has a cool mix of all kinds of stuff, but the noise was deafening. We tried to talk to one another, but it was really hard. Just too much background noise from all the people in a concrete, brick and steel room. Too bad. The drinks... So, I took a chance and ordered my martini. I explained how I wanted it mixed, etc. and the bartender did a superb job! Hats off to him for making a great martini! The big issue was one of our guests wanted a Bloody Mary. The waitress explained that they have great Bloody Mary's as they make their own mix. After the drinks were ordered, the waitress came back to the table to let us know they were out of Bloody Mary mix. Mind you, this is 6:00 on a Saturday. That shouldn't happen. The service... All of the drinks were ordered at the same time, and they came out in a staggered fashion over a period of 15 minutes. Same thing with our dinners. Interestingly, the hold up with the entrees was the 2nd French Dip. I would guess if the guy making the sandwiches saw 2 of the same thing on the same ticket, he'd make them both at the same time. That second sandwich took at least 15 minutes to get to the table. We're all being polite and waiting for his meal to deliver so we can all eat at the same time. Cold fish, anyone? And I'd still like to know where my horseradish went. Oh, parking in the lot to the left of the building is stupid expensive. Park in the garage across the street and save $20 bucks. All in all, our check came to about $100.00 for 3 of us. That's without the tip. My meal was a solid 2 to 3-star event but factoring in the others' opinions and negating the Bloody Mary incident and service, I'll give it 4 stars. Pretty sure I'll go back, but probably not too soon.

After picking up lunch today, I realized I've never reviewed Adams Street Cafe, and honestly that's a huge miss on my part. I've probably eaten here once a week on average for years. It's so consistently delicious that I think I've underestimated just how important it is to the Toledo restaurant scene. The food is always excellent and clearly made from scratch. Nothing tastes premade or mass-produced. And the house-smoked meats? Absolute game changer. Even something as simple as a smoked turkey sandwich is completely next-level. Pro tip: order the Smoked Turkey Bacon Gouda -- it's unreal. The Bacon and Brie burger is another standout, and the daily specials are always worth checking out as they keep the menu fun and inventive. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you haven't been yet, you owe it to yourself to go try it.

I first discovered this cute cafe' 12 months ago and gave it 5 stars because the Turkey Reuben…read moresandwich was amazing. Today, I tried something else that I unfortunately didn't love, so I'm rating it 4 stars. Today, I didn't place my to-go order ahead of time and instead walked in and sat at the counter and sipped on a diet pepsi while I waited. I would describe the decor as cozy, rustic farmhouse chic, with lots of pictures of pigs. I had time to take pics while I waited for my order. I stopped in a bit later than the usual lunch rush, so there was literally no one dining in. A couple of people came in to pick up their carryout orders. The server was very friendly and down to earth. I ordered the pepper smoked turkey sandwich based on some reviews that raved about it. Rather than chips or fries, I opted to upgrade to a slaw for $2 more. I couldn't wait to get back to the office and try the food. Before digging in, I took photos because everything looked delicious. The meal was top notch quality. The turkey was thickly sliced with artisan lettuce and a garlic aioli sauce, plus cheddar cheese. The bread was a tasty sour dough. I ordered it without onions because I didn't want onion breath. Despite the high quality ingredients, it somehow wasn't amazing. It was very good but I didn't taste the pepper flavor on the turkey. The slaw was a nice mixture of kale, cabbage and carrots. For my taste, the cream sauce was on the sweet side, whereas my preference is less sweet and more tangy. Nevertheless, the ingredients were very fresh. As I reached the bottom of the bowl, however, there was a lot of runny cream sauce. Again, my personal preference is for less cream; someone else might love it. I know it seems like I am being overly picky, but I should mention that the total cost of my lunch (before tip) was $18.75 (sandwich, slaw and diet pepsi that was a fountain drink with mostly ice). Yes, everything is expensive these days, but I couldn't help being disappointed. I would absolutely return and order the Turkey Reuben in a heartbeat but wouldn't order the pepper turkey sandwich, slaw or soda. I'd also recommend dining in the adorable restaurant rather than eating at an office desk with plastic utensils!

I had seafood Cioppino and my friend ordered Wild Boar Bolognese. We also shared Classic Hummust o share as appetizer. WOW, everything tasted great and delicious. I passed by the kitchen to go use the restroom and had to stop to enjoy all the dishes that were prepared and ready to serve. Even a simple Romaine Wedge looked so good with halal beef bacon sprinkled on it. Could not order any dessert since we both were full. A wonderful dining experience and deducting back for more if I am in the area in the future.

Went back to Souk last Saturday with 3 other dining partners and really had a great experience…read more We had a reservation and unfortunately, they seated us in the front room. It's nice in there, but it was just too loud for us. We asked our waitress if we could move to the back room. she checked with the hostess, and it was no problem. She graciously helped us move, thanked us and handed us off to our new waitress. She was really nice about everything. Our new waitress took our drink orders, and I decided to have a Manhattan. It was just the well whiskey (I'm guessing they used domestic whiskey, so the "e" needs to be there!) and it was really well made. They even used a giant ice cube that kept the drink well chilled without the dilution issues typical ice can bring. On to appetizers... We had the calamari and an order of hummus with onions and browned butter. The calamari was really nice, but kind of stingy. It was very well cooked, nicely breaded, etc. My one quibble is there just wasn't enough, especially for the price. The hummus... So, the hummus was a rather generous portion that was out of this world delicious. It was served in a large bowl with browned onions, brown butter, paprika and fried or baked chickpeas. The hummus reminded me of Middle East Market. Smooth, creamy, garlicky, well-seasoned. If you go to Souk and don't get this, you're making a huge mistake. After the apps, we moved on to our entrees... I had the crab cakes. They were really enjoyable, served with some nicely dressed, mixed salad greens. they were full of crab meat (but unfortunately not lump crab). The outside was crispy and the inside was very nicely cooked. Great flavor. One of the folks at the table had the butternut squash ravioli. It was probably my favorite dish of all that night. Amazing flavor and perfect texture. the thing that makes their ravioli the "leader of the ravioli wars" is they served them with a sherry, cream sauce that was just amazing. Kind of a sweet and savory, salty thing. Delicious. Our other guest had the Kafta Ravioli and said it was really good. I didn't try it, so I really can't comment, but it did look pretty great. After our entrees, we moved on to coffee and split a desert. Souk's Turkish coffee was great. It's been years since I've had Turkish coffee, but it was really strong and piping hot. Just perfect. We also split an order of their bread pudding. WOW! I've not had bread pudding that good since I was in New Orleans. So, my first trip to Souk really sucked (see my review). My guess is they were having a bad night, and we got stuck with a really sh*tty waiter. The place is expensive, but the food and drink substantiate the prices. Our waitress was very professional, she knew the menu and offered informed suggestions when asked. She seemed to know when we needed her. We were not rushed and really felt like they appreciated out business. Can't wait to go back.
